It had been a long day. His shoulder was pretty much fully healed - thanks to the tender ministrations of energy draining. Leucite felt well enough to put himself out in the full line of duty again - risking areas he knew to be frequented by order signatures more often than not. It would do him some good to get the blood flowing again - get moving. He chose to be alone that night - not out of any real desire to BE alone - but because if things went poorly he didn't want to saddle anyone with his failure. It was a dry run, really, before he pushed things a bit harder. He rested his back against the side of the building and looked out over the city skyline as he rested. Time would come for him to move and pursue a target. But for now, he'd just clear his head.

"No patrol partner tonight?"
Amphitrite's voice was deliberately light as she appeared in his line of sight - whether or not he'd sensed the super corrupt coming was not any concern of her's, really. Her heels clicked lightly as she turned with a whirl of her skirt, shells chiming together as she leaned against the same wall some feet from him. "Order tends to hang around here, don't they? - doesn't seem like the best time to run solo, Leucite."
She didn't quite look at him in spite of the casual nature of her tone. "Or should I say Captain, now? - congratulations on the promotion."
It had been Desdemona, the last time they'd met - and she'd been a very different girl then. Still sickly thin from her weeks of captivity, wrist and finger bound from the breaks he'd inflicted, traces of bruising fading. The senshi standing here now, all curves and lean muscle, was nothing like she had been then.
Funny, though, how standing next to him made her feel the same way now as it had then.

"No, none tonight... A rarity anymore." Leucite said with a soft smirk. The voice he barely recognized but he recognized it all the same. He turned slightly. "Hello, again, I see you are doing well. It also seems the sentiment should be likewise extended to you. Congratulations on your own promotion." In a way - they were equals - and a younger, less experienced Leucite would have said so. Now, however, having had some time to grow and learn. Leucite was less inclined to give Corrupts as much leeway as he had when he was a Lieutenant. Oh he still believed wholeheartedly in conversion or death, but that didn't mean a conscripted soldier was going to fight as hard as a volunteer. Last he remembered, Amphitrite hadn't volunteered. To the point he'd been forced to break her. Which had been regrettable. "It is good to see you again though. How have you been?" His grin did not fade, nor his tone falter. He truly did want to know how she was doing.

They'd both come a good, long way since they'd last met, hadn't they?
Amphitrite smiled, ignoring the way her insides still twisted violently as though ill at the sound of his voice. It was hard to simply bypass that impulse reaction when he'd haunted her nightmares for now months on end. She should be stronger than that, she knew. And she was. But even she could not control what she saw in her sleep.
"Good."
It felt like an awful inane thing to be talking about, considering.
"The negaverse has treated me well. I am more here than I would have been anywhere else. - I've been entrusted with a new charge."
Do not touch her, Leucite. Do not look at her. Do not come near her.
"I'm sorry I haven't called. I really should have taken you up on your training."
She sounded genuine. But she was not.
"And how have you fared?"

"I have done... well enough." His shoulder was still sore, but he was capable now. "I too have a charge of my own to oversee." He smirked then. "Strange how leadership seems to come out of nowhere, hm?" They were letting a conscript teach though? That concerned him a tad, but he refused to let it show. "I would like to meet this charge of yours, perhaps we can get together with our pupils and have a nice patrol run. It would be good for them to learn to work as a team." Translation: I want to see what you're teaching this charge of yours and make sure that you're still loyal to the Negaverse."As far as the training - the offer stand for both you and your ward. I have no qualms sharing my skills."

"Maybe in your case." She didn't exactly sound malicious as she said it, but rather smiled pleasantly as she looked to the captain, chuckling lightly. "I requested to be given more responsibility. General-Queen Laurelite entrusted her to me personally as a result."
The last thing she wanted was for Leucite to take any kind of interest in Poppy, sweet and well-meaning and loyal to a fault. "Yes. When our schedules align, we should do this - teamwork is essential to the Negaverse, after all, " she said lightly, and knew it to be true.
Even him.
She pushed herself off of the wall, standing with her head tilted, her chin held high. Although Amphitrite smiled, there was something vaguely unreadable in her eyes as she circled around in front of him, standing perhaps a few inches too close for comfort. Her own, especially, which was exactly why she needed to do it.
"You should train with me now, then. Teach me a thing or two, captain."
Let's see about these skills. Let's see how I fare against you without chains around my wrists.

This was a bad idea. This was a really bad idea. He should tell her that it should be another time. Leucite had just recovered, his shoulder was still sore and sometimes it strained a bit if he over taxed it but. This was about pride. He knew it was. He knew that he wasn't going to be able to back down. He didn't care if she got in his personal space - that sort of thing rarely bothered him. He smirked down at her and with a nod, allowed his feet to take a ready stance. "Well then, why don't you show me what you have?"

It frustrated her, somewhat irrationally, that he stood taller than she did even with the aid of her heels. That meant that by virtue, Leucite would forever be looking down on her.
He'd smirked like that, too. When he'd plunged his hand into her chest, he'd worn a smirk so much like that. That was one thing she could not forget.
Anger, disgust, the familiar grapple between defiance and weakness coursed through her like a jolt of electricity, leaving every nerve almost painfully on edge. Yet she smiled at him. She smiled at him as sweetly as a girl her age should smile at anyone, as though she had not been tainted by his hands for the sake of mere amusement.
It that with that smile in place that she dropped down easily, swiping a kick aimed to sweep his legs out from under him.

There was one thing Leucite had to remind himself as things began in earnest. Amphitrite was not the enemy. Granted, he could tell himself this all day, and it would not help the fact that she was a senshi and he was fighting her in hand to hand combat. Knowing full well that she had magic at her disposal, and fully expecting her to use it. What he had not been expecting however, was the low sweeping kick to try and knock his legs out from under him. Such a bold opener was not generally the best bet, as it tended to telegraph itself. Eyes followed her as she dropped down and watched as her legs moved to sweep his off of the ground. The question now came weather to let her have this small victory - to give her a boost in confidence - or to attempt to dodge it and prove they were on more than even playing grounds. The warrior in him desired to show this girl that he was not a thing to be trifled with. However... Memories of another woman clouded his judgement. Of bites, blood, and mistrust borne of a lack of control. Of giving into the bloodlust of his inner fighter. He spent so much time deliberating that the answer was made for him, and he felt her shin make contact with his calf and thus, tucked his chin into his chest, and throwing out his arms, did the best he could to soften the fall as her kick swept him off his feet. It was that moment that decided things, and pushing aside his former transgressions for later introspection, Leucite quickly hopped back up onto his feet, rolling his now sore shoulder and with a slightly more serious face, replied to Amphitrite's attack in kind. Only his kick was aimed for her torso, and it wasn't meant to sweep her off her feet. It was meant to lay her low.

Best bet? No - but Amphitrite was not looking for a quick, easy victory. She was looking for the unexpected. She wanted to make a statement with her move rather than score a simple victory, and with it, wanted to gauge where it was Leucite stood.
It fell, rather. It felt good to see him fall... although she hadn't really expected it to happen so easily, and suspected that perhaps from the start she hadn't had the attention from him she deserved. That simply would not do.
If she had known even for a moment that he considered softening the blow, handing her a victory for the sake of her ego - there was no telling what Amphitrite may have done then. But the compulsion of keeping up some semblance of civility to those on her own side, even the likes of him, would have fallen away like shattered glass.
He was rolling his shoulder. The corrupt's eyes flashed to it for all of a split-second, categorizing it and stowing it away even as he aimed a kick at her. She skidded backwards in a few graceful steps, trying the lessen the impact of the kick. Her shell heels grated against the ground with an unpleasant sound. Then, she braced herself the best she could for whatever pain would come from her gambit, a sharp breath escaping between clenched teeth as she angled herself to try and grab at the leg that he'd swung at her. If she was successful, she would pull and swung - and if not, Amphitrite would skitter back further and allow him to come to her.

She wanted his leg. Fine, she could have it. Leucite allowed the kick to fully follow through, giving her ample time to grab hold of it if she wanted. He wasn't going to fight her if she wanted to grab a hold of the thing. If she wanted to grapple he'd grapple. Sure his shoulder was sore and still healing - but that wouldn't matter as much if he was able to get her on the ground. Even if she managed to get on top of him at first she wouldn't stay there - not with his size difference and not with his weight. But he'd see where she took this. If she wanted to play hard - he'd play hard. This was quickly devolving away from a friendly spar again... He had a problem, didn't he?

No. She would not allow herself to be pinned beneath him. Amphitrite would have rather teleported away than to allow that to happen. It felt much the same as that situation with her strapped helpless to that chair, and even with his superior size, weight, maybe even raw brute strength -
These were all things the corrupt was fully aware of as she managed to take him, legs spread on either side of him as she pinned him down, and for a moment there was something terribly ugly on her face as she grabbed at his wrists, or one of them, and the thought occurred to her that if brute strength would not win this first, Amphitrite had to find another way.
For a moment, she considered reaching for his starseed, for pulling it or squeezing it for the sheer sake of amusement and torment the way he had. Divine retribution.
But it would not come without cost - and she valued her rising star in the Negaverse too highly to be accused of disloyalty, to let someone like him ruin it.
There was another way, though. Amphitrite had one other weapon at her disposal, beyond magic and strength and cleverness, and perhaps the only thing that could come close to the way he'd defiled her. The thought disgusted her for all of a split second - but then it occurred to her that it didn't really matter. Not to her, not now.
Maybe it could.
Maybe if she took the power back from the source?
With a snarl, Amphitrite's free hand fisted tight in his hair, nails digging across the scalp - she pulled up and leaned down at once, aiming to push their mouths violently together in what would be less a kiss and more an extension of their battle.

Leucite had been prepared for any number of reactions as they ended up tumbling to the ground, already a leg was moving to wrap around her and try to get a good grip on her, even as he started to lift his head up and try to leverage the rest of his weight with his arms. Her gripping his short hair made him hiss a bit, but he wasn't unused to such things. However, the rough and forceful press of her lips to him immediately brought forth - not panic - but something akin to it. It was certainly unexpected. So unexpected that his body reacted in the only way it knew how to such an unwarranted show of aggression. One hand grabbed her shirt and pushed as the other came up and smacked her hard upside the face with an open hand, trying to push her off him. "THE F---!" Leucite swore loudly, as he tried to get the corrupted senshi off of him. "WHAT THE EVER LOVING F---!"

Amphitrite rocked with the blow, stinging and harsh across her face - and since her corruption, truth be told, she had faced little pain. There had been Penthe and Methone, sure enough, but those had both been months ago now, and both been when she was still a basic, still learning.
Even so. She had known worse. What memories she still had were those of pain, and so many of them featured him. To feel this now, something like a smile appeared on her face, even as she tasted blood in her mouth from biting into her cheek. Her jaw ached, but still, she laughed, unwilling to relinquish her perch atop him - instead she aimed to plant a hand securely on his chest, a warning and a reminder of what they were capable of. What he'd done already, in her case.
"Breathe, " Amphitrite bit at him mockingly, her eyes flashing dangerously. "In through your nose and out through your mouth - and calm down. I'm done hurting you."
She leaned down again, her face close to his, and hissed out at him, "Do you remember what you said to me next, Captain? Because I do."

God damnit, and all the saints too. He knew it. He knew that the forcibly corrupted couldn't be trusted. Truth be told - he barely remembered what he'd said to her. But he felt her hand on his chest, and it was in that moment that she made a very large tactical error. You do not place your hands on an Officer there. Not when they don't know what you might be capable of. Especially not when you are mocking them by what they said to you before you were corrupted. She left him with very little choice then. It was unfortunate - but he was going ot have to defend himself properly. So he threw a very hard, very fast punch directly at her face, intent on dislodging her from atop him one way or another. She was going to regret this.
