Kinsey was relatively unsure about bring her new charge out with her, but she very well couldn't leave Varun home alone. Especially not with her dog; she hardly trusted Ford by himself! ( She'd lost quite a few pillows to the German Shepard Dog puppy, she should probably replace those before anyone came over to visit. ) Varun, however. She imaged the newborn Raevan was a little trickier than a dog. Besides, it would be good for him to get out, right? Right!
Of course, Kinsey might have thought of a plan before she took Varun out in public. She never liked being stared out; it was one of those teenager things she never grew out of. So, of course, bringing her Raevan with his ribbon and his run and his general lack of anything chest down out to a popular shopping center was not, in fact, the greatest idea ever. So she took the Raevan by the hand and started to drag him towards the toy store, ignoring all the people nearby.
She sighed with relief as they pushed through the door; the store looked generally uncrowded. "Okay, Varun. I just need to get something for my brother's birthday, and then we can get the hell outta here." Kinsey offered Varun a grin. Varun simply stared. This new place was very interesting.

It would be difficult too believe that a toy store, full of vibrant gizmos and garish toys, would house fond memories for such a refined businessman like Ethan. Nobody would've guessed that the peculiar couple, a neatly suited man and a floating torso with a circlet of thorns, would turn into the shop. In fact, one of two passer bys nodded in their direction, whispering to their companions and pondering what business the odd pair had in the toy store. Of course, it was nothing serious, they were not out on an intense shopping mission - unlike the legions of parents and children that also flocked to the store. The older human adjusted his glasses as they entered, turning to his charge and stating proudly, "This is where I first learned of raevans." The frei tilted her head to stare disinterestedly at him, she wasn't quite in the mood for idle chit-chat. They were in town for a reason - her music player was broken. Since the concert Ethan had been trying to talk with her in increasing amounts; perhaps he had been spurred on in his attempts after seeing her being sociable with Rivener. But he wasn't Rivener, wasn't her friend, and so the rose femme didn't want to talk to him half as much as the fell raevan of darkness. She just wanted to complete the task of getting her music player fixed so that she could plug the headphones back in and sink into a trance of beats and guitar rifts that would drown out Ethan.
Ethan inwardly winced at the withering gaze that Vyn was giving him.. It was made all the more penetrating by the fact that one of her eyes was swollen black - a reminder of the catastrophic birthday present. Ethan shrugged slightly. Defeated. Perhaps the detour into the toy store wasn't a wise move whilst the raevan was in such an uncooperative mood. However, the smiling rows of teddybears just inside the store provided a fluffy backdrog to something that Ethan quite simply refused to let drop.
Another raevan was in the store?
The businessman straightened himself and nodded in the direction of the frei in question; he had long red hair and was dressed in warm autumnal colours. From experience with other raevans Ethan knew that Vyn was more likely to strike up and hold a conversation with those that were similar to herself. Since the concert she hadn't seen any more raevans and all his attempts at talking to her whether it be about what had happened or simple conversation, had been shot down in flames. Perhaps this lucky encounter would get her talking again and pry her out of her sullen, unsociable mindset? It was worth a try at the very least.
He strode over to the lad. "Hello, I don't believe we've met before." He greeted.
Vyn deflated a little. Ethan was dragging her into another distraction from their purpose. However, the raevan he'd spotted was new to her. She'd never seen him before... She pondered if he was a new born, or whether he was yet another face created during her absence.

“Think you’ll be able to manage it from here?” Hazeline asked as she turned to face Joshua and Xiu. “Sure, no problem,” said Joshua from the backseat of the car. “We’ll just be hopping in to get the stuff we want and hop out again, faster than a tv commercial!”
“Unless there’s a queue,” said Xiu smiling at the young boy’s enthusiasms. “But we’ll be as fast as possible Hazeline,”
“Alright,” nodded Hazeline. “Although the reason for you wanting that toy is beyond me Joshua,”
“Hey! It’s like…THE best thing that could ever happen!” protested Joshua. “I mean like…come on! How many SUPER RARE MECHANISIMO action figures have been released anyway? I have got to have it,”
“Riiight,” said Hazeline rolling her eyes. Talk about overreacting. But then again, this was Joshua they were talking about. The kid who wanted to name Xiu ‘Grandmaster Drason-Slayer’ or something…
“I’ll be back in twenty minutes okay? And if the both of you are not back here by then, you are walking home; floating in Xiu’s case. Understand?”
“Yes, Hazeline,” said Joshua and Xiu in unison as they exited the car and made their way to the toy store.
Upon entering the toystore, both Joshua and Xiu’s attention was directed towards the sight of two floating torsos and their respective guardians beside them. “Woah!” Exclaimed Joshua in amazement. “Is there like…a raevan meeting here?”
“I do not know,” said Xiu smiling with delight as he recognized Vyn and Ethan and Kinsey. He had met the two humans in this shop not too long ago and met Vyn during a dinner takeaway. The other raevan however, Xiu was not familiar with.
“Mr. Ethan, Vyn! Kinsey,” called out Xiu and gave the others a wave.

"Hello, I don't believe we've met."
Varun twisted, expression set in a small sneer as wings and fins started to flare out to the side. A man, near his woman. What did he want, anyways? The aquatic Frei rumbled deep in his chest and narrowed sea green eyes, floating a foot or two back as he tried to size up the stranger, wings and fins now extended to their full size. He rumbled again, lips curling as he began to bare fangs and bristle.
Fortunately for everyone involved, Kinsey noticed the hostile behavior and took immediate action, smacking the back of the Raevan's head in a sharp cuff. "Varun. What do you think you are doing?" she hissed, glancing nervously at the store's patron before she realized she knew the man. "Ethan? Sorry about that, he's a little weird with- You have a Raevan!"
Another Raevan? Varun was quickly distracted from the death glare he had been giving his guardian, eyes darting over to the imposing man and...he did have a Raevan. The Frei snorted and set his jaw, observing the female from afar. Why was she so quiet, so hiding? Questions filled the redhead's mind and as he tried to figure out how to ask with his horribly limited vocabulary, a third Raevan entered the shop.
"What is this, some sort of convention?" Kinsey laughed, waving to Xiu. She had fond memories of the white Raevan, he was very sweet and polite. Perhaps he could shove some manners into her Frei.
It was unlikely, really. Varun's wings and fins stiffened as more intruders arrived, the low growl returning to his voice. He started to drift towards Kinsey again, floating in front of her as he sized up the pasty new-comer and his boy. The boy was small and Varun hadn't had much trouble with Raevans and his guardian yet. He let out a small sigh, but didn't cease the display.
"Varun. Name? Name?" He pointed to each Raevan as he asked. He'd deal with Ethan after.

The frei's reaction was rather startling. Fins flaring and a hostile glare made the rather delicate rose wilt and shy away from the bared fangs and low growl that spelt out only one thing; trouble. However, her guardian was taking a very different approach to the hostility exhibited by the autumnal raevan. Rather that flinching back he kept his expression set in stone, only moving one feature - a grey brow. The feisty boy could be likened to pushy entrepreneurs that he dealt with; so filled with their own self importance that they would demand all sorts from the successful business man, but all it took to deflate their enlarged egos was no reaction to their hotheaded nature; metaphorically countering fire and steam with stone and ice. Luckily, cold words weren't needed from Ethan as Kinsey swiftly dealt with her unruly charge with a curt clout behind the head.
Stern lips twitching into a smile Ethan nodded at Kinsey's exclamation, "Yes, not too long after meeting you and Xiu I became involved in Vyn's adoption." Warmth flooding fully back into his features he sidled out from in front of Vyn, who had floated behind him during Varun's outburst. Admittedly his charge did look a little worse for wear with the swelling of the concert's bruise still an ugly sore on her fair complexion... But rather than dwell on the unfortunate events Vyn had been subjected to, a backfire in his plan to treat her for her birthday, Ethan nodded at Varun, diverting the attention back onto him. "Although I could very much say the same back to you Knisey. Last time we met, this strapping young lad was naught but a bottle and fel essence - or at the very least, I assume he was not yet born since you neither mentioned him, nor had him accompanying you."
However, before the conversation could go much further both Ethan and his adopted daughter swivelled as their names were called. Approaching them was an increasingly familiar face..
"Xiu." Vyn sighed, as if this new development had sapped the last of her energy from her; her voice barely more than a exhale of breath. This little detour of Ethan's had not only resulted in them being confronted by the aggressive finned frei, but Xiu had also turned up. Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment as he drifted towards them. Ethan highly admired the white raevan and the thought og him seeing Vyn with a swollen eye and puce bruise made her shrivel up inside. Her outward stance mirrored this helpless shame and her arms pulled tight around her torso and her head dipped - messy hair feebly covering the most of the damage.
Ethan on the other hand was overjoyed to see the oriental frei. "Xiu! Who's this?" He inquired, gesturing to the boy accompanying him with a friendly hand motion.
If the lightly armoured boy hadn't yet gleaned Xiu's name, Vyn would be surprised. But she felt a tinge of envy towards the fact that Xiu could probably wiggle out of donating his name directly to the intimating newborn. ((Although, judging from her impressions on him the shadow assumed he would be polite whatever the circumstances.)) She however, didn't have that escape route and begrudgingly she replied; "Vyn." Wishing for nothing much than to escape, get her batteries and return home.

“It’s wonderful to see you again, Mr. Ethan, Kinsey, Vyn. Although… if this is indeed a convention of sorts, I was not aware of it Ms. Kinsey,” said Xiu with a friendly laugh before turning to give Varun a polite glance. The other raevan made an stunning figure with armor and an impressive set of fins. He was also eyeing Xiu in a manner which the white frei hope could be attributed to the fact that he was young and wary of new people. Xiu knew the feeling all too well. Giving the leviathan raevan a polite nod, Xiu tried to break the ice “ And it’s always a pleasure to meet another of my kind,”
However, before Xiu would converse further with the finned raevan, Ethan’s questions made the frei momentarily shift his attention to Ethan’s familiar figure. “I do apologize Mr. Ethan, my excitement has made me rather forgetful,” said Xiu as he shifted his position slightly to allow the adults and Vyn a better view of the child. “He’s Joshua; Hazeline’s younger brother,”
“Half-brother actually,” said Joshua correcting the white frei before glancing at the adults present. There was an old dude, a young woman and two red-headed raevans. Feeling shy all of a sudden, Joshua stepped a little closer to the white frei. This was an adult talk thing and being the youngest, Joshua was entitled to being a watchful observer rather than an active participant.
Xiu chuckled softly as the young boy took comfort in the white frei’s presence. Xiu supposed that if he had not met Ethan, Kinsey and Vyn previously he too would be inclined to be shy. But nevertheless it was flattering to know that Joshua saw him as a person to turn to when things got a little intimidating.
It was sometime during this train of thought that Varun had uttered a low growl and stiffened his wings …which triggered an immediate reaction from Xiu. With an almost subtle but quick movement, the white frei had Joshua safely behind him as he seized Kinsey’s new raevan thoughtfully. That growl and fin stiffening was definitely a threatening sign. Blue eyes regarded the other warily but Xiu knew better than to invite trouble by flaring his wings as well.
Joshua on the other hand, had not been too bothered by Varun’s aggressive display or Xiu protective one. In fact, the young boy had not noticed much of the recent happenings simply because… “ OH MY GAWD! It’s the SUPER RARE MECHANISIMO action figure!” exclaimed Joshua as he pulled free of the white raevan and rushed off to the nearby display stand. Having just enough thoughts about Xiu, Joshua turned briefly to face the white raevan, “Stay there! I’ll return once I have this baby in my arms!”
Joshua’s sudden movement had surprised Xiu but the white frei was grateful for it. It meant that Joshua was out of range of any possible danger the new raevan might pose. Settling into a more passive form, Xiu realize that although present, Vyn had hardly spoken at all during the conversation. True, the other was the quiet kind and had not spoken much during their last meeting but surely the rose raevan had not hunched like that. “Vyn…is something wrong?” asked Xiu with obvious concern. Varun and his question was momentarily forgotten.

"Oh, that's wonderful," Kinsey replied, trying to get a better look at Vyn over Ethan's shoulder. "I hope Vars didn't scare her too much." The youth paused to shoot the redhead a dirty look -he was too busy sizing up Xiu as he arrive to care- before looking back to Ethan. "He...he was troubles with males, I'm beginning to think. Albeit, we've only met one female Raevan thus far, and she was one of the shyest things I've ever met." Kinsey paused and tapped her chin. Well, maybe she was wrong. He wasn't hostile with Isikoro, Eiry or Riviner, but he was very cold with Phiel, Aphismet, David and Josh. And, bloody hell, he had picked a fight with Prajna.
"Alright. Maybe he's just grumpy. I'm not really sure. I've only had him a couple weeks." And the dark-haired woman couldn't help her bright little smile, rubbing one of the rubies under her left eye thoughtfully. Sure, he had a little bit of an attitude problem, but he was always very good with her. He'd never threatened her, ever.
Varun didn't particularly care for the humans' conversation, instead intrigued by the pale Raevan's reaction to himself. He was putting his boy behind him, much like Varun would do whenever a man tried to get too close to his Kinsey. The stiff fins and wings slowly started to relax. Vyn had offered her name and while Xiu had not, it was certainly said enough between everyone else. Of course, Varun didn't particularly like being ignored. "Wrong? Wrong, Vyn?"
The redhead raised his eyebrows and focused his attention on the female for the time being; if she was not right, perhaps that was why she was so withdrawn. Brushing some hair away from his face, he floated a little closer and tried to get a better look. "Is Vyn's?" He motioned to Ethan. He'd be upset if he had a guardian like that, too!

Ethan chuckled at the child’s enthusiasm regarding the figurine. The boy’s obliviousness to the sticky situation that Xiu had been attempting the shield him from was charming yet Ethan couldn’t help but wonder... Should Xiu, such a young raevan compared to some, be out with the responsibility of not only looking after himself but his guardian’s younger brother too? On the other hand it wasn’t his place to question the parenting skills of other guardians; perhaps he could even take a leaf out of Hazeline’s book and give Vyn some free reign every once in a while... He hadn’t let her leave his sight in weeks and he supposed that she would probably relish the freedom. As for Kinsey’s fretting about her charge disliking males Ethan shrugged. Personally he wasn’t too bothered about the lad’s aggression towards him; especially whilst Kinsey was there to repeat the same punishment as before. “He’s a strong young lad. He’s just asserting himself I suppose.” He mused in reply, carefully watching as the red haired frei drifted to his own charge.
The concerns of the other raevans made Vyn recoil. Her obvious hiding had produced completely the wrong effect; attracting attention to her rather than making her bruise slip past unnoticed. First polite concern from Xiu, followed by “Wrong? Wrong, Vyn?” From Varun. Vyn flinched as he spoke; he was demanding rather than asking out of concern like Xiu. Internally she was torn between allowing them to see the bruise, she was nearly entirely sure that Xiu would be sympathetic. But this new raevan... The shadow was totally at a loss for how he would react.
If she did pull back the loose veil of hair to show the ugly bruising he could react with disgust. But if she continued to try to hide it he could well become angry again... Which fate was worse, revolt or ire? Not wanting to evoke his fury she reluctantly moved her protective hair, her swollen black eye blinking out at them.
"I... got hurt at a concert." She sighed in explanation, waiting with baited breath for the dreaded reactions of the others.

"Wrong? Wrong, Vyn?"
Xiu tilted his head slightly at the other’s words feeling slightly indignant that Varun had sort cut in into their conversation; and in (in Xiu’s opinion) a rather crude manner in fact. This new frei certainly had a knack for grating a nerve Xiu never thought he had. Flicking his wings slightly, Xiu stared at the red-headed male with a sort of watchful silence. Now that he had come to think of it, the red hue of Varun’s hair reminded the white frei of…Prajna; another raevan Xiu was not hoping to meet anytime soon. A brief frown crossed the white frei’s features as he recalled their meeting in the park.
Perhaps…I am starting to develop a sort of prejudice against red-headed males although granted, Prajna’s gender isn’t really discernable just yet mused Xiu allowing his mind to wander a little while casting the occasional glance in Joshua’s direction and keeping an ear open to Vyn’s and Varun’s conversation. Varun had apparently asked Vyn if she belonged to Ethan. Xiu saw no point in interrupting that conversation as it would not only seem impolite but also as though Xiu was in a competition with Varun to vie for the rose raevan’s attention; something Vyn would definitely not appreciate. In fact, Vyn was currently looking rather horrified as Varun assailed her with gruffly worded questions. Feeling a little guilty ( after all, he was partly to blame for directing unwanted attention to the rose frei’s behaviour), Xiu was about to suggest that perhaps the red-headed male should back down a little when the rose frei lifted her hair to reveal a nasty looking black eye and answered his query.
"I... got hurt at a concert."
“Goodness, Vyn! How did that happen?” asked Xiu visibly shocked size of the bruised eye. The bruise, if anything, seemed to have enhanced the blackness of Vyn’s sclera ; giving the rose frei a rather asymmetrical and disconcerting look. Drifting over, Xiu gently lifted a hand as though to touch the rose raevan’s face but at the last moment thought better of it.
“Who…did this to you Vyn?” asked Xiu quietly but with enough anger in it to give one the impression of the lull before the storm. A bruise is caused by an impact onto the skin but knowing Vyn, Xiu could safely deduce that the chances of Vyn accidentally running face first into an object with sufficient force to cause a bruising was close to nil. So that left Xiu with the option that the bruise was a man made one.

Varun was being ignored and he did not like it. The female had flinched when he spoke; he had meant nothing but to ask what had happened. It wasn't his fault his vocabulary was so poor! And the strange white one, Xiu, he wasn't helping anything, not at all. He was here first, the other male had absolutely no business intruding. He opened his mouth, about to tell off the wintery Frei with what little vocabulary he had when Vyn lifted her hair to show off her wound.
Promptly distracted, he shut his mouth and blinked, trying his best not to stare. Kinsey had told him that staring was bad. But that wound! It was very impressive. Vyn must be a good fighter, to earn something like that. Varun had yet to earn anything so visible. She would have that thing for days. The shadow frei should be proud, Varun thought, but instead she was shame-faced and quiet. The leviathan sighed and tipped his head, listening to the others speak when it dawned on him that Vyn was a girl. Kinsey had told him to never hit a girl. That was a rule for all men and someone had clearly broken it.
Bristling slightly, Varun eyed Xiu before nodding. "Yes, who?" he added, trying to keep his voice a little softer. It would do him no good if Vyn kept flinching away, but at least he and the oriental Frei were on the same page now. He couldn't be completely annoying, if he understood that fundamental rule. Of course, what they would do about it was entirely different, of this, he was sure, but something would be done, at the very least.
Meanwhile, Kinsey was still standing with Ethan and Joshua, watching the trio of Raevans quietly. "Yes. I suppose he may be doing as such," she finally said, looking over at Ethan. "But it still concerns me. I never taught him to do that, and it's not like any males he's met have really challenged him. There's no reason for him to be so...I don't know. I just don't think he should be so confrontational." Coming from a large family, she was well aware most confrontations did not need any help happening. It would be very good if she could tease that personality quirk out of her charge, asap.

Who? Who? Who?! Vyn's leathery wings fluttered slightly as she was interrogated by the two boys. The tone of voice in Xiu's request was more comforting than demanding, but on the other hand Varun remained quite snappish - although admittedly he was somewhat less terse, softening his voice as if to avoid startling her again. Together however they certainly made Vyn feel as though she was expected to remember the exact features of the person who'd started all the trouble. ((Her diminished self confidence certainly didn't help in the situation either.)) She grappled with her memory of the night; the offender had been a man, but she definitely didn't know his name and his features weren't clear in her mind's eye. He'd been bouncing around a lot at the time - moshing - and with all the chaos that had ensued his intimate details had escaped her.
"I don't know.." She muttered, hoping that not knowing anything would make them drop the subject; after all, there was nothing that they could do. They wouldn't be able to find the offender, and even if they did... Rivener's poison had dealt with him quite effectively. He definitely wouldn't make the same mistake again. Despite this, she did feel a little niggle of comfort knowing that Xiu and even this new raevan felt some sort of desire to aid her - despite the fact that it was a lost cause and she'd prefer the attention drawn away from her blackened eye.
Mulling over the boy's apparently unexplained aggression Ethan frowned. It seemed slightly confusing that the raevan should have this violent streak for no apparent reason; everyone, even humans had reasons for personality traits. Although, since this boy was more of a newborn than other raevans that he'd met so far - perhaps the reason was more skin deep."If you don't mind me asking..." Ethan began, before lowering his voice slightly, "what was Varun made of?" He smiled politely after asking, gesturing slightly to the fins and such. "He's just so different to other raevans that I've seen - it's intriguing."
