Caedus
Art by Guine and Blue Caedus is the last in the line of nobility for his natural world of Velenia, and the synthetic world of Velencya that developed after its destruction. He is the unawakened Sailor Velenia, and has a mutated, warped starseed that does not appear possible to awaken. When his homeworld, Velenia, was attacked by a war-faring species, the Council of Elders attempted to forcefully awaken him with the power of a Royal Senshi to reclaim and restore their world. They failed to awaken him and he now has an incredibly volatile, powerful starseed.
Velencya's Council of Elders decided that the best course of action was to return Caedus' starseed to the Cauldron to be reborn, and tasked the leader of the budding Vanguard and Caedus' best friend,
Commodore Lyndin, with the task. One thousand years ago, just before the fall of the Silver Millennium, Caedus and the Vanguard traveled to Earth to meet with Queen Beryl and discuss their alliance. Under the impression that they were meeting to secure peace for his people, when Beryl attacked he thought she had betrayed him. He was separated from Lyndin and the rest of the Vanguard and thought Beryl killed them; he was accidentally corralled into the Rift. Caedus escaped the attempt on his life but was trapped in the Rift for a thousand years.
When Caedus escaped, he appeared first in Destiny City as
a shrouded figure, cloaked in tattered robes and mystery. He had two goals: destroy the Negaverse, and return home. He came with crystals that could gather energy when willingly offered, and called the forces of Order with a proposal. He was able to negotiate a plan of attack with the forces of Order to strike an attack on the Negaverse. After gathering energy, Caedus was able to open a portal into the Dark Kingdom, allowing the forces of Order to ambush them.
Though they failed to destroy the Negaverse, the invasion on Negaspace was successful, and Caedus eventually gathered enough energy to return to Velencya. Though he was gone for a few years, he returned with
The Vanguard, and elite force of Velencians, led by
Commodore Lyndin. Caedus thought the Vanguard was there to help him strike a killing blow to the Negaverse, but was deceived again; Lyndin was tasked once more with recovering his starseed to send it to the Cauldron in the hopes that his starseed could be reborn and he would awaken as a Senshi in his new life. During the would-be attack on Metallia, it was revealed that Lyndin had struck some sort of bargain with the Negaverse; Lyndin pulled Caedus' starseed and attempted to leave with it, but was overpowered during the battle and his starseed was returned.
Aware that the Elders on Velencya want him reborn, and that Lyndin and the Vanguard may want his starseed, Caedus is now stranded on Earth and must navigate relationships carefully. He understands that the synthetic world of Velencya is dying, and that it is believed the only way to restore their true homeworld of Velenia is to have a Senshi, but he is unwilling to risk that his starseed cannot be repaired, and he does not want to die. He is looking for any other way to restore life on his homeworld and protect Earth.
Caedus remains in Destiny City and tends to linger in less populated areas; he utilizes the hospitality of generous Order characters and often stays with them, though never for more than a few days at a time. He is wary of any unknown powers, powerful crystals, or Royal crystals. He has a distinct energy signature that he can suppress with crystals, and he tries to lie low. Given his history, Caedus is cautious around everyone; he will always try to avoid Chaos energy signatures, but will generally allow Order characters to approach him. He is
very cautious around Vanguardians, particularly because he assumes they are all aligned with Lyndin and are attempting to get his starseed, but he supports his people and will always give them a chance.
During Caedus' original arrival, the forces of Order set up a
database collecting information on him.
