Well, like more than worried but he was trying not to really let it show all that much, the pacing probably didn't help and while he was sure he should stop….How does one stop worrying when their boyfriend just…Turns into a ghost and leaves no memo or anything? Was it him? Holland frowned and stopped for a second, looking at his feet. It… It very well could be? OH GOD! The pacing began again while he went through all the fifty million scenarios in his head as to why Yuki would disappear for a week. He did like…just leave his clothes over there, was constantly around, he was clingy and and and and….Oh no…
HE WAS THE PROBLEM!!!
Daisy often told him about boundaries and whatnot, hell THEO was a person he practices the boundaries thing with. He should've asked! Why didn't he ASK?! With the amount of pacing he was doing he was going to burn a trail. He had already texted Yuki probably half a million times, with the last one asking when he was coming home and he was sorry if he did anything wrong. He told him how he cleaned the apartment, did laundry, and was trying to get better at cooking…He even decided not to go out on patrol right now considering he was a magnet for trouble. M-Maybe it was all too much?! “Damn it Holland! Boundaries! You know these! Ughhhhh!” he stared at his phone, lip wibbling. Maybe it wasn't too late to say nevermind? He could go to his parents house, give Yuki space and try again later?
God he was a wreck……..It's been a WEEK!
------
When Spei returned from his time on his Wonder getting everything sorted (including putting up a hidden door over the room his Code piece was in that was only unlockable with his signet ring), he was exhausted. It was good to have done what he'd had to, but really good to be home. He leapt to the balcony of his condo and looked in… only to see Holland pacing back and forth in the living room, looking panicky and… grief-stricken? What had happened?
Opening the sliding door to the condo, he stepped in, not paying attention to the fact he was still powered up – as a newly-made Knight. His cape swirled around him as he strode over to his boyfriend, his lover… apparently also from a past life.
"Hol?" he said gently, hoping he didn't further agitate the small man. "Are you okay?"
-----
“H-Huh?!” Holland blinked once, then twice…”Y-Yuki I'm so sorry!!!!” He tried not to cry, but the crocodile tears already started before he could stop them in time. “I-I dint meant o invade your space! I should’ve asked!” He hiccupped, rubbing at his eyes while he continued, “I-I cleaned! U-Uummmm I did the laundry too. I-I can go see my p-parents if you need the space! I didn't mean to be so clingyyyyyy!” He looked up at the ceiling, not even noticing that Yuki was currently powered up…In his own home.
----
Spei wrapped his arms around Holland and pulled him close, enveloping him in his flowing cloak. "Holland…" he murmured into his boyfriend's hair. "I'm sorry, it was kind of an emergency situation… I couldn't get to my Wonder, no matter how hard I tried, then my shield started acting weird, then the Code called us – me – to the Moon…"
He lightly rubbed Holland's back, finally realizing as he felt a strange fabric under his gloved hand that he was still powered up. Letting the Knight form drop from him, Yukio held Hol tightly and rocked back and forth. It was then that his phone, shoved into the back pocket of his pants, vibrated. Puzzled, he reached for it and looked at the screen – only to see what looked like a dozen or so text messages from Holland. Oh s**t.
"Hol Hol Hol," he crooned softly. "I'm so so sorry I scared you. You're not going anywhere, okay? You're staying right here, with me. Always always always. You don't have to go back to your parents' place, you don't have to go anywhere. I want you here with me. I need you here with me."
----
The code?
That was something with the knights right?
Holland wasn't really able to dedicate the brain power to even remember what all that stuff was, burying his face into the fabric of Yuki’s shirt, hiccupping, sniffling, and probably should be embarrassed about his nose running at this point. What Yuki said towards the end finally hit him and he calmed a little, looking up with puffy green eyes. “Y-You do?” He wasn't being clingy? Too needy? Then why didn't he…Answer? “B-But I sent you texts and stuff and there was no reply and…” He started to ramble, fisting his hands in Yuki’s shirt then, “I-I'm sorry!” he whimpered, burying his face right back into his chest again.
----
"I was powered up, Hol, I couldn't get to my phone." Yukio once more buried his face in Holland's curly hair, holding him close. "I should have sent something to you on your whatchacallit, Senshi phone. I'm pretty sure I can do that from my ring," he sighed. "I'm sorry, I'm a bad boyfriend."
Pulling back slightly, he slid his hands around to cup Holland's face in them and raised his boyfriend's chin up, meeting his teal eyes, red and wet from weeping. "Remember that I love you, Hol. I… apparently always have, and I always will if I have anything to say about it." He kissed Hol's forehead and gave him more of a smile than he typically reserved for anything or anyone else. "Okay?"
-----
Oh….That should've been the first thing he thought of.
Holland shook his head, “N-No! You're not a bad boyfriend at all!” Teal eyes locked onto amber and a blush appeared across his face. “I-I love you too. I'm sorry…. I freaked out before thinking.” He sniffled and shifted his gaze down in shame, wrapping his arms around Yuki’s waist. “J-Just promise me if something comes up you’ll tell me from now on okay?”
-----
Yukio nodded. "Okay, I promise." Kissing the top of Holland's head, he shifted position and steered the smaller man toward the couch, where he sat down and encouraged Hol to do the same. "Are you feeling any better now? I'm really sorry you got freaked out. I promise that'll never happen again, if I have any control over the situation."
With an exhausted sigh, Yukio closed his eyes and leaned back into the cushions, pushing his blue hair out of his eyes with one hand. "I don't know if I could have found the time to message you, though, considering what was going on… Some really weird stuff was happening, and the Code – the energy being that kind of powers all Knights – had to get involved." He gave a short, soft snorted laugh. "Would you like to hear about what I've been up to?"
----
Holland nodded slowly, happily allowing for Yuki to sit him down on the couch, automatically cuddling closer, laying his head on his lap. “W-What happened?”
------
"So about a week ago I tried to get to my Wonder on the Moon," Yukio said, draping an arm across Holland's shoulders. "And there was something blocking me. I tried and tried a number of times, but I couldn't get through it. And every time I powered up and summoned my shield, something was wrong with it. Like it would appear and instantly shatter in my hand. One time I powered up and it melted. Just… melted. It was so weird. I couldn't figure out what was going on. It was very concerning, as you can imagine."
He sighed again and continued. "So after about a week of this, we – like all the Knights – got a message from the Code and were pulled to the Moon. You probably felt something funny a week or so ago, right? Something weird when you powered up? So that was what was affecting us Knights, only it really hit us hard. Long story short, the Code was able to help us get to our Wonders and heal our personal Code pieces… which I did. But it also did a couple other things…" He trailed off, haunted by the memory flash he'd experienced.
-----
“I….I haven't powered up lately. I ummmmn…I had finals and every time I go out, I always end up in trouble or some one wants to beat me up for some odd reason.” He looked down at his fingers with a sigh. All those self defense classes and sometimes it still didn't do s**t when it came to winning. “How did the code heal your pieces? What else did it do?” He sat up a little, curious.
-----
"No, the Code didn't heal our Code pieces…. We as individual Knights did. So I had to sync with my Code piece, renew the bond I had with it. I was successful, but it did a couple of things to me. Not bad things, at least I'm pretty sure they're not bad," Yukio reassured, maintaining physical contact with Holland. "It gave a pretty big burst of power and… well, I'm a Knight now. Like a step up from Squire. The Code finally gave me a hat," and a wry chuckle escaped from him. "Pretty nice hat too. I'll have to show you when we go out next time."
Yukio studied his boyfriend's face. "Another thing that happened was I got what I can only call a memory flashback," he continued softly. "From a past life. I don't remember much about it, but I was a civilian, and there was a huge horrible battle going on, and…. And you were there, as Gault, in a different body though. And we made a vow… that no matter what happened, we'd find each other again in a future lifetime." He looked into Holland's teal eyes, a lost and pleading expression on his face. "Have… have you had anything like that happen to you?"
-----
O-Ohhhh…..So he had an upgrade?! Same as him!
Nice!
It was the latter bit that really caught his attention. “You had a memory from your past life? With me in it?” He frowned, trying to think about any experience that he would have had… “I….I thought it was a nightmare. I was me, but I wasn't me at the same time. I was bigger, hahaa, bigger than my dad.” His hands looked bigger while the memory came back to him, “I remember being worried and scared, but not like I was earlier…It was like I was about to lose someone and there wasn't anything I could do about it.” He blinked, “Then my arms were around someone that felt familiar, someone that I would die for. I know I whispered something to them but it's a bit fuzzy right now.” He looked up at Yuki then, “I think…No I KNOW it was you. I always feel safe and warm around you, like as long as you're around, nothing can happen to me. A-And when you're away…” He blushed and looked away then, “It’s like there’s this pain deep in my chest and I get…L-Like how I was earlier. Felt like you would be gone forever a-and that I failed again.”
-----
Blinking, Yukio felt tears begin to form in his eyes. He never cried – he was the king of the flat affect, the deadpan expression. But what Hol had said… he felt it in his heart that what he'd experienced when he was healing and syncing with his Code piece was real and true. A vision of the past.
He slowly rubbed his eyes. "Looks like we were able to keep that vow we made, doesn't it?" he said quietly, voice thick with emotion. "Hello again."
----
Holland sat up, maneuvering himself onto Yuki’s lap, bringing his forehead to his. His eyes were already watering, “Hello, Starshine…I've missed you, so ******** much.” he moved to burry his head into his boyfriend’s neck, feeling like his very soul was singing. He really was with his soulmate. It took a millennia, but it was well worth it, even if he wasn't the big forest bear he used to be.
----
Starshine…. Something about that nickname resonated deep inside Yukio. He knew it was only because of the strange energy burst from his Code piece that he had any memory recall at all of his past in the Silver Millennium; he didn't have dreams of it, or if he did he didn't recognize them as such. But this… was as real as it got. Wrapping his arms around Holland, he felt the sensation of tears running down his face, but he didn't care. He just held on as tightly as he could, face nestled against Holland's neck, and let them flow.
