Who: Vyn, Ethan, Ani & Blink. When: Midday. Where: Park in Gambino. Weather: Pleasant with the sun shining, yet still a brisk winter day.
Visits to the park seemed to be becoming quite a regular outing place for the businessman and frei. Since meeting Aphismet and Rivener in the park at night time the pair seemed to have discovered that the park was a place where their awkwardness seemed to fade away, not entirely, but enough so that the general silence between them was comfortable, not awkward. Normally these trips were made in the night-time, when the park was abundant with shadows - a banquet for the rose frei. But this trip was more of and experimental exploration. Ethan had been thinking of the question he'd be posed with during the adoption process: Would Vyn require light just as equally as she needed shadows? As a result he'd decided to take her to the park in the daytime for a change; it didn't seem healthy for her to be spending so much time cooped up in her room with her Japanese book and the company of no one but the aloof blue peacock.
Ethan himself also relished the chance to get outside. He'd been working from home since adopting Vyn and had been experiencing a strange pining for the lack of daylight excursions. He was dressed smartly in a coat, with an expensive scarf tied around his neck to prevent himself from catching a chill - despite the sunny weather the air was still cold and echoes of the blanket of snow that had covered most of Gaia were still present. Vyn was also dressed to keep the cold at bay, in the coat Ethan had donated to her - with wings holes cut into the back.
She bobbed along at a steady pace, a few strides back from Ethan. She squinted at the sun covered world through her amber eyes, evidently bothered by the bright light. Ethan had said he would purchase her some sunglasses after they'd left the penthouse and noticed the problem, but for now she had to put up with squinting - Ethan couldn't conjure up sunglasses on demand.
Another unfortunate event that bothered her was the lack of music. The thought of charging her MP3 had slipped from her memory last night and as a result the battery had died, leaving her floundering without anything to block out attempts at conversation from Ethan... Although so far, he seemed to be leaving her be - enjoying the usual peace and quiet of the park..
Obviously the park wasn't quite as quiet as it was after dark. But Vyn could see, though it was through slightly impaired vision, that the park was mostly empty - the swings of the playground moving only due to the wind; assumable because it was a school day and children were at school. The only people present seemed to be fellow strollers like her and her adopted father...

The air of Gambino, despite the cool chill, was still salty and fresh, acting like a slap in the face to the girl who had--for all intents and purposes--just rolled out of bed. Anita wasn't normally apt to taking Tango for a walk at such a time, it usually happened in the late afternoon just before it began getting dark (the perfect excuse to hurry back) but she was encouraged to spend a little more time outside today and get used to the scenery. Walking the dog was just a good persuasion tactic.
Tango tugged at his leash excitedly, leading the way up the sidewalk. Once he touched grass he seemed to calm down but his tail kept wagging about like it was stuck in a storm, beating against her knees as she closed the distance between them. A tree nearby was a good tethering point and Anita enticed the dog to calm himself enough to allow her tying to go interrupted. The leash was one that had a retractor button; he could go for as long as the tether allowed but if she needed to pull him back, just a single press of the button would nudge him towards her once more.
Sighing as she sat, Anita pulled her shoulder back off and dumped its contents in front of her. A thurmace full of hot chocolate, so warm against the chilled air that it steamed on its outside, a sandwich, water bottle and dish, as well as a small baggy full of kibble. A doggy picnic. Using the bag as a table, of sorts, she set herself up in the grass right beside the tree and gave Tango a little bit of food, twisting the cap off of the water bottle and preparing to pour.
The sight of Vyn and Ethan stopped that, immediately.
It was one of those... Ravens? Rave... She couldn't recall the name properly, it had been months since she'd heard of them and so much had happened since then. Summer. Now the whole thing felt surreal but she couldn't bring herself to look away. This one was very different to the one she distinctly recalled seeing at that beachh fundraiser; they were both women but the first one Anita had spotted was brown, mostly, with long hair that fluttered about almost like wings.
Only Tango approaching the two brought her out of her stupor and Anita jumped to her feet, capping the bottle and bringing it with her in the run, free hand immediately going to Tango's collar and gripping. Of course he wouldn't do anything but say hello, but people were weird about bigger dogs. Just one more thing to deal with. "I'm sorry about that, he gets excited with new... people..." she could have slapped herself, saying it that way and keeping her eyes on the dark one beside the man.
All of them, these strange creatures, seemed to be unearthly beautiful. If the women were this beautiful, what of the men?!

Usually during this time of day, Blink would be attending high school in Durem--unfortunately, normalcy had been interrupted by a massive water main leak and the subsequent cancellation of school. As a result Blink, who was not to fond of staying at the abandoned science lab of his childhood (his current residence), decided to fall back on an old habit and just wander for the day. Over the course of the morning and early afternoon he had somehow managed to come from Durem all the way to Gambino, occasionally running in to doors and almost walking off a subway platform, but arriving remarkably unscathed. It wasn't that he was fundamentally incompetent--he just occasionally forgot that methods of travel that worked the last several years, when he was without a body, could not be used anymore.
At this point in his adventure, Blink was walking through a Gambino park, breathing in the brisk cool air with a relish as his dilapidated green scarf--one of the only things that remained from his childhood--flapped behind, a sharp contrast to his messy orange hair. Peaceful and fresh, without worry. For the time being, he considered himself content.
Then, his gray eyes alighted on something that knocked him out of his reverie--he saw an girl with no legs. Instead, the body dissolved just below the.... chest into what looked like a chaotic spiral of black around a red source of light, her attire and red hair with rose circlet adding to her exotic appearance, not to mention the bat wings on her back. Only a few times before had he seen beings like this, brief glimpses during the five years, but not for this long. Not this close.
As this being and the refined man she was with encountered another walker and her dog, Blink moved into the grass to observe and get a closer look. One thing he had done his best to avoid while he was without a body was passing through others. It had made him and the others he had occasionally passed though very uncomfortable, and the view.... hadn't always been pleasant. As for standing close by and observing, he had done it all the time. He still did it.
So for now he stood by, leaning on a tree and standing in the grass, to see what he could learn.

The peace and quiet of the park was shattered as a beast charged towards Vyn.
Her dark eyes were filled with a strange terror as it raced across the grass and over to the path where she and Ethan were strolling. She'd spied this type of animal before in the park, but normally human's had them on short leashes and could control them with ease, plus this beast was twice the size of any of the creatures she'd seen being walked in the park previously.. But this beast appeared to be tied to a tree and the owner was unaware of their creature coming at Vyn. In fact the owner seemed to be too preoccupied with staring at Vyn and it was only at the last second that the woman rose to her feet and caught the animal in time to stop it from getting to the pair.
The rose frei glared at it as the woman held it's collar uttering something about him being excitable around new people. Vyn somehow did not think that was an excuse.. the creature could've mauled her in it's excitement..
Ethan on the other hand was a lot less hostile towards the dog, in fact he reached out a hand and rubbed the wolf-like animal's fur. "Full of good intentions I am sure." The businessman smiled at the woman and her dog. He'd noticed her gaze of wonder at Vyn and a small part of him was selfishly proud to be able to be associated with his hauntingly beautiful adopted daughter. However, now with the dog in close proximity he couldn't help but feel that the raevan didn't feel too happy about the dog, she had never gotten close to one as far as he was aware and he could understand why it might be intimidating - the ladies dog was rather huge.
Vyn was quite taken aback by Ethan show of courage. He'd actually touched the creature on the head?! What if the woman's hold slipped - it could bite his hand off.. If Ethan expected her to follow his lead then he would have to think again. She drifted back, her rune flaring like a rapid heartbeat - a visual display of her fear.

Observing the individuals on the path had been Blink's original intent--what actually happened was the moment he paused his mind went off on a tangent. How does that girl eat without a stomach? What is that glowing thing? How is she floating? How was she created? WHO created her? These questions and more buzzed through his head, but his mind always came back to the one about a creator. He assumed that she had been created.... and that who ever had created her had been much more skilled than his father. His father had only succeeded in creating monstrosities and oddities, nothing this.... elegant. This mysterious creator was abruptly on the top of the list of people Blink wanted to meet.
The sound of the refined man's voice snapped Blink back to his observing. He could see just fine, but he couldn't hear what was being said. If he just got a little closer....
Blink did not see the protruding tree root until it was too late. His foot snagging underneath the root, he pitched forward as his arms and legs flailed uselessly, only able to give a short yelp before he faceplanted in the dirt. Breath knocked out of him cruelly by another root that had hit him in the ribs, Blink just laid there, only a few feet away from the people he had been observing.
"Oww...."

The dog's tail wagged like a metronome, slapping against Anita's thigh as she adjusted her grip on the collar. She mouthed another apology to the rose woman--it seemed she either didn't like animals or wasn't familiar with them, especially of Tango's size--before turning back to Ethan. No words came for a short while, just a nod to his acceptance of the situation and a bright smile as the older man happily gave her dog just what he was looking for; affection.
Many questions were brewing in her mind. Anita had been present at the Lab's fundraiser the past Summer (in fact, she still had the faint scars on her back to prove it) where she had spotted three of those "Ravens", each more different than the last. A green haired woman had begun telling her of the process, that it involved magic as well as science and two ingredients, one being a soul. To capture a soul... The idea seemed preposterous but there they floated, right in front of her, and now this one, too. She was reminded of one she had seen from far off; at the time, the distance was too great for her to tell the gender of it but it had been black and red, as well, and she thought she'd seen a flash go off hear and there. Photography?
The urge to inquire how this man had managed to come about taking care of this woman was rising the more she starred. Fortunately, she realized that staring, even with a smile, could be considered rude and decided to fill it in with something.
"You're very beautiful," she offered to Vyn, a simultaneous compliment and third apology. More would have left her lips concerning the subject but a sudden thoom and grown from behind gave her a start. Easily startled, the poor girl gave a muted gasp and clung to Tango's collar so tightly her knuckles became white. Tango maneuvered himself away from Ethan while still keeping beside Anita and started at the stranger who made the odd noise, head tilted a moment, before belting out an excitably yappy bark unfitting to his size. "Stop that," she muttered, tapping him on the nose with her finger tips.
"Uh.. Sir? Are you okay over there?!" the man was just lying there, across the tree's roots, right where he had fallen. Was he unconscious? Injured?

Blink laid there for a long time, making little movement as he attempted to recover. Breath wheezing slightly, he gave a weak cough, dirt and dust puffing about his face. "I-I've been through worse," he said feebly, voice slightly muffled from still being face down. Slowly but surely he began to pick himself up, bringing his arms back and his knees under his chest, wincing when they hit the sore spot on his chest. Blink didn't think anything was broken, but he was definitely gonna have a bruise. A BIG bruise. Instead of standing all the way up, he ended up resting on his knees, taking deep breaths as he took a damage report. Feeling something dripping over his lips and down his chin, he dabbed the back of his hand to the stream. Blink saw what he had expected--blood mixed with the dirt that had gotten on his face. A nice bloody nose to go along with his bruise. Lovely.
Fortunately, the bruise and the bloody nose turned out to be the worst of it, minor cuts, bumps, and scrapes being the only other injuries he had. His shirt and jeans were a bit beaten up, but nothing that a good wash couldn't fix. As for his green scarf, it was fine. It had been too worn out in the first place for there to be any noticeable difference. Finally coming to his feet, Blink wobbled slightly in his stance, ending up leaning into a tree for support. There was long pause of silence when he finally remembered himself and that yes, they did know he was there. "I'm sorry for causing a disturbance," he stated awkwardly, not bothering to go on, since he didn't really know what else to say.

The dog's reaction to the new arrival really set Vyn on edge and she jerked backwards, rune flaring and her hands curled into fists. Who was this strange new person that'd flung himself at the gathering?! First the viscous barking beast, now this! The park during daylight hours was certain throwing more unexpected and startling things at them than it ever did during the night-time. However, upon seeing that the newcomer was just a boy who must've taken a stumble - human's legs had that problem attached to them, floating was much easier due to the lack of falls. In fact, the boy seemed hurt. Blood oozed out of his nose and he seemed to be rather battered by his fall. She looked to Ethan to see what to do. Should they offer help? She understood enough about the human anatomy to know that blood was generally a bad thing.
The businessman frowned. What was the boy doing? Lurking around the park watching them was one thing, but throwing himself at their feet was a totally different kettle of fish. People reacted to Vyn in different ways when they were out and about together; most stared with shock, some were enthralled ((the dog walker seemed to fit into this category as she commented on Vyn's beauty)) and some seemed to avoid her like the plague - terrified of her unusual lack of anything bust down and bizarre eyes. But never before had someone leaped at them. Then again, he could've indeed taken a stumble whilst looking at Vyn and so Ethan didn't demand an outright explanation, but he did keep his sceptical gaze on the lad.
"No need to apologise. But what exactly where you doing?"

"I'm sorry for causing a disturbance."
Anita's face scrunched up in confusion; What had he been doing there? Watching? Eavesdropping? Not that the conversation was particularly important but that was pretty rude if it was the case. She didn't want to jump to conclusions, though. It was entirely possible he was just walking on by, saw the "Raven" and was caught off guard staring so he didn't watch where he was going.
It nearly happened to her, so why not him?
She corrected herself when the man, the rose woman's caretaker it seemed, asked exactly what Anita was trying to figure out and she was grateful. Now she wouldn't look like she was staring the orange haired boy down. Truly, if she hadn't fixed her expression, she would have appeared indignant and just as rude as the eavesdropping she was assuming. Assumptions make an a** out of you, stop it.
Telling Tango to keep put, she loosened his lead slightly while approaching the boy. The dog did as he was told and kept close to Ethan and Vyn, panting excitedly while watching the newcomer. "Did you hurt yourself?" It looked like it but she had encountered people who would consider a bloody nose or such not something to worry about. In fact, she was usually one of these types but only when it came to herself.

When Blink heard the pointed question from the business man, his ears began to redden, a discoloration that rapidly spread to his face. You idiot, you REALLY need stop doing these things.... He was pinned, and the only way out seemed to be a partial truth. "I.... I fell back onto a bad habit," he said, shrinking into his shoulders while casting down his eyes.. "When I was younger"--he didn't mention how much younger--"I would observe others when I didn't have anything else to do"--something that happened more than he had liked--"....which included occasional eavesdropping. When I saw you and your dark companion, I-I was curious, and wanted to learn more. "Originally, I just watched, but then the idiot in me decided to go and eavesdrop too. When I faceplanted in the dirt because I was trying to get closer, I deserved it," giving a grimace as he finished, one hand on his bruised ribs, the other dabbing at his bloody nose.
Blink then registered the second question posed to him. Continuing to dab at his bloody nose, he said, "I have some bumps and bruises, but it will pass." His train of thought was interrupted when he felt something jab into his foot. Looking down, he gave blink of dismay when he saw the only thing on his foot was a sock that was rapidly being ingrained with dirt. Turning his head around, the missing shoe was found to be trapped under the tree root that had tripped him. Face growing even redder, Blink trudged over and retrieved his shoe, deciding to keep a hold of it in his until he could get the dirt out of his sock.
Another awkward moment was spawned when Blink returned to where the others were. "I.... I can go ahead and leave if you want me to," he said after a few moments. He hesitated on whether to say the rest of what he wanted, since he was unsure if it would be rude, but finally saying it in the end. "Would it be okay if I learned your names? I feel my apology would be more sincere if I knew who you were...." It was a flimsy reason to be asking for a name, but it was something that he wished to know, even if everything else ended up going to the crapper.
