Rorret hadn't been with these strange wolves for very long, to be fair, but so far he was finding the experience quite agreeable. They were certainly better than his worthless mother, and -- shadow-spawned demons or not -- seemed friendlier towards him as well. After all, it had been they who offered him a place to stay and a bite to eat, when it was mother who had abandoned him to begin with. It was unfortunate that he had to be stuck here with Collier, certainly, but some things were unavoidable. All things considered, the arrangement seemed favorable, and he was fairly pleased with his new home -- as pleased as the intelligent young wolf could ever be with anything, considering the rigorous scrutiny he placed upon all things.

Emboldened by a full belly and a sure place to sleep for the night, the pup rose to his paws and set about exploring his new home. Collier was asleep, either from exhaustion or some sort of shock-induced temporary coma -- Rorret didn't know precisely and really didn't much care. It was best to get his bearings without his coward of a brother tagging along behind him, whimpering and mewling and saying such incredibly stupid things as he was prone to do.

And so, with the fearlessness bestowed only to the very young, Rorret set off to explore the territory, head held high and eyes eagerly taking in the sights.

Dark forepaws were followed by a lighter hind pair scraping along the dusty earth until all stopped and slid down until the claws were up, not touching the soil and the body they carried was relaxed on the ground. The paws crossed before a teal and gray tipped muzzle sat down on them. Blinking equally slate eyes, the wolf glanced about the area, not noticing how his brows were upturned and his ears pulled back. What was happening to the Brotherhood? Danel had left...the life of the pack, their god-alpha, had abandoned them in what he at least hoped was the search for the traitor, but was there really any proof of that? He shook his head, not wishing to think of such things now. Elapse had a new alpha to look to now. A young and violent one, one determined to find the traitor and end him.

And where did that leave Elapse. The adult didn't even know. Sure he was to be the pup caretaker he took it, not willing to give up his only job and joy in the pack, but was his career even less valued now? He let out a soft sigh. None of this mattered.

One little spark of hope came sometime earlier when he had gotten news that there were new pups being brought in. Elapse had no care as to how they came to him, but that they were to be under his wing. Still, he had yet to be introduced and didn't feel the need to go trotting through the dens interrupting the sleep he was sure they needed. He could wait to see them at a more opportune time.

Only a few minutes later Elapse was raising his head, having heard the shuffle of little paws. Looking to his left he gave a curious expression. What was this? It seemed his suspicion was right, but what crawled and roped around the little one's body? Had vines looped around him, tangling over his fur? Where did he get the scraps of...whatever it was? Elapse almost smiled, sitting up as to greet the wolf, letting the younger come to him first.

Rorret's ears flicked, catching the footfalls of one approaching, and he turned mismatched eyes upon the cloaked figure. His brows furrowed, eyes narrowing in an expression of investigation, thoroughly examining this male in a way which did not fit a pup so small. There was an intelligence and wisdom behind those eyes that was unnerving, a coldness that hung about him and aged him prematurely.

He was, however, gifted with the complete fearless arrogance of a child, and he swaggered over to the dark figure, head and tail held high and defiant. "You're one of them," Rorret announced, pointing out the obvious as he drew into the space of the slate-colored male. The long ribbon of cloth that he carried with him wound its way around his paw, almost without his knowledge as he drew it meditatively between his paws. "My brother thinks you are a demon. Monster. Retsnom." His brow furrowed, rolling the word around on his tongue and finding that it pleased him. "Are you?"
