She had promised Ash some of her nights. Sometimes they spent time cuddling and watching movies, or relaxing around in general. Sometimes they harassed Elzo and Marlo in their loft for the sheer of just doing it. And Ash did enjoy her senshi mens.

Sometimes they went on patrol, looking for the corrupt senshi that Ash feared was one of her own. It was a quiet unspoken promise they had between each other. Methone feared the day she would run into Amphi again, with Ash in tow. She didn't want to see her friends heart break a second time.

But tonight was one of those nights, as she clad herself in her super form, she made light steps against the darkened streets of destiny city. The small gold coins on her skirt and bodice made a small jingle.

"This is one of the last area's we haven't been too..." Methone yawned. "Should we have brought Castor along just in case?"

The longer time passed, the more and more comfortable Amphitrite was growing in her skin. Her training was paying off; her wrist was no longer weakened due to the old break, and she was pretty sure she was in better shape then she had ever been before. She'd helped on missions, she fullfilled her energy quotas. Still... it wasn't enough. Her magic was more useful now, but she hadn't grown. The things that had been still plagued her in the time before still lingered, no closer to being processed or understood.

Others said not to worry about her past, but it wasn't any sense of nostalgia or longing that drew her to the fragments of her memories. Look at how she had reacted to Leucite in the beginning. Thank god he was no longer an enemy, or she might have been dead. It was one thing when it was a connection she could use to her advantage, and she had. Otherwise, it was a liability. No one could say she hadn't been worth the effort, that she was anything but determined and loyal, brave to a fault -- but Amphitrite never wanted to be labeled a liability for something she couldn't control.

When she didn't have a goal, or when she was alone, she couldn't help but think about it. Just that night, she sat on the ledge of a building, staring down with her legs dangling off the side. She had fullfilled her quota, but she didn't feel like heading home yet. The night was still young; she felt a thrill of excitement when she realized there were not one, but two order signature around; distant, but getting closer. The familiar resentment burned in her chest, but it was invigorating. She jumped down and slipped into the shadows the streetlights provided her, carefully slipping closer. Numbers hadn't daunted her before, and she wasn't done trying her luck.

See? Plenty of fun left to have tonight.

"Oh, I don't know." Ash said cheerfully as she jumped onto the sill of the front window of a shop, her tail curling over her back. "You're a super senshi now. Strong enough to be decently effective on your own, and if we really need him, we can call him. Or run away if we find trouble, I suppose."

Not that she really expected to. The guardian felt like her little paws had walked every inch of this city by now, in some form or fashion. She'd been looking for her missing senshi for so long, even her hope was no more stubbornness than true belief. But stubborn she was. She would not give up, not until she had seen proof for herself, or heard it from someone who had seen her first hand.

Not that she didn't trust Methone! She rather did, quite a lot even. But her super senshi had been unsure if the girl she had met had been the Amphitrite that Ash was looking for, which meant there was reasonable doubt and enough of it to keep the search going. It was a wearying thing... it echoed dreams she'd had where she had spent years searching for something that had gone missing. Someone maybe? She didn't like this feeling... didn't like not knowing. It was her job to know things... not to be in the dark.

A growing unease brought Ash's head up and the cat paused, one paw raised.

"Wait, Methone... do you feel that?" She said as she lifted her nose, breathing quick little puffs to scent the air. That was a chaos signature... and it was coming closer. Basic level, it seemed? Nothing the super beside her shouldn't be able to handle... hopefully.

"Be careful, Darling. It might be a level lower than you, but if it calls in back up we'll need to have light feet."

"This is true." Methone beamed a smile at Ash, "That's right! I'm a strong independent woman! I don't need Castor to forever hold my hand!" She reached over to pet the guardian and look around more.

"I feel it." The shift in aura's, the dark whispering call of chaos? It was the enemy for sure. She knew it wasn't a Dark Mirror or a negaverser. It was mostly likely...a corrupt. and like Ash said, Basic leveled.

"Up here Silver Lady." Methone tucked the cat around her shoulders, holding Ash gently and moving with speed towards the Aura. Pretty soon she felt the aura basically on top of her. the surrounding area was quiet.

"You should head off to the side." Methone was scared to let Ash go, in case whoever it was caught her. But she didn't want Ash to caught up in the fight either.

The auras had moved closer, and fast - it wasn't unsurprising that they'd sensed her, too. What was surprising was the realization that there was, for once, was a senshi she recognized by name when she heard her voice.

"You again, " Amphitrite hissed out as she emerged into their line of sight. Then again, this was the first time she was seeing them too. Aside from the senshi's obvious upgrade, the other energy signature was - she recognized that cat, or she was almost positive she did. Only vaguely, of course. She couldn't remember much of anything specific, but was enough to give her pause.

The corrupt tore her gaze away from the cat, trying not to look as though she'd been staring, and glared at Methone again with a hint of a smirk. "Methone, was it? So the first time wasn't enough for you? - If you really want to play again, then fine." She whispered the words and drew her shells to her forearms.

The silver cat settled herself comfortably and securely about her senshi's shoulders, preparing for her perch to start moving on her. Methone would keep her safe, she was sure of that. She just hoped it wasn't a trade off for Methone getting hurt instead.

When they got close, Ash let out a rumbling purr as she bumped her head against one tanned cheek, jumping smoothly from her perch to the ground.

"Be careful darling... I won't go far." In fact, she only retreated back a bit, finding cover behind some discarded crates. They were enough to camouflage her, but really little else. That was fine... it would be unlikely that a small cat would draw attack with a much more threatening super senshi standing over her...

At least, that had been the plan, until their opponent revealed herself and Ash's heart thudded hard in her chest, her green eyes wide and staring behind the purple visor she wore. The girl who approached them and greeted Methone with familiarity. Her hair was teal, but sweeping to her knees. Her skirt was cream and she had shells on her shoes, but the bodice she wore was black. She was shockingly, utterly familiar, and alien at the same time. Wrong.

"Amph.... Amphitrite?" The silver cat squeaked. Without thinking, she darted from her hiding space and between Methone's ankles across the distance that separated her from the girl she had been searching for.

"Amphitrite!" She called as she jumped and her form changed, flashing sparkles and light as she landed on bare, human feet. A purple cape fluttered behind her as Ash reached for Amphitrite's face with shaking, eager hands, oblivious to the magic shells she had called up on her arms. Her large, expressive eyes filled with tears, a broad, watery smile stretching over her face.

"Oh, Darling, we found you! We've been searching for such a long time... I never stopped looking. I-I thought you might have died, I was so afraid they'd hurt you... but I never gave up. I swear I never stopped looking." She babbled, her voice cracking. "I'm so sorry we didn't find you sooner, Darling! We covered half the city, I swear, but I didn't know where to look... I'm so glad you're alive."

The whole while she gushed over her found senshi, the guardian squirmed on her toes, small sounds slipping from her throat that sounded a good deal like a mother cat calling her kittens.

"Me again, pretty lady." Methone knew this was the worse idea, the minute she saw Amphi again.

And Ash's leap and bound into the enemies hands was just.

"ASH NO...." Methone reached out for the girl but it was too late. The cat was already in the seashell's senshi's hands.

"She's not Order!" She reached over, wrapping her arm around Ash's waist.

Of course Ash wouldn't have seen the way the corrupt senshi tensed when she bounded towards her, dropping into the now-familiar defensive position her superiors had so kindly taken the time to show her. Even if the cat's tone was nowhere near aggressive, there was a surge of magic, and then --

Then a woman. A woman that Amphitrite knew she didn't recognize at all, even if she remained familiar. Something more than deja vu coursed through her, a pang of something that was and wasn't her own - what was it? - her shell laden arms lowered a fraction of an inch without thinking, taken aback by this woman with tears in her eyes and words that sounded too good to be true.

"You're... Ash?"

Then, Methone shouted and moved, and whatever had washed over the corrupt ended; the moment had died. "Liar!" she roared, swinging the blunt shell on her arm at the side of Ash's head. "Get the ******** away from me!"

"Amphi, I..."

Something hard slammed into the side of Ash's head even as she tried to reach for the senshi that was pulling away from her. It made a sick, cracking noise as the force of it snapped her whole torso to the side. Had Methone's arm not been around her, the cat girl might have hit the ground then, knocked senseless by the attack she hadn't even tried to evade. As it was, she slumped and groaned, a trickle of blood running down from where the skin over her cheekbone had split open.

She couldn't get her knees to work right... couldn't get thoughts to form properly. All she could see were little flashing lights in her vision and hear a roaring in her ears.

"Please..." She whimpered as she dug her fingers into the curls on either side of her face, attempting to make the world cease its nauseating swooping about. No one had ever hit her before... Grabbed by her scruff, stuffed in a sack, but never struck with intent to harm. It hurt in many different ways, not the least of which was the thought that she deserved it for failing her senshi that surfaced in her mind and dissipated like a bubble. Unconsciously, following instincts, Ash curled and hunched her shoulders defensively, tears gathering in her eyes to run down her cheeks with the dripping blood.

Methone, in hindsight, wished she had been faster in grab and defense. To move Ash into her hold. She wasn't much bigger then the cat girl, but enough to shield her.

And hadn't she vowed to protect Ash of all things? From all things?

She was holding her friend, and there was blood, but the wound was on the head. She dragged the girl a little further back, cradling her.

"Ash! Ash." Methone whispered, "Hang in there, Silver lady!" She brushed her hair away, saw the tears. "Ash..." She made small cooing sounds. Anything to bring her silver lady back. "Ash precious..." She brought her forehead down on Ash's. "Stay here, I'll handle this."

Once she propped the cat girl up, she turned to face Amphi and breathed in. Her normally warm smile disappeared, followed by an ice cold smirk.

"She-" Methone pointed to the cat, "Was the only reason you aren't getting your a** handed to you little girl." She cracked her knuckles. Then stepped with a push of the left foot, speeding in front of Amphi. Her fist came hard and fast, and she spared the same courtesy Amphi had for Ash. By aiming for her face.

Amphitrite knew these people had left her to die - she knew they didn't care about her. She knew she had every reason to hate them, and she'd be lying if she said she wasn't satisfied when she felt her blow hit home, hard enough to send a hairline fracture up the length of the shell.

In spite of all that, when she saw Ash slump, heard her whimper, her stomach twisted. It felt less like she'd struck an enemy and more like she'd hit a child, an innocent. But Ash wasn't. She was just like the rest, she hadn't saved her, she'd -- Amphitrite had stroked her once, she realized abruptly, the memory rising like a bubble to the surface. With that same hand. 'You're so soft...'

She blinked it away just in time for Methone to bear down on her. Even if the corrupt tried to bring up a hand to defend against the blow, the other senshi was simply faster - the blow connected hard against her cheek and she stumbled backwards, reeling from it, throwing a hand up to steady herself against the side of a building. She tasted blood in her mouth.

Somehow, though, it was satisfying. She wanted a wall between her and them; it was so much easier this way. The corrupt spat at Methone, bringing her hands up to guard herself and just daring her to attack again.

Methone was here... it was her arms around her, stroking her hair and murmuring comfort. She'd forgotten all about the senshi of Northern Lights in her eagerness to be reunited with her lost Amphitrite. It was good she was here... Ash didn't know what she would have done without here. She could hardly think straight, and not just because of the blow to her head.

This was Amphitrite... one of her girls. One of her senshi. She'd awakened her, taught her what to do... to have her turn on her like this, Ash just couldn't wrap her mind around it. This was wrong... it wasn't how it was supposed to be, how it used to be.

Settled on the ground, the guardian cupped her hand to her cheek and watched dumbly as Methone rushed in to defend her. It was hard to focus on it, her eyes didn't want to work right, but the ringing was fading and there was a rising feeling of desperation. She'd never felt like this before... she didn't know what to do with it, but she did know what she didn't want.

"Methone! No, Please... don't fight!" Ash called plaintively, squirming up onto her knees. One hand braced on the ground, the other held her bleeding cheek as her long hair pooled around her. "Amphitrite, its okay! Please... you can came back!"

She didn't know what else to do... she wasn't a fighter, and she didn't want to see two of her girls fighting anyway. So she pleaded, trying desperately to make herself heard.

"We've been looking for you! I'm so sorry this happened... we can fix it! We can find a royal, and you can be purified and you'll be as good as ever! Please... You don't have to stay there, you can come back..."

"Not going to fight back?" Methone voice rose, anger filling her deep inside. Her friend, HER cat was on the ground, BLEEDING from a head wound because Amphi was a stupid, selfish twit.

"You think you're little armor is gonna protect you Amphi?" She brought her fist back up, it was the first time she would ever ultimately fight. It was the first time she felt the sting of fist against someone else.

her gaze didn't leave the seashell senshi, but she wanted to shake Ash.

"She's right though. If you want to come back, we know someone. His name is Castor. He's a prince, he could help you." She didn't lower her fist though, "Ash won't leave you again..." But she already felt, deep down in her heart, what Amphi's answer was. She was a corrupt senshi. She had no heart. They took it, took it away from her.

She was just...a monster now.

Amphitrite tensed as the blow came, but it never struck; instead, Ash's voice rang, and she heard. Her hand balled into a fist so hard it shook, and even if she knew she wasn't going to do it, become one of them again, it was the closest she had come to wavering.

"You had five weeks to find me, " she finally said, coldly, deliberating averting her gaze from Methone; she didn't care about the super senshi. Let her hit her again. Her attention was squarely on the guardian and nowhere else. "You could have brought me back then. - I have a new home now."

Then, something in her face changed. It was deliberate, calculated. A softness that didn't belong. "But you can still make it up to me, Ash. If you're really sorry. We could be together again." Her smile was the same, even now. Even if it didn't reach her eyes. "If you came back with me, I could be your senshi again." She... was Ash's, wasn't she? Or had been. Yes, if anything, this encounter proved it.

The corrupt didn't completely believe Ash would take the offer to corrupt. This was a tactic, little more. No one in the order cared enough. - though deep down, whether she acknowledged it or not, a tiny shred of Amphitrite hoped.

"I tried!" Ash wailed, breaking down into sobs that shook her slim shoulders. "I tried, right from the start! When you were kidnapped, I sent out mass messages, I organized the senshi to search! I sent out more messages when we found the carnival and I was there! I was waiting for them to bring you out..."

It had been a horrible, horrible time... all the worry, all the time invested, all the disappointment. Failure stung, and badly, for someone not used to it.

"When we couldn't find you, I kept looking, I swear I did! I organized searches and I didn't give up! They hid you from me... they're the ones that did this!" But it was still her fault, wasn't it? She should have tried harder. Figured out some way to save her before she had been corrupted.

Tears poured anew at Amphitrite's offer, the look on her face a stab to the heart. There was, of course, no question what her answer would be... but it pained her to let her senshi down again. To disappoint her.

"Amphitrite... please... The Negaverse isn't a good place. I can't go there... you don't have to stay there! There is a way out, you just have to want to take it. You can come home..." That's all she wanted... to go home, all three of them. She didn't want to leave Amphitrite in that darkness, but she couldn't join her there.
