Somewhere the tune that had been ringing through the gym wound down and finally stopped before giving way to a more upbeat tune meant for a more upbeat dance. Khalla wasn't about to subject Rohan to that kind of torture and she was already untwining their hands and arms as the last note rang out. He had surprised her, to say the least, and she'd found herself more comfortable and at peace in the dance than she'd thought - was it because he'd finally grown comfortable in her presence? Whatever the case, she certainly wasn't going to dwell on it and push her luck with him when they were making such great progress. Baby steps were the way to go with Rohan, who typically acted like an overgrown child in social situations.

"Okay, I won't make you dance anymore," she said with a small laugh as she finally cleared her thoughts and took his hand in her own. She began to tug on it again, much like she had the first time when she'd been dragging him towards the dance floor. Without waiting for another word she started to stalk away from their spot on the floor then, leading Rohan through the milling people around them without much attention spared for anyone. "You did really well though, I'm proud of you," she glanced back over her shoulder with a smile, "I think you're a perfectly fine dancer if I say so myself." Well, maybe he wasn't exactly the best but he hadn't stepped on her toes at least! +1 for Rohan.

She stopped once she had determined they were far enough away from the dance floor, dropping his hand and looking up at him with that same bright, pleased smile. It was hard to find a time when she wasn't smiling, but she seemed particularly pleased with herself over the fact that she had drawn him out of his shell a bit. When he forgot about everyone else he could be really good company. She'd be lying if she said the dancing hadn't surprised her a little though, he'd been so dead set against it before now. "Maybe they'll play another slow song soon," she teased lightly, crossing her arms behind her back and glancing around them in a slightly restless way. It was teasing, but Khalla wasn't used to sitting still as long as Rohan liked to and she was already feeling slightly antsy again, especially after dancing for so long. She wasn't rude enough to abandon him like some people would, though.

Of course, now Rohan had no idea how to even start to explain to her that he was, in fact, rather enjoying this whole dancing ordeal and that he'd very much like to continue it, thank you very much. Specially if it involved some of that mildly close body contact - never mind that the music no longer suited that, he figured they'd think of something.

Seeing as he had no idea how to approach the issue, he let her disentangle herself from him and pull away. Still, the fact he'd been prepared for it did nothing to quell the feeling of loss and the mild disappointment that probably showed on his face (then again, it might've not been clear to her that the actual sadness came from the loss of her heat and contact, not from the end of the dance in question - a means to an end). He decided to content himself with the fact the situation had been pleasant while it'd lasted and that it hadn't turned into some sort of catastrophe of epic proportions. There was also the fact she still had her hand in his, which made up for it all. Sort of.

He allowed her tug him away from the crowd, as he considered that her touch made up for feeling mildly sheepish about having to be dragged around, "It wasn't that bad," he finally offered, though he did manage to snort slightly at her later comment, apparently perceiving mild humor in it, "I don't think not stepping on your feet counts as being a 'fine dancer', Khalla. Also, it was a slow dance," a very, very pleasantly slow dance that he now wished he'd have agreed to hours before.

Damn it, he now didn't even have an excuse to ask for a repeat without sounding stupid.

Not to mention she'd let go of his hand and he also had no sort of excuse to demand it back. Or at least he hadn't thought he did; that was, until she spoke again, and instantly, his gaze was on her again, "I wouldn't mind that," in fact, he'd have been down with that right this instant.

"I would hope you wouldn't mind that - at least, not after what I was seeing on the dance floor."

Both heads turned at the sound of the all-too familiar voice, eyes quickly falling upon the woman of the hour.

Ursula Johnson, or rather, Ursula Killingworth as of only an hour or two before, was standing beside the couple, arms crossed with a wide grin spread across her lips.

"I can request a slow song, you know. Being as this is my wedding and all."

One hand moved to rest on Rohan's shoulder, the slightly younger woman brushing off his shoulder as though she'd spotted something. "I do admit, Rohan darling, I didn't really believe you when you said you had a date for the occasion. I simply figured you were lying to get out of it. But Khalla's fine. Can have a bit of an attitude issue, but she's fine."

She paused, then stared at the woman in question as though she hadn't been standing there (and listening) the entire time.

"She isn't one of your students though, is she?"

"Well you don't have to push yourself just for my benef-"

The smile that permanently graced Khalla's face fled quickly as she turned to look at the third party that had invited herself into their conversation. Once she was over the initial surprise, she really did try to smile, but only managed a grim twitch of the mouth - much to her disappointment. She really wasn't trying to be rude, after all. Something about Ursula just grated her nerves.

"No, I think Rohan could probably use a bit of a break," of course she had no idea that Rohan had actually enjoyed it or that Ursula was capable of seeing the details in their developing relationship dynamic better than Khalla. She just thought Ursula was here to cause problems. "Thank you for the offer though." At least this time she managed a smile, small and tight though it was. She dropped her hands from behind her back and instead crossed them over her chest - a defensive movement. She would have moved closer to Rohan for support (hers or his is questionable) if.. that wasn't wear Ursula was standing.

She simply stood there like that, tight-lipped and arms crossed, ad Ursula continued to speak to Rohan. She wasn't the type to make snide comments about things. She also didn't think she had an attitude problem, and was just about to tell Ursula so, when she asked a very rude question.

"No, I'm not," she snapped, before Rohan could get a word in. "Not anymore, at least." She had been, the previous semester, but the class she had been taking with Rohan was over. She could have just left it at 'no' but Alkaid couldn't even lie to Ursula of all people. Instead she just stared at her, tilting her chin up a little just to make herself feel more confident.

He'd been about to answer that really, he wasn't pushing himself at all when Ursula interrupted his train of thought, which promptly derailed and crashed into some nearby mountain. For some odd reason, he hadn't really been expecting the red haired woman to spare him much of a second glance - at least not on such a night as this one. This was her night; surely she had a few other better things to do?

Apparently not, because she'd taken time out of her busy schedule to watch him dance. Had the situation permitted it, he'd have facepalmed. Alas, as it was, he simply offered Ursula a long, suffering look, "I..." it soon enough became obvious that both females were just going to talk for him, so he shut his mouth and waited it out; drat, well, now he had no real excuse to say that he'd have actually taken Ursula on the offer.

Life was not fair. Why was it that people only insisted on dragging him into situations when he didn't want to, and that when he DID want to be dragged... it seemed like everything piled against him?

A pause followed after Khalla's snap and he turned his attention back to Ursula, apparently bemused that his pale haired companion seemed to really NOT get along with the other woman "I don't... technically HAVE any students. I'm not technically a teacher; I'm a TA," another pause, "Unless you count the ones that assist help classes during vacations," and Khalla had never been in those groups. Another pause followed as his eyes slid from Ursula, to Khalla, and then back to Ursula, "I think you're upsetting her, Ursula."

Oh, he knew that Ursula probably saw what Khalla had not yet noticed, in her naivety, but he was looking at the red-head with an almost pained look, as if pointedly begging her not to give him away just yet. At least not in a way that Khalla might catch on.

Ursula smiled, fully and completely aware of both Khalla's and Rohan's reactions. "I see."

Despite his date not being any of the eligible girls she had attempted to set him up with, Ursula truly had no issue with his final choice in the matter. If anything, Khalla was perfect - strong willed, outgoing, direct. All things that Rohan needed in his life, as fumbling and distracted as the poor man could get.

Not to mention how fun it was to tease Khalla - Ursula loved to goad for reactions. But that, sadly, was besides the point.

Her eyes met with his as she intentionally continued to ignore the other girl's presence. She was in a good mood - she was married. She was getting her happily ever after. Nothing could bring her down from Cloud Nine and now that she was up there, she was going to do her best to bring everyone else with her. It was only fair that they share a happy moment too, right?

"I never said I was judging the girl, Mr. Dalry." She chided playfully, "I was merely asking a question. I had a crush on my own English teacher back when I was a junior in high school. Mr. Adams was simply to die for. He was a bit older, though, not that age really matters when one is in love."

Eyes glanced towards her new husband - living proof she lived by this philosophy. He was still suffering through casual conversation and well wishes from the other staff members. She'd have to return back to his side and save him soon....but not yet. Not quite yet.

"Far be it for me to judge, then, when a girl starts falling for her teach--TA." The slip was intentional, Rohan knew it. "But that's a shame, Khalla not wanting to dance with you. I have several songs in mind that would be perfect."

Her eyes finally, at long last, moved back towards the fair haired girl.

"Though if Khalla isn't interested, I may just have to steal my handsome friend here away for a quick dance for myself. Gunn isn't much for dancing and I would hate to waste a good song."

Rohan was looking panicked by this point. Ursula simply continued to smile.

Khalla did not like to be ignored. Ignoring people that were obviously a part of the conversation was rude. Which meant at that moment her opinion of Ursula wasn't very high. Khalla could feel her pulse quickening and it put a bit of a blush across her cheeks. Sadly, that could be misinterpreted as something completely different than the simple irritation that she felt. That meant her next words probably weren't all that convincing.

"I think you're jumping to conclusions again, Ursula," she said slowly, tapping the fingers of one hand against the opposite upper arm. Her nervous habits were showing under Ursula's scrutiny. "This isn't anything more than a friendly favor on my part." She could be a hundred degrees of naive when something directly concerned her, apparently. "Rohan said he needed a date to bring to your wedding and I was happy to oblige him so he didn't have to come with someone that would make him miserable all night. That's what friends do." If she was implying that Ursula was a bad friend for trying to set him up with someone awful, it was hard to tell - her tone managed to stay pretty matter-of-fact.

"I also never said I didn't want to dance," she sighed and dropped her arms from their crossed position at this, but as soon as she did so her fingers began to toy with the skirt of her dress instead. "I like to dance, actually, I just didn't want to force poor Rohan to do it again so soon. It was a chore dragging him out there the first time." She paused here and threw a small, sympathetic smile up at him. "No offense, Rohan."

It felt to Rohan like the situation was ever so quickly derailing out of his control (not that he had... much control over the situation to begin with), and he found himself glancing from one girl to another and back again, "I..." it was becoming horribly difficult to get his opinions on the matter across.

By the time Ursula suggested he dance with her, however, he paled rather quickly, his gaze snapping towards where he could just make out Charonite's form, socializing with some peers, "I really don't think that's a very good idea at all," he said, making sure to stress out his last words as best as he could without coming off as horribly rude. As far as he was concerned, he valued his life and didn't think it would help his case much at all if he chose to dance with the newly wed queen of the negaverse. Specially not while her husband was right there.

His gaze was back on Khalla as the girl pretty much seethed in place and he briefly considered placing his hand on her shoulder in order to... hold her back. He would have, really, had he not decided that this might possibly do more harm than good. He shoot Ursula yet another pained look as Khalla went on her tirade, as if begging her not to give him away. He went as far as mouthing the word 'please' to the red head and then shaking his head.

When Khalla looked back up at him, he was caught off-guard, still mid ways shaking his head, though the girl might have taken the movement as him not approving of Ursula's intervention, "None taken," he finally mouthed, though he couldn't help but grumble mentally that HE had not been the one that had asked to leave the dance floor.

He'd been feeling rather happy back there. Now he was back to panicky.

His please did not go unnoticed. His eyes pleaded, his expression begged, but the opportunity in front of them was a bone to a starving dog, as far as Ursula was concerned.

"Then it's settled."

Without another word, she spun on her heels and walked off in the opposite direction, much to Khalla's and Rohan's relief. Rohan's relief quickly returned to Panic Mode, however, as the bride appeared only moments later, making a beeline in their direction. The current song had changed, stopping midway through (and quite confusing to those currently dancing) but nearly immediately a new song began to play. A slow song.

A really slow song.

Before either could comment, Ursula's hands shot out, encircling around both TA's and student's wrists. The newlywed quickly pulled both of them forward and onto the dance floor, not wasting a moment as she forcibly shoved Khalla into the taller man.

"You'll have to forgive Rohan, dear," she was saying, moving one and then the other of Rohan's hands onto Khalla's waist. His face looked as though he was about to melt away in embarrassment, "He's a bit socially awkward, so he doesn't know how to dance properly. It's a good thing us friends are here to help out when needed, right? Since that's something a friend would do."

Her smile seemed genuine though Khalla could hear the mockery of her own words being thrown back at her. While Rohan's hands remained frigidly stiff at the girl's side (his Queen had slapped his hand gently when he tried removing it), Ursula then took hold of Khalla's and wrapped both of her arms around her date's neck. A few positions and changes here and there had both partners humiliated, but Ursula hadn't noticed any of the curious onlookers. She hadn't even noticed her husband's staring, the bride so intent on positioning her human Barbie dolls just the way she wanted them to be.

By the time she was finished, the first slow dance had ended and another had begun. As the crooning voice of Michael Bublé sang out over the speaker system, Ursula's invasive hands dropped from where they were, her eyes lighting up.

"Oh I love this song!"

Without so much as a goodbye, she was off and away from the embarrassed couple, her husband now her new target of focus. While she was all for helping out couples in need... well, this was her wedding and if she wanted to dance to Michael Bublé, then she was going to dance to Michael Bublé, damn it!

Khalla had been so relieved when Ursula finally walked away. In fact, she was so relieved that her tension had faded in that brief minute and she had already turned to say something pleasant about the new privacy to Rohan. And then the wicked witch came stomping back in even more determined than before.

The words on her lips died before she ever spoke them and she was so startled by the suddenness of being grabbed and drug out towards the dance floor that she couldn't even protest. Before she knew it she was shoved up against Rohan (how inappropriate!) and his arms were suddenly settled around his waist. This dance felt infinitely more intimate than the first one and it hadn't even started - she wasn't exactly sure how she felt about it. She wasn't sure how poor Rohan was going to feel about it either because she was sure he just had to be totally uncomfortable with this.

"Ursula- stop- will you just-" she stammered and stumbled and tried to get Ursula to stop and listen to her but in the end she winded up with her arms around Rohan's neck. She hadn't missed Ursula's mocking, but even now she seemed more concerned with Rohan than she did with Ursula taking digs at her. She was just about to turn to the newlywed and snap at her for being so bold and pushy when the woman squealed about the song that had just come on and promptly stalked off in the direction of her very strange looking husband.

That just left Khalla alone with Rohan in one of the most uncomfortable situations she'd ever been in.

"That woman," she sighed softly, chewing at her lip a little as she looked up at Rohan's face. Yet, they were here, and she was too proud to back down from something she'd agreed to. "If you're.. uncomfortable with this just tell me? We certainly don't have to do it if you don't want to but I would really rather not give her another reason to come over here and inerrupt our evening if I can help it." That, and in the end, she really was just too damn proud for her own good and not willing to back down at all.

That said, she didn't want to draw Ursula's attention by being statues on the dance floor among other moving bodies, so she took the lead like she had before and began to move the pair of them around the room. It was a little harder in this position though, she had to admit. She was considerably shorter than he was and being so close to him (she was pretty sure he should be able to feel her heart beating between them) meant it wasn't as easy to guide him along as gracefully as before.

Rohan's relief was apparent as Ursula turned to walk away from them; he figured the woman had finally decided to take heed of his somewhat pathetically pleading expression.

No such luck though, because no sooner had he allowed himself to relax and let out a pained sigh that the music in the gym came to a sudden, almost screeching halt and changed into a much more slower, melodic sound. He groaned inwardly, raising his gaze to the ceiling of the gym, no doubt wondering 'why me?'. He had little time to indulge in self pity, for the red head was back within moments; she grabbed not only his arm, but Khalla's too, and they began a much more forceful trail back onto the dance floor. Despite Khalla's sputtering and stammering, he opted for silence (talking hadn't been doing him much good anyhow).

This time, he was indeed pretty damned aware of the curious looks they were given as the Queen dragged both of them to pretty much the middle of the crowd and began to position them. He felt Khalla being shoved right into him, and more out of instinct than anything, he took hold of her, sending Ursula the wildest, most panicked look he'd ever sent anyone in his life. He soon enough opted for letting Ursula position him in whatever way she wished to (she'd slapped his hand when he'd tried to remove it!) and simply stood there, looking awkwardly out of place.

By the time the redhead had finished with them, a new song had started and he watched (mildly bewildered by the situation on a whole) as she ran off to indulge herself in a dance with her new husband. Which meant that he was now, once more, relatively alone with Khalla, albeit in a much more embarrassing and awkward situation than he'd started off in. Despite that, he couldn't really negate the fact it was an interesting situation at least, and despite the fact he hadn't really been expecting it... well, he could have done a lot worse than finding himself pressed up against a girl he rather fancied.

He decided he could deal with this, even if he was still not sure if he should be mentally thanking Ursula or cursing her. Maybe both.

Khalla's voice interrupted his inner musings as she attempted to lead them, which was apparently a tad more difficult, given the fact her arms were now circling his neck, "I'm fine," in fact, once he tuned everyone around them out, he was pretty peachy and dandy, thank you very much. And he now had an excuse to continue dancing, which was also rather nice. After a moment or two, during which he cleared his throat and thoughts, he started moving, first following Khalla's lead, and then suddenly taking the the lead himself, "I'll lead," he told her in a murmur, "I think I got the hang of it before, and I'm guessing it's increasingly harder for you now."

Yeah, he could get used to this.

Khalla was a little shocked, or rather, pleasantly surprised, when Rohan took the lead from her and began to guide them through the dance. She hadn't really expected him to take to dancing quite so soon, but who was she to argue? It meant that he was coming even more so out of his shell than he had before and that was something Khalla could appreciate (even if the means of getting there had been somewhat of a pain for the both of them).

"Alright," she said quietly, smiling up at him, apparently in a better mood now that Ursula had left their presence. Despite the fact that they were only dancing because she had demanded it, she seemed determined not to let it ruin her night. She was a callous woman, but in the end, if it didn't bother Rohan too terribly, she was still having fun. "It's a lot easier for me this way, yes."

She let herself fall into the motions set by him, feeling more at ease than she had during the first dance. When she didn't have to put her mind into thinking about guiding him along and showing him how to dance, she could just relax and enjoy doing so. It wasn't often that she got to do it, but she really did enjoy dancing. With a peaceful sigh, she closed her eyes and let the world around her fade away.

It was nice to just spend time with Rohan, with just him and the music. In the end, no matter the ups and downs, the night was better than she had ever anticipated.
