Name: Desdemona Anania
Nickname: Des, Dessie (only by Otto)
Age: 21
Birthday: August 3rd, 1997
Sign: Leo
Gemstone: Peridot
Blood Type: O
Fav. Food: Nutella; who -doesn't- love Nutella?
Hated Food: Sausages. Just, ew. No. Too spicy, she just doesn't dig the flavor, and who knows what they even put in there?? Hates hot dogs for the same reason. The flavor and the texture just put her off.
School: Meadowview High School Officially dropped out in September, currently in the process of completing her GED.
Hobbies:
Training - Des remembers very little of her life before corruption, mostly fleeting, fractured images (mostly disturbing) and a few names with no face to go with them. What she does remember is a profound feeling of helplessness; since she earnestly believes that she was left for dead, she has become vehemently determined to learn how to defend herself in the future. Running, sparring, pestering her superiors for self-defense techniques, going to the gym, watching YouTube for workouts, whatever she can find to help her in a pinch - her fixation hovers somewhere between annoying and obsessive. But hey, she's not only doing this for herself - she wants to be helpful to her heroes in the negaverse too!
Writing - She doesn't have a lot of skill, and she knows it, but she's taken to writing down her thoughts and weirdo dreams in a journal as a way of coping with her amnesia. It's mostly for her own benefit, although some part of her still can't help but think how great it would be tell the world her story. An alien invading terrorist changed to champion of the earth? Even if Des doesn't totally consider herself a "champion" exactly, it'd make a hell of a propaganda piece, wouldn't it? (Okay, and maybe it wouldn't hurt to get a little recognition in the process.)
Swimming - Des knows she must have been into it at one point; she's extremely drawn to water, and even if she can't remember how she learned to swim, she takes to it like a fish. She's not really interested in doing it competitively or anything like that (goodbye swim team!), but it's extremely soothing for her, and it's also a damn good way to contribute to her physical training.
Virtues:
Playful - In spite of everything, Des is a girl that likes to have fun, and she wants to share the wealth. She's more than happy to put herself out there an initiate conversation with strangers; the more friends, the better the fun. She likes to crack jokes and tease people, loves to laugh and make people laugh with her. Can she push some boundaries? Yeah, sure! She doesn't really seem to know when to stop, and she loves to flirt and make people squirm. But come on guys, she doesn't mean anything by it; she just wants to have fun!
Passionate - Even if she's a fun loving girl, it doesn't mean Des is shallow or flaky; when she's set out to do something, come hell or high water, she is going to get it done. She wasted too much time with the Order, and she lost everything because of them; now, she's determined not to waste any of her time when she could be doing something with her second chance at life. Doesn't matter if it's helping a friend with math homework (like that would ever happen), training herself, or helping to take down a terrorist organization, she'll put in the hours and the effort until her 'mission' is a success, and rest assured she's going to put her damn heart and soul into it.
Confident - Okay, okay, so they say pride's a sin. But who says it always has to be a bad thing? You'd think after a traumatic incident and a massive case of amnesia that Des would be suffering more, but since she has a purpose, people to rely on, and the chance to avenge herself, it seems like she couldn't be feeling any better about herself. She's one of the few, the enlightened, and she has a second chance to make herself an ideal warrior; why shouldn't she hold her head high? The lack of doubt and inner conflict has done nothing but good for her, and she's become a much stronger person for it.
Flaws:
Did you hear what Johnny said? - Just because Des is your friend doesn't mean she's loyal; her only true loyalty is to the Negaverse, and by extension the general kings and queens. She loves to have a good time, and sometimes a 'good time' means sparking a little drama or telling someone a secret they were never meant to hear. Des doesn't go out there and start fights openly, but behind the scenes, she does savor the discord that comes from turning friends against each other or getting someone into trouble for things they might or might not have done. (Especially if it benefits her in the end.)
Vindictive - Desdemona doesn't just hold grudges, she clutches them to her chest like they're more precious than her starseed. She might be able to act 'friendly' with anyone, but it's not just a matter of being unable to forget when someone's wronged her. Des refuses to allow herself to let these transgressions pass without consequence. Rest assured, she's going to bide her time and wait for the perfect chance to strike back tenfold, make their lives hell, and she's going to laugh in their face while she does it.
Envious - Des, admittedly, likes being the center of attention. She likes when people like her. So when someone else is getting all the praise and glory, especially from people she has more than a passing interest in, the green eyed monster sets in real fast. She's quick to derail conversation back to her own accomplishments, shoot verbal barbs to take the person down a peg, anything she can do to hurry up and dispose of this new "obstacle" as quickly as possible.
NOTE: Since her corruption was exceedingly traumatic in nature, Des will remember neither her powered or civilian past. Fragments of her powered life will come back to her own time, whether via flashbacks, dreams, or deja vu, but her civilian life has been lost to her forever.
Pre-Corruption
Name: Natalie Roux
Nickname: Nat, Lee
Age: 17
Birthday: November 3
Sign: Scorpio
Gemstone: Opal
Blood Type: O
Fav. Food: Nutella; who -doesn't- love Nutella?
Hated Food: Sausages. Just, ew. No. Too spicy, she just doesn't dig the flavor, and who knows what they even put in there?? Hates hot dogs for the same reason. The flavor and the texture just put her off.
School: Meadowview High School
Hobbies: Swimming - Since her parents started her on swimming lessons back in Elementary school, she's been in love with the water. With years of practice, she's not half bad in it either. Even if she takes full advantage of a pool whenever she can get at it, Nat really prefers to swim at the beach - makes things more interesting, that element of the unknown.
It's only been more recently that Nat's joined Meadowview's swim team, and who's to say how she will fare against the other schools? Maybe Crystal Academy's got the best team, but she doesn't really care. She's more in it for the thrill of competition than for the win. At least, as she puts it, she's actually having -fun-. What would those girls know about that?
Party~! - Doesn't matter if it's a get together at a friend's house or out at a club. Nat just always loves to be in motion, and above all else loves having a great time. Even if she doesn't really know anyone at a get together, well hey, no better chance to make some new friends and have a blast, right? She's up for dancing, she's up for karaoke (even if she is notoriously terrible at singing), she's up for almost anything as long as she's having fun. (If only waking up the next morning was half as exciting...)
Video Games - Mostly shooters, action games, and fighting games -- she is by no means the best player in the world, but like swimming, it doesn't really matter to her what the outcome is: she just loves competing.
Chachkies - Nat's not a hoarder, but at sixteen, she's already gathered an impressive little array of knickknacks and doesn't seem to have any desire to stop. Her school bag is covered with charms, buttons, and bells to the point where she can be heard from down the hall. Her room is full of various little figures, dolls, novelty bacon toothpaste because why not -- her mother likes to joke that she's her little magpie, going around collecting anything shiny that catches her eye.
Virtues: Adventurous - Nat's not afraid to put herself out there, nor is she afraid to try something new. So what if she makes a moron out of herself? So what if she falls flat on her face trying to skateboard, or so what if it turns out she's tone deaf? At least she tried, which is more than most people can say. It doesn't just apply to going out there and doing things either. She's not afraid to walk up to someone she deems interesting to strike up a conversation. Oh, the school's offering Italian now? Sure, why not! Anything that sparks her interest, even for a second, and heck yeah she's game. In spite of any risks that might be involved along the way.
Easy-going - She can be the life of the party without making too many waves. She just goes with the flow of the group, and yeah, she'll interject her opinion if it comes down to it. But she's just as happy to go along with what you want to do and see why you're so excited about it. Not to mention most of the time, she just doesn't cause trouble. She doesn't pick fights, she doesn't take sides, and she'd sooner bite her tongue than start anything. It works most of the time.
Generous - Nat's fortunate enough that she can help out in her dad's shop to get the funds she needs for all her little hobbies and ventures. But she also understands that not all her friends are lucky enough where they don't have to worry about bills and things like that yet. So if they need some help, say, getting that CD they've been dying for, or if they don't have enough to pay for a movie ticket that week, she'll take care of them; no questions asked, no repayment required. Forget how much money she could have earned by now if she saved it instead. If it puts a smile on their face, then it's every bit worth the price tag.
Flaws: Unexpressive - Even if Nat seems like nothing phases her, the truth is, she's only human. Things do frustrate her, things do upset her. She tries to suck everything back because she hates to be the one to start anything. As a result, Nat can come off even as a little uncaring sometimes with the way she reacts to the people around her. But the truth is, she just has an exceedingly hard time expressing the 'dirty' stuff. She hates being seen with tears in her eyes, and she always tries to convince herself that she's overreacting when someone gets under her skin.
Spiteful - It's easy to get on Nat's good side; but once you're on her bad side, then forget it. She can and will find little ways to make their life difficult, twice that if it's someone that used to be a friend. She'll play up tiny things that person's said, and if there's someone that wasn't supposed to hear it, you can bet they'll get it straight from Nat's mouth. She'll spread little half-true rumors anywhere and everywhere she can. Maybe she won't have an all-out brawl with them, but she's the type that'll do almost anything when their back is turned.
Maybe tone it down a little...? - Nat knows she's a friendly person. But she doesn't really realize just how 'friendly' she comes across sometimes. Boys and girls alike, she just doesn't seem to have much of a grasp of personal space. From jealous girlfriends to a plethora of awkward situations, she still doesn't understand why it's such a big deal to so many people. It's been known to send the wrong message to the wrong types of people more than once... but she honestly doesn't get where they get the wrong idea to begin with. Why does a kiss on the cheek always equate to wanting in someone's pants? Sheesh.
Unfocused - While Nat's not afraid to try anything, it takes a lot to make her stick with it. She's smart, but she's not much for studying, and she gets bored very easily. It's great that she's willing to try an art class, but it doesn't do much good in the long run when she's giving dance lessons a shot the next week. She might have a crush on a boy Tuesday, and then have a new one catch her eye by Thursday. The only real thing she's stuck to through the years has been her swimming.
NOTE: Nat's father runs a pet shop. Her mother works as a lifeguard during the summer, stays at home through the rest of the year. She has a younger brother, and an older brother, but she is the baby girl of the family.
