Commodore Lyndin
Art by Guine and Blue Commodore Lyndin is the official leader of
The Vanguard. He is a Velencian: an alien species that comes from the synthetic world of Velencya, though he also has the honor of being one of the last remaining Velenians, born on their true homeworld of Velenia. He stands an impressive seven foot, two inches tall, and is in peak physical condition. His size is impressive but his strength even more so. He is muscular and has an imposing presence tempered only by his kind smile and respectful nature.
He is well trusted on Velencya; he is friendly, wise, dependable, and a team-player. He is always looking at what’s best for Velencya, and the Vanguard is his life’s work. He wants it to succeed and he
strongly wants to reclaim their original homeworld. He is seen as a hero to his people, and is revered almost as a deity figure. He works excessively and is incredibly intelligent and brave; he has made
many trips to secure resources to see his people succeed, and he isn’t known for failure. He has been involved in the training of
every member of the Vanguard and gives patient, supportive advice and leadership. He is diplomatic, but can be assertive when needed, and is an expert at making fast, necessary decisions.
Lyndin is a role model to everyone on Velencya, and has been for nearly nine hundred years. Lyndin was part of the original Vanguard that traveled with Caedus to Earth to meet with Queen Beryl a thousand years ago. The Negaverse attacked the group and Caedus believed this to be her betrayal. However, the Vanguard had planned the attack on Caedus in the hope that he would be killed so his broken starseed could be extracted and returned to the Cauldron so a true Senshi could awaken. Lyndin believes that the only way to bring their battered homeworld back to life is by awakening the Senshi.
Sacrificing Caedus was the hardest thing he’d ever done, but when he learned that Caedus had survived--and returned to Velencya--he was committed to finishing the job. The Council of Elders on Velencia concoted the original plan, and pushed again to finish the job. Lyndin knows that their synthetic world will not last forever, and he knows that they
need to create a stable world where they can grow and flourish. However, he is concerned that there are dark forces in the Chaos and he believes that the only reason Earth has survived for this long may be because of Metallia’s protection over it.
He has what appears to be a loose alliance with the Negaverse: in exchange for some Velencian technology, they will give the Vanguard the freedom to search for Caedus. Lyndin's involvement with the Negaverse has generally secured safety from them for the Vanguard, allowing them to do as they please. Lyndin does not make an effort to get in the Negaverse’s way but he does not seem to agree with all of their choices and believes that all life should be respected and honored. He understands necessary sacrifice for the good of the many, and he is willing to use his position and his resources to secure the safety of his people through this alliance. He does not expect all members of the Vanguard to follow him in this path, but he does expect them to continue their goal: find a way to restore life on Velenia and to fortify their defenses. He expects the Vanguard to help him find Caedus so they can return his starseed to the Cauldron, but he encourages everyone to continue researching if they think they can come up with something else.
He does not
want to kill Caedus, but he knows that Caedus can never awaken as the Senshi and everything seems to indicate that Velenia cannot be restored without one. He hopes that they will find another way to restore their world without killing Caedus, but he knows they don’t have time and he is desperate to make progress.
Lyndin guides the Vanguard; he is capable of issuing missions, guiding them, and promoting them. He will always do his best to protect them and he respects and appreciates all of them. While he currently spends most of his time in the Dark Kingdom, keeping his eye on things and making sure the Negaverse is upholding their end of the bargain, he can meet anyone in Destiny City, either as he is or in a civilian glamour. He is presently healing from injuries sustained during
a great battle so is forced to take it easy.
