Spei collected the small orb – the Code Piece for his Wonder – in his hands from the larger Code Piece, feeling the warmth and power emanating from it… then they were gone from the Celestial Theater. In the blink of an eye, Spei, his little Code Piece, and the Moon's Code Piece found themselves on the shore of a lake, its surface calm and mirror-like. Reflected in the lake, and standing on the shore in front of them, was a small two-story, ornately-carved structure that looked like a shrine of some sort; it seemed to be made of some kind of white stone, maybe marble. The building was surrounded by an overgrown garden and was fairly encrusted with ivy and vines all along its cracked surface. Overall, though, despite the evident decay, there was a sense of peace, of hope and anticipation. Stepping up the short flight of stairs that led to the front entrance, Spei gently shouldered open the broken and battered door, still holding the smaller Code Piece, and poked his head inside. The center of the building was open to the ceiling, a dome with gaping holes in it; a handful of rooms lined the walls of the ground level, and stairs on either side of the door led up to similar rooms on the second floor. Toward the back of the main floor there looked to be a ruined greenhouse or solarium. Dust was everywhere, as were small chunks of shattered marble and ancient glass. "Is… this my Wonder?" Spei asked the Code, voice soft and reverent. "It's beautiful."

“And it will be more beautiful when you have time to dedicate to restore it,” the Code answered. Though it joined him now in a much smaller form, it seemed like it still had much to share with him. It didn’t radiate as much energy, and it had been clear that its ability to communicate while in this form would be limited, but for now it had time to answer all of his questions. “The Moon has been in great decline since the fall of the Silver Millennium. But, my hope is that you will be able to restore it. I am looking for others, too. To help revitalize the Moon. We’ll need a good defense if the Chaos on Earth continues to grow. We cannot allow it to spread elsewhere, or to take the Moon. But I have faith in you. Hope, for you.” This land had been untouched for so long and suffered so much already. There was so much to be done–not just here, but everywhere. “The more you practice, the more you hone your power, the greater strength you’ll be able to draw from this place. The greater strength this place will have. There is a magic here, timeless and immortal. You have the ability to save your world and restore this one.”

Restore it… Spei had no idea where to begin restoring this place. He could clean it up, perhaps, tame the garden outside and the greenhouse inside, that would be a good start. But maybe not today, not right at this moment. There was so much he needed to know, so many questions he had. "The Silver Millennium? What was that? I'm guessing some kind of civilization… What happened to it?" Spei sighed. So many questions, and each answer from the Code raised more. "I mean, I know the Earth is messed up, and not just Destiny City, but is it this Chaos that's causing it? What is the Chaos, and how can I – we – stop it? You said you're looking for more – more like me? I hope so, because I can't do this by myself." He listened as the Code told him he had the power to save Earth and the Moon. Magic… this whole experience felt like some kind of magic was going on. Thinking about it, he did feel different, but he didn't feel very powerful, not powerful enough to save the world and the Moon. And magic? He couldn't deny that this entire experience sure seemed magical somehow. But what kind of magic? "I swore I would help, and I will," he said, gazing down at the small Code Piece of his Wonder. He wasn't about to back down from a vow like that.

“The Silver Millennium was a time of great prosperity. The Moon used to be a thriving civilization. But, it was always tied to Earth. There was a war.” The Code was quiet for a long moment. “A war that no one won. But we outlasted the enemy for long enough to save Earth. Only, the war continues. There are other Knights on Earth. Senshi, who will fight with you against the Negaverse. They’re responsible for the Chaos that’s trying to spread. Only, in its time here, more have arrived. The Dark Mirror Court. They’re newer, though. I know less about them. I know only that if the Negaerse succeeds, it will swallow up Earth and destroy everything you know and care for. We can’t afford to lose. When you return, you’ll be back in Destiny City, you’ll be among allies–and enemies. You’ll know them immediately, if you’re paying attention. You’ll be able to feel them, like a buzzing on your peripheral. But as you sense them, they’ll sense you. You’ll find allies. And I’ll keep looking for more. The only way to stop the Chaos is to combat it. You can’t let it spread. Maybe you can coax them out of it. Maybe you’ll have to force it out of them. It’s not an easy task, I know. But I have hope for the future. Especially with you around.”

Spei listened attentively as the Code detailed what he would be up against. At least, to his relief, he wouldn't be alone; there were other Knights, and there were the Senshi. But the Negaverse sounded so powerful, Chaos so widespread… "No, it's not an easy task. But I can do my small part to help fight the Negaverse. I can rebuild my little piece of the Silver Millennium, here. And I can find others like me to help. Knights and Senshi." He looked down again at the small Code fragment, its light pulsing calmly in his hands. "I won't let you down." He smiled when the Code echoed what the little old lady had told him. That whole incident already seemed like a lifetime ago; so much had changed in such a short period of time. Now he wasn't rescuing some little old lady's purse – he was helping to save Earth, and by extension the Moon. So much more was at stake now. "I should probably put you somewhere safe," Spei murmured to the little Code fragment. He looked around the interior of his Wonder. "What about there?" He nodded toward a room directly above the ruined greenhouse/solarium at the far end of the courtyard. "Would that be a good spot?"

For now, the Code seemed almost relaxed. Less energetic than it had been when they’d first met, but no less invested in Spei’s questions. “A good spot,” the Code confirmed, “Protected from the elements and relatively out of sight, if you can. The Moon has something of a defense system but you can’t be too careful. If this power got into the wrong hands, they would use it for their own purpose. And worse, they might influence others, too.” A warning, only. It wasn’t supposed to scare him, just meant to give weight to the reality of the situation. “Don’t bring anyone here if you don’t trust them. Trust your instincts, Spei. You’ve got a good heart. Don’t let anyone corrupt it.”

"I won't. I promise." Spei crossed the floor to one of the staircases on either side of the entrance and carefully climbed up them, not wanting to accidentally damage the small Code Piece he held. An open hallway greeted him as he reached the top, curving around to the rear of the building; rooms lined the wall, and a protective railing ran along the open side. He wanted to explore the rooms, but there was time for that later, on another visit. His footsteps echoed through the courtyard as he made his way along the hallway to the room over the solarium. Reaching the room, he shouldered open what was left of the door and looked around. The room was round, with niches cut into the walls and a narrow window looking out over the ruined gardens below. This would be the perfect spot. He looked at the niches; most seemed to be occupied by what looked like flower pots, the plants that once filled them long dead. A few niches, though, were empty, and it was into one of these that he placed the Code fragment. It wasn't completely hidden, but it wasn't immediately obvious that it was here. "There," he nodded. "I hope this is a good spot for you."

The Code didn’t seem particularly picky, not when Spei seemed to have chosen a perfect spot. There were no social clues to pick up on from the Code but the air seemed to relax, like a warmth had spread through the Wonder. “This is an excellent spot. You’re already in tune with your Wonder. I couldn't ask for more.” Well, it could. And, it might, one day. But for now, this was enough. “You should come back and visit again. I’d like for you to spend as much time here as you can. I want to see things come back together. But, whatever happens, work hard. You will be rewarded. The more you put into this, the more you’ll get out of it. Thank you, Spei.” It glowed, just slightly, as the magic continued to settle across the area. “You give me hope, too. Even in the darkest of times, don't ever forget that.”
