It took Yukio hours to decide what he was going to wear tonight. None of his usual outfits were quite right – and he had a lot of them. An outfit for every occasion… except going out on a date. Literal years had passed since he'd been on a date, and he was a very different person now. The girl he'd dated before (the one who'd torn his heart out and stomped on it a few times) was a distant memory, a cautionary tale in his mind. Abbey wasn't like that; she was cute with her mismatched eyes, fun and flirty and a good friend as well as someone he was developing something of a crush on. He hadn't technically wanted to crush on her, fearing it might ruin their relationship, but he couldn't help himself. Hence the date.

After quite a bit of thought, he finally decided on his black leather pants and one of his favorite sweaters, a slate-grey stripey Icelandic wool one, since it was still technically winter. Mismatched sneakers, a long grey knit scarf and a grey knit hat with a pompom completed the look. He nodded at his reflection in the mirror – nothing too fancy, but he still looked nice – then he retrieved his phone from his backpack and summoned an Uber.

"Thanks, please wait here," Yukio told the Uber driver as he got out at Abbey's house. Walking up to the porch, he rang the bell and waited. His heart was pounding a little bit in anticipation of seeing her again, and he gave a deep sigh to calm himself down. Stupid heart, getting all worked up over a simple date with a friend and working partner. The bouquet of flowers he'd gotten for her were hidden behind his back, a riot of blossoms and colors. Hopefully it would be a nice start to the evening.
