All the studying seemed to have paid off. At the very least, Axton felt petty damn good about how the test had gone. The questions had seemed easy, and he'd breezed through the thing with time to spare, meaning he got to head home early for the day. There was a chance that things had gone just as well as Axton was expecting. That he really had studied enough, and he really did have a handle on the material that had been covered. This was all definitely possible. It was also just as likely that he he was just eager to be done with the test, with the week, so he could dig out the card in his wallet, with the little heart marking one corner. Desdemona. An unusual name for a somewhat enigmic girl with lovely eyes, and lovelier curves... He pulled the card from his wallet as he walked towards the apartment, dialing before holding it up to his ear.

Her eye was still rimmed in black from the encounter with Leucite, Desdemona noted wryly as she glanced in the mirror after changing the gauze over the bite at the juncture of neck and shoulder. Make-up would cover it, and she supposed it was really the least of her problems to spawn from the encounter with him.
Her stomach twisted at the thought, just in time to feel her phone buzz in her pocket. Her eyes widened a fraction: Unknown Caller. That might have been enough for some people not to answer, but Desdemona knew better; she gave her number to enough people after all, and generally the only calls she got were the good kind. Just the type of distraction she could use after this, to be honest.
"Hello?" she answered lightly in a bit of a purr, leaning against the doorframe of her bathroom.

He waited patiently, listening to the sound of the tone in his ear as it rang on her end. Once, twice, three times before he heard a click, followed by a familiar, purring voice. "Hi, Dessy?" Of course it was her. He made a face, then spoke up again. "It's Axton, from the coffee shop."

It took a moment to put a face to the name, although hardly long at all. This was more than one of the people she flirted shamelessly with at the bars and clubs, after all. She had plans for Axton, someday. "Ax, " she greeted warmly, a grin tugging at her lips by reflex as she slipped into the half-formed mask of Desdemona. That nickname was original. He was the first to call her that. "Darling. I'm so glad to hear from you. - how did your test go?"

The warmth that wrapped around his name was enough to make the young man's grin a touch smug. He shifted his hold on his things, tucking books under one arm so he could hold the phone in his now free hand, rather than trying to keep it trapped between shoulder and ear. "I'm not sure, just finished it." He was never really sure, no matter how good he might have felt about it. He'd walked out of testes before where he was convinced he'd done amazingly well, then turned around and barely scrapped through. By now he'd learned to assume nothing. "But it's over, which means it's time to unwind." Post test traditions. "You wouldn't happen to be free, would you?"

Desdemona walked from the bathroom to the living room, draping herself stomach first across the couch - then winced slightly, shifting to try and find a more comfortable angle. The encounter had left her aching in more places than one.
"I'm free, " she said in that warm, enthused little purr, even if in some ways she felt more caged than ever. Again though, that was not for Ax or anyone else to know. "And fancy that, unwinding happens to be my specialty." Her smile would be unseen, but by the tone of her voice, it was easy enough to imagine it there.

"Oh, you don't say?" He chuckled, shifting the phone in his hand so it rested more comfortably against his ear. "Then I guess I called the right girl," he teased mildly, wrestling with the door to the apartment building and heading for the elevator. "So, you being an expert and all, where do you think we should go?" Him being the one asking her out, she probably should have been the one to come up with something to do, but now that she'd declared herself a specialist, he couldn't help it, he had to see what she had in mind. The elevator dinged, doors opening, and Axton stepped inside to poke at the button for his floor. It still felt odd to him, like he was just a guest rather than a resident, but he figured that would fade in time.

Desdemona knew that feeling; this apartment had been her's for months now, but it didn't feel like it. Everything still felt more like Elle than her, from the couches to the coasters and even the mugs in the cabinets. Not that she even knew what her own aesthetic was - but Desdemona liked what she had because it reminded her of Elle, and that was reason enough to keep it.
"Definitely a bar, " she remarked lightly with a soft laugh to punctuate it. "Nothing says unwinding like shots and darts. Maybe some dancing - do you dance, Ax?"
Really though, who didn't when they were drunk enough?
"I know a good place. What do you say, darling?"

Axton closed the door behind him and made straight for his room before letting his school things down on his desk. The apartment was tidy, and both residence preferred it that way. It meant no belongs just set carelessly down wherever. "Do I dance?" He repeated with a laugh, following it up with a thoughtful, amused hum. "Well, I dunno if I'm any good at it, but..." Laving it open not only let her draw her own conclusions, but it allowed for her to take it as an affirmative. If Desdemona wanted to go dancing, then that's what they would do. Even if it meant Axton looking a bit like a fool on the dance floor. For a chance to spend a little more time with her, it was worth it. Besides, it wasn't as if he had all that much shame. "I say name the time and place."

Her smile at the other end of the line was not forced.
"Then it's a date, darling."
She gave him the name of the place and promised to meet him there in about an hour. Which gave her plenty of time to go ahead and get ready. In this case, a lot of that entailed a rather elaborate make-up job to hide her bruised eye, and the right choice of outfit that was both alluring and hopefully didn't give away the patch of gauze that persisted at the juncture of neck and shoulder. Didn't really need to explain away a rabid captain's bite.
At least the bruising on her side wouldn't matter until later on - and Desdemona just had to hope that by then he was distracted enough that he wouldn't notice. (Although who knew, really. People tended to notice only what they wanted to notice.)
Sure enough, by the designated time, she was waiting just outside the bar, her back pressed lightly against the wall and her eyes sweeping the crowds for a familiar shock of white hair.

Ax was grinning as he hung up the phone. An odd mix of delight and smugness as he typed in the name of the place into his phone. An hour would be plenty of time to get back to apartment and change. The jeans were fine, dark blue and relatively new, but he'd switch out the tee-shirt for something with long sleeves that wound up rolled back over his elbows, something that fit a little better along the shoulders. In the end he'd wind up taking a cab. The place wasn't too terribly far from his apartment, but he hadn't wanted to be late. Not for this. She was there as he arrived, and he lifted a hand in a half wave as he got out and turned to pay the driver. He was slipping his wallet away as he headed over to join her, pale eyes doing a quick once over before settling on her face. "Dessy." The smile grew just a touch. "Lookin good."

Again how it never got old, that sensation of eyes on her, roaming her and appreciating what it was she had to offer.
"Ax, " she greeted in her warm way, and without much in the way of pretense rolled onto the balls of her feet and pressed a delicate little kiss to his cheek in greeting. "Thank you, " she purred, allowing the praise to wash over her, although everything from her stance to the glint in her eyes reflected what did not need to be said aloud: I know.
Not that she was without any interest. Even if she was getting close to him for the purposes of enlistment, it didn't mean she couldn't have a bit of fun - and his build, even the slopes of his shoulders, were a lovely package of lovely little bonuses. She made sure he would see as she looked him over, "You too. - ready to go in?"

His fingers were up thoughtlessly as she rose up on brush her lips against his cheek, and he slid the bend of his knuckles along the edge of her jaw, just a soft caress, before she could fall back to the flats of her feet. She was a gorgeous thing, all confidence and subtle vanity, and Axton had to appreciate that impish glint that glittered in pretty eyes. Why she wanted to spend time with him, he wasn't sure, but she definitely wasn't going to discourage her. Especially not if she kept looking at him like that. It had him grinning, all self deprecation and smugness. An odd mix, to be sure. Hard not to feel it though, when her eyes were on it, sliding up from his feet, lingering here and there. "You'll make a guy flush looking at him like that." It was only half a joke, but his hand found the small of her back in a light touch, guiding her around towards the entrance of the bar. "After you."

The caress made her all but purr, her eyes falling half-closed, pleased. His knuckles were not as rough as she might have expected, albeit much more warm.
Endearing combination it was, and suited him well. "That's the idea, darling, " she quipped in response with a wink. Right off the bat at that touch, then, she felt no shame in looping her arm in his, giving it a squeeze as she tugged him along inside. As though he needed much more incentive to go on ahead.
It was a relatively trendy place, flashing lights and drinks with eccentric names. It attracted a young crowd, one of the reasons why the owners here were some of the few in the city more willing to look the other way when it came to underage patrons without money needing to line their pockets. Desdemona had gone through quite a series of trial and error to get the knowledge she had - it wasn't like she had many friends to ask.
"So here's a question, " she eased up on her toes to say more clearly into his ear, "Are you bold enough to dance straight off, or are you the type who needs a bit of liquid courage, darling?" There was no judgement in her voice. Either she got to dance or she got to begin nursing her first (and maybe only) drink of the night. It was a bit of a win-win for her.

Oh, she was an utter delight. Warm against his side, hands resting on his arm as she fell into step beside him as they wove their way through the gethering crowd. Confidence on long legs with a come-hither stare, full lips, and a silk voice. At that moment it didn't matter if if she was interested any anything more than a night of dancing, Ax was at her beck and call. Use me, abuse me. It was all alright with me. His head tipped as she rose up to speak to him, and he had to consider it, glancing at the bar before looking back at her. A drink would have been nice, but if they headed straight to the dance floor there would be the close contact that came with the sort of dancing this music inspired. Axton grinned as he leaned to speak close to her ear, his breath carrying the scent of her shampoo back to him. "No shame, remember? We can skip the drink if you want to."
