Riker McCann

Name: Riker Harper McCann
His name was Riker Starmount until Fall 2025.

Nickname: N/A

Gender/Pronoun: He/Him/His

Age: 14 15 16 17

Birthday: February 28th, 2008

Sign: Pisces

Gemstone: Bloodstone

Blood Type: O-

Fav. Food:
  • French Onion Soup (but he has to be careful about the ingredients in it, such as coconut oil or coconut milk).
  • Hearty, savory foods (like pot roast, grilled meats, and sandwiches).
  • Food made specifically for him because someone consciously took his allergy into account when cooking.

    Hated Food:
  • Coconut. He’s severely allergic to it.
  • Overly sweet foods. He’ll eat it to be polite, but wouldn’t be happy about it.
  • Overly complicated plates with tiny portions. He wants to eat food, not art.

School/Occupation: Azure Valley Academy, graduating class of 2026

    Hobbies:

      Training and Athletics
Sports are no longer about résumés or approval. Instead, they’re about capability. Riker still plays baseball (third base by preference) and runs cross country and track, but training has become more deliberate and personal. He wants to be strong enough to protect the people he loves, to endure whatever happens, and to trust his body to respond when he needs it to. Conditioning, strength, and stamina training give him a sense of control and purpose. Physical exhaustion is grounding and helps to quiet the noise in his head.

Video Games (Single Player and Trusted Multiplayer)
Video games remain one of Riker’s few true escapes. He still prefers single-player, story driven games where choices matter and outcomes feel earned. Multiplayer games are no longer off-limits, but only with people he trusts. With friends, competition becomes playful rather than performative. He’s competitive, sure, but not showy. He doesn’t need to prove anything. Games are a space where he can exist without being watched or judged.

      Yard Work and Physical Contribution
Riker spends a lot of time helping around the yard — mowing, trimming, hauling debris, clearing weeds, maintaining equipment — anything that needs doing. Zac has shown him how to safely use the yard tools, and Riker took to it immediately. There’s satisfaction in clear results. A cut lawn, a stacked pile of wood, a space made usable again, a garden for new growth. He doesn’t talk much while he works, and rarely asks if help is needed — he just notices and steps in. Part of him still wants to prove he’s useful, that he earned his place there, but there’s something genuinely cathartic about the tasks. And contributing to Zac and Evan’s home makes the space feel more like his too.

    Virtues:

      Decisive
Riker does not freeze in a crisis. He acts. Chooses. Moves forward even when the path isn’t clear or clean or guaranteed. He’s strong-willed, determined, and willing to bear consequences rather than hesitate and lose out on what could have been accomplished. Where he falters is not from danger, but from introspection. When the decision involves his own worth, he can stall, second guessing himself in ways he never would for others.

      Firecely Protective
His friends are everything. Riker may still be awkward around tears and emotional vulnerability, but he will defend the people he loves without hesitation — verbally, physically, and magically if necessary. Protection is how he expresses care. Especially as Reims, this instinct becomes practically absolute: he is willing to put himself between danger and others without considering the cost.

      Attentive and Vigilant
Riker no longer watches the room to form an image for others to see, but he still watches. He notices who’s uncomfortable, who’s quiet, who’s being cornered. His vigilance has shifted from self-promotion to more of a threat assessment. He keeps track of people’s boundaries, moods, and behaviors, especially when something feels off. This attentiveness means he has an early-warning system for himself, even if he doesn’t always explain what he’s noticed to others.

    Flaws:

      Combative
Riker has a sharp tongue and even shorter fuse than he’d like to admit. He antagonizes opponents instinctively, using snark and provocation as both a weapon and a shield. While this can be effective in combat or intimidation, it also escalates situations unnecessarily. He doesn’t pick fights to look cool anymore, instead it’s simply how his anger and instincts are expressed.

      Defiant
Authority is conditional in Riker’s individual world. Adults and leaders he respects get his loyalty without question, but those he doesn’t trust are met with resistance, mockery, or open defiance. He bristles when pressed for personal information and shuts down when boundaries are pushed. His defiance is less about rebellion now and more about self-preservation.

      Self-Sacrificial to a Fault
Riker does not believe he deserves forgiveness, but he believes others deserve safety. This leads him to take on blame, punishment, or risk far beyond what’s reasonable. He will put himself in harm’s way not out of heroism, but penance. He’s trying to earn redemption through action, even when no one is demanding it of him. This makes him reliable… but also dangerously willing to suffer in silence.

    PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

    Eyes: Wine red.

Hair: Dark brown, bordering on shaggy. Riker tries to tuck some of it behind his ears, but it’s just short enough to come loose despite his best efforts. His bangs frequently fall into his eyes. (15) Dark brown, with the ends of his bangs dyed red. When loose it falls to his mid-back, but he usually keeps it in a low ponytail. His bangs are long enough that he can push them out of his face if he desired. (17)

Face: Conventionally attractive with well proportioned features, Riker could win more people over with a genuine smile. Unfortunately, those are rare. Riker sneers more than he smiles, and the smiles he does consent to show are carefully crafted.

Skin Tone: Riker has a medium caucasian skin tone with no freckles or blemishes.

Body Type: Athletic from playing sports, but nothing too difficult to maintain. Riker is currently 5’7” (15) 5'10" (17) tall.

Clothes: Riker isn’t too fussy about clothing and tends to be most comfortable in jeans and t-shirts. He prefers dark colors and neutrals. He almost always wears long sleeves, even in the summer.

    Profile revised Jan 2, 2026.

    Knight Title: Reims, of Ganymede

Sustainable Wonder submitted on March 14, 2025

    Weapon & Magic

Page Weapon: A dull letter opener decorated with stained glass.

Squire Weapon: A dull ceremonial short sword of stained glass.
When Reims channels his magic, the lust for battle courses through him and his strength is increased, allowing him to hit twice as hard as he normally would. Every time his weapon makes contact, there is an extravagant burst of colorful light from his weapon, as if catching and shattering light even without a light source. This can be distracting but does not cause additional damage. His magic pool lasts for 30 seconds.

Knight Weapon: A dull, extravagant ceremonial sword decorated with stained glass.

Alternate Knight Weapon: An extravagant black and jeweled gauntlet on his right hand and forearm.

      Knight Magic:
When Reims channels his magic, the lust for battle courses through him and his strength is increased, allowing him to hit twice as hard as he normally would. Every time his weapon makes contact, there is an extravagant burst of colorful light from his weapon, as if catching and shattering light even without a light source. The colorful light manifests into glass shards, always directed at his target. There are never more than three at a time, and no larger than his palm, that causes the sensation of moderate to severe lacerations. Players can choose to take lasting damage. His magic pool lasts for 45 seconds.

      Secondary Knight Magic:
With the swing of his sword or throw of his fist, shards of red stained glass rapidly shoot up through the ground in a straight path towards his opponent, easily covering the max distance of fifteen feet in a second. These shards can grow up to four feet in height and nearby targets will be overwhelmed by their extravagant beauty. A wave of indulgence may prompt them to stand still and admire them. The shards will crumble as soon as the magic is no longer being channeled. Only one path of shards can exist at a time. If struck, the exposed, sharp edges of glass can cause the sensation of moderate to severe lacerations. Players can choose to take lasting damage. This magic pool lasts for 45 seconds.

    Summon

Trinket: A red gem set within the symbol of Ganymede. Reims wears it on the left side of his chest.
Summon: Winged lion. Fur is mostly dark silver or pewter with a black mane and dark silver, black, red, and purple iridescent wings. The feathers seem to sparkle like stained glass, similar to Reims’ weapon. When summoned, the lion will lash out with claws and teeth, using its wings to knock enemies back. Players can choose to avoid damage or take temporary or lasting damage at their discretion; the lion’s primary goal is to protect and defend against enemies and it will lash out forcefully to do so.
      Obtained: Beneath the shattered heaven

    Enhancements and Permanent Items

      Article of Strength

      Article of Resilience

Fractured Crystal: A palm-sized crystal shard with dark clouds and a black tar that swirls inside of it; it has faint cracks along its surface.
A fragment of the crystal from within the strange pocket dimension during the 2022 Star Festival. The user must hold the Fractured Crystal in the palm of their hand and slash through the air. Once per day they can tear a rift in space and pass through it to another location. While you may pass through immediately to your destination of choice (on the same plane of existence) you may also get trapped in a strange, dark dimension. This between-space is full of an oppressive air and a dark, sticky tar like substance covers all surfaces. There seem to be untapped amounts of energy here, and characters that drain energy may find this a surprising advantage while gathering energy. Time seems to pass strangely in this weird dimension and while you may feel like you’re here for up to two hours at a time, you may actually be gone anywhere from a few minutes up to an hour. If you are sucked into the strange portal, you will always be deposited at your location of choice afterwards. In rare situations, up to one other person may be sucked into the strange space as well as the wielder, but they will both be stuck in the between space and will feel significantly drained by the time they come out the other side.

Enchanted Weapon: This Enhancement gives weapons an additional magical enhancement that allows the weapon to hover nearby and gives the character a bit of control over their weapon when it's not in their hand. While they may manipulate how and where the weapon hovers (always within ten feet of them, but they can summon it to that range if it is further away) they will never wield it to the capacity as they would if they were holding it. It is incredibly difficult to wield mid battle without extensive practice, as it requires extreme focus to manipulate the weapon beyond allowing it to hover nearby, but under calmer circumstances the weapon can be mentally controlled to some degree. The ability to manipulate the weapon somewhat is most useful if incapacitated or trying to do a surprise attack, when there is time to focus on how to wield the weapon. No matter how much a character practices, it will always be impossible to telepathically control the weapon as if they were physically wielding it. Third stage characters may manage to make loose or sloppy attacks with their weapon but this will be difficult to control in stressful circumstances like battle. Learned enhancement discovered on Fang.

      Chrysocoin of Comfort:
A small, exquisitely carved, wooden coin with a chrysocyon paw carved into it. The coin itself is a light wood, almost birch in appearance, and the paw is stained to a rich mahogany dark shade. Rub the coin over the paw, and a feeling of comfort will embrace you, as if you've just had a long conversation with a good friend of yours. It can be used once per day, and the magic lasts for up to ten minutes in non battle environments. Obtained here.
