Awareness is a strange, strange thing. One moment, there is nothing. The next? There is everything. Iridescent eyes looked up at the stars through the canopy of trees, large ears flicking and small piercings clinking together from her movements. A multi-layered necklace made similar sounds as she began to walk, small chiming clinks as she began to maneuver between trees and underbrush.

Her nose twitched as she searched about, trying to get her bearings. Earth? Check. But was she near any senshi? No. She picked up the pace, the lilac feline moving swiftly through the uneven terrain.

No, she was a bit far off her mark, but she didn't mind the diversion. She enjoyed searching about, though the nighttime hour was hardly perfect for such in depth explorations. Still, she followed her gut, and her nose, curious as to where exactly she was. If such an indicator could be found. There was a bit of a n** in the air, and she shivered, her fur not exactly ideal for such temperatures, but she'd survive provided she kept moving, and found a better place for refuge. Still, she felt like something was... off.

Just a little nagging voice, as she searched about. Surely... something must be out here, no?

In the not-so-far distance, a shadow moved. It was tall, despite being slightly hunched over.

Caedus was not of this world; he was just an alien trying to survive until he had the resources to make his trip home. He found safety in the forest, away from the majority of the war and away from the majority of humans. Some would have understood. Some would have accepted him.

Others, he supposed, would do more harm than good.

He was aware of many things, but he was oblivious to the nearing cat. To him, she might have been no more than a stray creature wandering to its night-time den.

Slowly, Caedus moved to sit on a fallen tree. His bones cracked and the noise was loud enough to be heard even with the distance between the two of them. He sighed heavily and hunched forward, resting his elbows on his knees. His hood was drawn and his eyes settled on something in front of him. A gift—he was eating something.

A branch cracked in the distance and he went rigid; though he did not seem to be aware of the Mauvian yet, he did seem to be on high alert.

Her pupils dilated further in the darkness as a figure moved, stilling her for a moment as she attempted to judge if they were friend or foe. She couldn't feel an aura, and her nose twitched, taking in the air. Human, then?

Onward she went, steps slow as she took in more and more details of the stranger. Layers of dark clothing, his face wasn't visible to her, at least not well with the hood settled over him, though the sounds of his bones cracking like that made her wince.

An old person?

Her ears drooped a little. A hermit? A wanderer? Someone lost?

Her pace picked up, in time for the loud snap of a branch to startle not just her, with her fur prickling and back arching a bit, but also the stranger. Again her ears twitched and swiveled, searching for signs of danger. But none seemed to formulate out of the shadows around them, and Réalta pressed on. Not wanting to startle him--or at least, not frighten him--she began to meow. It felt strange to do it.

"Mrow, mrow," she tried, at least grateful it didn't sound too fake. Her fur flattened, no longer puffed up in her agitation and she tried to approach him from the front, giving him ample time to process friend, friend. Or at least, that was her hope. "Mrrow~?" The large feline sat a small distance from him, head tilted in question, eyes wide as she beheld the stranger. The star on her forehead was pale against even her light fur, a clear, obvious sign of her status and capabilities, to those aware.

Caedus tilted his head just slightly; his golden eyes found the Mauvian with ease and he watched with apparent confusion. He did not move for a moment and remained silent, watching her as she watched him. His body slowly seem to lose some of its rigidity; he wasn’t worried about her presence. He was curious, however.

He cleared his throat—a strange, almost rattling noise—and reached to rub at his neck as if it were sore. When he spoke, it was with a faint echo, like a voice caught in a canyon.

“I do not understand those words. I am sorry. Are you speaking with a different dialect or intentionally trying to mislead me? I know Mauvians are intelligent creatures, so you must forgive me. I do not know as many languages as exist on this Earth. The only Earth language I am moderately proficient in is this one, so you must forgive me. Have you come for a reason, or…?”

Here was exactly the opposite sort of response she anticipated she might receive. Her bright eyes went wide, round ears perked towards the strange sounding person--man? The odd sounds he made concerned her, the quality of his voice making her wonder if he was ill.

But his words still brought a small bubble of laughter to her startled face, standing and slowly approaching him with her head held high. "No, no, forgive me. I was not aware you were familiar with Mauvians." Her nose twitched as she approached, taking in the strange, fresh scent that came off him. As if a light rain had passed through the forest, leaving the world renewed for all its gifts.

"Nor was that a language of Earth, or at least not by many standards. Those were sounds associated with Earth felines, their rendition of communication for human ears, though humans are unable to always comprehend the sounds as explicit speech." Her voice was light, words slow, hoping to offer suitable explanations for her meowing. "Forgive me, I was under the assumption you were someone unaware of Mauvian existence, and would thereby be frightened if you saw a feline speak."

Which was hardly her intention by any means. She watched his form carefully--curiously. He didn't smell human. Yet did not tickle her senses like a senshi, or an agent of Chaos. Coming within a respectful distance, she sat down again, head tilting as her long tail wrapped somewhat around her paws. "No particular reason for being here. I just... woke up. I'm not where I should be, but I do not mind finding my way and exploring until then." There weren't any senshi here, so that alone was her large sign of wrong place, but there were new areas to learn here, and clearly new faces to memorize, even if only one.

"Pardon me, might I ask your name? I am Réalta." Her accent grew thicker as she spoke her name, rail-ta, though a friendly smile, or approximation thereof on a feline face, was offered.

This, Caedus seemed to understand. He had become accustomed to communicating nonverbally; at a few points while she spoke he had nodded to affirm his understanding.

“Réalta,” he repeated, testing the name. It was odd on his lips so he tried again, taking a few seconds to adjust to it. Finally, he seemed like he was content with the name. “It is a pleasure. I have not had so many Mauvians come to visit me, but I suppose I feel a bit of a kindred bond. We may not be from the same planet, but we are alike in that we are not creatures of Earth.”

He bowed his head just slightly. “I am Caedus.” He held the bow for only a second before lifting his head. “May I pry?” It was a rhetorical question; he followed up with his question: “When you say you ‘just woke up’, do you mean, just now? I have never met a Mauvian who has been on this planet for a shorter time than I. You are lost…?”
