She had a job to do, energy to collect and senshi to exorcise. Unfortunately, Alkaid had a hard time concentrating on her job when she was left alone with no guidance.
Instead she was wandering by moonlight through the darker corners of the park, left untouched by streetlamps at this lonely hour of the night. Occasionally she could see a human walking hurriedly down a well-lit path, or an animal skittering across the ground ahead. This place was lonely and abandoned for the most part and that was just the way she liked it. Her thoughts flowed better when she could escape the hustle and bustle of Destiny City.
The moon hung heavy in the sky overhead, full and bright enough to light the way for anyone not crippled by a reliance on artificial light. Alkaid let her feet find a way in the darkness as she searched for stars overhead, looking for constellations she recognized, naming off one sparkling pinprick after the other. She'd had a good knowledge of the stars even before she'd picked up a few books and now she knew a large portion of them by heart. It was no wonder she was fascinated - her senshi life was all she remembered. Unfortunately, there were probably better ways to occupy her time than trying to connect the senshi she remembered to stars overhead. Even if she could do it with a handful, the knowledge did open up any new doors to the darkness in her mind.
So she was just left aimless, wandering without a destination, and ignoring all her responsibilities without a captain or general at hand to push her in the right direction.

It appeared that the corrupted senshi wasn't the only one evading the duties given to them by the higher ups. Lieutenant Labyrinthite walked casually through the park under the charade that he was out looking for victims to drain energy from. Truthfully the boy hadn't been fulfilling his energy quota quickly and efficiently yet he seemed hardly troubled by it.
He had a hard time with authority, something the negaverse would surely knock out of him quickly. But for now he was given the moment to take time to himself, to patrol without really patrolling. He figured that he could find some stranger and suck energy from them before the end of the night easily so he was taking his time.
The park grew darker and darker as the pink haired teen drifted deeper into dark corners of the park, the ones usually avoided by normal, plain people. Yet the lieutenant traveled farther and farther until only the moonlight lit his path, it was as though something was drawing him in, which when he would take a moment to reflect on the night later he would realize something was.
He couldn't have been more than a few yards away from Alkaid when he felt the strong pulse of her dark energy. His head snapped up and his golden eyes flicked upward as he stared at her. He didn't recognize her from any of the meetings but it was possible that her face had just been lost in the crowd, they had been gaining numbers steadily recently. Or so it seemed.
A sideways grin graced his lips as he strolled forward, "What's a pretty girl like you doing out here all alone?" He asked unaware that his words could make him seem like a complete creep or rapist. He had meant to be charming, not creepy.

Alkaid was startled when a voice broke through the darkness, so distracted that she hadn't even felt the dark energy approaching. She stumbled slightly, mid-step, but caught herself before she completely tumbled over. Now fully aware, she could tell that his energy wasn't very strong - no doubt a lieutenant, but definitely one she had never seen before. She would know, because she was sure she had never seen hair quite like that.
She stood back up straighter and crossed her arms over her chest, not looking exactly inviting. He was being kind of creepy though, in her defense. She just glanced him over in silence for a moment, but once she decided he was probably no threat to her even if he wanted to be, she uncrossed her arms and relaxed the tiniest fraction.
"Probably the same thing you are," she replied, without much feeling. She was sour now that she had been startled and was trying not to sulk about it by covering it up with stoniness.

It was only after she folded her arms over her chest and responded to him quite coldly that he realized just how bad his choice of words was. Still her cold attitude didn't seem to bother him, he didn't turn away nor did he stop grinning. It wasn't like she had told him to leave or anything. She had just answered his question.
"So just taking a walk and thinking?" He asked because that had been what he was doing. Though he hadn't been thinking about anything important, really, just letting thought come and go as he walked deeper into the park.
"Would you mind some company?" He asked casually, stopping a few feet away from her with his hands tucked into his pockets. He knew he could use some company, patrolling could get boring and he was letting himself think too much about things. He didn't like reflecting on things too much.
"Oh, I'm Lieutenant Labyrinthite," he quickly introduced himself with an over exaggerated bow. He was quite the character.

Alkaid wasn't particularly looking for company, but she had to admit that his silly bow won him favor. Even if it was a little dramatic, it was still respectful and a little respect went a long way in her book.
"I suppose a little company wouldn't be so bad," she uncrossed her arms and let out a small sigh, though she quickly covered it up with a strained smile. She supposed it wasn't his fault that she had been in a sour mood even before he'd interrupted, she couldn't expect him to know how to judge a stranger.
"It's nice to meet you Labyrinthite, I'm Sailor Alkaid." She managed her own nod, inclining her head in response to his dramatic bow. "And yes, I guess that's all I was really doing." It was all she ever did, really, though she felt guilty for putting off all of her duties to the negaverse off in favor of idle wandering but she just didn't have the heart for it tonight. It's not like she had any specific orders to do anything tonight anyway.

Though it appeared as those Lt. Labyrinthite wasn't good at judging strangers he liked to think differently. Instead of judging them from the get go he preferred to see how they reacted to a stranger coming up to them and interacting with them like they had known, or knew them. He felt as though it was an easier way to break the ice than some cheesy pick up line, like 'how much does a polar bear weigh?' wait a beat then say 'enough to break the ice'. Though at the same time, depending on how he approached it, that pick up line could be very, very entertaining.
"The pleasure is all mine," he replied courteously giving her the most charming smile he had. He reached in his pocket and pulled out a copper coin holding it out to her as he leaned forward, almost in the same position one would hold a bow in. "Penny for your thoughts?" He offered.
His amber eyes peered up at her, his expression that of curiosity and delight as he eagerly awaited her reply. He was a curious individual who loved to know more about the girls he found attractive.

Okay, even Alkaid with her limited social knowledge had to admit that the penny thing.. was a little cheesy. Regardless, she also found it amusing and a little charming. Indulging him couldn't hurt, right? She was smiling truthfully as she reached out with gloved hands to pick up the copper coin. She turned it over a few times between her thumb and pointer, then wrapped it in her fist.
"I'm afraid that my thoughts are probably not very entertaining considering there are very few of them left." She pulled her fist against her chest, as if the penny were a fine treasure worth guarding - maybe it was as far as analogies went. "But if you want to be bored."
She took a few steps and then looked back at him to make sure he got the message. Once she was sure he couldn't possibly mistake her intent, she continued on and waited for him to fall into step beside her. "I was just thinking about the stars, which is all I really seem to do these days. One of my last memories is of visiting a dark, lonely planet."

His gesture was cheesy but it worked and to Chase, that was all that mattered as she plucked the coin from his hand. He straightened himself as she pulled her fist to her chest, arching a brow as she spoke. "I disagree," he shook his head, "a thought is always entertaining, if the right person is listening." He shrugged his shoulders as he watched her, as though he was trying to decipher her.
"I doubt you would bore me," he didn't miss a beat in stepping forward, quickly following her as she began to walk away. When she looked back he smiled a sideways smile, as if there was something up his sleeve.
"Visiting a planet?" He was confused about that, did that mean that she could travel in to space? He pressed his lips together in thought trying to decide the best way to approach the question forming on his tongue. "How did you manage to do that? Could you teach me?" He was joking but the look on his face was that of an eager one. Who didn't dream of traveling in to space at one point or another.
"Taking walks at night, staring up at stars is good for thoughts," he commented tilting his head back to look at the sky. "I've always wondered what it would be like to be a star, or a planet or anything else out there, seems like it'd be nice but pretty lonely," he mused. There was so much distant between stars and other celestial bodies out there, it was probably pretty lonely.

She smiled at his comment about thoughts, finding his flattery unusually calming. She simply tipped her head back and stared up at the stars the same way he was, tracing constellations she knew by heart and picking out stars that had once meant something to her. Yet, his words reminded her that there was something missing and she sighed, looking down at the earth between her shoes.
"I don't know how, I think maybe that was lost to me when," she drew her hands up then, not willing to say it, but the motion to her dark fuku was enough to get her point across. "I only went once, shortly before it happened. The way that Senshi explained it to me seems impossible now, I can't figure it out so I think it must be something no one bound to the earth is capable of." Which she was. The power that coursed through her veins was not purely her own, it was not solely from the star Alkaid, but also from the magic of the dark kingdom.
"It's very lonely though, you're right. The one planet I visited, it looked.. destroyed, or forgotten." She shrugged a little, but her eyes had drifted back up to that star in the sky - the closest light source she knew to the planet that would never show itself. "I never got to go home, I'm not sure I would want to if that's.. what would be waiting." She looked down from the sky at that thought, choosing to look at him instead. "It's a lonely thing when you realize you don't belong here but have no way to be where you're supposed to."

He had approached her flirtatiously but their conversation had taken quite the turn in to something much more serious than he had planned. But he didn't mind, in fact he preferred. It was like she had opened the door to her mind to him and had invited him it. This was an easier way of getting to know someone, he appreciated it.
"Senshi are from space right?" He had only heard rumors of this, he didn't know if the information was factual or not. He figured the only way to know was to ask one himself and since he didn't usually engage in conversation with them the best way to learn was to ask a corrupted senshi. When she explained that she was unable to travel to her own star, or planet (What was Alkaid? He'd have to do some research) he frowned. "I suppose it's for the best really. We belong on earth, isn't that why we're trying to remove the senshi?"
Everything had become so complicated since he joined the ranks of the negaverse but he liked it. A challenge wasn't fun if it wasn't difficult. "Do you feel out of place then?" He knew how that felt, though he assumed that the feelings were a tad bit different.

Alkaid looked at him thoughtfully as he asked those questions, obviously thinking about how she would answer them. She quickly found that walking and talking about such a serious subject was getting to be a bit of a nuisance though, so she turned and headed for a bench nearby. It was in a little more well-lit area, but still far enough off the pathway that they weren't likely to be spotted by some poor civilian. She motioned with one hand for him to follow, then sat down on the cool wood folding her hands into her lap.
"Yes, we're from space originally, though we were been born on earth for whatever reason." Did the desolation of Nemesis' planet have something to do with their starseeds being reborn on Earth? Were their planets all completely inhabitable? She had no idea, she'd not been around long enough after the space revelation had begun.
"I do feel.. 'out of place'." She hesitated over the words for a moment, unsure if they were really the best way to describe it, but in the end she couldn't think of anything else and simply settled on the one's he'd chosen. "I feel like I should be in the stars, looking for my own, but I have another job to do. Maybe one day, far from now, when I've helped the Earth kingdom dispel its intruders they will reward me." She turned a sad, thoughtful smile on him then. "Right now I have a job to do."

Unlike Alkaid, Labyrinthite had no problem strolling through the park conversing with his companion, though he did not mind when she opted to move to a park bench instead. He settled comfortably beside her as though they had known each other for longer than the actual twenty or so minutes. He stretched his arm out on the top of the bench twisting his body, folding one leg beneath him, so he could look at his senshi companion comfortably.
"Interesting," he mused in response. "Well if all your planets or whatever are like the one you visited you probably wouldn't want to live there anyway." It wasn't to say that he was 'okay' with senshi inhabiting the earth, especially since they were trying to take it from them(the negaverse that is) but he could, in a sense sympathize and understand why they were here just from hearing that. He didn't like it regardless. "That's not to say that I like senshi, though there are some exceptions," he trained his gaze upon her as he said that.
He certainly enjoyed her company.
"I know how that feels," he admitted tilting his head back to look up at the sky again. His 'out of place' was very different from her's and he knew it but, at the same time it wasn't. When you felt out of place you were out of place regardless of the circumstances. "You will, or they will, I think. I'd love to escort you if the opportunity came round," he was looking at her again. "Yeah, what's that?" He knew, they all had jobs but he wanted to hear her take on her job.

Alkaid drew her feet off of the ground, tucking her knees against her chest and wrapping her arms around them to hold them there. As she listened to his theory, she just propped her chin on her knees, staring at the stars as his words came.
"I think that's the reason we're here. Earth is the only inhabitable planet that I know of. Maybe a long time ago our goal was to stay long enough to recover from whatever disaster befell us but now, now I think most of us have forgotten." She sighed then, turning her face down so she could bury it against her knees for the time being. She didn't want to appear as if she was so frustrated but she simply couldn't help it when discussing the topic. The stars were her home, the Senshi were her brethren, why couldn't they see things the way she did? His compliments finally drew her out of her self inflicted misery and she managed a smile as she picked her head back up.
"I'm pleased to have your approval," it sounded amused and maybe a little mocking, though not hurtfully so. "Since you like me so much, I suppose I'll take you to see whatever is left of my planet if I ever get the opportunity." She tried to carry her amused, teasing tone through the entire sentence, but she faltered a little over it. It was clear that she was worried about her home, the one she had never seen, and could never quite get the thought from her mind - not even in the middle of a teasing conversation.
"My job is to educate my brethren on the goal they seem to have forgotten." She dropped her knees from her chest then and let her shoes scuff the ground. "They don't belong here, it's not their world to fight for." Then she shrugged and gave him a look that said she was simply being honest, that that was how things were.

"Maybe you never recovered from the disaster," he offered as a possible answer to why they were still here, though it probably wasn't needed. She had seen the damage first hand, so she had a better visual aid than he did in regards to what sort of destruction reeked it's havoc upon the senshi and their homes. "Though I don't think that validates them remaining here, one day they'll see the error of their ways." Or perish... He spoke so casually that it didn't even seem like the lingering ending of the statement existed.
A part of him wondered why it was so easy to imply death without feeling a bit of remorse for it. Had he always been this cynical? Probably.
He grinned at her wondering if it was time to take the opportunity to change the topic to something more lighthearted. She didn't seem very happy with the current conversation, she seemed very...frustrated. "Oh, I do like you very much, the question begs however, if you like me," he cocked his eyebrow in that cocky 'oh really?' look.
"If it's not their world to fight for then why is it yours? I mean you're on our side but..." he shook his head, "you know what? Nevermind, forget I asked, I swear you probably think I'm interrogating you or something."

"No, we definitely didn't. What little I saw makes it seem as if our worlds have been abandoned for a very, very long time. It's been so long that we barely remembered them." She glanced sideways at him as he spoke that half-ended thought, nodding slowly at him. "They should be concentrating on going home, not on.. making a new one." The topic did make her frustrated, but only because that's what happened when she thought about it. She failed to see how the others couldn't see things her way, how they couldn't look at the stars and want to go home instead of fighting for the chunk of rock to which they had no allegiance.
Except Alkaid did, now.
"It's not my world, but I owe the dark kingdom for giving me a second chance." One hand went up to the ghastly crack in her chest, brushing her fingers along the edges of the scarred skin. "I fight because I owe a debt, not because I want to belong here." The look in her eyes made her seem far away, as if she were looking at the situation through someone else's eyes. His sudden change of subject brought her back though and she tried her best to smile, just to reassure him.
"Don't worry about it, it's natural to be curious, especially over things that seem out of place." She knew Senshi had no business on Earth and to her that felt like a zebra in a pack of wild horses. She would have questioned that too. "I like you just fine, Lieutenant, or I wouldn't be talking to you about my complicated life." She reached out then and patted his forearm lightly with one gloved hand.
