After her scuffles with that Negaverse Lieutenant and with Murikabushi, the Senshi of the Dark Mirror, Daphne was beginning to get a better idea of how Chaos on Earth manifested itself.

They'd given her some explanations, some attempted justifications, some first hand stories of how Chaos worked. So, she knew some of what was going on from Chaos's perspective.

She didn't trust their words. It wasn't anything against them. She just knew the kinds of things that Chaos could whisper into people's ears. It had happened on her own world. She had no doubt it was happening here, which meant she needed an outside perspective.

There was Adria, but he'd been busy, and anyway, she needed more than one friend and ally, or at the very least more than one contact, if she was going to do anything about all this Chaos.

So, when she went out seeking answers and she finally felt a bright aura on the horizon instead of an awful dark and slippery one, she sprinted at it, full speed down the sidewalk, not wanting the person to get away before she got a chance to meet them.

Not too far away, Spei was once more out practicing his parkour in relative solitude. He was not only getting more of a feel for the moves he'd learned so far at the gym, he was refining his body and spatial awareness. With a single muscle twitch or the slightest shift in his balance, he could put himself precisely where he wanted to be almost every time. This was a lot better than dancing the night away, even though he still did that on occasion; he hadn't slacked up on DJ gigs either, which had been one of his fears when this all had first happened to him. It just was no longer his sole focus.

Tonight he was concentrating on balance. He'd managed to hold a handstand perfectly still on the edge of a rooftop for a solid two minutes; now he allowed himself to fall the three stories to the pavement, rotating his body so that he landed on his feet and leapt into a flying roll. Immediately after executing the roll, the sensation of an aura touched his mind. He froze, ready to bound away, until he realized it was the aura of someone on the side of Order.

And they were approaching fast.

Standing, Spei decided to wait for whomever it was to find him, because if he could feel them, they certainly could feel him. They'd be here before he could find them anyway.

It was a learning curve, trying to figure out what was Earth fashion and what was otherworldly enough to mark someone as an ambassador Senshi or Knight. In Daphne's opinion, everyone on Earth should be wearing puffy coats and fur lined boots, which she'd been feeling the need to wear until the seasons shifted all the way to summer. People with magic to protect them from the weather could wear the lighter clothes. That would make it easier for Daphne to tell them apart, anyway.

As it was, she wasn't quite sure if she should break out of her sprint when she saw the man in pink and blue rolling around on the ground. She did stop, because there was nobody else around, but it took her a moment of really focusing in on auras to be sure.

She hadn't seen Malcolm wear a pastel suit out on the street, but from what she'd seen on the Internet, it wasn't out of the realm of possibility for others to do so. Luckily, the aura did seem to be coming from this man, so after a second, Daphne waved. Behind her, her tail waved too.

"Hello," she said. "You're a Knight, aren't you? I'm Sailor Daphne."

She gave a diplomatic smile, pretending she wasn't still red-faced from sprinting.

"I was wondering when I would start seeing Knights around. You'd think there would be more here, since this is Earth, with the Academy and all."

Yes, she knew the Academy had been gone since ancient times, as some people put it, but it still had to mean something that it had been here before.

"It's senshi I keep running into, though."

Spei found himself looking at his first Senshi, although she didn't look anything like he'd imagined a Senshi would. For one thing, there was that tail. It was only Daphne announcing herself with the appellation "Sailor" that told him she was a Senshi and not a Mauvian of some flavor.

"I keep running into other Knights," he said wryly, one eyebrow going up. "You'd think I'd be seeing more Senshi here."

He studied her briefly, not wanting to seem rude by staring. Her uniform was interesting – it looked to be either fur-trimmed or incongruously fur-lined, festively spotted in shades of blue and green and purple and white. Then there was that tail, which made her look like a cat-girl (except she was missing the ears). He noticed, too, that her skin seemed to be covered with the same sort of spots that her tail bore.

And she mentioned the Academy… which, according to the Code, had been destroyed a thousand years ago.

Stepping forward, he held out his hand. "I'm Spei, a Page of the Moon. Pleased to meet you, Daphne. I wish we still had the Academy – as it is, we have to learn everything pretty much on our own."

Daphne was very good and only made a tiny sound of frustration when she saw the way his eyes flicked to her spots and tail. Then, she turned sideways with her tail held out straight behind her so that he could get a better look at it. Once she was posed, she glanced over her shoulder to look at him with her catlike eyes.

"I know, I know. I'm not human," she told him, shaking her head like she was surprised, too. "And yes, I also know it's been a thousand Earth years since the Academy fell. This place has just been so central to Knights that it makes sense that your souls would find their way back here. Less so with us."

She still wasn't sure exactly what it was that had pulled her here in an instant, or caused the other senshi to be reborn here instead of elsewhere when so many worlds seemed to be facing troubles right now.

"If you've found other Knights, are they helping you learn, at least?"

Spei nodded. "Yes, I've found other Knights, and they've been very helpful. I've learned a lot since the Code awakened me. From the Code itself, and from the other Knights."

He looked at her posed deliberately and blushed faintly with embarrassment. Honestly, he hadn't meant to stare or frustrate Daphne in any way by taking in her cat-like appearance – he was only trying to figure out if she was a Mauvian or not. Clearly not. No, she was an alien Senshi. He wished he'd known about them before embarrassing himself in front of one.

"No no no, I didn't mean to upset you, Daphne, I'm really sorry." Spei sighed. "It's just that you're the first Senshi of any world that I've met. I've been running into other Knights almost exclusively. That and Chaos agents. And I've been looking for Mauvians. So it was an honest mistake. I apologize."

"Sorry to disappoint on the Mauvian front," said Daphne, dropping the pose and just letting her tail swish behind her like before. Not that Spei had asked if she was anything other than Daphnean, but that Lieutenant had thought she was a Mauvian, which had made her wonder how many other people thought the same. "I was never all that good with technology. Instead, you've met a senshi now."

Her smile was polite enough. She as past being offended. It was annoying that nobody here had any idea what to make of people visiting from other worlds, but it was something she was getting used to.

"I'm glade you're getting some support already. It might be learning on your feet, but isn't that better than years of dry lessons?"

Daphne would have skipped out on all that, given the choice. She'd learned best when she'd actually tried out diplomacy, and she didn't know why it would be any different with trying to destroy Chaos.

"Yeah. I'm not very good with dry lessons," Spei said with a faint but wry little smile. That, he thought, was a given, since he was a college dropout. Even though it hadn't been boredom or the dryness of classes that caused him to quit, but a broken heart.

But he wondered about the Academy. What an amazing place that must have been in its heyday, before the fall of the Silver Millennium; Knights from all over the galaxy gathering to learn and share and train in one united place, as one united faction. He was still learning a lot from the Code and the other Knights he encountered, but it would have been nice to get at least a little formal training.

He shrugged. "I'll just have to continue my search for a Mauvian then. I'm still glad I've met you though, Daphne." His first Order Senshi, and she was a real space alien. Who would have imagined?

"If I recall correctly, your name Daphne is the name of the world you protect, right? I'm very new at this…"

"Neither am I," said Daphne, thinking back to all of the times that she'd sneaked away from her lessons with the teachers that she didn't like so that she could go out running on the savannas, or check in at home to see what was going on with her family.

It was awful that senshi had to hide here, and the knights, too, but at least they could learn from each other instead of from instructors who were only going off of an idea of what a senshi should be.

"And, while I'm not a Mauvian, I can probably get you in touch with one if you need something," she said. Maybe it would have been kinder to start out by saying that, but she always ended up getting caught up on the fact that Mau was a completely different planet from Daphne.

'I live with one, and there's another who's been helping me get adjusted. I can let him know about you, or even give him a call if it's urgent."

She had the phone now, after all.
