Millie had made cookies. And not just any cookies, her favorite cookies. Snowball cookies. Little buttery balls of delicious goodness, surrounding a wonderful surprise cherry inside of them. There was nothing in the world better than snowball cookies.

Along with the snowball cookies, she had made some hot chocolate, putting it into a thermos, and grabbed one of the blankets from the closet in the hallway.

She was going to go and see if Caedus was still there, she wanted to talk to him, wanted to see if he had anything…interesting to say. How many other people from space who were still living was she going to meet after all? Not many…if any others.

Pausing for a moment, the raspberry haired teen grabbed one of her plastic lightsabers, stuffing that into the bag as well.

She powered up when she was a good distance from her house, and made her way to the hill where she had seen the alien before. “Hello! Mr. Caedus, are you still here? It’s Sailor Lenka, I’ve come to see you!”

And she had stuff for him, which was always fun. Stuff was good, and warm drinks on a night like this was even better.

Snow had fallen earlier in the evening; it hadn't been enough that it had stuck to the ground, but Caedus was busy examining an icicle when he heard the Senshi's voice behind him. His bandaged hand was still touching the cool ice crystal when he turned to see who was approaching him.

This one, he recognized.

He lowered his hand and slid it into one of his hidden pockets. "I am here," he announced; he approached, slowly. "It is good to see you, Sailor Lenka," he added. It never hurt to put a face to a name. "What have you come to see me for?"

Lenka grinned, seeming quite pleased that he was happy to see her. “I brought some cookies and hot chocolate for you, I thought maybe we could talk and snack if you wanted. I thought you might like the company, and I wanted to get to know you without forty other people yelling and screaming!”

This was the most excited she had been in a long while. This was a chance to learn something new, the chance to learn something that nobody else would learn…unless they went and asked him things as well. “I brought you a blanket from home too, in case you get cold. Do you get cold? How is earth’s weather different from your planet?”

She drew the blanket out of her bag and held it out. “I have another odd question too, and I know if anyone found out I was asking I’d be laughed at forever I’m sure but…”

The senshi paused and drew out the plastic lightsaber, letting the plastic blade extend. “You don’t…happen to have any of these where you’re from, do you? Because you have the same name as a character from a series I like and…I just want to make sure that…uh…that you’re not from the book. Or like, rather…they didn’t write the book about your people or anything…”

God she sounded stupid, but it was better to get this out of the way early, she was sure.

He nodded when she offered sustenance, and company, and he certainly wasn't going to complain about a discussion not involving forty very loud people.

"I get cold," he replied. "My planet has controlled weather. It is programmed to be as we need it."

He tilted his head at the instrument she produced. "What is that? I do not come from a book. I come from a planet. Is that a weapon?" he asked, and almost reached out to touch it. He retracted his hand quickly, as if second guessing himself if it were.

“If you get cold, go ahead and wrap up! That’s a good blanket, It’s nice and fluffy and warm!” She seemed quite interested in the controlled weather, feeling that it was a really neat concept, to be honest. Never again would plans be ruined by a rainy day…and never again would someone die of heat stroke. It was brilliant.

“Oh, well, that’s okay. And it’s not a real weapon, it’s just plastic. But It does work really well against youma. I’ve been using it with me since I became a senshi…you see I was a chibi so my powers were pretty useless…so it helped. You can touch it if you want, it won’t hurt you. I won’t hurt you with it…it’s just, it’s the main weapon from the books I mentioned to you, so I was just wondering if you had them…It’s silly, I know, I’m sorry.”

Lenka watched him, looking thoughtful. “You don’t like weapons, hm?” Clearly that’s why he didn’t want to touch the lightsaber…maybe. Or maybe he didn’t like plastic. It was a strange thing, especially for someone not from earth.

He did not seem to think her question was silly at all.

"Weapons are very dangerous," he said, finally reaching out to brush his fingers across the plastic. He seemed interested in it, and continued, "It is not wise to play with something you do not understand. Forgive my caution. The weapons of my homeworld can do great damage. We have crystals," he paused, as if debating whether or not he wanted to share the information, and then continued, "Capable of burning through metal. Or with highly explosive properties. We have weapons. I cannot say they look exactly like this," he said, wrapping his fingers around the hilt of her light saber and holding it thoughtfully. "Ours are all white," he said, tapping the plastic blade. "Naturally, at least. Modifications can be made to change the color, but it is superfluous and unnecessarily extravagant. If you focus the flow of the energy from the crystal, it can be used as a blade. But I cannot compare it to any information from a book, I am sorry. Did you make this one yourself?"

Lenka watched him, her excitement building. “Well,” She began quickly, unable to stop herself from giving a little hop. “In the books, the power of the saber, it’s a crystal so I was…I don’t’ know, That and your name just made me wonder…if um…if maybe others from your planet might have come here? Maybe the books and the movies are based on your things…if that’s so, that is literally the most amazing thing I have ever seen or heard or…you’re just so amazing!”

Her eyes were sparkling and she hadn’t felt this…happy about something in a long time. The war had hardened her, that was for sure, but it was so nice to feel…happy again. To feel excited and hopeful.

The senshi’s face grew red when he asked if she had made the saber herself and she laughed. “Oh, no. I bought it, a few years ago. I tell you, they don’t make them as nice as this one anymore…the new ones are such poor quality…and they’re a lot shorter…”

Crystals…that was just one of the most amazing things she had ever heard. “I wish you could stay here with us, Caedus. I want to be friends. But…I understand that you want to get home, I’m going to get so much energy for you, I promise.”

Caedus blinked, head cocking a bit as she shared her theory. "I think you would know if any of my kind were here. We are…hard to miss. But I cannot say. Much has happened in the past thousand years. I would like to think members of my race have come to Earth. I would like to think someone, somehow, has been able to maintain our treaty. Perhaps it is not so impossible."

Or perhaps he did not like crushing someone's dreams. She seemed too excited.

But he couldn't stay, and if he had to lessen one blow, let it be the one that wasn't certain. "I am sorry I cannot stay. But if things go well, perhaps I would return. I thank you for your help, though, Lenka. You are very kind."

He glanced back to her lightsaber.

"…Can you make your own?"

Lenka nodded. “Yeah I guess so…but Star Wars was made back in the seventies so, you never know if George Lucas was visited by one of your kind! It might have happened!” It was her head cannon now. It had to have happened. For real.

When he thanked her, the senshi glowed with pride. “Oh, I’m not all that! I just…you’re really awesome, and I want you to be okay. You’re giving us a great chance to strike back at the Negaverse, and I thank you for that, from the bottom of my heart. I don’t know why some of those…jerks were saying so many awful things…” Her mind drifted to Ganymede and she rolled her eyes at the very thought.

“…But please don’t think we’re all jerks. Honestly.”

She blinked at his question and her eyes flicked to the lightsaber. “Can…can I make my own? I mean…” She could…if she was skilled in things like that, but…honestly she wasn’t sure that she was really up to all of that technological jargon and whatnot…”I don’t know if I could make my own, I mean, if I did, I’d just want it to be real, you know, finding my crystal, going through the trials…”

She let out a wistful sigh. “I’ve always wanted to be a jedi, so I know I’d love to make my own…”

"I do not think you are all…jerks." He tried the word, but it did not seem to fit his vocabulary. "It is logical to be concerned of strangers. I am more impressed in those of you that chose to help me than I am disappointed in those that chose not." He was happy, though, to see her enthusiasm against striking the Negaverse. His anger and hatred towards them burned deep, in a way he suspected many of the Senshi and Knights—and even Mauvians—would never understand.

A thousand years of anger and a thirst for vengeance was hard to replicate in a species that lived barely a tenth of that span.

But she had a passion he did not think could be feigned. He still did not understand much of what she said, but he did not attempt to stop her. Instead, he reached into his robes and searched for a moment, silently. Finally, he pulled out a bag—different from the one he had showed the crowd during the meeting. This one was much sturdier; it was a thick, faded purple, with a braided string. Carefully, he slipped his hand into it, fished around, and then withdrew a crystal. It was not large, but it was wrapped tightly in a thin fabric, and a small string tied it. Upon withdrawing this crystal, he closed the bag and returned it to its hidden spot beneath the folds of his fabric. Carefully, he unwound the string and peeled away the fabric.

In his hands, was a brilliant, blue crystal. It had no energy, no special signature, but it glowed.

"I have had this for many years," he said; he had raised his other arm to hold between him and the glowing crystal in an effort to conceal his face. He looked from it, to her.

"Perhaps when you learn how to make yours, it will aid you."

Lenka grinned, thinking that when Caedus said jerks it sounded pretty funny. She watched him as he seemed to be looking for something in a bag that was in his pocket…and when she saw what he was offering her…a beautiful glowing crystal…something that had to be a saber crystal…a real saber crystal.

Her eyes widened and she reached out a hand that was only shaking a little and took the crystal from him, holding it in her palm for a long moment before very quietly slipping it into her bag, along with her lightsaber.

She hesitated a moment, and finally threw her arms around the strange alien, hugging him tightly, trying to express all of her gratitude towards him. “Thank you. Thank you so, so much. I’m sure that it will help me when I build my own lightsaber…thank you for the opportunity. Thank you for all of your opportunities…”

Caedus tensed immediately with the contact, and it was in his nature to draw away.

But he didn't.

It took only a second to determine that this was not an act of hostility; it was an act of…affection?

"It is the least I can do," he said after an awkward moment of his arms pinned to his side in her hug. "I hope it serves you well. That light has never dimmed, not once in all these years. It will not turn off. If you want to conceal the light, you will need to wrap it tightly. You must take care of it. And perhaps it will take care of you. I hope you get your light…saber. I hope I will see it one day."

Lenka pulled away from the hug and nodded. “Thank you, I…I’m sure you will! She flopped back to where her bag was and pulled out the thermos of hot chocolate and a mug, as well as the tin of cookies she had made. “Well it is getting pretty cold out here, so you cuddle up in that blanket okay, and drink this, it’s nice and warm and wonderful and it’ll keep you warm, and the cookies are my favorites, so I hope you like them!”

She gave Caedus a huge smile. “I’ll…I’ll come back and visit you again, okay? And I’ll bring you more stuff when I come back…so you be safe up here, I’ll be thinking about you!” Her teeth had began to chatter a little and she grinned. “Thank you for a wonderful night and thank you so much for the crystal…I’ll treasure it forever!”

The senshi scooped up her bag and gave the alien one last look before heading home, fully intending to curl up in bed with her own cup of hot chocolate.

Caedus watched as the senshi ran off; he could not exactly put into words what he had just felt, but it was…refreshing. She had left him with warmth, and food, and he may have been one crystal less than he had been this morning, but compared to this meeting, he had lost nothing.

Carefully, he picked up the items she had left for him and retreated into the grove of trees. There, the wind was less fierce.

He wrapped the blanket around himself, nestled next to a tree, and opened the thermos.

The hot chocolate and cookies did not last the hour.
