Kai was discovering that he rather liked the river. It reminded him of home, in a sense -- the cool, rushing water was somewhat like the gentle lap of the tide pools -- and prey was easy to come by. He hadn't quite gotten the hang of hunting large prey yet, so fish were his best bet if he wished to keep himself well-fed.
And so he had taken to wandering the river banks, moving at a leisurely pace, taking in the sights as they came to him. Now that he was a rebel, a loner, he could go where he wished at the rate he desired.
Just now, it was warm and sunny outside, and he was rather enjoying the breeze that rippled through his fur. Today was a good day, he decided. A good day indeed.

He had a pack to join. Kean couldn't get that little tidbit of knowledge out of his head, lingering in the back of his mind and prodding him insistently with its snout that he swore could be covered in spikes. Buh. But how to approach the Order of the Rose? Why was it such a worrisome thing for him to consider? He twitched his tail carefully as he thought, his chin held high with his normal false confidence, and continued to turn the thought over in his head like a tumbling fox. Perhaps he could merely plunge into the pack's territory and demand an audience with the alpha, Fantasia. Then again, that also might be juuuuust a bit too dangerous. He liked his limbs a little too much to risk that.
In the midst of his thoughts, Kean found that he ended up near the river, and he immediately dropped his chin a little, a sure sign that he was untensing his muscles as well. It had such a lovely, soothing sound to it. If he could, Kean would live by the river every day, feasting upon fish and splashing about it in when he wanted to make a fool of himself. He paused by the edge of it, sniffing the air carefully before dipping his neck to lap up some of the cool water. Gosh, but that tasted amazing.
When he lifted his chin once again, however, he was suddenly aware of a scent in the air that he hadn't caught before. He blinked a few times, turning his head carefully before he caught sight of a vivid blue male wolf a bit further down the river, languidly approaching him by following the bed. Kean didn't even think he'd been noticed yet. However, given that the wolf also didn't look very tense, Kean could assume that he would more than likely not lash out at him and try to eat his...everything.
"Good afternoon," he called out in his deep and solemn voice, his tail wagging casually and in a welcome way. His maw twitched a little in a smile before he plopped down by the riverbed and tilted his head slightly to the side. "Enjoying the river?"

"Immensely," Kai called back; there was an easiness in his voice, an air of likability that, for the most part, was difficult to ignore. He drew himself closer to the newcomer, carrying himself with the ease of someone who had long been accustomed to getting what he wanted. "And yourself, stranger?"

Kean snorted softly, tilting his head a little further to the side. "Is there a way that you can't?" he asked, his voice nearly a drawl, before he turned his head to look down into the river. It truly was beautiful in the way that it streamed, and calming enough that already he found it difficult to remember why he was worrying about what it might take to enter into the Order of the Rose before. If it happened, then it happened. If it didn't, then it didn't. He needed to stop panicking so much. It didn't suit him, especially with how confident and calm he generally was.
"I should stick around it more often," he decided with a nod, looking back at the blue wolf curiously. "So. Who are you?" he asked, his tail continuing to wag carefully as he arched his brow. The wolf seemed extremely confident and cocky. Perhaps Kean could draw things from him.

"I've yet to think of one," Kai agreed, and grinned. "My name is Kailani. But Kai will suffice, if you please." He cast his eyes over the other, intrigued, as always, by the sight of a stranger. "I haven't seen you in these parts before."

Kean finally grinned back, feeling himself relax completely. He liked this wolf already. He seemed like he was absolutely confident in himself in every way, after all. Kailani. It sounded strangely feminine to him, but the wolf wore it without a problem. Regardless, he could see why he'd prefer to go by Kai. "Kai. Sounds good," he said, nodding a few times. With that said, he stood up and turned toward the river. "I'm Kean. It's a pleasure, Kai." He dipped down, taking a few more gulps of the river's water before pulling back and watching the fishes scurry past beneath the surface, each terrified of his mere presence. "Yeah, well...I'm normally here in the evening. That might be why, I suppose." He looked back toward Kai. "Just a habit, I suppose."

"It can be nice to shake things up a bit, from time to time," he said, and watched Kean's activity toward the fish with some interest. A question rose in his thoughts, and he mulled it over a moment, debating. He decided against that particular inquiry for now and asked, instead, "Does your pack reside here?"
