He had to take a break from examining the wall sometime. It hadn't been during the rainy night before, but rather in the calm morning hours after the storm. Quiet had fallen on the household, which if one stayed there long enough they realized what a precious precious thing that was. Demy enjoyed making noise, and Demy did not enjoy sleeping.
Thankfully for some reason he decided to open the door quietly, rather than his usual method of just slamming it open and screaming his 'sister's' name at the top of his lungs. No, today he opened the door and slipped in, intent on spreading out a few new glowsticks and surprising Heather with his redecorating when she woke up. She'd like that, wouldn't she? She had to! Hell he wouldn't even wake her up with his music! ....For now.
So while all these plans were running through his head, Demy didn't expect there to be anyone on their couch. Why would there be? Unless it was a team meeting there was never anyone crashing in their living room! ...So why the -hell- was there someone now? At first he had just been passing by, softly whistling a happy tune. But the oddity caught the edge of his vision and curious he snuck over to peer over the back of the couch.
....What?
Giving a confused look, Demy attempted to lean further over the couch to get a bit closer, before finally whispering "Heeeeeeeeey! ..You asleep?"

Kaia had never been a light sleeper, especially not when she was having so much trouble sleeping to begin with. She was having a fitful sleep, curled up on the sofa and wrapped in blankets Heather had provided. So, when the not-too-subtle teenager leaned over the back of the couch and whispered his question, her eyes snapped open instantly.
"Sort of," was the half sleepy reply, but she didn't even have the energy to look disapproving. She just rolled onto her back and sat up enough so she didn't have to strain herself to look at him. Once quick glance and she knew who he was - she never forgot a face.
"Good morning to you too," she mumbled softly, rubbing the back of one hand against her still puffy, red eyes. She dropped it into her lap with the other then and laced them together, staring at him expectantly. Even a little sadly, but that seemed to be her default expression lately. "Do you need.. something?" She couldn't imagine what, but he had to have a good reason for just waking her up. Right?

"I don't need anything! I'm pretty good! Though I could use a million bucks, but everyone could always use that yeah? Or maybe a million glowsticks...dude that would be awesome."
For a moment he fell silent as he grinned over the thought of how bright a million glowsticks would be. Eye searing rainbow? Hell -yes-.
"I was kinda wondering...whatcha doing here? Not that I mind guests, cause actually I love them and maybe someday Heather will bring more people in and I can have more friends here at home and maybe she won't yell at me for bothering her quite so much. That'd be neat!"
Breathing? What was breathing?
"But she didn't say anything about a guest, and I just got home...so, what's up? You comfy? Do you need anything? Wanna watch cartoons with me?"
That last question was totally serious.

Kaia just listened mostly in silence as Demy tried to test the lengths of his lung capacity. She didn't have much to say in response to a lot of it but doubted she would have even gotten the chance if he tried.
"I'm fine out here," she tried to smile, but it seemed those facial muscles weren't cooperating right now. Instead she just shrugged, trying to fill her void with some kind of reaction. "It was more comforting than the big empty bed she offered me in the other room." Truthfully? The couch was small and close, not open like the bed had been.
Then she just sighed a little as she tried to think of how to explain this to his hyperactive brain. Heather was understanding, but Demy was so carefree it felt almost criminal to burden him with the whole tale - if he even had the attention span to listen to it all.
"I just had a fight with my roommate and needed somewhere to sleep." She nodded at him, then glanced at the TV in a curious way. Cartoons? She'd watched a lot of things in her days since awakening into the Negaverse, but she hadn't bothered with Cartoons. Those were supposed to be funny and uplifting, right?
Finally she just shrugged in a way that said 'what the hell' and began to shift the blankets around until she was sitting up in a little cocoon. She patted the couch beside her as an invitation and leaned back into the couch. "Why not, let's watch some." They couldn't hurt, right?

"A fight with your roommate?..." Demy's look read as understanding. Sure he was usually upbeat and full of more energy than anyone could stand, but a flicker in his eyes gave way to the truth. Fights with roommates huh? Heh, he knew about those.
But Kaia wasn't here for sob stories of his own problems in life! Kaia needed help cheering up, and though she wasn't flat out asking him to be her ray of freakin' sunshine that was okay. Demy was of course well aware that this had to be the thing Kaia wished for the most. Like the good General he was, he'd grant her this wish. The Negaverse truly was fortunate to have him.
"Well, you can stay here as long as you want! Kay?" It wasn't -his- house per-say, but clearly Heather wouldn't mind. It was, after all, a similar situation that had lead Demy to wind up on Heather's doorstop, tears in his eyes and bag on his back. He just...never left. Oops.
"You'll really watch cartoons with me? Awesome! You'll like them I promise, but cartoons go good with cereal...do you like cereal? We have all kinds and I'll get you some! I bet you're hungry, right? You must be, I didn't really see any mess in the kitchen so you guys must not have eaten last night..."
Either that or they did this mystical thing called cleaning which Demy hadn't seemed to have caught onto the idea of just yet.

She opened her mouth to respond to one of his dozen suggestions, only to have him talk over her with more excitement than she could recall in anyone she'd ever seen. Idly, she wondered if his entire diet was composed of sugar and caffeine. It probably was, which meant she wasn't about to get him started on the subject.
"I'll be here a day or two," she said slowly, almost lost beneath his enthusiasm. It was hard to dwell on everything that was wrong in the face of it though, so for that she was at least glad. Even if she was mostly staring at him blankly and trying to keep up with everything he was spewing out at her.
"Uh, yes? I like cereal? Nothing with marshmallows though, maybe?" Was that even possible? By all kinds, she was beginning to think he just meant all the best sugary ones. The idea made her stomach want to roll over but maybe he would surprise her with something that wouldn't give her a sugar overload instantly.
She just tucked the blankets closer to her body and settled back into the couch, letting her eyes drift from him to the silent TV she was sure he was going to light up with something she didn't understand any minute now. "Yes, I will watch them, I'm not doing anything else, right?"
Except, you know, sleeping but she figured that was probably absolutely out of the question now.

A day or two! WOOHOO! It could have been longer in Demy's opinion, but that was long enough to hang out and do stuff right? Kaia would love his company, she just had to! Spending time with her and helping her forget her worries would be his payback for her help when his knee was broken. This. Was. Perfect.
"Can do! Here you go!" Demy flipped on the TV, quickly finding cartoons before dashing off to the kitchen to get some cereal. "Be right back! We have some without marshmallows, Heather insisted on me getting some non sugary cereal at one point...but hey, pour some sugar on top and it's fine! I'll bring the sugar too in case you wanna fix your cereal!" If Demy did anything, it was eat. The boy was saved by his high metabolism and overabundance of energy in that department.
With him gone, the room was slightly quieter...calmer too. The TV had lit up to depict the adventures of an overly optimistic......was that some kind of sponge? Whatever it was lived in a pineapple under the sea... Their guest was likely quickly realizing that this of course made no sense, except in the fact that of course this would be the sort of thing the young General watched.
Soon enough he came back, plopping himself on the couch beside Kaia. With a happy grin he handed over her cereal (it, thankfully, seemed like a simple corn flake mix and there was an absence of marshmallows), and set the sugar bowl on the table just in case she wanted some. His own cereal was filled with a rather colorful mixture of sweet sugary goodness.
"That okay?" He gestured to the cereal before taking a bite of his own. "Mmmm!"

Kaia let her attention stay on the TV as her energetic new companion ran off to fix their cereal. As she watched it though, she was already pointing out all of the flaws and impossibilities in the show. By the time she ever heard Demy coming back, she had convinced herself that children's shows were obviously some kind of brain washing device.
Was that why Scheelite was so crazy?
"That's perfect, actually." She took the bowl from him carefully and balanced it on the arm of the couch (something she had learned from watching Khal). She actually seemed surprised that he not only had something that wasn't sugary, but that he had been thoughtful enough to think about it. She did make a pass on his sugar suggestion, though.
She took a few bites of the cereal, sitting in silence and trying to wrap her mind around the nonsensical characters on the TV, when she finally just frowned and glanced at him. "How is there a beach under the ocean?" What she knew of geography said that was absolutely impossible.

Why, of course! The horrors of daytime television were what drove Scheelite to the absolute brink of madness. As a child with somewhat neglectful parents (at least as far as attention went) he had spent quite a bit of time in front of the TV watching who knew what. This sort of thing was -perfect- for brain washing.
Or something.
Demy didn't seem the tiniest bit worried by the craziness spewing forth from the TV. In fact, he seemed rather entertained by it! There were a couple moments he had to break away from his cereal consumption as he burst into giggles, but he always went right back to his marshmallows when he was finished.
At her question the boy finally tore his attention from the TV long enough to give her a tilt of the head and a carefree smile.
"I dunno, there's sand down there right? What if there was like..sand...and a deeper hole of heavier water right by it? That'd make a beach!"
It didn't matter if this made no sense to anyone besides Demy. He seemed content with the answer.

Kaia chewed thoughtfully on a bite of her cereal as she considered Demy's explination - as if it actually had some kind of merit worth exploring. After a few moments she seemed to dismiss that possibility though and she was again looking at the TV skeptically.
"I am pretty certain that is not how plate tectonics work." Even trying to imagine how that would be set up seemed to be too complicated for her and she finally delved back into her cereal, quenching some hunger she hadn't realized was there until he had actually mentioned food. When was the last time she'd even eaten?
Then she was thinking again, and the stress was swelling at the back of her heart, so instead she turned attention back on the bubbling ball of happiness next to her.
"Is there something else on, maybe? I just don't get this one." She offered a sad smile at having to ask him to change, but it was hard for her to enjoy the amusement he got out of it when she was trying to keep her brain from rejecting the ideas.
