I stand at, a slightly short, 5’3” and despite my age I am in good shape – I believe that keeping yourself fit is a necessity. I take pride in my appearance, being a businessman it is important for me to make a good impression - My hair is grey and cropped short and I keep myself clean shaven. I require glasses and my eyes are grey. My wardrobe is mostly suited to more formal situations; suits, ties, etcetera. My ‘casual-wear’ consists of one or two polo shirts and canvas trousers, perhaps not the most fashionable clothing, but I do not think ripped at the knees jeans and a backwards cap would suit me.

A spacious open plan apartment, situated on the top floor of a new development within Gambino. There are three bedrooms, one master and two spares, all of which have en suits, both of the spare bedrooms would be suitable for the young raevan to move into. The decor is clean and modern and the living room and dining space have large glass windows providing excellent views over the sea. I employ a maid that is present every midday to clean, they are neat and professional and I assure you they would cause no hassle to Vyn.

I'm quite an avid collector of marine fish. There are several medium to large sized tanks around the appartment.

I believe that I would be a good guardian for Vyn because I can easily support the needs of a young growing raevans, I have the funds to keep her supplied with everything she requires and I have lots of life experience to draw on if she requires advice or help. I also think that it is beneficial to state that I already have a basic understanding of raevans, from a couple of meetings with raevans and their guardians, and since meeting Xui I have been eagerly trying to learn more about the exquisitely interesting beings.

Vyn’s breath lingered visibly on the glass, clouding the view outside. She sighed, further misting the surface, before raising one slender finger and pressing it to the glass. The cold stung, yet she didn’t really care as she drew something in the condensation. A couple of quick strokes later a name was marked on the window.
‘Shuura.’
Dark eyes stared wistfully at it; observing the beads of water gathering at the bottom of the letters, threatening to roll downwards and distort the frei’s previous guardian’s name.
However awful the teenager had looked after her, the meals of greasy junk food and the occasional thoughtlessness, she couldn’t help but miss the raven haired human, who had not only acted as her guardian but as a friend too. She’d given her a soul and looked after her throughout the start of her life. She’d even shaped her likes and dislikes, introduced her to her favourite type of music; J-rock.
She was listening to it right now, the fast paced Japanese lyrics playing through brand-new headphones in her pointed ears. The sound quality was perfect and Vyn could almost imagine that she was at a live gig, her rune pulsating to the beat, the band on stage before her.
However, she couldn’t quite relish the enjoyment it gave her. The headphones had been given to her by Shuura’s replacement...
She flicked her wings in distaste - If the old creep thought he could buy her allegiance, he needed to re-think. So far he’d been nice enough; taken her home, given her a room, a new portable music player and insisted that if she needed anything all she needed to do was ask. But she didn’t quite trust the old man; she was used to the vibrant, young energy of Shuura, however this new man, Ethan, was old. His slower, more paced movements put her on edge. Or perhaps she just mistrusted those intelligent grey eyes in the slightly withered frame – plants only got withered when they were ill or about to die. But the man still seemed fit and healthy, and it didn’t quite seem right to the rose frei.
In fact, he was in the same room right now, perched on a sofa, feigning interest in one of the several fish tanks that were dotted around the apartment, whilst in reality he was occasionally sneaking concerned glances at her.
Pretending to ignore the old man’s stares Vyn cranked up the volume, fixing her attention on the view outside the window.
The winter weather made the beach seem deathly cold, and the sea with small white capped waves seemed bleak and unattractive. She tried to find some sort of plant to look at, a familiar rose... A tree? Anything? She felt so cut off from everything she was used to, no Shuura, no plants. Yes, she had been born in Gambino around this time, when frost laced the beaches rather than tourists, but not long after she’d been whisked back to Durem by Shuura.
Gaze slipping from the gaunt scene the frei found her attentions diverted back into the room. Deciding not to continue with her sulking she turned and silently glided past Ethan. She might as well do something with her time and she was feeling the slight tang of hunger.
Her room was, like all the other rooms, spacious. There was a clean red bedcover neatly-made on the bed that had presumably been done by the maid. That was another thing she was not used to - Shuura’s room was always in a state of chaotic mess, but here, Ethan had a woman do all the cleaning for him and so everything always seemed pristine.
She closed the door and flicked the light switch.
The darkness wasn’t perfect, a slant of bright winter daylight lanced through a gap in the curtains but there was enough for her to feed. Shadows coiled and writhed and her amber irises gleamed as she devoured the gloom. She felt more at ease as she experienced the satisfying feeling of quenching her hunger. As she fed she considered her predicament again, through the less irritable, well-fed mindset she was in;
There seemed to be nothing she could do right now, Shuura had been deemed unable to look after her needs and she was pretty sure the Lab wouldn’t go back on that decision. She chewed one crimson painted nail thoughtfully. The old man wasn’t that bad... At least he seemed to leave her to her own devices for now. Perhaps she should take him up on his offer whilst it was still standing.
Getting concert tickets wouldn’t be half-bad after all... She’d always wanted to see ‘Qing Tian’, the first J-rock band Shuura had introduced to her. Maybe she could be bought over, for now.

"QUICK! Vyn needs a new bra, what do you do?"

Ethan was slightly aback by the urgency of the question, but after collecting himself began his answer; “A new bra.. Well, obviously that’s quite a problem. Can’t have her going without a bra, that’s just not pleasant for her – neither is it very lady like.” Ethan paused to consider the best plan of action.
“As an older member of the male gender I myself have little knowledge on which brassier is best for a growing girl.” He smiled apologetically at this, before continuing. “However, I’m sure a receptionist I employ would have ample knowledge at what would be the best solution and if possible I would seek her help before embarking on an undergarment shopping trip.
But, if I were to hazard a guess at what would have to be done I would take her to a shop selling women’s under garments. Once there, I would have her professionally measured so that whatever we purchased would be the correct size. (I assume Vyn doesn’t know how to measure herself, from my experience with raevans it doesn’t seem the type of knowledge she’d be familiar with.)
After she had been advised what size would fit best, I’d probably allow her to choose a few bras that took her fancy.” He almost flushed red as a thought occurred to him. “Though from her current clothing style – lacy and rather revealing – I’d probably have to make sure they were suitable for a girl of her age...”

Again there was a rather awkward pause before Ethan managed to present an answer, however, when he did speak his tone of voice seemed to be displaying a little upset and carried a hint of defence. “Ah, yes.. Perhaps it does seem as though my money is an overwhelming factor in my reasons for being a good guardian.” The businessman licked his lips, regarding the questioner from behind his glasses with steely grey eyes. “However, on top my funds and successful, well providing career, I believe that I can give Vyn most non-material support that she requires.
I can socialise and communicate well; many a dinner party and conference meeting have allowed me to develop good conversational skills on a variety of topics. That, alongside my age, has given me years of experience to draw knowledge from if Vyn needed advice of some sort. I must admit that outside of business I can be a little aloof and occasionally irritable towards others and tend to keep to myself, but despite that, I would happily and regularly engage in conversations with Vyn. She may be quiet and unsociable at present, but I assume that is due to lack of interesting and considerate conversations, which, like I said, I could provide if given the chance. Perhaps I could even encourage her to come out of her shell; just like a plant all she needs is a bit of nurturing.”
He was almost smirking with confidence as he concluded his reply, “Perhaps it is true that money and material objects play an overly large part in my life, but Vyn would give light, (or should I say shade, considering her shadowy nature?) to a whole new fatherly side of me and in turn I can hopefully help her bloom into a rounded happy raevan.”

"So...Vyn has the soul of a delicate rose, which needs light, but her Essence is shadow...do y'think she needs light to survive just as much as she needs what it casts?"

“An interesting question Alex, and one that I wouldn’t have put much thought to if you hadn’t of mentioned it.” Considering the question posed with Ethan smiled as he formulated his reply, thinking on the spot where he stood with such an issue.
“My answer to your question is probably yes. I may not have children of my own and I have never had much chance to be involved in the upbringing of anyone else’s children, but I do know that even if a child dislikes something it can still be good for them.” He smiled as he explained what he meant. “Take vegetables for example. Most children would pull disgusted faces if presented with a plateful of the dreaded leafy greens. However, it’s common knowledge to us adults that however ‘icky’ or ‘yucky’ they are, they contain vitamins and such that are vital for a balanced diet. Like you stated, Vyn has the soul of a light requiring rose, and so I assume that she needs a healthy amount of sunlight just as much as human children need their daily portion of vegetables.
It wouldn’t be a balanced ‘diet’ if all that Vyn indulged in were shadows and had no sunlight to support her soul’s appetite for nutrients; it would be like allowing a child to gorge themselves of meat alone – unhealthy to say the least.”
Nodding thoughtfully, as though weighing up other possibilities to be considered inside his head, Ethan smiled thankfully at Alex. “Thank you for that question. I suppose it shows that I still have a fair bit to consider. I am neither scientist nor expert on the supernatural, but I do have a helpful logical thinking process that will help me should I encounter any more problems similar to that of which you’ve just asked me..”
