Ordered he had been, so obedient he would be. Labyrinthite wanted to know more about the walking corpse NPC, so Aue would try to seek the craven fellow out and see whether or not he would be able to learn anything of use...let alone anything that would be worth passing along to American McGee's General and his pack of subordinates. Will he even be available? Is this even worth my time? Aue had very little interest in talking to Caedus for the sake of talking to him, though there was a bit of interest in hearing about just what the hell had happened with the 'invasion'. So many questions and nothing towards answers until - and if - he managed to find the cloaked figure and his crystals. Ah, that's right...I have to get one for the General...I wonder what he'll try doing with it. Best to not tell him my plans..no doubt he'll look poorly on my choice of alignment.So the lemon-scented senshi lurked about the hill where he'd been summoned that first time, knowing he would probably have to walk around a bit to find his mark, but also knowing that if he didn't try he'd be punished.

Though Caedus had found himself wandering a greater distant from the hill he had originally stayed, some lingering sentiment kept drawing him back there. In his absence, it seemed as though the hill had drifted into a spot of uneventfulness. Caedus was always moving; he never stayed in the same spot for longer than a few days. He was gathering energy still—slowly, but he had to rely on the charity of others and it was never easy. Tonight, the temperatures were picking up. Even with the sun down it was still warm, and his usual hiding place in the woods granted little breeze. He made his way to the hill, remembering the sight of lights on the horizon, and the cool breeze. For one who was supposed to be so observant, he seemed oblivious of the senshi's presence when he emerged from the tree line. He was entirely focused on the stars, the lights in the sky. He was in his own little world, even if he was still trapped on this one.

When Caedus finally showed up - seemingly oblivious of the senshi and his presence - Aue nearly sighed with relief. I don't like to think what Labyrinthite might have done if I were unable to find him... Not that he were a coward or anything of the sort, but he'd gained a decent idea of what the General was capable of and did not wish to find himself on the wrong side of that scythe if he could help it. For a moment, the senshi simply watched the cloaked figure in his enjoyment of the evening, but then he stepped forward and cleared his throat. Making small talk was obnoxious, but also innocuous and seemed to be something many in Destiny City delighted to partake in, so Aue made the effort that Pasi would not have. "Nice night. You're Caedus, right?"

Caedus stiffened and lowered his gaze to meet that of the Senshi before him. "I am," he said after a moment of pause. He seemed to gather his robes up around him, retreating a bit into himself. It was a defensive maneuver, and though it offered him little real protection, it offered him peace of mind. "You have the advantage of knowing my name, but I do not recall yours. Have we met?"

Aue noted the way Caedus seemed to close himself off, but took no offense to it. Whether the crystal-panhandling RPG NPC were doing it for wariness or comfort was none of his concern, honestly - as long as the guy? continued to interact with him, it was all the same to the senshi of Lemons, though he did try to keep his body language open and reading 'harmless' as much as possible. "Oh, yeah. Uh we didn't meet, but I was at the first meeting you called? Before the Rift fiasco." In low light, Aue's eyes were hard to read, though his tone had a suggestion to it that he did not trust Caedus - which, he didn't. Because he was smart. "I'm called Aue, senshi of lemons." Cocking his head a bit and mentally sighing over having to make small talk with anyone, the brunet delivered another line. "I didn't get a crystal, didn't come to the next meeting, and didn't almost die because of a really piss-poor idea and zero battle plan. So I don't have anything against you personally like some of the others might." Was that harsh? Probably, but it was also true as far as Aue understood. Not that all the blame lay within the cloak-wearing construct before him - the senshi and knights that had charged in blindly without a proper plan or anything were just as culpable as Caedus. "I think it was stupid, what you all did, but that's not what I'm here for." For all Aue's words might have been harsh if taken plainly, his tone and attitude on delivery wasn't accusatory or aggressive, it was more the bulky senshi were just stating facts...as others might discuss the weather. "I wanted to ask you about your crystals. Like, do you still need energy? 'Cause I'd be willing to trade that for some information, if you're interested." Straightening, but looking back at the sky rather than Caedus, Aue inwardly sighed at himself: he knew that most didn't respond well to his direct and blunt nature, but could only hope it wouldn't be badly received. "Mostly about what sorts you have, what they do. That sort of thing."

Caedus was quiet for a moment and regarded Aue with an unreadable expression. He accepted the words but did not choose to speak of Aue's commentary. Regardless of the tone, it was clear that Caedus received the message. He remained cloistered within himself and shrugged shortly after. "Yes, I need energy," he said finally, almost begrudgingly. It was not something he was proud of. "The crystals I was giving out were designed to collect and store energy. I have many, left. But I discussed this with the group, at the meeting you attended. I can only assume you are asking me of something else. I have other crystals," he confirmed, though seemed wary of divulging too much energy. "Though many are far from useful. I do not have weaponry, or tools. Those crystals were used a long time ago, when I was preserving myself in the Rift. My crystals remind me of home, and all the places I have been. What interest do you have in them? "

Aue watched Caedus accept his critique, watched him withdraw further, and accepted these things as necessary. If nothing else, he was a pragmatic person and could accept that the things he had to say wouldn't always be well received...especially not when said things were about failed mass attacks on enemy strongholds. He has guilt. Good. There should be guilt, but not all for him. Others share this blame as well. "Curiousity. I am an engineer, we like to know how things work. You are something of a puzzle with moving parts. It's fascinating." Five truths to cover his omission, the most important reason: because he'd been bade to do so. "A strange being comes to my planet, calls me up on the psychic hotline, asks for energy donations, has insider information on my opponent....any reasonable, logic-loving person would be interested in knowing more." Aue's tone hardened, "And if they do not, then they are fools." But we already know they are fools, don't we? Yes, the second meeting tells us this. Strange how many of the Order combatants survive when they have the self preservation instincts of small children."Give me-- " Aue stopped and started over, trying to inject some niceties into his request, "I would like to see one of your energy-gathering crystals." He was trying to be polite, it just wasn't easy; he would have asked to see some of the others as well so that he might inspect and compare, but he had a feeling that Caedus would refuse. He would have been right to refuse that much. Aue would have. The Space Cauldron I'm so sorry he's terrible @___@;;;

Caedus continued to watch the Senshi with a wary eye, but beyond his caution he was mostly unreadable. He must have trusted the Senshi, to some extent, because after a moment he reached into a well hidden pocket on his robes an extracted a single crystal. He held it plainly in his palm but seemed reluctant to hand it over--most likely because of the closeness it would cause. He overcame whatever internal conflict he’d been having and offered the crystal. “I just want to go home,” he said slowly. Apparently, ideas of revenge could wait; Caedus was not going to make the same mistake twice--and not without something greater to offer than just access to the Negaverse. Still, despite the apparent issues of the attack, he did still seem to have some desire to prove himself. To prove, at least, that he did not mean to create an enemy with the Senshi. "If you have questions, I will answer what I can. I understand how curiosity works. The need to understand how things work. To understand the puzzle. It is not my desire to make you uncomfortable. I will leave this planet as soon as I am able, and I will cause you no more trouble. Not like before, at least. I hope."

Aue did not try to rush or press Caedus to give him a crystal or even to speak to him again; it wasn't as though he were particularly fond of being close to other folks either...and under the circumstances, it made a lot of sense for the other being to be wary of him. When the crystal was finally offered, the senshi accepted it, turning the multi-faceted gemstone slowly: it literally looked like just some crystal cut for a child's necklace or something...but higher quality and with an eerie way of catching the light of the moon. "That I understand, completely." I'm not from here either, it's a strange place...even after so long. But Aue said none of that to Caedus; he was not there to foster a friendship - something his own family would have said was probably impossible - or anything that involved, just an exchange of information. "Thanks. I appreciate your candor." Since the weird corpse-like alien was feeling chatty, Aue pushed his own wont to abscond now that he had the crystal down and engaged in some conversation while they were both willing to 'not cause trouble' for one another. "I wondered, these crystals take energy in a similar process to the Negaverse...how do you make use of it? Do you absorb the energy transdermally? Ingest the crystals? Put them in some sort of mechanism? How much energy fills a single crystal - or is that unquantified?"

“I confess that I do not know the specifics of how the Negaverse gathers energy, but there is nothing sinister about these crystals. On my planet, we use them for many things. They are common in every household. We could give them to our children and not worry for their well-being. The crystals do not have a limit for how much they can drain.” He paused and then clarified, “At least, not one that I think you will find. The smaller crystals hold less, but they are designed to last for long periods of time and are capable of holding a sizable quantity of energy. We supply energy to the crystals by making contact with them, but we cannot reabsorb the energy. How they are used, and how the energy is siphoned from them, is dependent on what the energy is going towards. We have machines that make better use of them. Ingesting them is ill advised, I do not think they would digest properly. Breaking the crystal can provide energy to those nearby, but it is impossible to accurately dictate where that energy goes and you would lose a large portion of them. The energy can be transferred to another crystal, though. If you have one that can make use of it or needs a charge.” He seemed comforted to talk about the crystals, though a bit wary all the same. It was clear that despite his nervousness or whatever anxiety he might have felt, the crystals were a source of comfort. He had visibly relaxed while speaking of them, and though he was wringing his hands together slowly he did not seem so turned in on himself.

Aue frowned thoughtfully at Caedus' admission - had he not lived trapped in the Negaverse for ages? How had he not learned more about his captors in all that time? The sharp-tongued senshi was about to say something to that effect when he stopped himself; just because one was kept captive by a people or group did not mean one would learn all their secrets. Caedus had come to them at large with much information gleaned over time, the function of energy use (and misuse) within the Negaverse could very well be one of those things that they guarded carefully even from their captives. "I see. And they behave similarly for humans, which is why you were not worried to hand them to literal children." No accusation stood in the senshi's words, they simply were an observation that was fascinating to him. A limit I wouldn't be able to find...I wonder how certain he is of that. While he may have thought it, the tall brunet again chose to keep silent on the matter; it would have been counter productive to argue when he'd have a crystal and could test it out himself. The stupid frat boys and sorority sisters would be perfect to experiment upon, though he had a feeling Caedus would not support his actions in that arena. He seemed too noble to be properly practical, like some of the Order Senshi and Knights were. "Your crystals and their machinery sounds fascinating. It's unfortunate there is no way to build one here...or is there, perhaps?" Keep him talking about this, the information is invaluable scant as it is and he seems willing to speak at length. "I also wonder, how were you able to keep so many crystals from the Negaverse during your incarceration. Do you happen to know if they learned to use crystals via your people?" Had Caedus said something about that before? Aue couldn't remember and his calves itched under the magical hose, distracting him. The Space Cauldron I figure another post from you and then I'll have Aue run off to play with his new crystal toy, since this has gone on long enough xD;; Thank you for indulging me~

Caedus' eyes seemed to squint a bit in thought; his gaze drifted away as if he were wracking his memory for an answer. It wasn't clear if it ever came. When he answered, it was slow and wary, "I do not think they could have taken our information of crystals. We shared information with Earth before the Negaverse, but I do not think it was anything so weaponized as what the Negaerse may utilize. I never gave them any of my crystals. I do not think they knew where I was hiding. I was trapped, certainly, but not guarded. Not by anything but their monsters, deep in the Rift. It was not until the doors opened that I was able to escape." He still seemed thoughtful, trying to find any similarities he knew within the Negaverse's crystals and any of his own. "...My crystals are my treasures. I hid them well. I do not know if I could build any machinery here on Earth. I do not think I have the tools. Or the work space." For a moment, he looked like he might be reconsidering--like it might be a possibility. The emotion disappeared almost immediately though; he sighed. "It would be too dangerous. It could fall into the wrong hands. I cannot give the Negaverse any more opportunities to grow stronger."

"I see." Was all that he said to the alien's explanation as to why the Negaverse had not been able to get their grubby mitts on one - or more - of those crystals. Aue didn't interrupt Caedus while he went through whatever mental gymanstics were required to get him from point a to b to end at a rather subdued c. He knew the look of a man deep in thought, making calculations and weighing the efficacy of them singly and in whole. "Ja, I can see how that would be a concern." Pity, I'm sure that my General and the Pack would be most interested in getting their hands on something like that. And wouldn't he have been rewarded too? Ah well, Aue was not one to dwell on the things he couldn't have, that wasn't productive. "They're pretty strong all on their own, from what I've seen. And more organized, to say the least." He fiddled with his sash for a moment, feeling awkward and quite done with attempting to converse with anyone face to face and wondered if Caedus found it as tedious as he did. "It grows late and I have a life outside this magic. I thank you for coming to speak with me." Aue was trying to be respectful and genuine as Caedus was a great deal older than he; "It is very appreciated." Should have brought something for him, oh well. "Is there-- I could bring something for you to eat and leave it near here."

For all the dangers of lingering in the same area for too long, apparently the draw of food was strong within Caedus. He raised a hand as if to protest but thought better against it. "If you would like, it would be appreciated. But I do not ask of anything. Thank you for the conversation." Talking of his homeworld or his crystals seemed to bring him some degree of comfort--and he had not been attacked, so he could easily count this as a good conversation. He nodded his head in gratitude and seemed content to let Aue continue on with his evening elsewhere.

He is not stupid, this is good. Good to be wary of lingering even when your companion seems your ally. Aue nodded and made mental note to bring something for Caedus the very next day; it was no idle thing, his offer. Finns were not known for platitudes or idle speech: they said what they meant and there was no subtext for politeness sake. "Tomorrow, I will bring you a meal and leave it in the branches so no one else takes it." Again the senshi gave a bit of a nod, pleased well enough with their exchange but also ready to return to his work, to be out of the ridiculous costume that came with being Aue. "You are welcome. It was informative." And he had a crystal to play with. Without a look back or any other parting words, the senshi of Lemons headed away from Caedus to end his evening. -*fin*-
