…Losers, weepers.

Yukio walked in silence through the Star Festival stalls set up around downtown, ostensibly looking at the food and wares being offered for sale. He wasn't really paying attention, though, as his mind was elsewhere, on something other than the offerings of the festival. A loser was what he felt like; it had been forever since he'd seen Abbey, and while they'd both been extremely busy, he still felt like somehow it was his fault they hadn't gotten together. Like somehow he hadn't been good enough for her. He knew it was irrational of him to feel that way, but there it was, like some form of PTSD from the girl who broke his heart at DCU all those years ago. Stupid.

He thought about Abbey again. She was so vibrant and personable, such a good dancer and she liked the music he made, which warmed his heart a little. Still, he hadn't shared that dance tune he'd put together for her, about her, for whatever reason; maybe he wanted to play it for her in person or something, he didn't know why himself. He hadn't even made a video of the process of pulling it together to post on Youtube; it existed nowhere but on his computer. And in his heart.

Had he actually gone and fallen in love with Abbey? His brows knit together as he thought about it. He wasn't sure, which was telling. Certainly he'd fallen for her in some regard, as a "business partner" and Youtuber and as a friend, but love? He honestly couldn't say. It was a problem of his, and he knew it, that he fell in love far too quickly and with the entirely wrong people – the incident with the girl who dumped him in his freshman year at college proved that. But Abbey wasn't like that girl at all. He felt safe in thinking that if there was a problem, she'd say something. And that her lack of direct communication wasn't personal but business-related; she was busy with her influencer aspirations, and he was busy with his DJ work. Which, when he thought about it, was a good thing for both of them – it meant they were both doing well at their respective gigs. And of course they both had their powered lives on the side, which ate up even more time that could be spent hanging out together.

It still hurt, though.

With a heavy sigh, Yukio let his eyes wander to the ground, no longer pretending to have any interest in the items for sale at the festival. A glint in the grass alongside the pavement caught his eye then, something shiny and sparkling in the summer sunlight. He stopped and bent down to retrieve whatever it was, mostly out of curiosity. Holding it up between his finger and thumb, he realized it was one of this year's Star Charms, though in a color he'd never seen before: it looked like an opalescent rainbow as it turned in his fingers. Maybe it was new for this year; it didn't look like a faded version of one of the other colors. Pretty.

Like Abbey.

He pocketed the charm, determining in his mind to reach out to her, maybe get together for some tea or dancing or something. He'd give her the music he'd made, and the charm too.
