Rhodizite had been feeling frustrated for days now; he had come to the realization it actually had a lot to do with the fact he was no longer having to kill his targets to please his queen. All he had to do was collect their life force, and while it left them drained, his targets didn't really suffer and usually made a full recovery. He would have never thought himself to be particularly sadistic in any sort of way; after all, he usually aimed to end fights as swiftly and efficiently a humanly possible, and yet... there was no denying that the frustration was there.

He wasn't sure when he'd transitioned into these sort of feelings and thoughts, but there they were. He wasn't stupid enough to deny their existence, and yet he wasn't entirely sure what to do with them. He was loath to kill his victims when it wasn't strictly necessary, specially when his queen had told them it was no longer essential. More living targets meant more life force to collect, as such, it was not in his best interest to do away with them all, no matter how frustrated he felt over the situation at hand.

Alas. There was no use in such thoughts. Specially not when his full concentration was technically required in order to finalize what he was currently doing: he stop in a dark portion of the park, where he'd cornered a small family of three. They currently lay at his feet as he absorbed their energy, his palm open, where the energy seemed to be concentrating into little a small ball. His expression was nonchalant, almost uninterested as he watched the people that lay before them; his eyes didn't seem to betray any sort of emotion.

Christmas had come and gone, and Nemesis had hardly noticed it. She had slept most of Christmas day, which had likely led her brother to assume that she had been out all night doing drugs and drinking, and generally having the time of her life. It had decidedly been the opposite of that, and while Nemesis knew she should probably rest up for another day or two, she was always driven to get s**t done. There shouldn't be days where she could just relax, not when the Negaverse was out and about tormenting people, not when there were crystals cropping up with Nemesis' name on them.

s**t was starting to get serious, and though there were less of mysterious disappearances, and the hospitals weren't as full, Nemesis would never let go the past atrocities the Negaverse had committed. Her friends and family were still at risk, and she would not rest until every single last one of them were safe. The truth also was that she had now made friends within her senshi peers, and if they kept fighting, Nemesis would too.

Nemesis was headed towards a favorite youma hunting ground when she felt a dark power signature. It was stronger than average, and that was perfectly fine with the senshi. She wasn't so drained that she couldn't take on an enemy. One night she prevented some Negaverser from frolicking about was also one night where a life was potentially saved. She honed quickly on Rhodizite, and while common sense would tell her to try and sneak up on him...

She was ******** Sailor Nemesis. That wasn't how she rolled.

"I would stop that if I were you," she came up a few yards behind Rhodizite, gaze casting down to the unconscious family at his feet, "Or in the name of Nemesis, I will break you apart, piece by piece."

Even if the girl hadn't announced herself when she was a few yards away, Rhodizite would still have heard her approaching. She had about the same grace and tact as an elephant rollerskating across a china shop; which was to say, she had none at all.

His gaze left the family at his feet so he could turn towards Nemesis as she announced herself, however, his energy drawing did not cease. In fact, he continued to drain the family's energy, his eyes hooded as he started at her through his partial mask's eye socket. One hand remain spread, the energy collecting within it, while the other kept a firm grip on his chained syckle weapon, "You," he drawled out at Nemesis, "Are extremely noisy," the way he spoke seemed to indicate he was most unimpressed by her entrance. That, or he was simply unimpressed in general, though he had to admit her outfit at least looked a touch better than other senshi he'd fought before. The little skull was a nice touch, though not nearly good enough to warrant his full attention. At least not yet.

Only when he felt the last bits of energy draw into his hand did he close his fist around the small ball. With a slow, fluid motion, he stuck it inside a pocket of his (admittedly strange outfit - it'd changed quite a bit since his lietenant days, that was for sure), "Right," facing her fully, he grabbed the end of the chain in his other hand, "Let's get on with this," he'd been itching for a fight, right? This is what he'd been wanting, right? For once, he intended to enjoy the moment.

His eyes flickered to the side as he opened his mouth, "Asphodel," and at the call of that single word, a pony sized youma appeared out of the shadows the trees seemed to cast in the moonlight; it seemed to keep itself to the shadows, exclusively, as if it were somewhat shy, even despite the way it opened it's mouth at Nemesis, silent in it's threat. The captain shifted his position, stepping on a small twig, and when it snapped, the youma charged forward towards nemesis, following the long shadow one particular tree seemed to cast in the senshi's direction, aiming to snap at her hands and arms.

That certainly wasn't starseed gathering, and Nemesis actually couldn't quite tell what it was he had done to that small family. They were unconscious, but so long as they woke up in the end then Nemesis could live with herself. Her dark gaze flickered back up to her opponent, carefully taking measure of him. God, he was already pissing her off. "And you smell worse than your mom's a**," she retaliated eloquently. By the end of this battle, Nemesis likely would find a sure-fire way to insult him, if only because she wouldn't stop until she got a rise out of him.

"What'd you take from them?" she asked with an arched brow. She hadn't fought a Negaverser in a while, let alone see this new process of assault. There were no guarantees that he would tell her what he had done, but there was little harm in inquiring about it before she killed him. Maybe after a beating he'd be more inclined to share with her. It was his choice really, he could honestly run now with some success with escaping. Nemesis wasn't inclined to fight someone who was running from her.

He could avoid this fight - he didn't, and Nemesis really didn't want him to. What she also didn't want him to do was call in reinforcements. She hissed softly through her teeth, expression pulling into a brief grimace. "You're not even going to fight for yourself - the Negaverse gets more and more low each time I see one. Are you scared?" she inquired with a soft tilt of her chin, a subtle movement to the side to hold the youma 'Asphodel' within her sights. "Do you think that I'll kill you, is that why you're bringing in a pet? This only makes me feel more inclined to beat the bloody s**t out of you."

Nemesis talked too much, so much so that it was a wonder how she was keeping track of Rhodizite's pet. She stepped quickly to the side, the youma's claws snagging on the sleeve of her fuku, scoring her lightly across her arm. "<********>" she hissed softly. Nemesis did not like using her attack so soon in battle, but she needed to get rid of one of her opponents before they wore her down too hard.

"Decay of Breath!" The ground at her feet began to dissolve, small potholes scattered about the surrounding area. They were harder to see in the dark, but Nemesis hardly cared about that. She cared about paralyzing this b***h of a youma so she could kill it.

Apparently, Nemesis' attempt at an insult fell quite short, because it managed was to make the captain blink and then tilt his head ever so slightly to one side, as if he were trying to determine if the girl had actually just said what he thought she had. A beat, and then he arched the brow that was not covered by his half mask, "I'm sure your own is quite proud of you. hopefully you don't kiss her with that mouth though?" the way he spoke seemed to indicate he really didn't care one way or another. In fact, his whole stance seemed to indicate he wasn't too bothered by her presence or the fact there was a fight going on, in which he was going to have to partake. Then again, that might have been a facade?

"Hmmmm?" he spared the family just a side glance before locking his eyes with the senshi, "Nothing they'll be missing. They'll be just fine," here, his voice did darken though, and his brows knitted, as if to point out he wasn't particularly happy with that thought, but just as soon as the expression came, it was gone, leaving him looking almost blandly at the senshi once more, "Oh, worry not. I plan on fighting you myself, do be patient," he sneered his words out as the youma charged at her; he was using that tone of voice he reserved for those particularly daft students that seemed to get on his nerves, "It's quite obvious that with you, patience isn't a virtue, now is it?" the annoyance was brief though, his eyes locking once more on the senshi, narrowing as she began to fight the youma.

No, calling for the youma had it's uses when he was facing a senshi he did not know; he was not willing to afford a loss. Not today. He wanted to see the way she fought, both in hand to hand combat, and what her attack was. Knowledge was power, after all. He'd also planned on making sure to call off the youma before it could be destroyed; he'd grown quite attached. to it.

The Youma made no audible sound (at least not one that seemed to emanate from his mouth at any rate) as he felt how his claws snagged on the shin's sleeve. He skidded to a halt before the shadow of the tree endded and then opened it's mouth in a silent roar. He seemed to be preparing himself to attack again when the senshi called out her attack. The creature paused, looking slightly confused as the attack hit and then 'blinked' his luminescent eyes at his attacker; it hit the youma full on, and it reeled backwards for a moment, a silent cry escaping it's mouth.

It was right around then that Rhodizite finally moved; he swung the bladed part of his sickle forward, attempting to wrap it around Nemesis' wrist, (even though he himself felt the attack to some extent, he was still able to move - he'd been paralyzed before and very much hated it, thank you very much), "That's enough," he drawled out, focusing his gaze on the Youma, "Sink," the order was followed instantly as the creature seemed to 'sink' into the shadow it had not been willing to abandon, "Nasty sounding attack you have there, but I thank you for using it. Now I know what to expect," that said, and hoping the chain had managed to wrap around some part of the girl, he gave it a forceful yank.

The idea of kissing her mother was horrific in itself. While Nemesis DID love her mom, she was as much of an old hag as you could come across. Her expression in that moment might have indicated what she thought of Rhodizite's comment, though she made no actual response to it. The heat of the battle was just beginning, and Nemesis figured that this was going to be a long, tiresome fight. Two opponents against one was hardly fair, and while Nemesis didn't quite believe in fighting fair when SHE was the one being dirty, she disagreed with the notion the second it was being used against her. Hypocritical? Yes, very much so. But then again, that was how the soldier of decay rolled.

When Rhodizite said that the family would be fine, she paused an instant too long. What was she fighting for if they were in no danger of dying? If they were going to be fine, what really had he done wrong? Her teeth ground together, Nemesis strictly reminding herself that they had taken lives before. Just because this family was fine didn't mean the next one would be the same. "So did you guys get tired of snatching starseeds, then?" She was trying to figure out their new strategy, trying to sniff out a way to justify why she was attacking them now.

"Why wait when I can get the results I desire now?" she purred in response. Nemesis did have no patience, and quite frankly saw nothing wrong with that. She was a goddamn senshi, she didn't need patience!

Her gaze caught back to the youma, eyes darkening when the creature began to sink back into the shadow. Had she been tested? Had the Negaverser called out his youma just to figure out what Nemesis was capable of? Oh, she was pissed. She was raging mad that she'd been conned so easily into using her attack. But, if she hadn't, that thing would probably still be around, and it could have done some massive damage.

"What a cowardly way to fight," she hissed. "Why don't you come a little closer so I can kick your a**?" She had pulled her hands into fists, raising them in front of her face. In the beginning, the only way she knew how to fight was from what she had seen on the television. Now was a different story, she had experience under her belt and a certain skill for physical combat. Nemesis was an offensive-style senshi with a frustratingly defensive attack. Her absolute anger was likely the reason why it was easier to snag that chain around her wrist, and as she felt the coils tighten around her glove she pulled back against the pressure.

He pulled forward, she pushed back - it was almost like tug of war before a violent yank had her stumbling a few steps closer. Hell, she almost wanted to get close enough to punch him in the face, but not exactly by these means.

"Hmmm," he murmured again as he gave the yank yet another powerful yank forward, his eyes narrowing a touch, "Apparently, so. Yes," a pause, during which he arched a brow, his pulling relaxing just a moment, "Not that it should matter to you?" after all, he wanted her to be mad. He wanted her to actually have a reason to fight him; for once, he was looking for a battle. Karma would deprive him of a battle the moment he started looking for it, wouldn't it? He would have let out a sigh of frustration, but managed to keep his features schooled into indifference as he gave the chain another yank, "Hardly cowardly," he didn't seem particularly insulted by her claim; in fact, if anything, the tone of his voice seemed to betray he thought Nemesis was horribly stupid, "In fact, it's called intelligent fighting; the fact you're upset I caught you unaware is more than enough proof of that."

As the girl spoke further, the begining of a smirk finally began to curl upon his lips, "Oh, don't worry. I plan on getting plenty close. And then we'll see just who kicks whose a**, shall we?" that said, he swung out with the other end of his chain, attempt to curl it around her leg now that he thought she was near enough for him to reach her. He didn't wait to see if that worked or not, swinging his right arm back and then forward, aiming a punch at her stomach; he figured that if he was fast enough attacking, he'd confuse her and either the chain or his punch would connect. He just needed her incapacitated or winded enough so he could kill her; he knew their queen didn't really need starseeds any more. But he was sure that taking down the senshi by any means, star seed robbed or not, would still please the queen, even if she was no longer looking for seeds. Failing that... well, he'd think of something later, once the senshi was out of commission.

"Asphodel," the word was murmured under his breath, and despite the fact the youma was slightly incapacitated, it still appeared, the head surfacing just slightly out of the shadows by Nemesis' foot. The skull remain hovering just barely out of the shadow in a way that seemed reminiscent of a crocodile, and without needing more instructions, opened it's mouth with obvious difficulty and then aimed to clamp it down on the senshi's foot. Rhodizite was glad the girl was furious enough (not to mention impatient enough) to have failed to notice the fact his youma could not come out of the shadows. He was also glad he'd picked a particularly dark section of the park, seeing as how light would have incapacitated the youma and made it impossible for it to attack.
PostPosted: Sun Dec 26, 2010 1:43 pm

They weren't snatching starseeds any more? Had they finally stolen away enough lives to find a means to their end? It seemed like it, and while Nemesis felt less wronged by them stealing energy, she could not forgive them for the past lives they had ruined. Besides, so long as she lived on this planet, she was not going to fall under goddamn Beryl's rule. Nemesis would not be lorded by that b***h. "I think your definition of cowardly and mine are quite different. I suppose you're not physically strong enough to do anything but rely no cheap-a** tricks."

Nemesis was getting adjusted to her opponent's fighting style, and she refused to be snagged by that chain again. She sidestepped effortlessly out of the way, but in doing so lost sight of Rhodizite for a precious second. That second was long enough for him to close the distance between them. His fist collided cruelly into her stomach, and she crumpled forward, releasing a soft gasp for breath. <********>, she normally didn't get her a** handed to her so bluntly. Nemesis could fight better than this.

She swung her leg in a high arch, trying to drive the heel of her shoe into her opponent's side. It was stupid to think that she wouldn't retaliate, though her movements were almost sluggish. She was still winded, and trying her hardest to put in a counter attack before he landed another blow. A scream of pain was enough to indicate that the youma had found its target, its jaw clamping around its foot. It was stupid of Nemesis to think the creature was out of the battle for good.

But, it also seemed like pain was a good motivator. She should have fallen over by now, but the chain around her wrist was proving to help steady her, enough that she could try and aim a punch at his face with her free fist. She was hurting, and winded, and only now seemed to be trying to kick things up a notch.

The satisfied smirk that crossed his lips when he felt his fist connect with her middle was the answer he needed to offer her when she pointed out how she thought he might be physically weak, "Think again," he drew near enough to murmur those words, his tone of voice still obnoxiously calm despite the battle at hand. Granted, his smirk had taken on a mildly sadistic edge, which seemed to betray the fact he wasn't calm and controlled as he was letting on.

Her first attack was dodged with difficulty, though this had more to do with the fact he still had leverage with his chain (not to mention the fact his youma had clamped it's jaws over her foot). Her second attack, however, hit him square across the jaw, with enough force to turn his head, blood slipping down his broken lip, where it'd smashed against his teeth painfully. The force of the hit had left him reeling, with the beginnings of a headache, but the adrenaline coursing through him would not allow him to distract himself from the action at hand. He was sure it'd hurt like hell later, but for now, he turned his face towards her, scowling from behind his half mask, "Enough," he made a small movement with his head and the Youma that bellow them move, this time with more efficiency as the effects of the attack started to dissipate.

With it's jaws still clamped over Nemesis' foot, it came out of the shadow and tugged, no doubt trying to get the senshi to lose her balance. Working in tandem with the creature, Rhodizite moved too, attempting to curl the chain around the girl's neck; if he unmobilized her arm like that and threw her off balance, he'd effectively be able to reach for her seed. While it was true the queen didn't need the seeds anymore... he could not think of a more effective way to take out the senshi at that precise moment. He'd apparently decided there was no more need for words; hell, he hadn't even introduced himself, not that it mattered, of course, seeing as how he'd intended on killing her from the start.

Nemesis could only revel in her successful punch for a few moments. It didn't really dim the fact that Rhodizite had almost complete control of this battle. Nemesis was rooted to the spot, the youma's teeth cruelly clamped over her foot, the chain still wrenched tight around her wrist. She had been stupid to let herself get caught like this. But, everything about the way Nemesis was fighting was true to her style - she had just caught up to an opponent that was matched to win. He was cunning, and he fought to win. Nemesis also fought to win, but she just wasn't ever... that smart about it.

"I think," she drawled with a vicious curl of her lips, "that I hate you."

It was a miracle that she had gotten the words out before she felt her leg being pulled out from underneath her. The steadying chain around her wrist was hardly enough to keep her upright. She fell hard onto the cold ground, releasing a pained groan as she felt that chain coil around her neck. s**t. This was bad, this was really bad. This was more than just ******** bad, but she couldn't think of a better word at the ********, think... But, thinking wasn't something she was accustomed to doing, especially not in the middle of a battle. Blindly she groped for his ankle, as if she could somehow close her fingers around his boot and drag him down onto the ground with her. She'd at least have a fighting chance that way.

The battle was, thankfully, playing out in his favor, which was most sattisfying, actually. He hadn't had a good battle in quite some time, having kept his nightly activities to a minimum in favor of taking care of Khalla, whom he felt needed his attention more. That and... honestly, he wasn't sure how many excuses he could come up with for a broken lip, scratches, or broken bones, so he'd been as stealthy as possible with his attacks. Tonight though, for the first night in a rather long time, he knew Khalla wouldn't be back home. At least not for a long while, which would allow him more than enough time to mend himself, and in the light of broken bones? Well, he'd have thought of something then, he was sure.

Pent up frustration had been too much to ignore, and he had to admit this had been exactly what he'd needed, "That's good to hear," the words were murmured down at her in a low voice; it never seemed to raise in pitch, "The feeling can be mutual," it was right around then that he felt her hand clamp around his ankle, but his position gave him very little leverage to do anything about it. Instead, he tightened his grip on the chains around her neck and squeezed, trying to knock the air entirely out of the girl; an unconscious girl was a defenseless girl, after all. He just hoped he could pull it off before she managed to tug with enough force to pull his foot from under him.

Rhodizite had been so concentrated on the girl he was attempting to suffocate that he'f momentarily forgotten about his Youma. The creature, however, had been watching, and when the captain finally raised his head just so and looked it in the eye, and gave a silent 'cry' and then lashed out with it's fore claws, aiming to dig them into Nemesis' forearm. Just a bit more, he thought to himself as he eyed the girl, just a tiny bit more...

This was not good. Nemesis hadn't felt so vulnerable in a long time, and now, in this battle, was not the time for her to be vulnerable. She had to be strong, or she would die. It had never quite registered to her that she could die in battle. Usually she had some sort of half-assed back up plan, just in case she got into trouble. Right now, her back up plan had been expended already. In a battle with two against one, and the two being equally matched opponents, the one was certain to lose. Goddamn, wasn't this why she was in the BMC, for a little ******** back ********," she wheezed, the gravity of the situation falling onto her shoulders like a heavy weight. The chain was tightening around her neck, and she probably shouldn't have used that breath to talk. She should have conserved her energy, because now she hardly had the strength to trip Rhodizite up.By the time the youma's claws scored across her arm, she didn't have breath enough to cry out, there was no voice to express her pain. She struggled weakly, as if she could still get away. It was one thing to give her credit for, it was rare when she outright gave up and waited for bad things to happen to her.

She'd fight to her very last breath for everything she believed in.

Her vision began to blur, her fingers around Rhodizite's ankle slackening. A few seconds was all it took for her to lose her grip on consciousness, finally stilling against the grass underneath her.

"Guiding Light, Magnified!" The call rang out, echoing off the buildings close by, and two balls of light went flying for the hands that gripped the nega's chain.

Alkaid stood nearby, her lips set into a grim line, and her fists up like she was ready for battle. Why did she have to keep doing this? She'd sworn off her senshi duties, this part of her life, and just wanted to live like a normal person. Yet, when she heard the fight and saw who it involved.. she couldn't help it. It was Nemesis and this creep. It also looked like Nemesis really needed her help and for whatever reason, she couldn't deny that. No matter how tiresome this life was, no matter how her day had been, she couldn't watch Nemesis die.

"Okay you creep, let her go!" She narrowed her eyes on the long-haired nega she had encountered once before, though she was pretty sure.. there was something different about him now. An upgrade maybe? No matter, she just had to distract him long enough for Nemesis to get her bearings. "Come over here so I can give you another.. butt-kicking." She frowned a little at her choice of insults, but she didn't curse and that left her smack talking a little lacking.
