Despite Glory Storm's conclusion that Rua was pretty well nuts, he had nevertheless managed to spark in her a small, quiet flare of inspiration. It was as though, somehow, the rainbow-maned wolf had reached down and with the simplest gesture, given her life new purpose. Renewed vision. A goal to reach for.
Glory was going to fight evil.
Unfortunately, Rua's description as to what precisely 'evil' was had left her feeling a bit foggy-headed. And she was still a bit uneasy about launching herself into anything head-first if Conk was around, because the last thing she needed was to hear him snickering at her if she failed.
So she figured, perhaps she'd start small. Evil could be bad luck, right? After all, from the sounds of it Rua's whole pack had very bad luck, and he was always talking about evil...so it seemed logical that the two things could be connected.
And who did Glory know with terrible luck? Rabbit's Luck!
Quite pleased with the way her plans were going, the grey pup made her way toward where she suspected the rabbit-toting rainbow wolf would be. Rainbows everywhere. She just hoped her stupid brother wasn't anywhere around.
Pausing, she sniffed around for the pup she was looking for.

Rabbit was having one of those days again. Then again what day in her horribly unlucky life wasn't one of those days? At least she managed to save Blackavar from that raven. It had been a frightening ordeal that she was not really wanting to go through so soon after the last time. And that raven today have been quite vicious. She had been pecked several times as she battled against that wretched avian. What made it worse was their her brother carried a raven around with him, so why did the other ravens thing it okay to try to eat her precious rabbit.
Her main concern right now that the bird had finally left was checking on Blackavar. Poor thing must be totally traumatized after all of that. Carrying him gently to the shade of a nearby tree, she set the dead rabbit in the crook of her front legs as she laid down and looked him over carefully. "You weren't hurt were you?" She asked the rabbit as she licked him over, smoothing out his fur. Her slight injuries were nothing to her, they could be looked at after she made sure her friend was unhurt.

The other litter , as Glory tended to refer to them, had some really strange habits. Foremost among them was their tendency to befriend dead animals, which was exceptionally baffling to the pup. It was weird enough to make friends with a rabbit or a crow or something...but it was especially weird to carry it around with you when it wasn't even alive. Weirder still was their apparent failure to realize that the animals in question were, in fact, dead.
Then again, the whole thing mystified Glory doubly, because they were in surprisingly good shape. Well cared-for, she guessed. But...jeez. Hadn't Rabbit's Luck been carrying around that damn rabbit all their lives? He smelled pretty good. She'd give her that.
Sighing, forcing a big smile on her face and trying not to back out from what was looking like a dumber idea by the minute, she made her way up to the other pup. "Having problems?" She asked, gesturing to the rabbit.

Rabbit had been concentrating so hard on Blackavar that she had not hurt the approach of the pup until the voice broke through her concentration. The moment she laid eyes upon her Rabbit's paws pulled Blackavar closer, protecting him. She did not like the other litter, much like her siblings didn't like them, they were rivals and probably always would be. Still, her siblings barely paid any attention to her and when they did it was generally laughing at her misfortune. Even her father didn't seem to care about her, all she had was Blackavar.
"No." Rabbit replied a bit hastily, then glanced down at Blackavar nestled in her paws. He had been relatively unhurt, a few tufts of fur were missing but nothing major this time. "A raven tried to take him away and eat him." She stated softly, eyes still on her little rabbit friend. "But he seems to be unhurt." And thank the spirits for that, Rabbit wasn't sure what she would do if anything really bad happened to Blackavar.

Truth be told, Glory didn't mind Rabbit so much -- for one of the other pups. Or even Heart, for that matter. It was those stupid stinky boys that caused all the trouble. All the times she'd seen them pushing their sisters around, or ignoring them...well, all she knew is that she wouldn't take it from her brothers. She felt a little sorry for the others because they were so weak.
Well. What would Rua say about that? That it was now Glory's duty to protect the weak. So she'd just have to overlook their differences for a moment. Rise above them.
"Was it your brother's?" She asked, sensibly. Always best to rule out the obvious. She felt like an idiot asking, since she knew perfectly well that dumb bird wasn't eating anything anytime soon, but with these pups you never knew. Rabbit could be panicking over an imaginary bee or something next time.

Slowly Rabbit was beginning to realize that perhaps this pup wasn't here to try to steal away Blackavar or make fun of her unlucky ways but was actually here to maybe be friends or at least show some concern. Still it would be hard for her to trust so soon, as things usually had their way of turning badly really quickly. So for now he erred on the side of caution and kept her paws on Blackavar, but was willing to at least talk with the other pup.
Rabbit gave her head a bit of a shake. "No, it wasn't his, it never leaves his side." Or at least she was pretty sure it didn't, as Rabbit never saw Raven without his bird unless Heart had it and that was a rare thing. "I think it was the same one that tried last week." And the week before, Rabbit added mentally but she didn't want to say that to Glory just yet.
"What's your name?" It's not that Rabbit didn't know the pups name, she knew all the names of the rival litter, she just never bothered to remember which face went with which name.

"Glory Storm," she said, feeling exasperated. How could the other pup not know her name? She knew everybody's name.
Ah well. Patience was a virtue she would learn to work on. Patience, and keeping her temper. "If that raven's been bothering you, I can go take care of it," she said, quite confidently. She hadn't the slightest clue how to kill a raven, or even how to hunt one, but she was quite certain she could figure it out. How hard could it be?
Besides, she thought. If she succeeded, she could give the raven to Heart, and then she would have done two good deeds in one day. And surely that was a great start. Rua would be proud, right? Absolutely. "Do you know where he went?"

Ah yes, Glory that's what it was. She knew the name, and now had a face to attach it to. Rabbit would try to remember it if only because Glory didn't seem so bad to her, in fact she was even trying to help with that raven problem. Rabbit gave her shoulder's a bit of a shrug. "I guess you could try. But he's very mean." As evidenced by the fresh cuts on Rabbit's face, they would heal in no time but they still stung a bit. She glanced around trying to get her barrings of where she was now verses where she had been when the raven attacked her.
"It went that way." Rabbit pointed off to the west with her muzzle. "It lives in that collection of trees." Slowly she uncurled her paws from around Blackavar and nudged the rabbit a bit, getting him into a more comfortable position so he could rest. "But I wouldn't go over there if I were you. There are a lot of ravens that live in those trees." Rabbit might not particularly like the other litter all that much but even she wouldn't want to see one of them have a run in with all of those ravens, especially when Blackavar was still recovering from the last attack and they were still close to the birds nesting site.

How was she going to vanquish evil and make a name for herself if she didn't get her paws dirty? No hero ever was made by cowering and talking about doing good! "I'll be fine," she said, quite confidently, and took off without any further ado for the trees.
They were just birds, right? How hard could it be?

Rabbit laid there with a stunned look on her face for a few moments after Glory turned and walked towards where the birds lived. That pup was crazy! Rabbit avoided that place at all costs and even then the birds were completely vicious to her and Blackavar. "She'll get hurt for sure." She said to the dead rabbit still laying in the crook of her front legs. While Rabbit may have looked upon the other litter as enemies she hated seeing anyone get hurt. Indecision rolled through her mind, she could stay here and be safe, or she could follow the pup and possibly get hurt along with her. "What do you think?" She asked of her friend.
With a firm nod of her head Rabbit knew just what to do. Gently she scooped up Blackavar into her maw and slowly padded off after Glory. They would keep their distance of course, not wanting a repeat of what had just happened not long ago, but she was curious as to just what the pup would do and how the crows would react. So trying to be as inconspicuous as possible Rabbit crawled along slowly, body close to the ground, Blackavar held safely in her mouth, ears alert and eyes on Glory up ahead.

Glory was the image of confidence as she strode, head and tail held high, into the thicket of trees. She nearly exuded pure moxy. "Oy! Birds!" She yelled up, into the trees, craning her neck tack to see them. "I've got a bone to pick with you!"
Tough-talk -- that was a specialty of the little she-wolf, practiced through many a conversation with Rabbit's brother. Her bark was certainly bigger than her bite, but she didn't know that yet. After all, she'd never had the chance to really fight anyone before; she'd had her little scuffles, her rough play....but never a real, true fight like this. Truth be told, she was really rather excited about it.
So, hackles raised and fur on end, the pup reclined back to her haunches, staring up at the trees with narrowed eyes, waiting for one to make a move. "...Don't make me come up there."

Rabbit was only willing to get so close to the stand of trees that the crows made their home. So when she found a bush that would provide her cover but still allow her to see Glory's progress she hunkered down behind it and gently set Blackavar down so he could continue to rest. Eyes peered out from between the leaves as she watched Glory stop at the trees...then she started yelling at the birds. This pup was strange indeed, and while Rabbit worried that the pups actions would not only bring harm to Glory but to herself as well she stayed as motionless behind the bush as possible.
"Don't worry," she whispered to her rabbit friend as he lay at her paws. "I think we are safe here. The crows will go after Glory before they think to come after us." And that would allow Rabbit to get her and her friend to safety should anything bad happen...which knowing her luck was pretty much a guaranteed thing.

Crows are opportunists.
They're not cowards. But, as a rule, they won't start a fight they don't think they can win. And, besides, Glory had nothing to offer them.
A murder of them -- that's what they were called, of course, a murder of crows, Glory had heard that somewhere -- had roosted up in the top branches of the trees, beaks tucked away into wings or else beady black eyes peering down at her, almost laughingly. None of them were within reach, and the trees were all far too old and smooth-sided for her to even consider climbing after them even if she could.
Glory's fur ruffled. "This isn't working," she announced, to no one in particular. She peered around herself. "....what I need is some bait."
Then, without really thinking about the implications, she called casually over her shoulder. "Hey, Rabbit? Can I borrow Blackavar?"

From the safety of her hiding spot Rabbit watched Glory as she tried to lure the crows out. But it seemed the crows were unwilling to fall into the pups little trap. Then out of no where Rabbit heard the worst thing ever, even worse than some of the thinks she father had said to her. Immediately she picked up Blackavar and stood, no longer wishing to hide. "I knew you were just like the others." She called out easily around Blackavar's body, her voice as clear as if she hadn't been holding the dead rabbit at all. To think for a moment she had actually thought that perhaps her and Glory could become friends.
Turning Rabbit started to pad away, at a quick pace no less. She did not wish to stay around here for two reasons. First being Glory, and the second being the crows. "Don't worry, I'll keep you safe." Rabbit whispered to Blackavar as she hurried away. "She won't hurt you."

Gah! Why did she have to be so sensitive? Glory was just being practical.
"Wait!" She called, wheeling out of the clearing and bounding after her. "Don't run away! I'm not gonna let it...er, him...get hurt." This was so ridiculous. But, dammit, she was committed. "I promise! I just want to help..."
She had the definite suspicion this wasn't working out in her favor. Ah well, probably for the best.
