It wasn't that Necaris didn't like space. She was obsessed with the Moon. It had given her cool powers. When she went outside at knight, she always made sure to look up at it and whisper a thank you. She liked her Wonder, too. There was stained glass, and science, and butterflies.

At least, like, pictures of butterflies. She hadn't seen any real butterflies yet, but maybe it'd get there!

That was the problem, though. She was pretty sure that for it to get there, she would have to actually go up and spend time there, and she had a really bad habit of getting distracted. There was so much drama going on right now. There were the two boys she was kissing. There was her ex. There were the husbands who she was kinda mediating for. There was whatever was going on with her brother.

She kept forgetting to actually go hang out up on Nectaris.

Maybe she just needed someone to go up with, she thought, finally. Someone outside of all of the drama.

Maybe it should be someone who had taken her up to his wonder a long time ago. It might be time to return the favor.

Spei, she had written, in Almadel's sparkly golden ink, on his glittering paper, Wanna go to space? I'll be around the park tonight, or you can write me back if some other time works better.

Then she sent it off, with a press of her butterfly ring into the paper.

Spei was never one to turn down an invitation from a friend, especially not a fellow Moon Knight. So when he received the glittery message from Nectaris, he ceased his patrolling and made his way over the rooftops to the park. Seemed like all kinds of things started at the park – his romance with Holland (who turned out to be a Senshi, Gault) really took off there, for one. He was on his own tonight, though, as Holland had some late-night studying to do. So adventures in the park it was.

It didn't take him long to get to the park, and once he got there, it didn't take him long to find Nectaris; her aura was strong, that of a Knight, and her pink outfit stood out markedly amongst the trees and snow. The Moon Squire leapt down into the park near her, landing gracefully and sweeping a bow to her.

"Nectaris," he greeted with a small smile. "Fancy meeting you here. I got your invitation – you want to go to the Moon tonight?"

She took a few minutes to just hang out in the park, hanging upside down by her knees on some tree branches and then spinning in circles with her skirts and cape flaring out behind her, while she waited to see if he was gonna come, or write her back. It didn't take long before she felt the aura, and then there he was!

She giggled at his little bow, but then she bowed back, because she knew that she had to go with the vibes.

"I forgot that you're, like, all charming," she told him. "And you upgraded? That's so cool. I guess it has been a while, huh?"

It would probably be weirder if he was still a Page. Still, she took a couple of seconds to admire his crisp looking suit.

"But, yeah! I wanted to go to the Moon." She held out a hand to him. "I know I owe you a trip to my Wonder. Just don't expect it to be, like," she puffed out her cheeks, "Too fancy? I haven't gotten to clean it up as much as I probably should."

"Yeah, it's been awhile," Spei nodded in agreement. "Thank you for thinking I'm charming. That's a very high compliment." Tilting his head, he ran his hand over his tailcoat. "Yeah, I'm a Squire now. Pretty amazing."

A trip to the Moon sounded like the perfect thing for a quiet evening. He hadn't visited his own Wonder in a week or so – he'd been so preoccupied with Holland and their blossoming romance. It had actually been a relief that his boyfriend turned out to be a Senshi.

"My Wonder isn't exactly fancy either, remember? Though I have cleaned up the place more, added some more plants… I think the inside is about done, so I'm working on the gardens outside. It's coming together," he shrugged. "Slowly but surely. I'll have it back to itself in no time."

He reached out and took Nectaris's offered hand. "Ready when you are…"

Nectaris squeezed his hand, muttered her oath, and then everything around them shifted.

They were definitely on the Moon. The view of Earth up in the starry sky was the easiest way to tell that. There were three buildings a little bit away, though, and for people who had been around the Moon, the architecture had the same vibe. Two of the buildings were entirely made of stained glass, which meant they looked extra delicate and filigree.

They were also pretty visibly busted up, with big parts of the glass shattered. She'd warned him.

"It's cool that you've been able to clean up and stuff. I've just had a lot happen. Like, with magic stuff, and with work. I think I've only been up her like, two, three times since I purified?"

It was nice to have a second and to get to be up here now, though.

"But, look! The grass is coming back, kinda!" It was only green in patchy places, but before it hadn't been green at all, just brown and gross and dead, or not there at all, as far as she could see.

She gasped, looking down at her feet. "Woah! A flower!" It was little and white and a lot like a daisy, and one second later she was down on her knees to get a better look at it.

Then she was satisfied and looking back up to Spei. "What about you, though? What have you been up to?"

Spei looked around at Nectaris's Wonder. "It's beautiful. Sometimes life happens and you can't do the things you should be doing. I understand that." Between Holland and his DJ career and at first trying to hide he was a Knight from his new boyfriend, he'd hardly had time to power up, let alone visit his own Wonder. But that would be changing, hopefully soon.

He sat down in the patch of grass they were on and looked at the little flower. "It's a lovely little flower," he nodded. "That's a really good sign, I think – it shows you still have that connection here." He wondered if it was time to start working on the gardens outside his Wonder.

"I've been… busy. I have a partner now, a boy named Holland." Spei blushed a little as he spoke, thinking of the past month or so. "He… I… He's my first boyfriend. A really wonderful guy. I've been busy with work too, actually. Things are picking up for me both professionally and personally. It's kind of exciting, but doesn't leave a lot of time for… you know, this."

Glancing over at the buildings, he smiled at Nectaris. "Shall we go see what we can do here?"

"Wait, you have a boyfriend?"

See, this was interesting! It was even more interesting than a new flower showing up, so Nikki rocked forwards on her heels until she was looking over at Spei again. "That's so cute!" She loved a good love story. "What's he like? Is he cool? Is he nice to you?"

With the way he was getting all blushy, Nectaris was pretty sure that she didn't have to worry, but she just had to check. People had to be nice to her friends or they were gonna have problems. With her. She was gonna be the problem.

"I get it, though. Boys can take up a lot of time."

She puffed out her cheeks, and for a second wondered if she should bring up her love life. The hesitation didn't last, though. They were here, they were talking about stuff. Of course she wasn't gonna, like, hold back just 'cause it might be something kinda taboo.

"Both of the guys I'm with are in the Negaverse though, which, like, yeah. It's a whole thing. It does mean I kinda have to power up if I wanna see them though."

Not that she even ended up seeing them all that much, but, whatever. She wasn't thinking about that. She was thinking about space, and friendship!

"Also, yeah, we can go! You wanna see the greenhouse first?"

Spei blushed again. "Yeah, he's… really very nice to me, very sweet, very cool. And very, very cute." He could feel the blush intensifying and tried to hide it by flipping his shaggy blue fringe over his face. "I haven't taken him to my Wonder yet, but it'll happen. He's a Senshi, so maybe someday I'll get to see his world."

He raised an eyebrow at Nectaris's mention of her boyfriends. Negaverse? She had been Negaverse herself not so long ago, a General if he recalled correctly. Wasn't that taking a tremendous risk? "I, uh, completely understand if you don't want to talk about it, but…" He sighed. "Yeah, boys can take up a lot of time."

Then her mood brightened, and so did Spei's. "I would love to see the greenhouse," he said with a small smile. "My greenhouse-sunroom place is my favorite spot at my Wonder. I love a good greenhouse."

Getting to his feet again, he held out a hand to help Nectaris to hers. "I can't wait."

She smiled when he started gushing about how sweet and nice and cute his boyfriend was. The smile went a little bit sideways, as the thought floated across her mind that sometimes she wished that she could have a cute relationship like that, where it was more just getting to talk about how amazing her partners were and less worrying about them, or not seeing them for months, or all of the rest of the stuff that came along with her current situation.

She pushe the thought aside, though. She could still be happy for him. H was sweet. He deserved something like that.

"I'm glad you found someone as cool as that," she told him. "It's awesome. You can bring him around sometime, if you want."

As she took his hand and stood up, she added, "And I don't mind talking about it. It's a situation, but it's not a secret, and you're not gonna judge me, right?"

She looked at him through the corner of her eyes. She hoped he wasn't gonna judge her. He seemed cool.

If he was, though, maybe she could get his mind off of it with ancient things?

"Yeah, so this is the greenhouse," she told him as she got closer. "There's another one back there, but this one's a little bit bigger." It was all made of stained glass in pastel pinks and other shades that matched the colors of their outfits. Most of the designs were abstract, but there were some butterflies visible.

That was, in the parts where the glass wasn't broken.

"It gets kinda pointy around here," she said, pausing in front of the door. "Watch your feet."

Blushing yet again, Spei smiled – a real, genuine smile, not one of his little half-smiles. He was glad he told Nectaris about Holland; he wanted to sing it to the universe, actually. Of course, the best he could do was write music about and for his relationship, but that was plenty good enough, knowing the effect his music could have on his boyfriend.

"No judgment from me," he nodded. "Whatever makes you happy is good as far as I'm concerned." Even if the situation sounded a bit difficult, he felt certain Nectaris could make it work somehow. She seemed scary competent.

As they approached the greenhouse, Spei marvelled at the delicate architecture of the building. The sheer artistry that would have gone into designing such an amazing structure was astonishing to him, and he had to wonder about the ancient Moon Kingdom and how they would have done it. Almost certainly magic had been involved; he understood that much about the Silver Millenium. The colors that matched their outfits were just as delicate as the design; he could appreciate the beauty of it, even though sections of the stained glass were broken.

The Moon Squire pointed at his boots. "I think I'll be okay. Still, I'll be careful."

The crunching of the shattered glass underfoot as they entered the greenhouse was mildly distressing; stepping on such ancient beauty seemed almost sacrilegious. "This place is beautiful," he said, voice soft and low as he looked around. "Are you going to use it as a greenhouse once it's repaired?"

The door was one of the broken pieces. It was off the hinges and propped up against the wall a few feet away. After turning back for a second to make sure that Spei was being careful about the glass situation, Nectaris ducked inside.

"Looking at, like, context clues," she said, "I think this place used to be for butterflies."

Even if you ignored Nectaris's cape, and her staff, and the pictures that were in the glass and a few other places around the wonder, it had the same vibe as butterfly gardens on Earth. It was pretty empty right now, but if you looked the floor closely, you could see the lines of paths, and the borders of flowerbeds.

There were benches around that were actually in okay shape, and a few statues and metal sculptures in that soft, Moon-y style. A lot of those were also butterflies.

"So, like, it'd be cool if I could get those back again. I know sometimes bugs start showing up if you hang out in space a lot. Although, hopefully the flowers would start doing better first so they have something to eat."

Encke had told her all about it. It sounded great in theory. It just meant she'd have to get it together and actually come visit.

"Also if there's anything I need to keep inside, I might have to do something about, y'know, that."

She glanced up at a particularly massive hole in the ceiling.

Spei looked around at the prevailing butterfly motif of the glass and raised an eyebrow. "Ohhhhh… Yes, of course it would have been used for butterflies. I'm clearly very observant," he quipped, poking fun at himself. He kept close to Nectaris as they walked through the ruined structure, though the only danger would have been falling glass. "It's still beautiful."

Testing the structural integrity of one of the benches, he brushed bits of glass off of it with one of the tails of his coat and sat, looking around the place. "I've found that the more you come to visit, things start to heal themselves. Like some of the cracks in the walls of my Wonder have begun to close up. Which is weird to me, but you know, Moon magic," and he made a little handwave gesture. Not dismissive, more magic woo. It was something he still had trouble with sometimes, accepting that magic happened.

"Also, plants do seem to come back first. My own solarium is doing great – the plants in there seem to be waking up," Spei added. "I haven't seen any bugs yet, but then I've been… a little busy and haven't made it up to my Wonder in a while." Which reminded him that he should start seeing to the gardens outside the building, now that the inside was tidied up and looking good.

He patted the seat, indicating that Nectaris should sit too. "If you want any help getting the plants in here back again, let me know. I'd be happy to help."

"My brother spends a lot of time on restoring space stuff," said Livie as she climbed up on on the bench next to him and squatted down, tiptoes on the seat, less because that was how she usually sat and more because no matter how much he'd brushed it off, she still didn't wanna end up sitting on glass. "He's a senshi, he's got a lot of magic stuff going on. Plants, these glowing animals, it's pretty coo. I know he also taught himself how to mix up concrete and stuff so that he could fix some of the stuff."

Which, as far as she could tell, making concrete didn't seem that scary. There was a powder, and you put water in it.

Glass, like, fancy glass, seemed way more complicated. Maybe Spei was right and she should just cross her fingers and hope the moon magic kicked in.

"But, there's also the obvious thing to do that's just cleaning up, right? I mean if I do manage to get stuff growing back in I don't want it growing over glass.

That would just make this place into a minefield.

"Yeah, it sounds to me like cleaning up should take first priority," Spei nodded, watching Nectaris perch on her toes on the bench. "Next time you come up here, bring a broom and stuff for sweeping up all the broken glass. That's what I did at my Wonder. I brought up some plants too, to kind of encourage the plants in the solarium, and that actually worked, to my surprise. That and music," he smiled wryly. He'd actually made a mix for his Wonder, ethereal downtempo trance and chillwave music with hopeful lyrics.

"But it sounds to me like you have a potentially reliable resource for helping restore this place, in your brother. If he's got animals, he knows what he's doing and how to get life happening again. I mean, I'm still more than happy to help you. I'll bring the music and my cleaning supplies."

He looked around at the glass-littered ground, then up at the ruined stained-glass roof. It was going to take a lot of work, and numerous visits to her Wonder here, but Spei felt hopeful that Nectaris would be willing to put in the effort to restore the place.

"Yeah, a broom," Nectaris agreed, 'cause picking up all this glass with her bare hands would be a disaster. "And, like, trash bags. Gloves. Stuff like that."

Which meant she was gonna have to wait before cleaning up this place, again, even though she'd managed to actually remembered to come up here this time, and to bring a friend. She gave a huff at her own forgetfulness.

Then she tried to smile for Spei's sake and not get all caught up on her ADHD making her feel dumb, like she did sometimes.

"I can probably find a portable speaker in the house if I try hard enough," she said, "And you can bring whatever music stuff? For next time? I guess we can go back for right now, there's not a lot to do," And if there was more to the tour she could have given, that didn't seem to have her interest for the moment, either, "But when we come back we can make a whole party out of it!"
