[This takes place on Monday, March 2nd!]
School was...well, school. There wasn't really much besides homework, tests, and hanging out at lunch. And compiling her info gathered about senshi and knight patrols when she had free time, but only when no one else was paying attention, and there wasn't a security camera that could see her screen.
So the new student? She caught Chiku's eye really quickly. And, being the people person she was, she was immediately approaching her at lunch, big smile on her face.
"Hi! You're a new face! I'm Chiku, mind if I sit here?"

The first day hadn't been so bad so far... even if it was a little overwhelming, it was kind of fun in a way. She didn't know these people, and they didn't know her. Some ignored her. Some stared. Some whispered about her cast, or the way her uniform hung off her body. It wasn't as bad now as it had been when she'd first come into Elle's care though. The bruises had faded, the aches were subsiding, and it didn't take a lot of coaxing for Elle's cooking to start filling her out again.
Compared to everything else, really, what was a school? What did it matter what these people thought of her? - couldn't she just be anything she wanted to them?
In spite of her series of self-empowering thoughts of liberation and all that, somehow the cafeteria was still daunting... especially when she claimed a table and no one bothered to come near. It was as exciting as it was a relief when someone took the time to approach her, tossing her a life line in her moment of need. She brightened immediately, flashing her a smile as she gestured to the seat beside her. "Here, there, anywhere - so reserved spots here - I'm Desdemona, by the way. Just Des is fine."

"Nice to meet you, Des!" Chiku plunked herself and her lunch [chicken satay that day, made by herself because she made a MEAN chicken satay, with other nibbly bits] in the space next to Des, smile bright. "So what grade are you in? Maybe we share a class or two! That'd be pretty awesome, it's always nice to know more people in class." She giggled.
"And if you need any help finding where things are, I'd be happy to help! I know this school like the back of my hand. The only people who know it better than me are probably the people who skip class." Because she knew that to do that successfully, you had to know all the hiding places and blind spots.

Desdemona tugged her own lunch out - packed nicely by Elle, its contents labeled clearly just like with the rest of her supplies. (Personally, even if she knew what everything was, she still felt a little delightfully warm when she thought about the time and effort her new guardian had put into getting her ready for her first day of school.) A sandwich, chicken and mayo, some snacks, a drink - everything she could have needed, down to napkins. "I'm in eleventh grade, " she declared rather proudly, "So just one year left after this - I hope we have a class together - oh! I have my schedule, here, " she said, quickly whipping it out like she'd been waiting all day for this kind of moment. In a way, she sort of had.
"Oh, please, that'd be great; I keep getting lost! This place is so much bigger than my last school, " she wasn't actually having a hard time finding anything; she hadn't gotten turned around once yet. But she sure sounded convincing, didn't she? "I hear this school has a fantastic pool. Are you into swimming?" she asked hopefully.

"I've got a year left, too!" New friend get, maybe? She took the other's schedule, looking it over. There were a couple of classes on there that she herself had later in the day as well, and..."No morning classes together, but a couple of these teachers I know! I can tell you about some of their quirks, so things go smoother for you." She didn't want someone to stumble and make a bad impression with an otherwise wonderful teacher!
"I can show you around after we finish eating! Nice thing about us bringing our own lunches...we don't have to wait in line." She motioned to the crowd of students going through the lunch lines, then giggled. "We do have a pretty awesome pool! It can definitely be included on the tour. I like swimming but more for fun than anything else."

She had a year left too, fancy that. "That's perfect!" Desdemona echoed back with perfectly sincere excitement; another friend, and one that hadn't been handed to her on a silver platter this time. Negaverse friends were more convenient in a lot of ways, but... if she was going to have a life outside of Amphitrite, she needed relationships like this too. Everything had to start somewhere. "Oh that would be great; I really want to get along with all my teachers. Things were sort of rough when I left my last school; the teachers were all super into the kids on the sports teams and..." she sighed and rolled her eyes for extra impact.
Another benefit to this: it was a good way to see how quickly she could come up with a lie when she had to, and how convincing she could be. So far, Des was pretty damn pleased with her performance. "I better eat super fast then, " she chided playfully, shoving an extra bit bite of sandwich into her mouth. After a few quick chews, a hard swallow, and a chug of water, she readily provided, "Me too. It's really relaxing, don't you think?"

Chiku made a face, then nodded in sympathy. "I know sports are cool and all, but they aren't the only thing that make a school! I mean...they go on about how they're training the next generation, right? Well the next generation isn't all sports buffs and such. It's also doctors and lawyers and DJs and conductors and..." She huffed, then found herself giggling at Des' 'joke'.
"Don't eat too fast now. Don't want anyone wondering if you're part vacuum cleaner." She nudged the other playfully, then nodded. "It really is relaxing. It's even better when you can get music that isn't elevator music!" She started at her satay, making a noise of delight when she noticed the mango cubes her father had snuck into the bag before she'd left.

The next generation... well, she definitely wasn't going to be a sports buff, that was for sure. The thought made her snicker around a mouthful of food, but she tried to keep from spraying because that was just gross and no.
She shot Chiku a suspicious look, trying to hide her smirk as she shout-whispered, "How did you know?! Don't tell anyone!" She couldn't really keep herself from laughing at her own little joke though, wiping her mouth just to be safe because well, messy. Blah. "Music, " she echoed with a slow nod, "Yeah. Music and swimming sounds nice. - see what I did there?" Make it a pun instead of sounding like she'd never listened to music while she swam before, because frankly, she wasn't sure if she actually had or not. She must have at some point though, right?
"Oh, those cubes - they're so cute, " she remarked without really thinking, sliding a hand through her bangs idly.

"I must admit, I have amazing detection skills." She winked at the other girl, giggling. "As for telling...well, maybe I can keep a secret this once!" She was about to continue when the groaner came from Des.
"Uuuuuuuuugh. That was nearly as bad as a Dad jooooke." She popped a mango cube in her mouth, then blinked. "Hm? Oh! My Isi-papa likes sneaking stuff into my lunch bag when he's home. I make it the day before, so he'll sneak things in after I go to bed, or before I wake up. He's an airline pilot, so he gets up really early some days. Want one?" She held the baggie out to Des with a grin.

"That sounds really nice, " Desdemona remarked with a smile. Somewhere deep down, she wondered to herself whether or not she'd had parents before, or how she'd felt about them. Had they slipped things into her lunchbox? Had they given her money to buy it? Had they driven her to school, or left her to walk? She wondered if she would have missed them. But the more she thought about it, the more is solidified the fact that she just didn't care.
"I'd love to try one!" she said cheerfully, flashing her a grateful smile before she gingerly plucked one of the bag. "Thank you, " at least she knew she had manners, she thought as she pushed it between her lips - and learned that sure enough, she liked mango. Good. That could have been awkward. "So - " Chewing. Swallowing. Right, those were things. "Every school has a best kept secret - do you know Meadowview's?" she teased.

She'd been a little worried the other girl might not like mango [it tended to be a hit or miss fruit], and was relieved when it turned out the other did like it! "It is. I'm lucky to have a father like Isi-papa." The next question made her blink.
"Best kept...hm..." She looked thoughtful, trying to think over everything. "I don't know if anyone would tell me what they think it is, because I'm pretty bad at keeping most secrets. But...well, in my opinion, it's the student store. Most people think a student store would suck? But not ours! It's got some awesome snacks and is great if you're running low on pencils or paper or stuff in the middle of the day!"

No good at keeping secrets - that was interesting, Desdemona thought to herself cheerfully. People like that were good to know. Not that she only wanted to be friend with Chiku because she was piss-poor at hiding things, but it didn't exactly hurt. "The student store, huh?"
Not exactly ground-breaking, but it could still be fun. "What kinds of snacks? I do love snacks, " she leaned back in her seat with a cheeky smile. "Maybe you could show me that later too? - I mean, if you don't have anything to do, " she added quickly, more sheepishly as she flashed Chiku a softer grin. "Sorry. I'm a little over-excited. I was kind of sick for awhile, so even when I moved here, I was kind of stuck at home for a few weeks."

"Yup. It's probably not the best thing to bring up, but...well, it's what I could think of." She smiled sheepishly and giggled. "Oh man...the kinds of snacks...Well there's candy and chips and granola bars and stuff like that, but they've also got stuff like rice crackers and kelp snacks and international candies. And their cookies come from a local place. They are the best cookies in existence, besides the kind that come out of a grandma's oven." She mimed fainting over in delight, then giggled again, nodding.
"It's okay! New things are always exciting once you get a chance to check them out! Well...some people don't find new things exciting, but that's okay for them. But if you're excited, you're excited, and that's awesome. I can add it to the tour, easy!"

The best cookies - granola and stuff she could do without, but throw the best cookies into the equation and Desdemona was more or less sold on the spot. "Okay, you've got me hooked, " she declared proudly, rapping her fingers gently on the table for good measure. "So after school, we can swing by the pool and snatch up a few cookies and, uh, walk somewhere - I mean, maybe, if you want?" The whole thing started off more like a determined set of plans, but she realized she had to at least try and make it sound like her new friend had some sort of say in the whole affair.

Chiku laughed brightly, shaking her head. "I don't mind at all! That sounds like one of the best plans I've heard in a few days!" She loved hanging out, so the fact the other wanted to beyond the initial tour, it seemed, was more than okay with her. And besides...maybe she'd end up with a brand new friend! That thought was exciting! "I'll give you the best guided tour this school's seen. Snacks are on me." She was definitely down with buying the snacks, whether the other had been expecting it or not. Food was a good way to start off a friendship!frayedflower I think your post can wrap it up!
