Welcome to the diary of Sailor Alkaid, also know as Kaia Delaney. After her corruption a lot of things have changed and a lot of things for her may continue to change. Below you will find the information concerning her new personality, life, and powers. Some of the previous information may no longer be available so if there's something here that you were looking for but can't find, please just ask!

Kaia Delaney was born in Destiny City but her parents moved to a small town a few hours away when she was very young in an attempt to provide a safer, healthier environment for her to grow up in. After she graduated highschool, she decided to move back to the city to attend DCU.

She is having a bit of a rough time adjusting to a new city, a new home, and having no family around to help her cope. This often makes her seem awkward around others though she is friendly and tries her hardest to make new friends. Even if she is a little stressed about the transition, she has committed herself to learning as much as she can about her new environment and is determined to make it through college. She's not one to be discouraged!

She recently decided on enrolling in DCU's nursing program and is very dedicated to learning all that she can so she can help others. That aside she is still very interested in History and Art classes as well and may take one of those as a minor in the future. School for her remains one of the simple parts of her life and even if she's struggling with the transition at the moment, she can always take comfort in her classes. She seems to be happiest when she has something to work on or is learning something new.



Hobbies
Painting: Kaia has a love for painting scenery and nature, often going out with her watercolors to a secluded place once she starts to feel a little too stressed out or upset. She finds this soothing and relaxing, especially after a long day at school.

Reading: She likes to read a lot. It helps take her mind off of things that bother or upset her - it's a great distraction from every day life and the problems she faces. It's also a good way to learn about things that she might want to know (or could have forgotten).

Documentaries: Kaia's TV is almost always stuck on the history channel or national geographic. If there's a show on that teaches even the smallest bit of information, she's right there ready to absorb it. She can't seem to get enough of the stuff, probably to everyone else's dismay.

Virtues:
Perceptive – Her keen understanding of others and their emotions lends her the ability to determine how she should react to the problems and situations at hand. If she is in the position to please someone in an authoritative position, especially someone she feels a strong allegiance to, or someone she is personally connected to, she uses this ability to react favorably. If they seek comfort, she provides it. If they seek justification, she provides it. On the other end of the spectrum, she can also use her understanding to manipulate those she stands to gain from. If she feels no loyalty or connection to a person but believes she could benefit from reacting favorably or negatively to them, she will do so.

Dedicated – Once she sets her mind to a task, she absolutely refuses to give up. This is true of all aspects of her life – school, relationships and especially her work with the negaverse. She full-heartedly believes that she failed miserably as a senshi – why else would she have been caught and corrupted? Thus, she wishes to prove herself worthy of the second chance provided to her by what she honestly views as the stronger force. She goes to the greatest lengths to follow orders given to her, especially those passed on by the higher command.

Good Problem Solver – Problems on paper aren’t exactly her forte, she’s not going to be helping anyone solve Sudoku. However, between her perceptiveness and patience, she’s good at working out more abstract problems and seeing the best solution. Her specialty lies in those involving personal matters, but she’s more than equipped to handle those that arise in her duties to the negaverse.

Patient – She is not one to react instantly to a problem or jump at the first chance to complete a task. She prefers to sit back, wait and observe. Her endless patience provides the opportunity to gather information or wait out a tough situation. In the end it typically pays off by allowing her to decide the best course of action without compromising the situation with potentially disastrous split-second decisions. The only unfortunate side of this is that this patience is on her own terms, not necessarily anyone else’s.


Flaws:
Overprotective – Alkaid was always overly eager in her attempts to help but since she lost all knowledge of everyone she cared about or loved, her need to help has intensified dramatically. Those that are close to her, especially any new found friends, might find her over-eager, needy, and smothering. She has a need to help others, which can be understandably annoying. She butts into situations where others may not want her help, sometimes tries to soothe the wrong disgruntled soul, and offers solutions to problems that may not need fixing. If she happens to hear that anyone she cares about needs help with something, you bet she’s going to volunteer! If someone needs help moving, she’ll free up her weekend. If someone hurt their arm or leg and needs help carrying their books, you bet she can do it! If you saw your boyfriend kissing another girl, well, she’ll butt right in there and try to fix the whole situation. Her deepest fear is to lose what little she has left of companionship and that leads her to constantly try and keep tabs on those she cares about and, perhaps worse, try to help them with any little thing that she perceives as a problem.

Overly Confident – Surviving the attack and the corruption gave her a giant boost of confidence which has left her a little reckless. She cares for others and their safety, tries to protect them in any way she can, but her concern for herself is almost non-existent. Her patience prevents her from making rash decisions and running head long into battle for no purpose, but if she thinks she can benefit a situation by putting herself at risk, she will not hesitate to do so. The major flaw here is that she often underestimates her former comrades, especially since she views them as the weaker team, and may set herself up for failure if she miscalculates the tiniest factor.

Touchy – Albeit being understanding of others and almost endlessly patient, there are a few sure fire ways to earn her ire. Most of these situations deal with people she thinks have acted inappropriately or tastelessly towards her or others, and her temper will flare quickly. However, Alkaid’s opinion of inappropriate and tasteless may not seem so to others, and many of the things she gets upset over are often what one would consider no big deal. Manners, etiquette, and proper protocols are among her top irritations. Respect has become one of the most important things in her life since the corruption and those that don’t know how to earn it or show it quickly find themselves among her least favorite people.

Superstitious - Although it may seem like a strange flaw, there are times when she hesitates to perform her duties based upon an irrational belief in superstitions. You name it and she probably believes in it. Mirrors? Don’t break them! Black cats? Don’t let them near her! Most of her fears are easily avoidable and don’t interfere too much with day-to-day life unless she’s in a situation where she simply can’t escape them. However, superstitious holidays are certain to have her in a bind. Friday the 13th, while not keeping her from coming to school entirely (after all, there are so many people that need her help), will have her jittery and paranoid the entire day. She spends most of the day looking over her shoulder for disasters. Halloween, on the other hand, is something she won’t even attempt to tackle. Once the sun goes down, Alkaid is home for the night.


Attack 1
Misguiding Light!
Alkaid can summon a ball of light to send out and lure in anyone within sight of it. All it takes is one direct look and they are caught under a hypnotic spell that Alkaid uses to slowly draw them back to her. She can't control their mind or make them do anything, it just entrances them to follow the light. The power does not distinguish between friend or foe - if anyone looks at it, they are snared.

Her ability to entrance people is dependent on a number of factors. First and foremost, it depends on the opponent's power level in relation to her own. Those weaker than her are fair game, those on the same power level can only escape if they possess a strong will, and those stronger than her would have to possess an extremely weak will to fall completely prey (though she may confuse them with it for a brief moment). She can entrance more than one person at a time, though the more people she tries to draw, and the more powerful they are, the weaker the spell becomes. Her concentration must be spread between multiple people and thus weakens when she tries to take on a job that is too big. At the basic level, her power starts to become unstable at about three people (without power levels or will considered) and much more would see it fail.

The spell is broken either when Alkaid loses concentration or when the individual is touched in a forceful manner (such as a shake or physical attack).

Attack 1a
Misguiding Light, Magnified!
This is the powered up version of her basic senshi attack. The ball of light doubles in size, giving her more control over her targets. Targets are more susceptible and she has the ability to entrance more people at once. At the super level, her power starts to become unstable at about six people (without power levels or will considered) and all handicaps still apply.

Attack 2
Ascendant's Barrage
As with her first two attacks, Alkaid summons a ball of light. This ball of light is much larger than her basic attack and hovers above her outstretched palms instead of supporting itself in midair. At will, Alkaid can fire guided light 'missiles' from the glowing ball at any target within her sight.

The missiles pack a power equivalent to a General's punch with up to two dozen missiles per attack. As long as Alkaid keeps her undivided attention upon her target, the missiles can't miss. However, if she breaks eye contact or the target hides behind something (ie: she can no longer see them) her attack is useless. Evasive and/or defensive Senshi attacks may also aid in avoiding the missiles.

The Star Alkaid
(Eta Ursae Majoris)

Though the name may not be so well known, the star certainly is. Alkaid is the end star in the handle of the Big Dipper, the great asterism that makes up most of the grand constellation Ursa Major - the Greater Bear.

Just fainter than Dubhe, the front bowl star of the Dipper, second magnitude (1.85) Alkaid is the third brightest star in the constellation and places number 35 in the list of the brightest stars. Though Johannes Bayer generally listed stars by Greek letter names in order of brightness within a constellation, the stars of the Dipper are named from west to east, rendering Alkaid Eta Ursae Majoris rather than Beta.

Different cultures see the sky differently as well. Alkaid's Arabic name means "the leader," and appears to refer to the "daughters" (the handle of the Dipper) that stand by a funeral bier made of the Dipper's bowl. Alkaid is also known as Benetnasch, which also refers to the daughters.

Alkaid is almost exactly 100 light years away. With a surface temperature of about 20,000 degrees Kelvin, it is one of the hotter stars that can be seen with the naked eye, and therefore glows to us a soft blue-white. Like the Sun, it is a "main-sequence" star that shines by fusing hydrogen into helium in its core. However its mass of six times that of the Sun renders it both hotter and over 700 times more luminous. Were Alkaid our Sun, we would have to be 25 times farther away to survive, almost to the orbit of Neptune.

It's also one of the two renegades of the Dipper. The five middle stars are all moving through space together as part of a loosely bound cluster. Alkaid and Dubhe, however, are moving in their own directions, ultimately dooming the Dipper's shape.
