Rorret's limbs were buzzing with electricity as he slunk away from the swamp. He knew he had lied to Arkadios. He was no fool. The damn huntmaster had crept away to feed his unholy appetite, and it had finally bitten him where it counted.
There was no reason to believe that the assassins had been involved. In fact, there was every reason to believe that they hadn't been.
So why was he so excited? Why had the idea fixated itself so firmly in his mind, that his darling mother might be near, that the pack may be mobilized against her?
It was folly. They had no alpha. The traitor was still loose. The pack was falling apart. No one was willing to go to war.
And yet, he couldn't dampen his excitement at the idea. His limbs trembled, and he caught himself pacing slightly, weaving between the ghostlike trees. He could see it all before him, stretched out as a shining, beautiful line: His future laid out at his paws. He knew where he was headed. The question was, how to get there?
The omega lifted his nose to the sky, brow furrowing. That was strange. He thought he caught the scent of another wolf...a strange wolf.
But what stranger would dare to wander into this pack?

Loki had been away a long time. Too long, he thought. Perhaps his God, his Alpha, His Lord, would not forgive him this time. Especially since he was only bringing one pup back. Perun was good within the shadows, almost as good as himself, but his vanity was going to be his downfall. As Loki wandered home, thoughts of his pack, and the changes that may have happened in such a long time. He knew his God was still there, He was the Heart of the pack, it would never change. As he got closer to home, he noticed a new scent on the air. A new wolf. Yet, they had the scent of the Brotherhood. He had to investigate. "Perun, Stay put, stay in the shadows until I call you. Someone is about that I don't recognize." Spoke the Omega, his voice as chill as the shadows he loved. He stalked off, to find this new wolf, hunt him as he hunted his pups, test him, as he tested everyone.

Perun followed behind Loki, constantly popping in and out of the shadows. It amused him, and he was determined to be as good as Loki someday...if not better. Sure ya know, the omega wolf killed off his whole family, made him eat the flesh of his sisters, but eh, he still wanted to be like the one who took him from his family. The pup couldn't really explain it as he didn't quite understand why, but he just felt comfortable. Like he belonged with Loki and living among the world of shadows. Though, Perun had a very major downside, and that was how vain he was. He knew he looked good. Being able to perfect skills quickly, gave him even more reason to brag. He felt overly confident that he would overtake Loki someday and wasn't afraid to hide it. So when Loki told him to stay, the pup couldn't help but whine a little bit. "Fine." he muttered, but after a few moments had passed he quickly and quietly stalked after Loki, making sure that the Omega didn't notice his presence as well. How else was he to practice his skills among the shadows if he was told to stay put all the time? ((Whoops! This is Pip. I thought the computer was logged into my name. <___<;;;; ))

Rorret was a young wolf -- young enough to have been born and stolen in Loki's absence -- but he was sharp and keen to move up in the pack. Not that he had any interest in becoming a gamma or, shadows help him, a beta. No. He had his eyes on a single prize: thiefmaster.
The grey wolf understood that there was already a wolf in the job title, but he had no need to care. There was a thiefmaster, much the same as there was an alpha. Gone. Absent. Useless and outmoded.
Unlike himself. He was young, and full of life, and plans. And anyone who sought to stand in the way of those plans would quickly find themselves at the mercy of his teeth...or, more often, his wits.
"Who goes there?" He asked, from his hiding place within the shadows. "Show yourself."

"Who are you, to Challenge me?" spoke Loki, his chill whisper floating in the wind, seeming to come from every shadow. "Do you not know who I am? The very Shadows speak my name, The night, my voice. Only I, among all the Omegas, may sit with his head held high in front of our God."
Though Loki spoke in anger towards this young Omega, he was still impressed with the wolfs ability to even sense him. Only His God had been able to do that in all the years he was part of the pack. Not even the silly Betas knew when he was about.
Loki allowed his words to float on the air, to hang there as a veiled threat, or as a deathly miasma, before stepping out near the young Omega. He knew that while the young one knew he was about, he couldn't have possibly known how close the Thief truly was.

((Haha. I remembered to sign into my own name this time. <__<;; ))
Perun kept to the shadows, holding his breath every moment, just waiting to be attacked from behind from his Omega. It'd be just his luck to think he was doing so well and be attacked from behind. But, so far so good. He caught up to where he felt the others were and sat far enough away to watch and listen. It intrigued him that Loki could throw his voice like that, even made him shudder a little bit. Perhaps another trick he would have to pester Loki about teaching. And Perun was quite good at pestering the Omega into teaching his secrets, or rather, he thought he was good at it. Now to just sit and watch.

Rorret's brows raised as the wolf spoke, his ears perking forward, mismatched eyes gleaming in the dark. "Apologies," he said, dipping his head in deference as the violet wolf appeared. He glanced up at him from his peripheral vision, sizing him up. Another omega? But one unlike others he had seen...not a cowering, simpering coward or a useless worrier...but a wolf with confidence. Arrogance, even.
It made him smile.
"You bear the cloak of the Shadowclan, but your scent is unknown to me," he said, carefully. "Many have gone missing, in the absence of our Lord Alpha. Which are you, Brother?" His nose twitched; he could swear there was the scent of another wolf lingering here, as well. "And who is it you bring?"

Loki appreciated the show of respect from this young Omega. Perhaps some of the tenets of the Pack had not been forgotten. But the only thing on his mind, the only thing that caught his attention was the mention of the absence of his God. How could that be? His God was almighty, no one could defeat him, no one could destroy him. He was the heart of the pack. More importantly, he was the reason Loki kept doing what he did so well.
"You are forgiven your arrogance, Young one" Loki spoke, his voice more normal, though still a dark whisper compared to others of his kind. "I am known as Loki, also called the Thiefmaster. I have been gone a while, but it is good to see that strong blood has been maintained in the pack." Loki spoke these words as a means to put the young wolf in his place, but also to lower his defenses. The young often idolized those who have shown great potential, and Loki was a legend among the other thieves.
"Who are you, young one, and what has been going on in the pack since my departure?" again, using his words to downplay his worry, and to glean information, hoping to maintain as much knowledge while at the same time drawing more out. Then he turned and stared directly at his young pup, who had disobeyed his order to stay, and said "Perun, since you are determined to follow me anyways, come over and introduce yourself to your future packmember."

Perun was enjoying watching the two figure out who was who. No one would ever be better than his Omega though, well, no one except himself anyways. He was proud that he hadn't been spotted yet, but alas that was to end when Loki called him out.
He whined a little bit as he revealed himself to both his Omega and the new wolf. "How'd you even know I was there? I was so quiet and I thought I blended in quite nicely." From this point on, he would probably pout for a little while. Even though it wasn't an official test, it still bothered him that he "failed" to hide from Loki and even the new wolf. "Not fair." he muttered quietly under his breath.

Rorret's mismatched eyes flicked sidelong to the pup, a brow raising. He had been young, once, and equally impudent. He looked back to Loki, his attention sharply laid upon the other wolf.
"Thiefmaster," he said, testing the title on his tongue. So. This was him. This was the wolf whose title he had coveted. "Your reputation has preceded you. They tell tales of your exploits."
He slid to his haunches, shrugging his own cloak over his shoulders. "My name is Rorret." He hesitated, uncertain how to proceed with the explanation of everything that had happened in the thiefmaster's absence. There was so much, and Rorret had never known the pack the way it had once been. He had never even seen this god alpha they spoke of with so much adoration, though he suspected he was not so impressive. "I...much has happened, I gather, in your time away."

"I would assume, since I have been gone so long, that much has happened." Loki spoke with his normal arrogance, as he circled the new Omega, this Rorret. "I had to travel further than normal to find blood worth being called Brother." he said, motioning towards Perun. He noted that the little pup was sulking at being found so easily. The failure was good for him. While he was a natural at using the Shadows, he needed to learn that none could sneak on him.
He snapped his attention back to Rorret, his golden eyes peering into the mismatched eyes of the grey wolf. "Why don't you start by telling me where our God is, and if he is missing, who is in charge." Then, making his voice a dreaded whisper again, "Then, if I decide to let you live, you should probably tell me anything else I should know."
Loki wanted answers, and Rorret would be the best place to get them, before entering a possibly dangerous situation. He was not about to give this strange Omega the advantage over him by knowing more than he, however.

Perun continued to sulk. He was a very vain and took pride in his accomplishments but at this moment he just wasn't happy at being spotted, especially by that other wolf. As the pup listened to them talk he started to get bored. He knew nothing of this pack, since before tagging along with Loki he used to live in another. So all of this was just mumbo jumbo to him.
To keep himself amused he decided to start practicing again, and so he slipped back into the shadows and wandered away from them. Perun couldn't help but wonder how long it'll take before Loki either yelled at him or came after him for wandering off.

A slight smile curled Rorret's maw. This...was a different sort of omega than those he had met. One more like himself. A kindred spirit, if such a thing could possibly exist. "You have been gone a long while, indeed," Rorret agreed. "I fear, then, that I have bad news for you. Danel is gone. The pack is crumbling. Many have gone in search of the traitor - and in search of the God Alpha -- and few have returned. I know not if they have died, or turned traitor themselves."
And the next question was even harder. Who was in charge? That...was complicated to answer.
"Three of the eldest members have agreed to care for the pack until our situation stabilizes. Arkadios, the Warmaster. Firdaws, the Huntmaster. And Xihuitl, the storyteller. The betas are gone."
He was full of bad news today, wasn't he? Time would show how the purple wolf reacted to it all. His eyes ticked over to the place the pup had stood, and brows raised over mismatched eyes. "There are several new pups in the pack," he said, shifting the topic slightly. "The choice came between allowing the Shadowclan name to fall into obscurity, or to rebuild. Your recruit should have plenty of agemates to train with."
Unlike himself. When Rorret had entered the pack, there was only his idiot brother Collier to play with.

Loki let the information flow to him, tasting it as he would the shadows. It was bad news, but not horrible. Someone had been smart enough to keep the Brotherhood going. This council, these elders, that could not stand. They needed a strong leader, whether it be one of these elders, or another. It worried him that Danel was gone, His God seemed so permanent, if a little crazy at times. But the fact that those Betas were gone, and much of the old pack as well, didn't phase him. As long as the Shadowclan survived, it's members were not important
"Rorret, you seem to be a fine wolf. A good addition to the pack. You and I should talk more on these changes. Perhaps we can find a better solution together." Loki was beginning to like this Omega. There was a certain eagerness to him, a desire, that matched his own. " I must retrieve my wayward pup again. Though, before all these changes, it was Our God who made the final decision as to new members. Who should I bring Perun to for judgement now?" A thought struck him, then, and he added, "and the poor pup doesn't know yet that his training won't be under me. Do you have any idea who is training our new bloods now?"

He nodded, a ghost of a smile across his maw. Oh, he had a few ideas about leadership...but, of course, they would have to wait until the likes of Arkadios had decided that waiting for Danel was pointless.
Deciding immediately that Loki was precisely the kind of wolf Rorret could appreciate, he nodded. "Yes...together, I dare say we shall."
He glanced back toward where the pup had disappeared to, and pondered. "It depends, perhaps, on where the pup's interests lie. Any of those wolves I named are willing and eager to school an apprentice. If he has a taste for power, I would recommend Arkadios. He has the makings of a strong Left Paw, and little patience for fools."
