As part of his attempts at being more interested in the Negaverse, Kerberos had agreed to do training for lower-ranked Corrupt Senshi.
Getting assigned a girl who had been, very recently, ripped away from her life and forcibly turned into a Corrupt was not exactly what he had wanted, but after being locked in a dark room in the Rift for the crime of being a drunk, he had absolutely no desire to actually bring the wrath of the Negaverse down on him.
So he was waiting for her on top of an apartment building, wishing he didn't have to be there, because there was no way this wasn't gonna be awkward.

Ironically, Amphitrite couldn't be more excited. She'd yet to meet any of her own kind, and as much as she loved everyone she'd come across so far (or "loved" in the case of one certain starseed molesting motherfu-- ), this was the kind of chance she'd been waiting for.
"Hello~?" she called tentatively once she'd made her way to the rooftop, taking a moment to appreciate the view. Another thing; having one's life saved out of mercy (for the low price of a lifetime of memories) tended to make one appreciate the simple things in life. The view of Destiny City's night was one of those kinds of things. She wondered if she would have noticed how beautiful it was before.
For a girl who had been tormented, prodded, forcibly corrupted, and more - the girl who turned to greet Kerberos when she spotted him from the corner of her eye looked remarkably well. She was still thin, noticeably so. But her smile was genuine as she stepped towards him, waving. "Kerberos, I presume?"

Kerberos did his best to put a more cheerful expression on his face, because Amphitirite absolutely did not deserve dealing with him being sullen and grouchy and unhappy about this assignment. God knew what this poor kid had paid for her forced corruption, and a sulky trainer would do her no good.
Besides, he felt a little guilty. If he had tried harder, he might have saved her, too, and she would still be Order.
And that was probably the most traitorous thing he had ever thought, but being locked in a hole for two weeks hadn't exactly endeared him to his superiors.
"Hey, yeah, you must be Amphitrite." He glanced over her quickly, and frowned a little. "Do you want to go get a burger or something before we go out? You look like you could use one." If he'd known she was gonna be so thin, he'd have brought brownies or something.

A flush of embarrassment spread across the corrupt senshi's cheeks and she bit her lip, though to her credit she kept her smile in place as she ducked her head and gave a sheepish chuckle. "I mean, I'd never say no to a burger, but... maybe we can work up an appetite along the way. I mean unless you're hungry, then a burger now is fine!" God, was it that noticeable? Not like it was a huge deal or anything, just - she thought she was filling out okay, that was all. The looks she'd gotten in the beginning had been a little overwhelming sometimes.
Still, though, this kind of redemption was worth the stares. She took a deep breath and pushed her bad habit of self-consciousness aside. "Maybe if I do a real good job you'll treat me to some ice cream later?" she teased with a playful wink, reaching out almost like she wanted to take his hand - but he was her superior here, not a friend, and someone she barely knew beyond his name. Her hand dropped a little stiffly. "So, how long have you been with the negaverse? This is just - sorry, if I'm gonna be honest, I'm really really happy to meet you. I haven't seen anyone like me yet, you know?"

Whoops. Kerberos hadn't meant to embarrass her, just to express concern, but at least she had given him an out. "You know what, yeah. You do good, and I know this great 24-hour diner, I'll buy you a congratulatory dinner." Should he clarify that it was meant as a friend? It wouldn't matter unless she actually made a move on him or something, he supposed.
Besides, she seemed awkward and lonely, and even if he'd sort of hoped she wouldn't be quite so enthusiastic about the Negaverse, she was still a kid and even though he couldn't stand the organization, he would at least try and treat her well. So he walked over and put a hand on her shoulder.
"Hey, I get it- there aren't many of us at all. I wasn't ever Order, but we'restill both Negaverse Senshi, and I'm gonna do my best to make sure I teach you as well as I can, alright?" He said. "How's Chaos treating you so far, by the by?"

It wasn't her first promise of food for a job well done - and it was no less effective this time than it had been the first. Plus, hey, the first cute boy in any kind of recollection she had that had offered to buy her dinner. Amphitrite was really and truly on a roll here!
He had never been Order; how lucky for him. "Be glad you weren't, " she said, laughing softly. Maybe bitterly. "Everyone has treated me so well so far. More than well, really, more like amazing. I have a home, I've had a lot of training, I've made a lot of friends - or people I hope will be friends - " It was a start, and she was new. But the world around her seemed ripe with potential, all there for the taking. " - if more senshi knew what life was like here, I think there'd be a lot more of us."
She looked up at him with a radiant smile. "I hope that changes soon. - how has life been for you here? - did you get to keep your family? Did Laurelite wake you up, too?"

It killed Kerberos, a little, to see her so happy and exuberant about the Negaverse. Maybe it was because that had never been him - at best he'd been enthused for people, but the cause itself never meant anything - but it hurt, in a dull way, to see someone who had been stolen away form her life and her family so blithe about it. She probably had a family, left as lost and confused about where she was as his had been looking for Cait.
But he didn't say any of that, because it would be treasonous, and she seemed the type to report treasonous words.
"I'm glad to hear you're settling in well," he said, instead, and left it at that. It was true that the Negaverse could be kind, he'd had Avalon and she had been wonderful (he never would have had to go through Schörl's rehab hell if Avalon had still been around, he thought bitterly, she wouldn't have allowed it).
"I kept everything, yeah, I think because I came in at the beginning? General-King Zinkenite and a cat named Absinthe brought me in, but I got uh, scouted, I guess you could say, by a Corrupted Eternal named Persephone. Long story." He waved a hand. "She used to be Order, like you."

He was right; she was.
When Kerberos mentioned that he'd been brought in by someone much like her, the teal haired senshi's eyes lit up. "Really? - oh I'll have to find her sometime - I'd love to talk to her, " she gushed enthusiastically.
Oh, but - it wasn't like being corrupted directly in made Kerberos any less important to meet. "I haven't met any of the corrupt cats yet... I hope I do soon. - what was it like, just coming straight in?" Wait, was that a rude question? That was probably a totally rude question. "Sorry, I don't mean to be super weird, " she laughed, crossing her arms. "I just, uh - coming in from the other way was sort of rough."

"I haven't seen her for a while, but if I do, I'll point her your way," he said, and he felt terrible for saying it, because Persephone would probably puff this child up and convince her more surely to stay in the Negaverse. She had been so sure when he'd known her, and it hurt, now.
"The cats are pretty great, uh, mostly. My...kind of roommate? I'm crashing on her couch, anyway, it's sort of complicated - has one, named Iolite, and she's a bitchy little furball, but she's not too terrible once you get past that." Which could probably be said of Lellouch, too, all things considered. She had been a good and loyal friend to him, but she was definitely not the easiest to get along with.
To, uh, put it mildly.
He went immediately to reassure her, though. "Not weird at all, I promise," he said, "it was a lot easier coming in the way I did. Abbie told Zinkenite I was a Senshi, and Zink stuck his hand in my chest, and, uh. It hurt like a ********, to be completely frank with you, but probably not as badly as it did for you, coming over."

"You'd do that?" Amphitrite's smile was so bright, and it was really the look a girl her age should have been wearing for something simpler, like a band or something. "Really? - thank you so much, Kerberos, " and it was the kind of grateful tone that was completely warm and heartfelt.
She bit back a laugh when he called the cat 'bitchy', trying not to press about his situation even though she was really terribly curious. "I hope I get to meet her soon, then, " she declared, rocking forward onto the balls of her feet and then back again.
Really, she had decided she liked Kerberos a lot - he was not only a corrupt, which automatically made him stand out, but he seemed so sweet, and he'd been nothing but considerate. She pursed her lips at the end and shrugged her shoulders, laughing softly. "I don't really - I mean, I do remember how much it hurt, but - I don't know, it's almost like it happened to someone else? My memory's a little..."
The right word. What was the right word? "... choppy. But I've heard that's normal for people like me." She didn't sound particularly bothered by it, really. "So maybe it did hurt more for you."

"Of course," Kerberos said. He felt terrible for her, and she could really use better guidance than the shaky, unfelt words of a potential traitor.
It was cute, though, to see her so excited about potentially meeting Iolite. She might regret it later, but hey, maybe the cat would like her, too. Who knew, maybe a bubbly little thing like Amphi would worm her way into Iolite's bitter kitty heart.
"Yeah, I uh. Heard that happens, whichever way you go," Kerberos said. He didn't want to admit he'd spoken - repeatedly - to a traitor agent. That would put Kairatos in an incredible amount of danger. "The memory thing, I mean. And also uh, pain. But I guess Chaos kinda...always hurts? I know a couple Dark Mirrors who said awakening in was painful there, too."
