General Serandite, a frequent visitor to negaverse halls, had just finished the task of turning in a few orbs of energy. She looked out-of-place in these halls with her brightly colored kimono and pink hair. If the definition of military included "stoic" and "business-like," it was unfortunate that this girl excluded many of these qualities. However, she did give off the power signature of a General. Even if the rest of her was debatable, that was the conclusive fact. But judging on appearances alone.. Well, this General accompanied by a large array of lollipops, determining a flavor wasn't very convincing.
She spotted someone further down the hall, her head tipped with an interested gaze. It wasn't quite a new recruit really.. but perhaps, the best term was a recent recruit. Slowly but surely, the negaverse added to their numbers.. not only new lieutenants but new senshi as well. Serandite's experience hadn't gone much farther than a glimpse of Nova and a friendship that included rare interactions with Tisiphone.
"Sailor Alkaid, if I .. remember right?" .. Blond dreadlocks and black dress. Who else besides Hematite had dreadlocks?

It seemed it was rare these days for Alkaid not to have a dozen books sitting by her bedside, and today was no exception. She was wandering the halls aimlessly, a book in her hands, and her nose buried into the text. She probably had nowhere to go but sitting still made her anxious and let her think about things best forgotten. At least this kept her occupied and left no room for a pity party.
The heavy, thick font across the leather bound cover read 'Destiny City: History and Legend'. It wasn't hard to guess why she'd chosen it or why she found it so captivating; Alkaid struggled to fill her mind with as much information as she could about the place she knew had once been her home but could not recall much of other than small glimpses from a fractured memory. It was possibly her single-minded interest in the book that caused her to, for the first time since being brought to the chilling headquarters, lose sight of her surroundings. When the General addressed her, her eyes slid slowly from the pages, then widened slightly as she read the overwhelming energy pouring off the other girl.
"Oh, I'm sorry," she said as she shut the book and tucked it behind her back, "I didn't realize you were there." She gave her a small bow, not much more than a slight inclination of her head and shoulders, but it was a respectful gesture none-the-less. "I am indeed Alkaid, and you must be.." she trailed off as she wracked her memory of all the Negaversers she had been told of. A General in a bright kimono? Not too hard to guess. "General Serandite?"

"Yep! No need for formalities, it's just Serandite here. No need to apologize-- I get lost in books too. It's really interesting, where they can take you sometimes!" Serandite shook her head, her hand motioning back and forth to dispel the air of formality. She even seemed a little uncomfortable.. But that could be concluded as an effect of just recently moving up the ranks.
Serandite took a few steps to the side, her body leaning, head tipping to see the title of the book Alkaid had tucked behind her back. "I see." She commented, raising her eyebrows. Not a subtle move, really. "That's not going to take you anywhere." She referred to the writing talent of writers, using their combination of style, tone and words to create images and worlds to travel to. The history of Destiny City? Decidedly not. One could see Destiny City for themselves.
"Hey Alkaid." She clapped her hand together excitedly, offering the scout a bright smile. "Do.. you feel like taking a trip? A spontaneous one. A fantastic one-- It'll be great to get out of these stuffy headquarters. It's design and color scheme doesn't really advocate motivation, you know?"
(She should know. A few glittery posters that decorated the walls awhile back had demonstrated Serandite's goal for motivation. Needless to say, those had been taken down fairly quickly.)

As the general dismissed all airs of 'formality', Alkaid tried her best to relax. Then she realized that she was simply doing so because she had taken it as a command, and she sighed to herself. How was she was supposed to relax now? Instead she settled for her comfort zone, somewhere between relaxed and alert, and refrained from her urge to nod her head as an answer.
"What?" she pulled the book back out and looked down at the cover as if she were only just seeing it. A sad look turned her lips down into a frown and she shrugged her shoulders a little (though the motion was a little more calculated than a true, careless motion). "Well, I don't remember much about the place, just bits and pieces that are no help to me.." She trailed off as said memories flashed unhelpfully in her mind, showing her buildings she couldn't locate and streets she barely recognized. It was only Serandite's sudden enthusiasm that drew her from her contemplation.
"Yeah?" She glanced up at her quickly when her name was said, her face blanking immediately to hide her frustration over her memories and their poor organization. "A trip?" Her brows rose instantly as she glanced around the hallway Serandite called 'stuffy'. It was certainly something, though she wasn't sure stuffy was the word for it. Cold, uninviting, and a little scary maybe. Serandite was right about it lacking any motivational ability.
"I wouldn't mind that, actually, I've been stuck here for days." Minus the few trips she took to investigate nagging memories. "I think it would be a great breath of fresh air."

"Okay!" Serandite clapped her hands together excitedly, obviously pleased by Alkaid's acceptance. In a way, Serandite could only partially understand Alkaid's situation of being, essentially, no more than a blank slate. That understanding came from an outside view, watching Tisiphone's experiences. Tisiphone had struggled-- still struggled-- to regain a sense of identity. Serandite couldn't imagine not knowing the very same city she grew up in. When she did think of that scenario.. Well, it wasn't pretty.
"Meet me outside in .. let's say, half an hour? We can get ready for the day. I'll take you to all the best pastry places and show you around!" Serandite suggested, extracting a cell phone to briefly glance at the time. She needed to change.. and get her cellphone. Her bag too. "I'll meet you outside!" She reminded Alkaid, teleporting out of the subspace, the only traces of her was the fading black energy following teleportation.

Alkaid admittedly didn't understand why the meeting had to take place after such a long time, but she also didn't understand the concept of taking half an hour to get ready. She was always ready to go, she had no vanity to speak of.
So, as time passed slowly by, Alkaid found herself in her room - poking around at the few little things she had managed to collect. Most of her possessions were books and, while they were great for passing time, she felt a little too restless over the impending outing to bother. Among them, too, was a worn little standing clock that looked like it was from another time - it probably was, considering she'd found it in the subspace. She eyed the little hands as they slowly ticked, and, just a couple of minutes before the clock struck the hour she decided she simply could not wait any more.
She stood quickly from her bed and teleported out of the subspace, looking out of place in the late afternoon sun. She thought of simply powering down, but then, how would Serandite know it was her? Could she just stand there as a civilian with her name written in big letters on a poster board? Where would she get poster board around here?
In the end she decided to just stand there, hoping no one would come by before the general showed up.

Serah ran forward to the blond female, waving her hands excitedly as she ran up towards the other. The way her hair shined and flattened indicated the girl had just come from a shower, barely taking the time to dry her hair. She was dressed in a short skirt and a collared shirt, lined with a simple sleeveless vest.
She was out of breath, taking a moment to catch it when she stopped in front of Alkaid. She held up her wrist to look at her watch, brown eyes focused on the minutes. She wasn't late. But .. had Alkaid been waiting long? She didn't look different from half an hour ago. Tipping her head, Serah's posture straightened to look up at the corrupted senshi.
Speaking of corrupted .. Serah should have introduced herself. It was a good thing she noticed sooner than later-- it'd be horrid if Alkaid had thought she was somebody else!
"Serah. Or otherwise known to you as General Serandite."

The muscles in Alkaid's body tensed with a sudden wariness a she saw someone walking towards her. Logic said that the only person who should know where she was would be General Serandite and that she would be the only one purposefully coming to find her. The sunset-toned hair that fell around this stranger's shoulders seemed similar to the General she had just left behind, but how could Alkaid know for sure? Glamor was a tricky thing.
When she finally stopped in front of her and introduced herself, the corrupt senshi let out a long, slow breath that she had been holding since she first spotted the girl heading her way. Then, she simply powered down, leaving a civilian in her place.
The dreads that fell to her feet shortened, falling closer to her waist, in an illusion meant to keep people from asking questions. She had on the civilian clothes she'd been wearing before the last time she'd powered up, which were fairly simple - a pair of jeans tucked into ankle-high boots and a fitted, v-neck sweater. She always dressed simply, it was just easier for her that way.
"I'm Kaia," she said finally, resisting the urge to actually reach out and shake her hand. She already knew her after all, formalities were a bit silly at this point. She glanced around nervously for a moment, even though she was no longer powered up and in danger of being found out - she was still getting used to this civilian identity of hers.
"So, what did you have planned?" It was a nervous question, but it was better than total silence.

"A glorious trip to the mall!" Serah pointed out,a finger lifting eagerly as she listed off the items. "New shirts.. jeans .. I dont know about you but you know, when we corrupt you guys and you lose your memory, there seems to be a habit of ignoring you guys in the whole 'living' department. What happens to all the necessities? The clothes? The jewelry? You know, all the fun stuff in life."
Distant memories of Tisiphone flickered in Serah's mind, remembering the girl's almost-apathetic nature towards shopping or dressing up. At least she tried to cook. Serah wouldnt know what to do if the girl didn't at least attempt to do that.
Serah pointed towards the exit eagerly, her pointer finger proudly directed towards where the mall stood.. in the far far far distance. "So I'm going to take over that department and try to get you guys back up to stuff. I'll show you to all the best dessert places and the cheapest stores. It'll be fun!" Serah flashed Kaia a grin, clapping her hands together excitedly.
Fun .. for Serah. Perhaps, not so much for Kaia to play dress-up doll for the day.

At first Kaia seemed a little shocked. Admittedly, shopping for anything other than groceries wasn't really her strong point. Then Serah began to explain her plan, her goals, and her reasoning like it was a well-rounded presentation and that was something that Kaia could get behind. For the first time since she'd stepped foot in the Negaverse, Kaia actually trusted someone in the civilian department.
"Well, that's true, I've got less clothes than some homeless men." She tried to laugh but that was.. sadly true. If the Negaverse didn't have their own headquarters, she wouldn't even have had a place to stay for weeks. As far as she knew, she'd never felt the plight of the millions of homeless Americans until then.
"I should warn you that I'm really not fashion savvy at all, though, I wouldn't even know where to start with.. any of this." She did start walking as soon as Serah pointed at the blip of a building on the horizon, though, so she was at least making her agreement obvious. She'd let Serah put her through all of this if it meant feeling more comfortable in her civilian life. Of course, she probably didn't understand the lengths to which Serah was prepared to go.
"Can't we take a bus or trolley though? I spend enough of my time walking around at night." She was also a little spoiled by teleporting now as well.

It was only a matter of time before Kaia was herded into a car with.. Serah's older brother? The young adult male sat in the front seat, his car discreetly pulling up on the street, a fair distance away from the negaverse subspace. Just with one glance, you could tell who kept who in line. With his crimson red hair and tall frame, it almost seemed like he took after a different side of the family entirely. But there was much in common with the pair of siblings .. The easy-going manner and friendly bits of conversation they threw back and forth.
She opened the back door seat for Kaia, climbing into the front seat afterwards. She was talking a mile a minute as she put on her seat belt, her bag laid flat in her lap.
"Senel, this is Kaia. We're going on a project today to get her an entire closetful of clothes." She turned her head, angling her body back to glance at Kaia in the passenger seat. "Kaia, this is Senel. He's my older brother and our ride for today-- He's graciously agreed to chauffeur us to the mall and back here when we're done."
The male offered Kaia a soft grin, leaning back in his chair to take a good look at Kaia. His hand left the wheel to awkwardly maneuver a hand back, torso half-turned, in a handshake towards Kaia. "It's nice to meet you. Thanks for hanging out and taking care of my kid sister."
"Senel, you sound like an old man. You don't see me thanking your girlfriend for putting up with you." Serah retorted as she adjusted her seal belt, the "click" of the metal tucking itself in a firm grasp.

Kaia let herself be steered into the back seat of the car without many questions and only a little bit of fumbling. Soon she was seated in the back seat, seatbelt clicked into place, and staring ahead at Sera and.. this new guy that she didn't recognize. Thankfully, Sera clarified who he was and what he was doing, but that still didn't answer all of her questions.
Did he know who they really were? Was he a part of the Negaverse? Did he know why she needed an entire close full of new clothes? There were so many things unanswered but no way to approach them. If she took the risk of asking and he wasn't among the ranks of the dark army, then that would be one huge problem. So, instead she smiled and nodded at the introductions.
"Nice to meet you too, Senel," she thrust her hand out and shook the one he had twisted back for her. It was awkward, but normal enough, she supposed. Then again, she wasn't really a good judge of 'normal' these days. "And really, Sera has been very sweet to me. I just moved to Destiny City and she's kind of.. showing me the ropes." It was a lie, and it tasted just as foul as ever, but it was the only cover she really had.
Instead of spreading more of her made up story, she simply sat back against the seat and smiled at the bickering between them. It was bittersweet, watching a family interact, but there was still a 'sweet' at the end of that.

Senel had driven off with the remark, that they should call him if they needed a ride home. Serah had waved farewell to him, eagerly, before she pulled Kaia into the one of the busiest realms of a teenager's life. The mall. Kaia was going to find herself taken into a flurry of stores at the mall. Serah practically insisted that she tried anything and everything-- if Kaia so much as glanced at it for a moment longer, Serah took it off the shelf. If Serah thought something looked good .. Well, off the shelf it went too!
Dressing rooms and more dressing rooms. Walking and more walking. Perhaps, the walk they might have taken to the mall equaled to the walking they had to do within the various stores of the mall.
Who knew? But it sure was a lot of walking.
