“OK so… assuming he didn’t get run off by that… bear-snake thing that interrupted one of my date’s with Lena… I… think this was … Ok well I’m hoping. I didn’t exactly keep tabs on the guy since the rift thing.”

He wasn’t sure if he should feel guilty about that or not, it was hard to imagine how an alien like Caedus would be feeling about his personal space after spending ages in the dark, but they’d feel it out as they went, and it seemed fair to check in.

“You got the book right?” Of course she did though, Phact generally came prepared, it was less actually conformation than it was a superstitious gesture to avoid trouble. After all, they kind of figured they had stumbled onto a pretty big deal.
Which was why they were stumbling around in the woods looking for someone who was able to rather effectively conceal his own energy signature. Kind of one of those situations where you might jokingly note that nothing could possibly go wrong.

The overly annoyed look on Phact's face might have been the only answer she should have given Kai when he questioned if she had brought the book. He had been on edge for awhile and it made the senshi of doves wonder if he was this bad at home about the wedding.

Bless Lena's soul if she made it through that day without smacking him at least once.

"Oh dear I forgot the book." Phact said, rolling her eyes before she gave him a soft smile a placed a hand on his shoulder. "Calm down Kai. You aren't an having a baby. Caedus will find us if he wants to be found. If not, we try again another time." Phact knew she was strange. She didn't blame Caedus for what happened that day. She blamed themselves.

Caedus was used to lurking in the shadows, and knowing when to hide and when to make himself known when visitors came around. Sometimes, he made a mistake. Sometimes he hid from those who might be nice, and sometimes he approached those with troubled intent.

He had watched the two as they approached--with caution, for a short while. Until he was certain they meant no harm. He heard one of them mention returning another day; those looking for trouble usually wouldn't go home and didn't generally make plans to return. The ones with conviction enough to return were usually the ones who meant no harm.

For the reason, if not the playful banter between the two, Caedus shifted between the trees. He was not so far away from them, and it would have been difficult to miss him. He walked slowly and deliberately, shrouded still in his robes. When he was close enough to them, he greeted with a soft, gravelly, "Good evening."

Even knowing how well the man... or... alien... could hide... it was still a little surreal to see him appear from the shadows, especially knowing the power he was capable of, and how well he could conceal that power. Still, he was happy to see him, especially not having been sure he'd actually show up. Hard to imagine he'd remember specific faces out of the crowd that night, except perhaps for the ones making threats and snide comments perhaps.

"Caedus!" Kairatos let a grin come over him, pantomiming a light, mocking cuff upside the back of Phact's head for her teasing. "It's good to see you in one piece still, how are you doing out here still?"

Although in spite of the niceties he wasn't entirely able to contain the glee when he added, in spite of his conviction to wait for niceties. "I thought you might like a look at some information we found! I might not have gone looking if it weren't for you!" And a gesture to Phact as he added. "She helped obviously."

Well 'obviously' might be a strong word, but it seemed obvious to him.

Was it possible someone could have looked more annoyed than Phact at that moment? The world may never know but Kai's back might have gotten a hole glared into it.

'She helped obviously'

"Yes, helped and suddenly became chopped liver it appears. Thanks so much. Remind me to let Venice or Havsua help next time." Phact nearly growled as she watched Kai head towards Caedus.

Oh she wouldn't stay mad at the bull. But she would make him pay for the comments later. Logically he was excited and she got that. Still didn't mean she didn't want to take the ancient, one of a kind book and smash it over his big head right then.

Caedus glanced between the two as they bickered; he seemed to be processing the exchange, trying to determine the intent of interaction. It didn’t seem like they were fighting, so he could only assume they were teasing. Humans had a strange way of interacting and though he was slowly getting better and understanding, it still seemed as though he had a lot to learn.

“I am in one piece,” he responded eventually; it was a decent affirmation.

His interest had been piqued; he managed to stand just a bit taller and tilt his head somewhat inquisitively. It did not seem as though he had any intent to play coy; without hesitation, he asked, “What information did you uncover?”

"You're not chopped liver... you... ok just..." He took a deep breath, determined to not be phased by the younger woman's protestations of not getting enough credit.

"OK so, when you lent us the crystals to open a portal... it got me thinking. Because... well... I mean as knights a lot of what we do reflects what agents do. Minimal magic, but we make up for it by being stronger... they get youma... we have summons..." He gestured with his hands because well... it went from there. No need to make a list all night.

"So I started wondering if like your crystals there was an... equivalent of that? I mean the trancendeds sort of do it but in a limited way and that doesn't seem to be group specific. So... I got curious. And then we purified the code as a group, even though I thought we'd pretty much be at 'Camelot and praying' because he's the only royal knight we've seen and purifying people and purifying -cosmic power batteries- is kind of different... so..."

He was rambling. He shrugged, glancing at Phact again. "So we went looking, and we found... well I think it's a lead. I think we found something we lost. I mean there's a statue at my wonder with an inscription but I can't read it, but Phact found a book while she was researching on the moon.... and it's got pictures that go with the statue but also others.... wanna show him or do you want me to go find some onions for you there, Chopped Liver?"

Phact closed her eyes for a moment as she approached Caedus, eyes still glaring holes into the back of Kai's head. Moving past him as she fished the book from her bag, the senshi made sure there was a well placed half kick to the back of the Knight's knee. Not enough to make him fall but enough to throw him off balance some.

Phact had already been flipping the book open to the first of the three marked pages. She had to hope that Caedus followed Kai's overly speeding remarks because she herself knew what was going on and felt as if there were blanks. "What Kai is getting at is the idea of being able to give energy instead of take. Some of our Transcendaned knights and senshi have shown the ability to but everyone else is a no go."

Opening the book to the first image, she flipped through them each so he could see the three groups. The first being a group in chains glaring with anger at a clearly high ranking person. The next had a group all in the same color. Some seemed to smile at the center person and others, annoyed. The third showed a mixed group, all smiling up at the center individual who now seemed to be giving off something around them.

"The statue Kai found on his wonder was like this last one. We were wondering if you happen to have ever heard of anything like energy sharing or groups like this..." She gazed down at the image and bit her lip. "Excluding courts."

Though there were points of Kairatos’ words that Caedus seemed lost—particularly in reference to chopped liver—he nodded. His brows were furrowed beneath the cloak and he kept his lips pursed; when the light of his eyes caught just right, they were both almost visible. Phact earned herself a similar look when she kicked the back of Kairatos’ knee but Caedus remained steady and curious.

When she withdrew the book, he leaned in curiously.

“This is old,” he mused, reaching to brush his fingers over the pages. “And beautiful.”

For a long moment, his eyes skimmed the pages. Slowly, they found their way to Phact. “Courts?” he asked. He seemed to be thinking still; he was too interested in the subject to know nothing.

"Isn't it fantastic? I mean without her digging around for the book I'd still be guessing and hoping my damn wonder would pony up some vaguely helpful memory when I could get away and spend some time there and who knows how long that could take, right?" He bobbed on the kicked leg, reaching around to deliver a light cuff upside the back of Phact's head for her troubles, with an added noise that indicated a little tone of 'cut that out'. "... I think you said you can't read it yet though right?" He added to Phact, credit to her research in a subject others had dismissed. "No Rosetta stone -yet-." He emphasized the 'yet' with a note of confidence. This woman who could find ONE book he needed in the entire damn cosmos? It'd get figured out.

...And then an added thought as he watched Caedus flip slowly through the pages.

"...Can you read it?"

'Courts' didn't ping his interest perhaps to the level which they should have. Senshi had been referring to themselves as courts for a while, for good or ill, and debating their curious relationship with knights, and the idea that there was one that had been involved in a purification had... so far... sailed neatly past like a toy sailboat riding the crest of his own excitement, though he seemed to have realized with a blink that she'd said something that had caught the strange alien's attention, he just wished he'd been more focused on her exact words than on the triumph of their find and her foot.

It brought a smile to her face to watch the male brush his fingers over the pages. There was a care and gentleness about it that made her more at easy with letting him handle the nearly forgotten works.

That easy was snapped out from her with the cuff upside her head and a glare in Kai's general direction. "No, I haven't been able to learn to read the language yet. The only patterns that reoccur are in the numbers." Her hand slipped up the page to the corner and she pointed at a symbol there. "The numbers I have learned but the words. There isn't a pattern to them...nor an Thousand year old dead language to English translation. I'd take even to Greek if I could. " Just something she could reference. Everytime she thought she made progress, something would destroy it....

Thank the heaven for photos and art.

It was though when she felt his eyes flash up to her face that Phact froze. It was a simple ease in which she repeated. "Courts. Groups of Senshi that have come together to work towards a goal...." She bit back her words. "We are finding they have abilities working together we do not possess when we stand alone. Access to things many appear to have never known existed. I haven't ruled out energy sharing related to courts but..." She motioned once more to the third image. "A court is only made up of senshi. This group looks to be a mix of senshi and knights..."

Though Caedus searched their faces for a moment longer, he eventually just focused on the book before him. “Unfortunately,” he said after skimming a few more pages, “This language is unknown to me. I see similarities with another language I am more familiar with, but not enough that I could be of any assistance.”

He squinted his eyes again and leaned closer to try and examine the words before finally shaking his head. “No. I am sorry. I cannot help. I have not heard of energy sharing groups. I have heard of artifacts, of magical talismans, but not people. Not mingled, like this.” He pointed to the image of the mixed group before handing the book back.

As he stood, he shifted positions; the lack of shareable information left him in a state of unease and, as if in an attempt to earn remain useful, he asked, “Do you have other questions? Perhaps I can answer them.”

"Well... thanks for trying." Kairatos did his best not to look disapointed, even slightly, that there was no rosetta stone, or at least, not here. "But hey, I'm glad we could have you look at it. I mean if you hadn't heard anything, no wonder we're having trouble finding anything right?"

He suggested, trying to find a bright side to this dead end. "I... can't think of anything. Can you?" He added, glancing to Phact again. "Unless you can point anyone our way who might want to help us try and... I don't know... I guess we can always try and see what happens if we try and go through the motions as best as we can figure them, but that's a lot more leads to track down, and I don't know if we're rushing it. Might be rushing it, but..."

What did they even have to loose anyway?

"But when have you ever been known to take your time?" Phact finished, accepting the book back and if it was the most precious thing to her. Holding it close a moment longer, she slipped the old item back into the bag she carried.

"Thank you Caedus for taking a look at least. You validated to me at least that this language is unlike anything else. I have spend almost two years with it and barely made any progress outside of learning numbers." There was almost a huff from the senshi as clearly she appeared annoyed over this fact. So much time and so little to show for it...

Blinking quickly, Phact looked from Caedus towards Kai as if to say, one moment. "Before you go Caedus, I do have one more thing." It took her a second to figure out just how to word what was on her mind but, she finally came up with. "Are you sure you are alright? I mean...I know you are physically improving since everything happened but..." And now she was rambling. Inhaling slowly, the super senshi tried again.

"What I meant was is there anything we can do for you? You spent so long trapped from the world that is has to be very different from what you remember. I know I can't send you home...we..." She looked back at Kai. "Can't send you home but maybe we could do something to make your time hear easier? At least open you up to the internet and the crystal trade market?"

There was a clear lack of understanding on Caedus’ face when Phact made her offer. He regarded her with politeness, but bowed his head to decline all the same. It was a clever gesture to hide the tension in his jaw that blossomed when reminded of his entrapment here.

“A gracious offer, but I must decline. I am afraid I have no idea what you are referring to and if at all possible, no matter how tedious, I know I should keep my head low and try to avoid attention. I apologize again, I wish I could have been of more help. When you translate that,” he nodded towards the book in her bag, “I hope you will tell me what it says. If you have time, and would offer me your company, I would be most appreciative. I am afraid you have spiked my curiosity.”

It was not an If, it was a when.

He seemed to have full faith in them.
