Another night came and once again Chailee had found herself wondering if going on patrol was for the best, and again her conscience won out. So after making sure her parents were sound asleep she slipped out of the house quietly, ran a few blocks over and powered up in a dark alley. A few choice leaps on ledges and fire escapes and she was on top of the buildings.

A flash of lightning caught her attention in the distance. A storm seemed to be brewing but looked to be too far away to really do any harm. The sky though was clouded over enough to prevent any sight of stars or the moon. A fairly gusty breeze caught at her hair and skirt bringing with it the smell of rain. Maybe the weather wouldn't hold and she'd have an excuse to call it a short night? She didn't much fancy the idea of patroling in the rain and lightning considering she wasn't a fan of the resulting thunder.

With nothing to help her procrastination, the Super Senshi moved along the buildings with practiced ease. It was a typical patrol she was taking tonight that would take her near the park and eventually DCU. She had tended to stay closer to the library but tonight she didn't want to stray too far from home in case the storm hit abruptly.

She stopped a top a rather large building to look out over the city and sighed. Everything looked so peaceful and serene. No sooner had that thought crossed her mind she felt a strong chaotic aura. It wasn't something she had felt before and it worried her. A thread of anxiety began to weave itself in her stomach as she swallowed a lump in her throat. Harmonia wasn't sure if she was prepared to face whoever it was.

It was a lucky thing for the little senshi that Alkaid was mostly satiated for the night - on energy, on entertainment, on anything a beast of Metallia could possibly want for herself. Keeping up a human facade was as tiring as explaining herself but she did it, day in and day out, and when she saw the chance to weave a little doubt into the white moon's web, she took it, if only to provide a break in the monotony of a sleepless life.

No sooner had the senshi become aware of her swelling, chaotic aura than she appeared, popping into life with a crackle of energy, just steps before the powder blunette. A slow, wicked smile spread across her lips, but she didn't advance. She kept a polite distance.

"There's a storm coming, you know."

It was a strange introduction, she knew, but part of the fun in these head games was testing her subject's reaction. Did such a mundane sentence put them at ease, or was it made more eerie when spoken from a china doll's face? Alkaid was curious and, so long a the girl didn't try to run, she was safe enough in her presence. She did so love a good chase, though she had to admit they seldom ended favorably for the prey.

Her arms shifted and folded behind her where she laced the fingers together, the perfect picture of a regal statue, weather-worn and majestic in her chaos finery. She seemed content to wait for the White Moon Senshi's retort with a smile in place.

Harmonia practically jumped at the sight of the corrupted senshi. Her heart raced with panic in her chest. It was an odd reaction. Up until now she'd always been somewhat calm and inquisitive when running into a Nega agent. After witnessing a forced corruption though and having doubts about the war itself, her view on the chaos side has altered some.

At the corrupts words Harmonia took a step back and swallowed hard. She didn't retreat completely though. Mainly because she feared showing her back to the nega but also because, despite the rather abrupt entrance, the other senshi didn't move any closer. A little voice in Harmonia's head was whispering faintly to her that maybe she had gotten lucky tonight and not come face to face with one of the worse of the Negaverse. she could only hope because the aura this woman exuded was worrisome the Super Senshi.

"It's far enough away right now." She responded a bit shakily. She mentally cursed her voice for betraying her fear even more than her stiff body was.

As she stood and stared at this senshi though, Harmonia couldn't help but furrow her brows. She looked so...different. Something she'd never really seen before. The corrupted looked like a good hard knock would make her shatter like a fragile china doll. It was confusing to look at such a fragile looking exterior but know that the aura spoke of quite a chaotic and strong being.

"Who are you? What...are you?" There was the kitten-like curiosity peeking it's head through the obvious fear.

The telltale signs of Harmonia's fear were easy for an observant creature like Alkaid to see. The shaky voice, the stiff form, both were traits she had seen time and time again from Order and Negaverse alike. They were almost as easy to read as Amphitrite's total awe had been. Despite the fact that it gave the Ascendant some deep amusement, it also told her that this little senshi would not be so easy to taint.

"Are you sure?" She asked, half turning to stare out at the direction the wind was blowing from, making a point of raising her face to the cool breeze. "It feels like a nor'easter, they're always terribly unpredictable." The bright, citrus toned eyes slid back to Harmonia and that wicked smile spread her lips again, showing perfect, pearly teeth. Was she even talking about the storm?

And then the inevitable question came and, for once, Alkaid had to fight not to let her face show her annoyance. Instead, it stilled to a stoic mask, showing nothing of her inner thoughts. It was becoming increasingly tiresome to have to continue explaining herself to every person she came into contact with but, she supposed, that was what she deserved after spending so much of her time wandering through the rift alone instead of confronting the war head on. One day they would know without a doubt, but today was not that day.

"Ascendant General Alkaid," she answered with a small, polite bob of her head that sent the long braided dreads swaying behind her, "formerly the Senshi of Guidance. What is rather difficult to explain, I'm afraid, as I don't entirely understand it myself and what I do know.. well, that's not information I'm really privy to share with your kind, my dear." By the end of her words, she had recovered some small semblance of a smile, so as not to frighten the senshi any more than she clearly already was.

"And who might you be, little storm chaser?"

A Nor'easter...Harmonia was not sure what the corrupted was getting at. She was far too stuck in the here and now to really wrap her mind around anything more complicated. Whether that storm would hit them or not was not something that the young senshi was all that worried about. Her fears were directed towards a possible more imminent threat that was no smiling at her in what could easily be mistaken as threateningly.

With her hands in fists, the 15 year old at least felt like she was mildly prepared for an attack. Mildly. It was enough to help calm her so that she didn't give in to the tiny voice in her head that kept insisting she flee. That, she felt, would probably be a horrible decision. Something about this...fractured woman reminded Harmonia of a feral feline. Unfortunately, Harmonia felt like a mouse.

Ascendant...she'd not heard of that before. But as expected the corrupted was a General. Despite the lack of information on -what- she was, Harmonia got the feeling that it probably wouldn't really matter. She knew so little about the negaverse that she'd probably not fully comprehend.

There was that smile again...

"Super Senshi Harmonia." Her voice cracked slightly and she cursed herself for it. "Senshi of Harmony."

A strong breeze whipped around the two of them as Harmonia shifted a bit in an attempt to try and relax her tense muscles. At the rate she was going she'd cramp up or worse yet, be unable to move when needed. She noted though, despite the fact that Alkaid could have easily overwhelmed her, she didn't. Instead, the corrupted stayed where she was and only seemed to take joy in taunting and teasing Harmonia.

"What do you want? To say hello?" Maybe putting on a face of bravado would help?

A flash of memory of the knight screaming with the General Queens hand in his chest as she forced chaos into his starseed...

Maybe bravado wasn't such a good idea.

"Harmony?" An amused peal of laughter fell from Alkaid's lips then, causing her eyes to close. It was an over exaggeration of the trace of joy she got from such an ironic sphere, but she'd seen Khaldun laugh this way, once. When her eyes opened again, they focused directly on the little Senshi, and the joy of her laugh faded to a small, tight smile.

She ignored the question of what she wanted, letting Harmonia's words die on the night air.

"You're such a young thing, aren't you? When this war started, you were barely old enough to read, and yet here you are," one cracked, pale hand waved in her direction, "fighting for a cause you probably don't even understand." Another laugh echoed into the night air but this one was significantly more sarcastic and laced with annoyance. Despite that, it sounded much less forced.

"What a joke. It's not even fun to play with you White Moon sheep when you're so terribly ignorant."

The joy and amusement in her face had been lost and replaced with a stoic mask, showing not even the predatory edge she often held. There was simply nothing there, all of it turned inward on her own thoughts. The little senshi was still afraid, but making a good show of it, she could see that much. She had courage, even if she lacked knowledge and reason to back it up.

"Do you even know what you're fighting for, Harmonia?"

Harmonia was getting very uneasy. More so than she already was. The way that this woman seemed to bounce from one emotion to another was unsettling. It was very obvious who was running this encounter and Harmonia had no idea how to even try and take control. She was very much just floundering along. In more ways than one.

The thing was, the words being said were hitting a chord in the young senshi. As uncomfortable as she felt she couldn't help but hear a small voice in her head agreeing with Alkaid. Oh, Harmonia could deny that she was in fact not ignorant and that she knew she was fighting for the wellfare of those she loved but at the same time, she really had no idea why all of this was happening. Why was the war on going? What started it in the first place? And why couldn't they all just come to terms and be done with the fighting?

Not even realizing that she had opened her mouth, Harmonia responded to the seemingly innocent question. "No."

There. It was said. Despite everything she had been telling herself, what everyone else had told her, that one word answer lifted a small ounce of weight from her shoulders. "I know only what I've been told by friends and that...has been little."

A peal of lightning followed closely by a crack of lightning caused Harmonia to jump slightly. The tension building in her body was making her extremely edgy.

That one small word, that tiny admission, was enough for Alkaid. Even if Harmonia didn't know the truth, she was at least willing to admit that she didn't, which was more that most of Serenity's pawns bothered to do. Ignorance was as dangerous as the weapons they wielded.

"I didn't think so."

The lightning struck nearby and silhouetted her against the dark night for just a moment, but she neither jumped nor turned to look at it. The weather suited her - dark and stormy, with light as jagged as the marks running through her stony flesh. As charged as the air was with the threat, she felt at peace, comfortable with the hum of energy.

"They're using that lack of knowledge to tell you we're bad people, that all we want is to destroy the city. Truthfully, dear, if your kind didn't exist here on Earth, then their civilians would have no reason to take up arms and fight you at all."

What was this? Senshi were the problem of this war? Funny how that sounded so similar, though opposite, to what she had heard so far. It actually bothered her to hear that, and not because she was not being portrayed as the bad guy. "Sounds similar to what I've heard. Blame is being pointed at someone, it just depends on who you're talking to."

The storm was ever approaching. Clouds billowed in the sky lit by the occasional flash of light followed by the crack of thunder. The atmosphere was heavy and well suited to the evening's conversation. Not to mention the degree of danger that seemed to be moving ever closer to her. As open and chatty as Alkaid seemed to be right now, Harmonia feared that the corrupt could shift gears at any moment.

Though the tension and sensation of danger was still acute to the young senshi, the prospect of hearing another side of the story, to have another piece of the puzzle, was beginning to overwhelm her cautionary stance.

"I don't understand why this whole war is even necessary." She pushed a stray curl from her face letting the wind pull it back into her mess of blue and pink locks. "What is so horrible about us that there's a need to fight and draw in innocent people?"

Oh, how Serenity used ignorance to rule her kind. Alkaid would have pitied the young girl if she had not know a dozen, or a hundred like her - if she had not been herself, once, standing in those same shoes. There was no pity when things could be changed, when choices could be made.

"Have you been to your planet yet, Harmonia?"

She could hear the storm approaching in the distance. The wind blew past them so cold that it would have sent shivers down her skin, if she had been human with human whims. The long braids of her dreads swayed behind her and the translucent cape was caught and picked up, whipping like a flag of chaos behind her form.

"If you have, then you already know, and if you haven't then I'll go ahead and ruin the surprise - it's barren." She paused and tilted her head as she considered the girl, wondering for a moment what the astronomical of Harmonia would be like. Alkaid had been sandy and hot, once. "Everyone and everything is dead. You're here because it's the only planet in the Universe that still sustains life. A hundred, maybe even a thousand of you, have congregated here - after you destroyed everything that was yours."

In the distance, the sound of rain had started, but it wasn't here - not yet. Alkaid's eyes burned with a ferocity that said she believed every word she was speaking, believed in it more than she believed in her own being. Harmonia might have been waiting for her to flip the switch on her personality again, but her fervor was too concentrated on the words passing her lips.

"And all that destructive power has been reborn on one lonely little planet drifting through the sol system, the only one that dared stand up to the Senshi's might."

They'd all had their chances, and failed.

"It's not the senshi's right to claim this one, too."

The ever drawing storm created an electrical charge in the air. A strong sense of uneasiness was building in Haronia's stomach as the
wind whipped at her skirt and hair. A small shiver ran down her spine as she kept her focus on the corrupt. There was such an intensity in
Alkaid that the young senshi couldn't look away no matter how much she tried. She didn't even ove to respond to the question, knowing full
well that, like it or not, the blonde would continue on.

Barren? Harmonia thought back to her planet. Though she remembered it being completely covered in forest she could not recall ever seeing
any other type of life. Not even a small insect. Were all the planets really devoid of life? Harmonia found it hard to digest but at the
same time she couldn't really find a reason for Alkaid to lie about something like that.

"We're here because we were born here. Whatever happened was in the past." Harmonia's words held conviction but were almost lost in the whipping of the wind and the sound of the approaching rain.

The way that Alkaid was speaking was if the senshi had gone out and purposely destroyed their own planets. It just didn't ake sense. Why
would someone destroy their own planet? Their home? "No. That can't be right. We can't be here to destroy Earth." She said as s he took a
bold step towards Alkaid, her voice raising in volue to fight with the approaching storm. "When I was awakened I was told the Negaverse was
at fault and if you hadn't started causing problems I may never have been woken. Plus, why would we want to destroy Earth? I just don't
understand that logic. We have to live here."

The look that Alkaid leveled on Harmonia in that moment was one of pity, though it was quickly followed by a sudden irritation. The girl was as clueless to this war and its origins as Alkaid had once been herself.

"Do not let those silver tongued followers of Serenity fool you, girl. I have seen with my own eyes the way Earth's Prince betrayed his own kind to the senshi. The Negaverse belongs here - our roots are in the army that held this planet and vowed never to allow the Moon Kingdom to take it like it has so many others."

Though some memories faded in the vast, empty hollow of an Ascendant's never-rested mind, the vision she had seen of Serenity and Endymion before they marched on the fields of dreams stood stark and true. It had been in that moment that she had felt her soul moved to the loyalty she had felt every day since. When she spoke again, her voice was cold and lacking in the soft tones of persuasion. It was simply Alkaid, fierce and angered.

"The past is not something to be handwaved. You were born here because it is Serenity's last attempt to steal the only planet that didn't get swallowed in the war she waged in an endless pursuit of power. Your sins will not be forgotten simply because you do not want to take responsibility for them. Your existence on this soil is sin."

Behind her a bolt of lightning struck a rod atop a high tower, throwing the ascendant into stark contrast against the blinding light. She felt the scattering of the energy like a wave over the air, and the hunger that always filled her began to yearn for it. She was never sated. Her bright eyes narrowed on Harmonia and for just a moment, she thought how delightful it would be to devour the starseed of the simple girl - eat it and rid the world of one more helpless lamb.

Yet they would never learn if stories weren't told. She needed lambs to carry her words back to the flock, sow the doubt among them.

"I think perhaps you should get out of the storm before it swallows you up." It was less suggestion than threat, even as Alkaid began to turn away.

Harmonia tensed as Alkaid's demeanor switched abruptly. She had thought that maybe, just maybe, she had appealed to the corrupt's soft side if such a thing existed, but the annoyed expression said otherwise.

When Alkaid continue with her explanation, Harmonia's brow furrowed as she worked to absorb the information being given to her. She had had no idea that the negaverse originated from Earth. It began to make a bit more sense on where they would look upon the senshi as enemies. A small part of her brain resisted that notion, but Harmonia pushed it away as Alkaid kept speaking. She could think about that later, right now she didn't want to miss a word, no matter how horrible they might be.

To be thought of as a sin though...that was difficult to hear since, no matter what, Harmonia thought of herself as a native to Earth despite whatever past lives she may have had.

The unexpected flash and crack of lightning caused Harmonia to flinch and jump. She blinked rapidly to adjust her assaulted eyesight as fear creeped into her stomach that Alkaid may use her momentary blindness to attack. Thankfully the fear was unfounded. As her vision cleared she found the corrupt standing in the same place but a look of, what could only be described as hunger, filled Alkaids eyes making Harmonia take a single step backwards.

Apparently the corrupt had come to a decision. Harmonia didn't get a chance to form a full thought before Alkaid said her parting words, turned and disappeared with a crackling pop. Small wisps of black smoke the only thing left to indicate that the corrupted senshi had even been there.

Harmonia left out a tense breath just as the sky opened up and rain began pouring down upon her, soaking her within seconds. She continued to stand there, almost unperturbed by the rain as her brain tried to piece together all of the new information.

Another crack of lightning lit the sky and pulled the senshi form her thoughts. She realized, rather quickly, that she was in quite a dangerous spot being on a roof in the middle of a storm. So, not wasting anymore time, she hurried down to the ground level in search of some shelter, and somewhere she could take the time to piece together her fragmented thoughts and emotions.
