 Name: Yukio Peterson (his Japanese mum won the baby naming rights) Nickname: DJ Buster Gender/Pronoun: male (bi), he/him Age: 21 22 23 24 Birthday: 23 December 2000 Sign: Capricorn School: Destiny City University, supposedly… (he stopped going to classes in freshman year after a bad breakup and has been lying to his parents, who live in San Francisco and are funding him and think he's still in school; his "help with homework" emails with his computer-scientist father have actually helped in this, and between that and the freelance gigs he has probably learned more than he would have had he actually continued with his education. As for his parents, he has orchestrated things so he has them completely fooled. For now. He hopes.) Yukio has since come clean with his parents about his life. Occupation: freelance computer programming wizard by day, DJ by night, spinning at parties and clubs across town Hobbies:Computer Programming for Fun and Profit: Yukio is not a hardware specialist at all -- he prefers his b0xen pre-built -- but he can program like the wind. As a freelance computer software engineer, he has written software and firmware and apps and has coded website applets for some of the biggies (though he scrupulously avoids the company his dad works for, lest they inadvertently ruin his deception). He's a programming polyglot who writes the most obfuscated code you can imagine, liberally sprinkled with easter eggs. His clients would hate him for that, if he wasn't so good. l33t h4xx0r: This is where the "fun" part of his programming sideline comes in. Hacking is to him the ultimate game: get in, get out, don't get caught. Yukio is a subtle hacker -- he's not one to crack a website and leave "J00 H4S B33N H4XX0R3D BY L33T M4ST4" or ridiculous nonsense like that. He's a skilled hacker and has experience breaking codes on multiple platforms. One of his primary hacks is ghosting himself across the internet, finding any trace of himself (outside of the important identity stuff) and erasing it. His father is l33t too, and he doesn't want him to find out what he's really been up to. DJ-ing: As DJ Buster, he's dynamic, energetic, and fun to watch, doing a slinky-snaky dance behind his decks, bouncing and concocting what aural change-ups he's going to throw at the crowd next like a mad sound scientist. And from the reactions he gets, his audience appreciate his efforts. The stuff he spins incorporates twacked-out breaks and whiplash-inducing transitions designed to keep people on their toes, and he layers a lot of his own sound work into his mixes. He shares some of his work online, too, for others to sample and include in their own mixes -- he loves hearing what others do with his stuff, as much as he loves watching people express their joy dancing to it -- and streams performances on Youtube regularly. Buster spins mostly EDM, but he'll in truth spin whatever the situation calls for, from the 80s and 90s to present day stuff. Runnin' Up That Wall: Since he awakened as Spei, Yukio has been taking parkour lessons at a gym in town. Parkour is to him the graceful art of getting out of the way as quickly and efficiently as possible, and since he's not a fighter, it's his primary form of self-defense. When he's not walking around the city, he's doing parkour to get around, cat-running up walls and doing handstands and wall-running and various other moves, largely in the industrial area so he doesn't alarm others or call attention to himself. This hobby has come in handy in his powered life as well. Besides, it's fun. PHYSICAL DESCRIPTIONEyes: His eyes are golden-yellow and almond-shaped, with short thick black lashes and topped with thick dark eyebrows (expressionless save for the occasional single "huh" eyebrow arch); they're usually hidden behind round rainbow mirror finish shades. Hair: His hair is blue, a very bright blue. Stick-straight and uneven in length, extending from his collarbone to the bottom of his shoulder blades in chunks, he usually knots it back in a spiky ponytail sticking straight out the back of his head and often held in place with a hair stick, with choppy spiky fringe that varies in length from just past the tip of his nose to his adam's apple, all of it artfully hanging in his face. Super-spiking hair spackle is Yukio's friend. Face: Yukio's face is a bit too masculine to truly be termed "heart-shaped," but that's the closest description of the shape, with a strong, angular jawline and chin. His nose is straight and of average width, if a touch long; his mouth is also of average width (and usually expressionless) with fairly full lips.. Note the word "expressionless". Yukio has one of the best poker faces you'll find anywhere. It's exceedingly rare to see him even smile, which is a shame, because he has a warm, friendly smile that immediately softens his features and lets at least a bit of the inner Yukio show through. Skin Tone: He's got a fairly average complexion, neither dark nor pale. Being half-Japanese, he tends toward the darker side of fair. Body Type: At 6'2", Yukio is whip-thin, but not scrawny; he's got the lean, ropy musculature of a distance runner, with shoulders of moderate width, narrow hips, and long skinny legs. His hands are in proportion with his body, equipped with long quick fingers (tipped with black nail lacquer; he paints his toenails black, too). Clothes: Yukio's preferred outfits consist of pullover sweaters and t-shirts, either single or layered, in a crazy-quilt of colors and patterns, with skinny jeans or leather pants and sneakers or tatami flipflops. And a hat of some kind. Yukio LOVES hats; he has like a million of them, and is almost never seen without something on his head, though he has his favorites, like his vintage leather aviator helmet complete with goggles.

Virtues: Cool: Yukio is about as cool a customer as you'll come across. The furthest thing possible from a panic puppy, his apparent unflappability is more than a facade. Calm, stable and sensible, he won't freak out or fly off the handle under pressure. He's a rock, desperately sane and more than happy to provide a reality check or a voice of reason; he radiates stability and happily serves as anchor with his calm, rock-steady presence and rational, if impassive, observations on the situation. He's so cool that one might feel obliged to check for a pulse every now and then. Loyal: It takes a rather a lot of persistence to get there, but once Yukio adds you to his very short list of close friends, it's for life. He's a true-blue loyal friend in return, quietly companionable and subtly demonstrative (his friends, at the very least, can expect little surprise packages containing custom mixes on thumb drives from him, with music he's selected based on what he thinks they'll like). At the heart of it, he's a trusting soul, and returns the trust he's given in spades. Hopeful: The one thing that underlies everything Yukio says or does is hope. Hope motivates him to keep up the deception toward his parents, hoping he can figure out a way to gracefully extricate himself from the lies before they find out; hope keeps him falling in love way too quickly and easily, thinking this time might actually be The One; hope even drives him to maintain his stone-faced outward appearance, allowing him the time to fully assess a situation or experience to see if it's worth pursuing or opening up to. Sometimes this seeps out through his facade, usually in times of crisis, revealing his true sweet, trusting inner nature. Flaws: Impassive: Yukio comes across as somewhat distant and impassive, and it's more than simply due to his deadpan expression and cool demeanor. He's not cold, not by any stretch -- he just doesn't allow himself to feel anything for others unless he's very close to them. He can detach himself emotionally from people and situations to the point where he simply does not feel anything. It's very much a defense mechanism, and a form of self-protection. Don't mistake his dissociation for pushing down his feelings, because it's much... cleaner than that; he's not so much suppressing his emotions as cutting them off entirely. Hopelessly Devoted: Yes, this is the exception to the coolness and impassiveness above. If you can manage to worm your way past the poker face and burrow through the dissociation blast shield -- and this is not a task for the faint of heart, or the impatient -- you'll find at the core a desperately sweet man who's warm and compassionate and eternally hopeful, if extremely particular about whom he feels compassion for. He will take stupid risks to protect those he cares about, both friends and lovers. And oh dear, is Yukio a fool for love. He falls in love far too quickly and so very hard and with exactly the wrong people, despite what his instincts tell him; he brushes the feelings off by telling himself that no, it's really different this time... Defeatist: ...when, almost certainly, it isn't. And when things inevitably turn sour, he bashes himself unmercifully for not listening to his intuition, falls into a self-loathing funk, dissociates himself from his battered heart, and the cycle continues, like an emotional Möbius strip. His intuition lapses regarding romance are his biggest weakness, and he hates that he does it EVERY DAMN TIME because he clearly should know better. Yukio hates himself for other reasons too, such as personal failure or the lies he's perpetrating to his parents. He holds himself to such high standards that any misstep is a huge personal disappointment.

Yukio is a native son of Destiny City. A bright, placid, curious child, he followed his computer-scientist dad and maths professor mum into the world of computers. He discovered sound-mixing when a friend of his dad's gave him an old oscilloscope and showed him how to use it to plot sounds. By high school he was one of the A/V and computer nerds, with a natural knack for soundboards and programming. He discovered EDM music at this time as well, and after becoming a regular at raves he decided he could do better than the DJs they had and created his "DJ Buster" alter ego. His first set wasn't all that bad and he only got better the more experience he got. After graduating from high school, Yukio went straight into DCU at age 17 to pursue a degree in system analysis, with an eye for grad school and following his dad into the high-tech world. About a month after classes started, though, his dad got transferred to his company's new campus -- in San Francisco's Silicon Valley. Yukio was thrilled, yet torn: despite how exciting moving to California sounded, something was telling him he should stay in Destiny City. He expressed his misgivings to his parents, who told him they'd agree to whatever he wished to do. So when his parents set off for the Bay Area, it was without Yukio; they arranged to pay for an apartment for him, helped him settle in, and kissed him goodbye. Everything was going according to plan… Until he met this girl who ultimately shattered his heart. Devastated, Yukio dropped out of college, dropped out of DJing, nearly dropped out of life. Then around his 19th birthday, Yukio got a phone call -- it was his parents, dropping him a cheery line from San Francisco. Caught off-guard, he reacted without thinking: he told them school was doing great, that he was enjoying college life. They spent about half an hour catching up with each other before Yukio pleaded "homework" and ended the call. Immediately upon hanging up, he panicked -- he'd just lied to his mum and dad over the most stupid reason of all time for quitting college. He couldn't tell them the truth, though, not at this point. He finally came up with an elaborate scheme to keep them from finding out until he was ready to confess what was really going on, involving staged photos, emails taking his dad up on "help with homework," and of course more lies. Yukio has gotten on with his life since that wake-up call. He went back to DJ-ing and made it his profession. As a side source of income, he picks up the odd programming gig, and along with his parents' monthly stipend, he has a reasonably comfortable existence. Though with "graduation" coming up, he's still lying to them and waiting for the other shoe to drop… That other shoe: being awakened as a Moon Knight.

Yukio is half-Japanese and half-American; his dad Daniel Peterson met his mum Konomi Hisoka while he was on leave from the US Air Force base in Okinawa and visiting Tokyo. (Konomi won the bet and got to name their son.) Born and raised in Destiny City, English is Yukio's primary language, but he speaks fluent Japanese thanks to his mum. It's a secret that he rarely lets on about, because of all the weeaboos who would want to practice their Japanese at him…
Yukio is unapologetically eccentric -- he doesn't fit in with the "norm" in any crowd. He is a collection of seemingly contradictory things: an introverted extrovert, he's a "people person" who likes to do things alone. He's soft-spoken but not at all shy, somewhat cool and reserved but not unfriendly, a bit too odd for conventional crowds yet a bit not-odd-enough for the freaky cool kids. He's a polite, impassive oddball.
As noted, Yukio LOVES hats. He wears something on his head almost constantly, even in his own flat. As for the reason behind this... Well, have you ever put on a hat and suddenly felt different -- braver, cuter, more sophisticated, uninhibited? There you go. Putting on a hat changes his complete mindset; he feels like a different person, and it helps him prepare himself mentally for the task at hand. (Yes, he has different hats for different tasks: DJ-ing hats, hacking hats, coding hats, sound-mixing hats, clubbing hats, etc.)
The thing people tend to find most disconcerting about Yukio is his deadpan, stone-faced expression. He has the best poker face ever and the ability to hold it no matter what; it's very hard to get a visible reaction out of him, over anything. (If you do manage somehow to get a reaction, even if it's just a smile or a soft snort, pat yourself on the back and consider yourself a pro -- and remember what you did, because he'll remember and won't let you get away with it again. Unless you're cute.)
It's a not-so-secret weakness, but Yukio is a complete sucker for fuzzy, fluffy, wide-eyed kitten-level cuteness. While he does have quite the soft spot for little furry critters, this applies mostly to cute people. Bat your adorably huge eyes at him, and his sweet gooey cherry cordial center will ooze out through the seemingly impenetrable outer shell and he will be all but useless. Cute people (and cats) can literally wrap him around their little finger (or toebean). random likes: EDM, clove cigarettes, winter (he can pile on layers and layers of clothes and hats), boba tea (the tapioca pearls make AWESOME projectiles), tea in general, Japanese food, the hum of electronic equipment random dislikes: sports, people with no sense of humor, pop music (especially 80s stuff, though he spins it and samples from it shamelessly), the subway, coffee, nattō (even though his mum loves it -- eww)

Squire Weapon: A small white-metal buckler approx. 12 inches across. Its polished surface reflects only moonlight, even when the moon isn't visible in the sky. Spei can direct a glowing reflection from his buckler to his allies, which bolsters their spirits and gives them a strong sense of hope in battle. This glowing beam of reflected moonlight has a 15ft range, with a 30 second magic pool. Spei can also use the buckler to deflect blows, ranged attacks, etc. like a normal shield. Knight Weapon:A round silver shield approx. 24 inches across, with a round boss in the center. Its highly polished surface reflects only moonlight, even when the moon isn't visible in the sky. Spei can direct a glowing reflection from his shield to his allies, which bolsters their spirits and gives them an overwhelmingly strong sense of hope in battle. This glowing beam of reflected moonlight has a range of 30ft, with a 60 second magic pool. Spei can also use the shield to deflect blows, ranged attacks, etc. like a normal shield. Forgotten Spell Enhancement – Moonlight Blast: From his shield, Spei can unleash a brilliant blast of concentrated moonlight about the size of a baseball at a single enemy target. The force of the impact knocks the target back around 12ft; the moonlight fills them with a profound sense of enlightenment, that maybe the Negaverse isn't that great and that they should consider purifying. The target can fight the effects of the magic with their willpower. Spei can use this three times per battle, the enlightenment lasting 10 seconds after impact. Summons:A large, cream-colored hare with golden eyes, about the size of a German Shepherd Dog. It emits a loud, piercing scream that saps all the hope out of any enemy target within earshot (up to 20ft around it) and makes them feel desperately hopeless for about 60 seconds (and if you've never heard a lapin scream, it's fairly blood-curdling). The hare's name is Mochi, from the Japanese myth of the Moon Hare pounding rice into mochi with its mortar and pestle.

Lacus Spei (Latin speī, "Lake of Hope") is a small lunar mare that is located in the northeastern part of the Moon's near side. To the north is the crater Mercurius and to the west-southwest lies Schumacher. The main part of the lake occupies a region averaging about 30 miles in diameter, with an extension leading to the northeast. The crater Zeno lies to the east-northeast, closer to this lunar limb. The WonderSpei's Wonder is a 30-mile diameter portion of the small lake on the Moon's surface called Lake of Hope, and by its name alone it should be clear the significance it held to the Moon Kingdom. The preternaturally calm, mirror-like surface of the lake evokes a sense of peace and optimism in all who view it, reflecting the starry sky above. It was a favorite meditation spot during the Silver Millennium, with people coming from all over the Moon Kingdom to gaze contemplatively into the waters at the lakeside and restore their feelings of hope. A small, two-story shrine-like structure made of white marble stands at the southwest tip of the lake, surrounded by overgrown gardens and encrusted in ivy and vines over its cracked walls; this is where those who tended the gardens and the lake worked in the distant past. It's big enough on the inside for one person to inhabit comfortably, with a greenhouse/solarium and rooms that could serve as living quarters. There is a quiet decay about the place, and yet a sense of waiting for something, hoping that it – or they – will come.
