This was it.

This was the place.

The last stand... the key to victory.

Cut off from the occasional breezes that wafted through the grass and flowers outside, the inside of the temple of Elysion was deathly silent. The dried and rotted remnants of some thorny vine clung to the marble where they had discovered an enormous crack in the wall, big enough for someone to easily walk through. It gave off the strange impression that whatever had manifested those vines had used them to pry the wall open... and it would dawn on a few of the soldiers of the Negaverse that, perhaps, this was not the first time this realm had been invaded. If there were any doubts about how crucial the safety of Elysion was to the safety of the Earth, for some those thoughts would start to wane at the sight of this evidence of a previous conflict.

And then the disconcerting, twisting remains of the same vine extended further into the hallway, framing a picture of partial ruin. This place had seen better days. The proud, pristinely gold-veined marble columns of the corridor looked oddly enough like someone had attempted to strangle them to death. As far as the eye could see, either wall was lined with sets of delicate, turquoise-colored frames, each about six feet tall and as wide as a small window. The vast majority of them had been warped to various degrees out of their elegant shapes, and were surrounded by shards of shattered glass. And, still, the vines continued on.

There was one good thing about the place so far, however: not a single senshi in sight. No Guardians, either. Hopefully things would stay that way while they were taking a look around.

Elysion had become a bittersweet place for General Tanzanite. On one hand, it was Earth's most sacred sanctuary. Being in so sacred a place brought her a peace rarely experienced outside the strange dream realm. However, it was also host to the largest battles they had yet fought with the senshi, two of which had been embarrassing failures.

Only Quail's Eye field remained under their control, and Tanzanite could only pray that the one territory would allow them enough of a foothold to push forward and drive the senshi out of Elysion for good.

“Don't go anywhere alone,” she murmured to whatever officers might be close, her eyes scanning the seemingly endless tangles of thorny vines. She lifted a hand to pinch a thorn between thumb and forefinger, and snapped it off, “We don't know who or what could show up.”

"Its really quiet." Was all the lieutenant muttered, staying close with those she knew. She did not know a majority of the negaverse, but she knew enough for now to make her happy. She would meet the others in due time...

"This place... looks like it was attacked a long time ago, or some sort of earthquake occured." Did natural disasters occur here? She did not know. Fayalite gave a nod towards tanzanite, taking the order and going by it.

Zinkenite scowled around him at the ruins and rot. "Small wonder it's in such a state..." He said more to himself than anyone else, though he gave a small nod to Tanzinite and Fayalite, seeing that they had arrived 'early'. With the senshi in control of 2 of the guardian fields how else would the heart of it look.
"...If we could take this place...think of what could be built from these ruins though..." To bring something down was the first step in building something new in it's place...

Painite looked around slowly, never yet finding the realm of Elysion to be displeasing to the eye, at the very least. It was easy to get lost in places like this. Not in a literal way, but in a way she was far less used to. She wasn't one for excessive deep thought, though recently it seemed the order of every day since the first trip into this dream scape.

She saw a few negaverse agents nearby, hearing General Tanzanite speak.

That was a very reasonable order, and she opted to listen whole heartedly. The last time she had been alone in this place, even for a few moments, she had found herself surrounded by senshi.

She scooted a bit closer, arms folded over her chest as if she were cold, though she wasn't. Nervous? No, that wasn't something she ever liked to feel, much less admit to. Eager? That could be closer. She swallowed hard, either way, taking in the sight of the battered area, though time had made it strangely beautiful in a different way.

Dioptase stood in between the much taller General Tanzanite and the somewhat shorter General Zinkenite - she hadn't had time to congratulate him on his promotion, which from the short time they had worked together seemed to be well deserved - and she figured that this wasn't the time.

She had inclined her head in respect, however, when he had turned to look at Tanzanite. "This... What could have done this ?" Her accented words cut though the air, them, her lips pulled in a tight line.

Clearly it pained her on some level to see this.

A little ways down the corridor, Fayalite's lantern would accidentally bump against one of the large frames on the walls. This one was different from the others, in that it had survived the supposed calamity completely intact: it was filled with glass, miraculously flawless and uncracked, and the easiest assumption to make about it was that it must have been a mirror.

However, upon a second glance, the Lieutenant would notice that the mirror wasn't reflecting anything inside the hallway. Instead there was a scene depicting a medieval-looking courtyard of some kind, though its relevance was anyone's guess.

It was quiet here compared to all the other fields. The heart of Elysion was both sad and beautiful, and left too many questions. Wolframite stepped in, stepping over the cracks, vines, and rocks, and followed the rest, moving up alongside Zink and Tanzanite, being wary but looking in awe around him. "I'm surprised it was this easy to get in. A big fight here could send the entire place crashing down." He was concerned about the walls coming in and he wasn't sure he liked the idea of being squashed by rubble. Still, it was beautiful despite the twisted columns and signs of damage. "It probably was beautiful before whatever it was had happened." He looked about, wondering what the Temple of Elysion was even used for.

Thunk! Went her Lantern against something solid... something that made her pause from within the group, turn.. and look towards whatever she had hit. A..Mirror? it was out of place, unusual... it was one thing left untouched in the room filled with debris. It was a miracle all in its own it was unscathed, everything around it was thick with wear and vines.

Inspecting closer... her jaw dropped.

"..Uh... Guys." She said, indicating towards anyone else within hearing distance. ".....am i crazy. Or does anyone else see some sort of ancient looking courtyard in this mirror." She couldnt help it, she reached a hand out to touch the smooth surface of the mirror...

Zinkenite turned at her call, moving with quick steps to stand beside her and peer into the glass, how curious. "I'd have thought it a mirror at first..." he admitted squinting slightly as though that small gesture would make sense of it all.
//Break it....// some small part of him thought, but to what end...and could it be broken, no...no he should analyze, study before action, god only knew if an impulse would play them directly into the hands of the senshi. They must be prepared.

Inspecting a column. Wolframite came over when Fayalite called out, wondering if it was senshi or something just as dangerous. Instead, it was a simple mirror, thankfully not high up or he and Zink would have had a problem looking in, but not a mirror. In fact, if it wasn't for the appearance of a mirror, the lack of a reflection would had made him think it was a rather odd picture. Looking in, a far more pleasing image than the one surrounding them, with it's broken walls and dead vines, was seen. "Do you think that's a part of Elysion or somewhere else?" He asked, wondering if there were more pictures to show them other territories to go after.

Dioptase stopped when she head Fayalite, turning and walking the few step back toward the lieutenant and the surface she had just discovered.

"How curious..." She couldn't help but think aloud.

She looked at Wolframite then, nodding at the other captain. "I do not know... But I think it might have been this temple before..." Before what ? Had the senshi already done an assault they were unaware of ?

As Fayalite called them over, Tanzanite turned from the tangled vines and made her way towards the assembling Negaverse. Her brows narrowed as she set eyes upon the scene within the glass, a hand reaching out to see if the pane was solid or, if like in the movies, she might be able to move through.

“Be careful. The parallel senshi Sailor Ares can walk through mirrors,” she noted, the memory prompted by Zinkenite's assessment. General Zinkenite, she reminded herself, “there could be a connection.” Tanzanite remembered the peculiar way the reflections had changed under Ares power, and how the parallel senshi of smoke was able to evade death by falling into one.

Zinkenite nodded at Tanzinate "A...very valid point, but is it mirror enough for her..." He scowled at it again. "Divided..." He said and put a hand on his chin.
"...It might not be the past... it might not even be a mirror... I wonder." He mused.
What if it was that damned Helios... Dreams it was all dreams and she saw them as twisted and terrible, could she divide them from the senshi? Surely after so many nights of fighting each other as soon as they slept they should have seen -some- senshi here... unless they were being kept apart.
But was it the Guardians or the world itself... Dreams had two parts too... 'pretty' dreams and fantasies, and 'nightmares'.

It seemed more like part of the 'real' Earth than the dream sanctuary they were in now. Probably the first clue to that was that the sun was clear in the sky in this odd reflection, and it was illuminating what looked like a quintessential flower garden of the middle-ages: very storybook, very Arthurian. The second clue was that, while lovely in its own right, it didn't really resemble any of the architectural motifs found in the temple. While it was also possible that this may have been a portal of some kind to wherever it is this was, touching the mirror would only result in the sensation of cool glass upon the fingers.

As bizarre as this all was, it was for all intents and purposes a simple mundane mirror... that just so happened to be reflecting the wrong place... at the wrong time. It was late morning, almost noon in the mirror. For the people gathered, however, it was an hour or so until midnight.

Several people made their way across the background of the reflection as they continued watching. They didn't seem to notice that they had any spectators... and curiouser yet, their mode of dress made it apparent that their fashion sense was stuck somewhere in the vicinity of "hundreds of years before 2011."

That was at least, until an extremely familiar uniform made its way into the foreground.

White bodice. Short skirt. Large bows, accents in pleasantly earthy shades of green and brown. It was obviously a sailor senshi, but not one that any of them had seen before. And like the other people who had passed by in the reflection, she was was completely unaware of and unaffected by the presence of the Negaversers in the hallway, even if they spoke.
