Who: Domevlo & Vyn (guardian appearances) When: Mid-day Where: Cemetery, outskirts of Barton Weather: Clear skies and sunny with a brisk autumn breeze...
It was a beautiful sunny day, a little chilly out but not something Thanatos minded so much. Domevlo had demanded a ride around town and it had been a while since the two had spent a little time out together. Heading for the lesser traveled roads, Xan smiled under his helmet as he watched the frei from over his shoulder. "Be sure to hang on tight to me." He informed, noting Domo's grip was loosening with every moment he pointed at this or that.
"Domo know!" He shouted but once again shot out a slender finger. "What that?" He inquired peeking through the tented helmet toward a large field. It was fenced off; harboring stones and large statues sprinkled in various places. Some grass was growing high in places and wild rose bushes in others. "Domo want see! Go mew-zee-um! Mew-zee-um!" He shrieked.
With a short chuckle Xan veered to the left heading to this 'mew-zee-um' but would have to explain it better. When they pulled off to the side of the road in front of it, he removed his helmet, then helped Domevlo's with his. "This isn't a museum Domo, it's a cemetery. This is where people are laid to rest when they die."
"Die? He asked tentatively, "Domo put bugs to sleep they go here?"
"No. Bugs don't go here but people do."
"People?" Looking around he wasn't sure he got it but then turned to Xan curiously. "Cow-thing is people... cow-thing go here when sleep?"
"Eventually, yes. When it's time, I'll be laid to rest here." It was a tender topic but instead of dwelling on it he moved the bike further inside the cemetery to take a closer look.
It was an eerie place even in daylight but the lead frei didn't feel afraid. He was upset that Xan would someday be put here but as long as he was still awake, Domo wouldn't let that happen. "Domo not let Cow-thing come here. No go sleep, kay?!"
"Alright. I won't go sleep." Xan tried to reassure, while petting his ashen head. "Lets take a look around." There was no guarantee when his time was up but for the most part, Domo needed to understand that humans just didn't live forever. And with Domelvo's particular existence it appeared, neither did Raevans.

Over the past week the rose had found it increasingly difficult to remain cooped up in the penthouse. The clean white walls and smooth modern surfaces felt extraordinarily alien all of a sudden and she felt increasingly at ease whilst out and about... This explorative streak was at first enjoyed by Ethan – seeing his ward wanting to go out and spread her wings at last was a relief, especially since he had been worrying about the peculiar condition she was in – but now it was becoming frustrating.. The rose was seeking out wilder places, Ethan was finding her meandering further and further away from civilisation and the bustling heart of urbanised Gaia. He guessed it was something to do with the increasing strength of her soul’s influence. Yes. One normally associated roses with being a delicately pleasant flower and that’s normally how Vyn acted, but her soul wasn’t actually a common potted rose – it had been a wild rose that Shuura had captured. A rambling rose that produced a tangle of thorny briars dotted with dangerously beautiful flowers.
Right now the girl had taken herself out on another whim... This graveyard was similar to the homely place that Shuura had once collected her soul from. She trailed between the gravestones, fingers dragging across the back of graves and dislodging the mosses and small plants growing there. She smiled to herself as she thought about Ethan. No doubt he would be making a fuss about her whereabouts. Sometimes he could be ridiculously protective – she could look after herself... Plus today was too nice to stay inside. The sun was shining and the fresh green that tinted her pallor skin lapped up the light. It felt good.... Similar to her shadow feeding but totally opposite at the same time - what had Ethan called it? Photosynthesis? Whatever it was... She was quite content to be here in the comfortable location letting the pleasant experience wash over her.
However, her lone stroll through the overgrown graveyard appeared to be interrupted as voices reached her tapered ears. She turned on the spot, staring with her amber eyes across the sea of grey plaques. Two people were standing in discussion at the entrance, one was a human... The other, a raevan.
“Mmm?” She gazed with interest at the familiar grey skinned individual; Domelov the frei who was wearing Gage’s appearance without any knowledge of the boy who had died to provide him with a soul. She swallowed her bitterness. She shouldn’t have any reason to dislike the other raevan. It wasn’t his fault that Gage had died. She might as well greet them... She’d avoided him throughout Lucia’s party, perhaps it was time to try and make amends.

The lead frei moved away from the entrance finding it boring compared to all that was present before him. As he floated away from his guardian and further into the cemetery his eyes drank in all that they had to see. Gray slabs with different names on each one, some with phrases and others with departing words of farewell. A field of tombstones as far as the eyes could see; yet all was silent. Who were these people? Where did they come from? What had caused them to reach their eternal sleep? So many questions and yet Domevlo kept it all inside. He wasn't sure why but the quiet calm seemed to play into all this. The fact that Xan hadn't come after him -- infact -- he had remained at the entrance arms folded as he watched his charge from afar.
This was good, Domevlo thought. He could explore with little hindrance. Slipping further from the entrance his gray form blended nicely with the lead induced slabs. Touching their cool surfaces he wondered about the human that was laid to rest there. Who were they? What did they do for a living? Had they left their loved ones behind? So many confusing questions Domo wasn't sure how anyone could live on without their loved ones. Looking back toward the entrance his eyes lowered, seeming sad, perhaps in deep thought. Never could he imagine a life without his Cow-thing. Never!
Just as these thoughts flew into his mind, a soft whisper caught his attention. Turning abruptly he saw the wine red tresses come into view, the black sclera and amber eyes like his own watching him. Out of instinct he moved back only to bump into a stone slab. Gripping it he remained, floating low to the ground an indication of surrender - maybe even defeat. He didn't know how to react around this Raevan; with their first meeting fresh in his mind his first instinct was to simply flee. Even though he'd thought it, his body would not move, part curiosity, part determination. Just what would she do.
"Domo not understand. Not know why upset... pwease let fix. Domo try, yes?" Against better judgment he had to speak, to state his case. Maybe then she'd listen and give him answers for their bittersweet meeting before.

The boy’s guardian appeared to be allowing the frei to roam around the graveyard on his own and Vyn was pleased by that fact. Last time they had met their guardians had intervened when she had launched herself at him, weeping and howling for explanations. Now she was certainly more composed – in fact the effects of the virus amplifying her wild rose traits were almost perfect for this chance meeting, now she could form a steely composure and not lose her sanity when she was confronted with the Gage lookalike. However, no matter how strong her mental state was the sight of the familiar face did draw the tiniest of frowns as the other raevan got closer. He was identical in everything except colour... But she would not drop her invincible facade. Her emotional roots were firmly planted now and she kept stolidly indifferent as Gage’s usually mild mouth opened and uttered a childish demand for an explanation.
“Domo...” She paused slightly after his name. Accompanied with the frei’s face it felt alien but she continued never the less, “I was upset last time we met.” Her ribbon swirled dangerously, the ragged edges curled into thorns whilst her rune lifted her slightly higher than him. “My friend had just died... You bear a striking resemblance to him.” She raised a hand and stretched it out, one slender finger lightly brushing the boy’s cheek. It was smooth, slightly cold (probably due to the chill autumnal air), and it did not carry any of the burning pain that a brush against Gage’s skin would’ve had. She retracted her hand and folded it in front of her, forming a placid expression.
It was hard to accept it, but there was no changing the past... “Do not worry Domo... It’s fixed.” It wasn’t fair making this new life – perhaps even a life that could be considered a second chance for Gage – suffer for the bad end that Gage had met.

Domevlo sighed he wasn't sure how she would react to him this time. His body low to the ground he was surprised when she spoke his name. Regarding her he allowed himself to rise a bit, allowing himself to become slightly hopeful that things would be okay. And as she continued to speak he listened carefully wanting to find out what it was she wanted from him. When her hand reached out to him he flinched, an instinctive action but the nervous act ebbed almost as soon as it had appeared. She wasn't attacking? Relief flooded his weary body as he rose more matching her height with every word that spilled from her lips.
Though the reason behind her actions were now explained it took a moment for Domo's mind to wrap around them. "Domo look like friend?" He repeated trying to remember if he ever saw another raevan like himself but of course he wouldn't, not if the other had died. That's what Vyn had informed him... the other raevan was gone. "Vyn friend sleep now?" He asked realizing that the other would not return and because he looked like her friend she had been upset. Was it wrong of him to want to know more? Why did he look like her friend? Was there something he should know?
"Domo not know why look like friend." He stated looking down at the ground. "Not want upset Rose-friend. Not meant to take friend face..." If apologizing for things he had no control over would help he didn't mind. In truth he was thankful to the rose Raevan for giving him a chance to understand her plight. "Domo wish friend okay. Want Vyn be happy 'gain..." He was still young and didn't understand that if Gage were here, then he would not be but perhaps it was best he were blissfully unaware of his true being. That his very soul held a close friend to the raevan in front of him. He managed a smile that did sparkle through his eyes when she assured him all was well. "Fixed now." He repeated nodding and floating slightly closer. The smile didn't seem to fade as he took her hand carefully. "Domo be friends now, Vyn make new friend with familiar face... is okay?" He asked with a hopeful glint. Maybe they could be friends nothing like she had been with Gage it was certain but a new friendship couldn't hurt.

She was glad that he seemed to understand even if it was through the childish euphemism of sleep. It would’ve been terribly awkward if she’d had to spell it out to him. Death was a concept that was difficult to grapple with even when it came up to you and smacked you in the face, trying to get your head around d it through someone else’s explanations and experiences was heinously tricky. “Yes... He’s sleeping now.” Her eyes lingered on his face, staring into his eyes that were similar to her own. Eyes were the window to the soul and she couldn’t help but hope for a glimmer of her friend to shine through, but she tore her gaze away before she could let on too much. Domelov would have to find out his heritage at some point but, with a glance at the boy’s father, it wasn’t her place to tell him – despite the fact she had been one of the worst affected by the tragedy.
To satisfy the younger frei’s desire to see her happier Vyn forced a slight smile, continuing to attempt to push all thoughts of unhappiness from her mind. The sun was really quite pleasant so long as it wasn’t glaring in her eyes... Slowly she floated back down to her normal level of elevation and closed her eyes, allowing the warming light to play over her skin. “Friends take time...” She responded, lazily opening one eye again to look at him. “But maybe after a while?” She added, before he thought she was completely blowing him off.
With a flick of her wings she drifted through the maze of gravestones and out of the half shaded patch she was standing in.

Domevlo watched her as she drifted away, his hands at his side he didn't speak. Turning briefly to look over his shoulder, Thanatos was gone but his bike was still there, perhaps wandered off for a moment. Sighing, the frei turned amber orbs on the gravestones around him. Reading off names idly in his mind he wondered what made humans so fragile that they'd die so easily. It made him wonder about the frei who's face he had stolen. What was his name? What was he like?
Drifting closer to the rose frei he peeked at her from a far enough distance. There was something about the way she was acting that warned him to keep a safe distance and allow her space. "Domo want know 'bout friend." While his request sounded demanding he was genuinely asking from a place less hostile then his usual tone. "What friend name?" Tilting his head to the side he peered at yet another tombstone and gave a sad lowering of his eyelids. This place was depressing, nothing fun to do and too many sleeping humans littered the ground that he hovered. He didn't want to be here anymore but he wanted some answers... they seemed to come from the one before "Please." He added remembering to be polite but it came out with a tone less likely to get a proper answer. Impatient.

Vyn was a patient creature, especially in this comfortable sunny area... Her soul was at ease in the cool sunshine... But she wanted to put aside Gage’s memory and let him rest in peace without having to stir up painful memories – that was why she was giving Domo a new chance and wasn’t howling at him like the last time. But whether he was consciously trying to vex her or if he really was just adamant in his curiosity his attempts to pry into his past life through her were being to make that tolerance wear thin. He was trailing after her like a puppy looking for a scrap of food dropped as a treat. But Vyn knew how to deal with begging – she had the experience of Thorn’s puppyhood to directly draw from. “Don’t persist.” She instructed, leaning on a gravestone and flicking her head back to catch his eye. Gage’s name and history would remain closely protected by her and he would have to look elsewhere if he wanted to glean more knowledge on her perished close friend.
However, those pleading amber orbs made her resolution wither somewhat... He really was clueless to what had happened. Perhaps some guidance wouldn’t go amiss. She wouldn’t tell him, but steering towards someone else who might provide him the answers he sought would be reasonable. “Ask your father...” She murmured. She stared over to where the motorbike was standing – the cowboy wasn’t there anymore but Domo could ask later. If his homing process had been anything like her own then the LAB staff would’ve interviewed and selected the perfect person for the smoothest transition; thus his warden would probably had been informed about what he was taking on.
Her heart ached all of a sudden as she observed him. It was saddening to know that all memories of her relationship with Gage had been erased after his soul had been reused. Acting on the spur of the moment she moved closer to Domo and placed a pale hand on his grey chest. “Don't you remember anything?” Her face was close to his, their identical eyes locked together as she searched him. The scent of roses hung heavy in the air... Internally she pleaded that Gage wasn’t totally lost in the boy.

Like a puppy he whimpered slightly at her request, his persistence was from a curious place but he knew it was not wanted. Slipping back slightly he looked down at the ground his eyes fixed on the wild shrubbery growing about. When she spoke again his eyes shot up watching the rose carefully, hoping there would be some information he could go off of. Anything was fine.
At the mention of his father he turned back to the bike. Thanatos had not returned. Finding this unimportant for now he quickly turned back to the rose just as her hand rested on his chest. Watching from curious eyes he didn't understand the gesture or why he's chest suddenly constricted. Tilting his head to the side he watched her while the scent of roses perfumed the air around them. For a brief moment he closed his eyes to take a gentle sniff. Opening them again she was standing there watching him with twin eyes. Did he remember? What was there to remember? His mind rumbled with thoughts but a flicker of any memory from his past self just didn't seem to awaken. If it was there, it was locked in a safe place so no one could hurt him like before.
He flinched slightly the closeness causing him to breath strangely. Suddenly the mask he wore was confining but he didn't make an attempt to remove it. Gray slender hands moved to take her own wondering why and curious why his own body was moving without his thinking. "Domo..." Shaking his head, "I.. do not remember." It was all he could afford as an answer. Staring back into her eyes he didn't know what else to say. His rune however responded with a green glow before dimming and returning to its usual color. Domevlo was none the wiser.

This sudden physical closeness between them drew a tightening in her chest. The emotions that she had kept budded up until now were blooming again and she could do little to stop them from coming into full flower due to the virus’s effects on her rationality and control. His lack of recognition was put to the wayside. She’d put herself in this position, so close to the boy who a lifetime ago could barely stand near her without hurting the both of them – physically for her and emotionally for him. It was like a weight that had been on her shoulder was being lifted, just by being close to the lead child. Then she felt his hands take hers and a surge of new feelings flooded through her. She was all of a sudden no longer in the graveyard... She was in the past, reliving memories with her green skinned companion. She wasn’t with Domo in this memory place, she was with Gage.
She pulled away slightly, clasping his hands in the space between them. Four fingers, each delicately crafted. Smooth and limber, she turned his hands over to examine every inch like she never could’ve done with his predecessor. Suddenly everything was a very tactile issue. She was moving her hands up his arms, exploring the leather tunic on his chest again. Her hands strayed to his face, caressing his cheeks tenderly, the dun grey somehow green to her reminiscing eyes. She brushed the metallic horn protruding from his forehead; it had once contained healing powers from Gage’s soul... Potent enough to quell the blistering effect of his radioactivity and thus it had been the only physical contact without pain that she had experienced with the frei in the past.
Her eyes were clouded with the mist of her memories. “Gage?” She muttered it as her hands returned to his... All the emotions that she had kept bottled up were oozing out of her almost embodied by the mist of flowery scents. Delicate yet potent at the same time... A lost romance. This encounter was acting as some sort of resolution. One had to release their feelings before they could come to peace...

The lead frei said no words watching intently with eyes that matched the rose hovering before him. He moved only when needed and shifted when prodded by delicate hands. She was small but he knew she was fierce if provoked. Why he knew this was another story left for another day. Some how every touch, every sigh sent a chill through him that was familiar and yet foreign. Domevlo could only watch in curious wonder while he became the display to her trip down memory lane. What was it like? He wondered about the past, the connection his other self had formed with this one. Was it friendship or something more?
The child like presence within him dwindled with the glowing green of his rune. It flickered slightly as hands reached out to move a strand of delicate wine tresses. Who was this female standing before him exploring his body so familiarly? "Who is Gage?" He asked softly, almost a whisper against her cheeks as he brushed his mask against the rose, perhaps a sweet kiss or a tender gesture from an old friend. Lots of questions filled his thoughts but he did not wish to ask for risk of upsetting the rose and raising her thorns. It was refreshing to see her at ease perhaps finding some peace. If his silence would allow that then he would ask nothing more of her. At least for now... "I'm sorry." He offered, for what reason was beyond his knowledge but it seemed appropriate.

Vyn curled into his form as tightly as she could, arms slipping around his slender chest and clinging as if she never intended to let go. Softly get securely fingers traced along the back of his neck, touching briefly upon the teal tubes that connected to his neck before venturing into the tufted white hair – drawing him into a close embrace. She couldn’t let this connection with Gage slip away and she turned her head gently to rest in the crook of his neck, gratefully accepting the boy’s tender actions. “He was my friend...” Her voice was soft, dreamy and her eyes half lidded were a mellow honey colour. Her ribbon swirled beneath her lazily, the firm thorn-like protrusions from earlier now nothing more than snippets of material. The rose was totally relaxed in this state of romantic recollection.
Gage had been such a huge figure in her life back when they had spoken often... She could’ve told him anything and he would’ve supported her like a true friend. Yet it hadn’t been until they didn’t see each other and she had been rehomed that it dawned on her just how affectionate she had felt towards the unicorn frei. Then when the news of his death had hit her the knowledge that such feelings could never be admitted had overwhelmed her like an all devouring darkness... But she had bottled that despair up and had placed it aside so that she could continue with her life.
Now with his familiar form close to her and his tender nature shining through in his soft graces she really felt as though it was the beat of his heart that she could feel and not some new imposter at all. Thus she was addressing her old companion now rather than the new raevan who had taken his place. “I... I...” She couldn’t express it. How could Vyn form words to describe the feelings that had overtaken her? The heat of tears was forming silently in the corner of her eyes. Oh so many poets had tried to compare love to a rose... But now that the rose was overtaken by her faded romance she could do little but draw Gage, or what she saw as Gage, closer to her like the wild rose she had once been; clinging to a gravestone.

Domevlo seemed to smile through the mask, his eyes gentle and kind. Brushing his finger against her cheek he could see the silent tears brimming in her eyes. This brought a curious furrow to his brow. "You loved him." The question came out as a statement while amber eyes glowed with warm resonance. Curling into him like that it was only nature that he would want to protect her, which he did by wrapping her in a warm comforting embrace.
The tranquility that rested with those buried in the ground seemed appropriated for this meet, as if he'd risen for just this moment from his peaceful slumber. In response to this, Domo's rune continued glowing a soft green, warming with every distant sigh that drifted from the rose before him.
Feeling a strong beat in his chest he wondered briefly what it meant but brushed it aside in favor of comforting the frei. Hands found purchase along her back rubbing lightly, delicately tracing her wings to familiarize himself with the shape of her form. Those same hands moved up her neck to her jaw, along her cheek and played daintily in her hair before delicately brushing the rose that rested there. "I ..." What did he want to say, something about this moment was tender and sweet; yet words eluded him.
Sighing softly he just hovered there, his ribbon lazily gliding along the dirt. The wind had picked up a little causing the trees to toss leaves around them but nothing seemed to disturb the tranquil peace. Brushing the back of his hand along her cheek he watched her lazily, eyes seemingly clouded by thoughts...

One blink and the tears were rolling. They moved slowly, oozing out of her squeezed lid like thick clear slugs. She pulled him closer, a slightly shudder of a sob running through her. Somehow she knew that Gage was dead and yet her delusional virus ridden mind was telling her that she was with him now, safe and comforted in his tender arms – it was undoubtedly emotionally painful for the rose. She raised her face from where she had buried it in him to gaze with sad fondness into his face. “Yes... Yes I love-“ She couldn’t finish her sentence... Him or you? The two sides of her each demanded a different response... Whilst they were arguing silently her body moved of its own whims.
Her rune brightening with a hum of magic her body rose, her neck turned slightly incline to the angle of his face, her eyelid fluttered shut and her lips grazed his mask in a light kiss. It lasted only a moment but both sides of her contorted with emotion. One side was relieved, the mounting pressure to relieve her feelings had been allowed, whilst the other opinion within her scorned the movement – condemning it for not being real... An emotionless act made up by her illness. Either way, the kiss had taken place and now she was left in a strange state of limbo.
What was she meant to do now? The rose had no idea.
A chill breeze sighed through the graveyard, ruffling the leaves on trees and tousling both of their hair... Even a few petals on her cheeks floated away on it, spinning on the gust like red butterflies... But unlike the insect they could not remain airborne and tumbled to rest on a gravestone. At the same time goose bumps pimpled the rose’s skin and the virus within her flinched deeper into her warm core. With it went the conflict... The cold temporarily brought clarity of vision. Her feelings were brought into a sharp focus, this raevan wasn’t Gage and she definitely didn’t love him.
She uncurled her fingers from where they were clinging to his frame... “Sorry Domevlo ... Gage... I... I can’t...” She murmured whilst backing away with a confused and hurt look on her face. She wasn’t angry with him – no, she couldn’t be he was probably none the wiser – but her own emotions were the problem...

He could only blink at her unspoken words, wonder where she were going with them. The awkward silence kept his mouth shut, his thoughts waring with himself -- trying to find ways to comfort the rose frei. She seemed quite fragile at this point, easily able to break down if he were to say or do anything to cause her any more heart ache. Instead he did nothing... what could he do at this point? Before he had time to truly think it over her felt her hands shift and her body move, questioning eyes blinked a few times at the strange posture until he found her lips brushing lightly against his mask. Any other time a flush of color would have drawn across his cheeks but the expression that rest there was left blank.
Domevlo had no idea how to react to his first kiss...
Even before he could say anything in response to her actions the chilled air kicked up, wind blowing leaves and dirt about them. His lead skin shivered slightly but the cool air did little to move him or the virus that remained warmed by his strange acidic blood. He only stood watching as she pushed away from him stuttering with words she could barely let spill from her lips. He didn't reach for her or force himself on her just as confused by what was transpiring between them as well. "Domevlo can never know your pain..." He whispered finally. "It takes time for the heart pain to heal. Please accept this one's deepest apology for wearing the face of a dear friend..." With the virus in full effect his speech showed the difference as he turned from the rose frei grazing slender fingers along a lone headstone. "If hating Domelvo helps relieve your heart pains then do as you will... this one will not hold it against you." The sadness shinning in his amber orbs drew on a deeper place within him. "But this one hopes you will learn to accept him as a friend in the future."
