The cast was gone, and so was the splint on her hand - and so Amphitrite was finally back in action, cleared for duty, and she couldn't have been happier about it. She hadn't done a patrol yet - or much of anything - but without being told flat out, she knew where she needed to start: even before the five week captivity and the long recovery that had followed, she had never been the strongest senshi. She didn't remember much of her life before, but between her own fragments and what Laurelite had told her, the order senshi had been content to keep her useless, easily disposable.

Not here, not in this life. She already had some resources available to her: Gemma, Mathias, Elle. But she had gone asking around, because she knew she needed some serious help, and that had bought some other names to light.

Cinnabar had been one of them. So with a little help and networking, she'd reached out to her. Now here she was waiting on a street corner in the middle of the night, leaning against the brick wall of some office building and biding her time. Amphitrite was early, she knew - she was just excited, that was all. Finally, a chance to do something.

She had been surprised to get the call, taking a bit to remember the name mentioned before it had clicked; the senshi from the fun house... the one who had been personable. That operation had ended badly and cost them their captives, not to mention Cinnabar's own personal affront, but they'd gotten good information out of it. It was something.

Amphitrite...

The Captain was smiling as she approached the meeting place, her thumbs hooked in her belt and her hips swinging. Amphi had been a cute girl... she was looking forward to seeing how much corruption had changed her. Now that she was on the right side, it was green light go for making friends too... and she was interested in seeing if the new senshi was... friendly.

"Amphitrite!" Cinnabar called as she lifted a hand in greeting, her grin wide as she approached. "Its good to see you again, Starfish."

Amphitrite had heard something about Cinnabar being unusual. She hadn't realized how unusual that unusual would be. There was no hiding the fact that she was staring, borderline gaping - although it was with some vague hint of a smile tugging at the corners of her lips because maybe it was super unusual, but seriously the best kind. Her aura was strong, hell, everything about her radiated strong.

Then, bam, the bombshell; Amphitrite's smile, already slipping onto her face like an old glove, faltered a bit when she heard the word 'again'. Oh no; did she know her too? There was something sort of familiar though. That weird deja vu feeling, like with Mathias. - oh god she hoped this woman wasn't like Leucite. A vaguely embarrassed flush spread across her face as she waved back, then bit her lower lip and admitted, "It's good to see you too, Captain, I mean - uh, just so you know - my head got a little muddled when I switched over, so I don't really remember too much, just so you know."

Even if Amphitrite's smile didn't falter again, although she discreetly tried to gauge Cinnabar's face for her reaction as she laughed softly. "From what I've heard though, I don't think I'm missing too much. - and thank you for coming."

She saw the look... how could she not? It was a common one worn by many when they first saw her, or when they thought she wasn't paying attention. That was entirely the point, after all, looking how she did... draw attention, make people stare.

Or, you know, had been before the youma bits.

Cinnabar tilted her head as the corrupt mentioned something about her head and she shrugged, coming close to drape a leather-clad arm around her shoulders.

"That's alright, Starfish. I've heard the corruption process takes a lot out of you. Its the price you pay, to find your place. A price that's worth paying, if you ask me." She squeezed the shoulder under her hand as she grinned. "I didn't know you for long... but I saw your potential, even in that one meeting. I told you we'd take care of you if you cooperated and I was right, wasn't I? You're home now... the Negaverse will take care of you."

It was not something she had always believed, but when she'd hit rock bottom, when everything had fallen apart... hands had reached to pull her back to her feet. She had never thought it would happen, but it had, and she was stronger for it.

In the past, during her captivity, Amphitrite had mostly shrunken away from contact with the captain - but here, now, she didn't shy away from her at all. If anything, her smile grew warmer. So many officers were so different, but all caring in their own ways; it really was like a family like that.

In some way, even if she didn't remember her, she felt strangely glad to see Cinnabar like this. Like - it was almost like releasing a breath she didn't know she'd been holding for so long. It was weird. Nice, but weird.

When she went on talking though, yeah - maybe that was why. Cinnabar hadn't been like Leucite at all. That much she could be sure of. "They have been so amazing. Seriously. So many people have reached out to me, helped me, it's been so - well, amazing, " so sue her for gushing a little; it was sort of literally life changing okay?

"If I'd known then what I do now - I mean, I feel like I really matter here, you know? And I'm definitely gonna make sure Laurelite didn't waste her breath on me." Her made a determined fist for that remark; had to go with the moment! "I'm doing a journal thing to help with the memories, but - I don't know. I'd be fine if they didn't come back." She made a bit of a face. "I don't think I'm missing much." Just people that had abandoned her. Left her for dead. The only reason she'd ever want to remember was so she could know who the punch first.

The tall captain turned them and began to walk, drawing the senshi along with her in a companionable way. Maybe they could do some energy draining tonight, see what this girl was starting out with...

"The Negaverse is like any military. Many parts that all need to function together in order for anything to get done. Upper ranked members should be directing and helping the lower ones, and the lower ones should be doing their best to fulfill their duties. When you do, you get taken care of. When you don't..." She shrugged it off, uncaring. She'd been a bit wild, when she started, but Cinnabar liked to think she was better now. She'd been granted a boon, after all, that had to count for something.

"It might be better just to scrap that journal and make a fresh start. If it was important, you would have remembered it, right? And even if not, there isn't much you can do about it but let them come back on their own. I think its better to just accept what you are now and move forward, rather than focusing on what's behind you. You have duties now and a place here where you can be useful. That's all that really matters."

"Speaking of... you should show me what you're made of now." Cin said with a grin, her head cocked to the side. "I want to see what you can do. How well do you know how to fight? Have you done any energy collection yet? Do you know the limits of your magic? That sort of stuff."

Amphitrite loved that about the negaverse, and it showed on her face when Cinnabar spoke of it. Did it make her a cog in the system? Maybe, but she'd rather be a cog than a lone gear. She had resources, back-up, training, friends, allies, more - even if she'd hated everyone she met (and she didn't), at the very least she would have something she could rely on and believe in.

She flushed at the talk of the journal and chew her lower lip sheepishly, but ultimately her lips curled in a smile. "I know it probably sounds dumb, but I'm not doing it for anything like that. If I never remembered any of the people I'd met before, I wouldn't mind. But when I first woke up, I mean in the negaverse, I was dreaming a lot about the things that happened before, and I wasn't really sleeping so well because of that - so the journal's kind of been helping to sort out the bullshit, if that makes sense."

"Plus, " now she could laugh, even if she sounded a little proud as she said, "If I do remember more of where I came from, maybe I can help other lost senshi find their way here. I know there were people other than me. I mean, you gotta admit, the whole 'corruption' thing is sorely in need of some re-branding. That's not what it felt like at all." She was getting all animated about it, hand waving and all - tone it down there shell girl. She let her hands drop again with a lopsided grin and a shrug of her shoulders. "Sorry. Just, I feel like if I knew what this was from the start, maybe I wouldn't have ever been the enemy at all."

Show what she was made of. "Not much, but I'm getting better, " she declared a little proudly with a pump of her fist. "Energy gathering, still novice, but I've done some; fighting's something I'm still working on. Captain Moonstone showed me some things though! I'm sort of lucky that my magic's not timed, but I'm less lucky because it's literally just a pair of shells on my arms, but Captain Moonstone sort of encouraged me to think outside the box with them and - I'm rambling, sorry, " she laughed, shaking her head. "I want to keep working on everything - I'm definitely nowhere near my best, but I won't give up until I am!"

The tall woman smiled as she dropped her arm and backed away, lifting her hands to make a come-hither motion with her fingers.

"Show me your magic, Amphitrite. I want to see what you've got. Moonstone is a smart girl, but she doesn't have the training I have. Lets see what we can do with it, hmm?" She hadn't planned on a spar, but hey why not? It was as good a time as any to get a little practice in.

The half youma officer circled her 'student' with gliding steps, watching her carefully for the magic she said she could summon. Cin didn't have a ton of experience with the corrupt senshi... her times with Ate and Lellouch had not really be in any sort of fighting capacity. Quite the opposite, actually. Chains rattled around her arms as she paced, her tail swinging behind her.

"If you do well, maybe I'll take you out somewhere to get something to eat as a reward." She teased with a grin, giving the girl a wink.

Amphitrite's face split into a familiar grin as she took up the defensive stance that she'd worked up from her session with Moonstone, and quickly barked out, "Gift of the Ocean!" Her bark was undeniably worse than the bite of the magic that came with it. A pair of scallop shells appeared on her forearms, and - that was sort of it.

But at least they were attached to a determined corrupt, who lit up briefly when the mention of reward food came up. Like she wasn't determined enough already, add food into the mix and she was about ready to throw a tackle like she had on New Year's Eve. "I'll hold you to that, Captain, " she teased - then she grew serious, licking her lips before she mentioned, "These shells, they can take a few hits before they crumble away. I'm still sort of figuring out how much they can and can't take - but they don't go away before they're dust, so I know I can rely on them at least."

The Captain smile as the magic was summoned, her eyes narrowing at the shells now protecting her arms. They weren't all that large, but they should be good for speed and maneuverability. They'd block a bit if they were used right, but didn't look like they interfered with her hands, all good things. Shame about the time limit... Officer weapons, as far as she was concerned, would always be superior to senshi Magic for unlimited uses.

"Well the!" She laughed as she shifted her weight from foot to foot. "Why don't we test how much punishment they can take?"

Testing was a good way to start things... And Cinnabar was a fan of knowing where your limits were, so you could make informed choices about what you could do. Granted, she often over estimated herself... That's how she ended up here, wasn't it? But she knew how far she could push her body and how hard she could hit. The unknown variables were always her opponents.

The half youma rushed Amphitrie and swung for her, aiming for a solid connection with her arm shield rather that try to dodge it and go for the face or gut. Squishier bits were weaker bits, but that could come later.

"Rule one: keep your hands up to protect your face. That is the easiest place to hit you to knock you off your game. Rattle the brain and you can't think, blacken the eyes and you can't see. Break the nose and breathing gets labored... So protect it first." She said as she raked with her claws this time, grimacing at the feel of them scraping over the surface.

Amphitrite readied herself with a grin, although her eyes widened when she realized how fast she could actually move. And the force behind her blow - it was enough to fracture the shell at least halfway through, but it held on valiantly, almost stubbornly.

Still, even if she was glad for that, at the show of force she felt something stir within her. The corrupt wasn't sure if it was pure admiration or if a touch of longing and envy had seeped in. Maybe it wasn't so bad if it did. She was already stronger than she used to be back then, wrapped up in chains and darkness. Even such a simple move from the captain felt so far beyond her, and somehow still managed to felt more attainable than ever. (That she could remember, anyway.)

"Yes ma'am, " she barked, the corners of her lips pulled up into a slight smile at the true and tried words of wisdom - up until her nails dragged across the shell. The sound made her cringe, although she tried hard not to let it throw her off the game. "You're good at sensory attacks, aren't you?"

The captain laughed as she stepped back, still in a ready stance with her hands up.

"You could say that... Fighting doesn't, and shouldn't, be just about who can hit harder. Its important to considering it from many angles, because it could mean the difference between winning and losing. And we want to win. Whatever it takes." She shifted where she stood, angling herself to emphasize the shape of her body, the swell of her hips and chest. Her smile was provocative and inviting, in a teasing way. "If you can mess with their heads, you give yourself an edge. Greater opponents can be over come by taking advantage of their weak points."

She flowed easily from the seductive pose into an attack, rushing forward to swing hard at the seashell guards. She felt her knuckles connect and she pulled back after to see how much more damage the shells could take. They had stood up quite well so far, for Amphitrite being a basic. They would be handy in a fight, if used right.

Amphitrite stared without realizing that she was staring, and that's when she knew just how valuable this piece of advice was. The battles they were going to be fighting weren't about stamina or anything beyond the end results.

She didn't yet know what her advantage was; she couldn't imagine distracting someone through the positioning of her body, although the thought was kind of a little thrilling. Something as simple as cocking could change the tide of a battle. "I'll remember that!"

The corrupt braced for the hit, and this time, the shell broke apart and crumbled away into a pile of dust on the breeze. Then, the corrupt smiled at Cinnabar, even as her position remained defensive - just in case - but it was the kind of hopeful grin that came with someone that wanted to impress. "So, not the coolest magic ever, but..."

At long last, the magic wore out and broke, the shell armor dissolving away. Cinnabar laughed as she straightened, shaking out the tension in her arms as she approached the corrupted more casually now and looped an arm around her shoulders.

"Its very useful magic, actually. Good for combat and protecting yourself. You could learn to use it for attack as well, I bet. You'll hit things harder with something to protect your fist. Or forearm, I guess." She squeezed her arm around the girl, laughing. "You did good. For a first time, it was decent. We should probably take a bit of a break now. It seems like a good time and breaks are often as important as the training itself. If you work too hard you can do more damage than good."

Her smile sly, she let her fingers tap against the girl's shoulder in an idle rhythm.

"You wanna go get that food now? My treat."

The moment Cinnabar shook herself out, Amphitrite followed suit and relaxed, all but beaming at the captain. Was decent great? - no, but it was much much better than terrible or hopeless. She could work with decent, and she knew she was capable of more.

"Thank you, Captain, " she chirped, savoring all the little touches and praises there were to be had. "You gave me a lot of good insight today - a lot - I'll be sure to remember it, " and she would, she'd write it down somewhere if she had to. Anything it took to make herself great, one day.

Still, though, determined as she was - the temptation of food would always earn a certain excited gleam in her eyes. "I'd love to."
