He’s always ran on the hotter side when it came to body temperature [How Yuki is able to sleep comfortably with him not only sprawling out on the bed but basically acting like a furnace really amazes him], and right now he was overheating and really needed to cool off. What better way to do this than to power up and run around in the cold for a bit? Carefully sitting up so that he would not wake his partner, Holland decided to borrow one of Yuki’s shirts to combine it with his pants and silently opened the door to the balcony in the bedroom, closing it just as softly as he opened it.
Now the wisest thing would be to just chill out on the balcony, but he had some energy to burn so why not go patrolling for a bit? He quickly powered up and leaped from balcony to balcony so he could be on the roof. His destination would have to be the beach or the lake in the forest. Gault took off, thinking the lake would be more isolated and he could do all the backflips and cartwheels. Then once his energy was depleted and he was sufficiently cooler, he could return and go back to sleep.
—
Yukio wasn't necessarily a light sleeper, but neither was he one of those who just zonked out and couldn't be awakened for anything. Something stirred him awake – maybe it was Holland shifting in his sleep, maybe it was the light of the moon shining through the glass wall of his bedroom. The moon… He hadn't powered up for several days, had he? He'd been too busy with regular civilian things like meeting Hol's bestie and getting chased by rabid fangirls and… well, other things. Smiling to himself at that last, he rolled onto his back and reached out to his partner, then thought better of it – if Hol was asleep, best to let him sleep. Poor guy was so restless.
Sliding out of bed cautiously so he wouldn't disturb Holland, Yukio padded into the living room, summoned his shield, and became Spei. He sighed; this felt right, all of it. Holland, being Spei, just about everything in his life. Maybe he'd visit his Wonder later, start tending to the outside of the small shrine by the lake now that the interior was mostly sorted. For now, though, he'd go on a quick patrol, maybe down by the lake in the woods that reminded him so much of his Wonder. The Moon Squire leapt off the edge of the balcony to the next building over, landing in a parkour roll before standing upright again. It had been awhile since he last practiced his parkour too; maybe he could practice parkouring off trees and things, so he'd have an easier time of it in the city's parks.
Spei jumped onto the roof of the next building over and headed in the direction of the forest on the edge of Destiny City. This would be a nice way to get out and get some fresh air.
----
The moment Gault made it to the lake, he instantly started cartwheeling.
One day he wanted to be able to be like spider man, climbing walls and shooting webs, all like pew pew and stuff. But alas right now he was just Gault and that was all he needed to be right now. The smaller senshi did a couple of backflips and some somersaults, flopping down on the grass with his arms spread wide, looking up at the moon while trying to catch his breath. He didn't know why he always went to the park to let loose, this was much more isolated and he didn't have to worry about any crazy chaos agents trying to shoot or stab him.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, slowly working on calming his body.
---
It didn't take long for Spei to make it to the lake; free-running really made the trip fun. Almost as soon as he was there, though, he felt an aura, an Order aura thankfully, as he wasn't really in the mood for a battle. He leapt up and rappelled off the trunk of a big evergreen, flying several yards in the air before landing in a crouch on the edge of the woods. The aura felt increasingly closer, and before too long he saw a Senshi doing somersaults and backflips on the edge of the lake. Interesting! Did this one know parkour as well?
The Senshi flopped onto the grass at the lakeside, and Spei took this as his cue to make his appearance known. Leaping into the air, he did a trio of backflips to land on his feet next to the reclining Senshi. "Greetings, friend Senshi," he said, sketching a bow. "I am Spei, Squire of the Moon. What brings you out here tonight?"
—
Gault would've been startled if he did not feel the order signature as the person got closer. His eyes looked over towards the squire, getting up with a giggle and a bow of his own. “I am Gault, senshi of onions friend knight~” He’s never really seen a knight before so this was pretty cool! He eyed the other person with interest, taking in his appearance. They looked like a royal knight of sorts which was equally fascinating. “What exactly does a knight do? Ive never met one of you before~” He was instantly walking up to Spei with his head tilted, poking at the shield and laughing at his warped reflection.
“Will this get bigger? Like a shield from the movie 300? Oh Oh! Will you be able to bash people with it?” That sounded so cool, unlike his powers where all he did was make people cry and the area became stinky. “Do you have a phone like senshi do? I’m always down for making new order friends!” It's the one thing that would probably keep him from losing his starseed like he almost did that one time with the corrupt that had a bird’s nest full of hair.
-----
The enthusiasm and energy of the small Senshi made Spei laugh softly, like a low chuckle. Gault was no chibi, though he was barely taller than some. "Whoa, hang on, one question at a time!" he said, holding up a hand. "First of all, Knights do the same thing Senshi do, we just do it differently. We don't have worlds to call our own, we have Wonders, important sites on worlds. Mine happens to be on the Moon. My shield won't get bigger, I don't think – I'm only a Squire, not a Knight, so I don't know what will happen if or when I become one. Yeah, I could bash people with it if I wanted to, though I really prefer they don't get close enough to me to have to do that. I don't have a phone, I have a signet ring that I think kind of serves the same purpose. And I'm always down for making Order friends too!"
Holding out his free hand, he showed Gault his signet ring, worn on his right ring finger. "I think I should be able to add you to my contact info on this, but I'm not sure how… I should be able to send you a message, though."
—
Oh wow!!!!
Gault immediately took out his phone with glee, tapping it to the ring. Maybe that's how it worked? When the contact information showed on his phone he was so amazed. “Wow! Mauvian tech really is super cool!” He looked to the knight as if he was considering something. Should he? This was a complete and total stranger after all, what if he works for chaos? Then again chaos had a different feel to it and this knight felt nice and comforting if anything. Finally coming to the conclusion that there would be no harm done, Gault stepped back a bit and dehenshined. He was a bit embarrassed just because he left in Yuki’s shirt but it's not like this knight would know who that is. “My actual name is Holland~ I figured it would be fine to reveal that since we’re on the same side and all.”
He gave the knight a big grin, flopping back down onto the grass.
“You don't have to tell me who you are if you don't want to. It's nice to finally have a friend though. For some odd reason, I attract the crazy women/females of chaos. I have a couple of scars to prove it sadly.”
----
Spei was delighted that the contact info was swapped. Just as easily as that! He went to look at his ring in wonderment – but he suddenly felt the aura dissipate away. Looking up, he watched Gault change, dehenshin into…
"H- Holland?"
It was a very risky thing to drop one's powered identity in front of someone else, very risky indeed. Spei cast around immediately for the presence of Chaos auras, but found none. He then stared at Holland again. "You're… a Senshi? Hol, this is… wow, this is…" Collecting himself, he gave Holland a rather smug look. "I know about the scars, I've seen them," he said. Then he dismissed his shield and dropped back into his unpowered form…
…and gave the small man on the grass a wry smile. "Why do you have my shirt on?" he quipped.
—
Welp….Busted.
Holland’s teal eyes widened. “Wait how do you know my name?” He was about to sit up and rehenshin, “Y-Yes….I'm a senshi, I said this already…” Then he used a nickname that only one other person used. But really?! Was he THAT lucky?! He got his answer when Yukio was standing right where Spei was just seconds ago. “Y-Yuki?! You're a squire?!” He was so excited he almost forgot to answer the other question, twiddling his thumbs, “Wellllllllll I couldn't find my shirt and I didn't want to turn on the light….Plus your shirt was right thereeeee!” How could he not take it? “I wasn't about to go out shirtless, what if I ran into like a predator or something? I still look like a kid sadly.” He did a little twirl, “Plus it does a good job of hiding everything else~” He knew he looked like a female from the waist down and while he would usually flaunt that. He wasn't trying today.
Holland went back to laying on the grass, giving his boyfriend a smug little grin, “Unless you WANT everyone to see everything I got~” He was teasing of course but it was always fun to see Yuki deadpan when it came to certain things.
—
Yukio sat down on the grass next to his partner, wrapping his arms around his knees, and raised an eyebrow. "I wouldn't want that at all, Hol. Mine, remember?" Reaching out, he brushed Holland's pink fringe out of his eyes with a couple of fingers. "Just like I'm yours."
The powered-down Moon Squire shook his head and ran a hand through his long choppy blue hair. "I just can't believe this. It's too amazing. You're a Senshi, and I'm a Knight, both on the side of Order. Who would have thought it? It's just… At least you didn't turn out to be yet another ******** corrupt Senshi, that's good. Can't stand those guys." Or worse… he could have turned out to be some kind of Chaos agent, a Negaverse officer. That would have been a complete nightmare. What do you do when the one you love turns out to be against everything you fight for?
Fortunately, Yukio didn't have to worry about that. His Holland was a Senshi! Incredible. "So how long have you been a Senshi?" he asked, not sure if he'd get an answer.
—
Of course he knew that, it was just nice to tease every once in a while.
Holland sighed and closed his eyes at the feel of Yuki’s hand bruising his hair away. “Mmmmmnnnnnhmmnnnn… Always~” stretching with a small yawn, he gently pushed Yuki’s legs down and laid his head in his lap, turning to bury his face in his stomach. One Teal eye looked up, “Yeah……N-Not all of them are bad though.” he didn't think it would be wise to mention Chara at this point so he kept that to himself. Maybe they could meet one day? Knowing Chara and his mouth, probably not. “I’ve been a senshi for a year now, it’s so fun and nice to be able to just run around and just…be.” There were times when he thought about just not powering up anymore but that usually caused him so much anxiety that he figured something was needed before he could hang his mantel. “How long have you been a squire?”
----
"No, not all of them are bad," Yukio agreed, thinking to the corrupt Senshi who helped him with the giant cicadas at Star Festival this year; that guy was pretty okay, if complain-y. "Just most of the ones I've run into have been nothing but trouble. And I keep running into them. It's very aggravating. I've encountered only a handful of the agents, the officer types – for a while I didn't think they actually existed." But they did, and they had turned out to be even worse than the corrupt Senshi did. "Thank goodness I haven't run into any of them who are like generals…"
Yukio placed a hand on Holland's hair, stroking the brown curls gently. "I've been a Knight for about a year, too. I started out as a Page, I guess, then became a Squire. I don't know what comes next – Knight, I suppose. And after that… I've met a Royal Knight. Didn't know such a thing existed. He was very kind and helpful and supportive. And he didn't make me call him Sir or anything like that."
He thought for a moment about what Holland said, about being able to just run around and be as a Senshi, and he supposed he felt the same way about being a Knight. Sure, he had responsibilities to his Wonder and to the Code, but it was quite liberating to parkour around the city, fighting bad guys.
"We should probably head back soon," he said finally. "Before the sun comes up…"
—
Holland was very content to just lay here in the grass without a care in the world. Really as long as he had Yuki, living out of a treehouse would be paradise. He released a yawn, eyes closing while he kept his face pureed in Yuki’s stomach. He did mumble something akin to a no, wrapping his arms around him. Now that he wasn't powered up and he ran off his restlessness, his body was crashing pretty fast. Hell he didn't think he had the will to even move at this point. “....Sleeepy…….Dunwanna. Comfortable….” His boyfriend was literally a human pillow at this point.
----
Yukio looked down at his boyfriend with a sigh, a smile playing across his lips. "I'll get us home…"
Summoning his shield, he powered up with Holland's head still cradled in his lap. Spei dismissed the shield so it wouldn't get in the way, then carefully picked up the drowsy young man in his arms. Holland seemed even lighter thanks to the added strength Spei experienced when powered up. Slowly he drew his long legs beneath him and stood, looking to the slowly lightening horizon. Yeah, they had to get out of there before anyone came across them.
He quickly ducked into the woods, being extra careful with his precious cargo, and leapt to the roof of a low building to make his way back to his apartment over the rooftops.
