Who: Xan, Domevlo, Ethan & Vyn
When: Late morning
Where: Durem, in town shopping/sight seeing
Weather: Overcast skies, mildly warm
What: Teaching Domo about the world through trial and error.

"What that?" The curious question slipped from the young frei's mouth for the umpteenth time that day. Thanatos had grown used to the young frei's need for information over the short time they had been together. After his pick up he'd done the same thing on their way home, pointing at this and that or floating nearer to take a most interested 'poke' at whatever it was that caught his attention. Even as they walked the streets of Durem to get a little fresh air, Domevlo couldn't stop himself from pulling the silky tresses of a young woman. "Soft."

Imagine Xan's surprise when he turned his head to hear a woman shrieking at having her hair pulled by a strange creature. Rushing over, Thanatos was quick to fix the situation. "My apologies ma'am, he doesn't understand much right now. Please forgive me." Tipping his hat lower to hide the embarrassing flush of his face he watched the woman give a soft smile turning weary eyes to Domevlo before moving onward. "Domevlo!" The frei glared at the lady but turned amber eyes upon his guardian. "My name!" He reinforced still unable to pronounce it just yet. "That wasn't very polite. You can't pull on people's hair."

Well that was just stupid. How else was he supposed to feel it if he couldn't touch. "Hair, soft." He announced defiantly while pointing at the retreating woman. "Touch hair, learn soft." Xan sighed patting the lead frei upon his white head. "I understand but if you really want to touch someone's hair then I suppose you can play with mine for now. We don't know these people so touching on them might be upsetting." The frei arched a brow then reached up with a hidden grin to pull at Xan's hair. "Soft."

"Oowww... Domevlo that hurts.. don't pull please!" Xan exclaimed, trying to remove the vice like grip his charge had on him. "Say can touch. Domeh'lo touch, hair soft." Well there wasn't much he could do now, Xan thought, he did offer his own hair. "Okay, it's soft but I can't lean like this it's really uncomfortable. Can you let go of my hair please?" The frei seemed to think about this but let go only to snatch at the cowboy's Steston. "Take this, k?"

"Fine, ya can have the hat." Xan offered putting it on the frei's head. "There looks good on ya. Now lets get going."

Quite some time had passed since the events of the night when Gage had ‘died’, leaving Vyn as an emotional wreck and consequently sending her powers into yet another frenzy to ‘protect’ her. (Though there had been no physical enemy to fight – just her own emotions.) Over the few weeks the frei had become a lot stronger in regards to the tragedy she’d put herself through; she’d started eating regularly again, her sleeping habits had become normal once more and even some good had come out of the situation! The shadowy girl actually, on occasion, spoke to Ethan out of choice rather than being forced and awkward - somehow the incident had allowed the raevan to trust her guardian just enough to bring them close enough to talk without serious social pain. However, this was the first time since then that she’d left the safe comfort of the penthouse (except the visit to Alex’s to seek help) and as people bustled around her in the midst of the Durem shopping centre she couldn’t help but feel a little nervous.

Regardless of this nervousness she did seem to be coping quite well. She was not begrudgingly at Ethan’s side, hiding in his shadow to avoid the weird looks, but was instead floating just ahead – chin up and acting as strong as she could. A new resilient streak had been unearthed and she seemed determined to show to her guardian that she could deal with it just fine. Ethan was of course looking on with both pride, for her outstanding achievement after bouncing back from the wreck she’d been, and worry, for he knew that if something went wrong is could go horribly wrong.

Unfortunately the worries of the businessman would be confirmed as a shriek issued from nearby, drawing the attention of a fair few bystanders – including Vyn. Puzzled black sclera’d eyes searched out the source of the commotion and when they did they stared transfixed – as if the frei had seen a ghost. Noticing this sudden change in Vyn Ethan instantly tensed, what could steal her attention like that? His grey eyes followed the gaze of hers and he met the origin of the woman’s scream that had originally attracted the rose’s attention. It turned out that the phrase ‘as if she’d seen a ghost’ wasn’t too far from the truth.

Tugging on the hair of a woman with a man prying him away was another raevan. His hair was a pure white and the vast majority of his face was hidden by a mask. Normally Ethan would not be so worried by the presence of another of the unique creatures, but the expression that was creeping onto his charge’s face (a mixture of pain, anguish and utter confusion) ruffled his feathers enough to prompt him into catching up with Vyn and asking; “Vyn? Are you ok? Do you know him?"

Apparently this was the wrong question to ask as it was met by a glowering scowl from Vyn who promptly floated in the direction of the monochrome frei, who had released the woman and had taken his guardian’s hat instead. The impending trouble stirring fretfulness in Ethan he trotted after Vyn who was moving with surprising speed across the small distance. Before he could reword his request for an explanation Vyn had reached the hat wearing raevan.

Gage!?

The hat wearing frei was in his own world, content to keep his guardian's beloved Stetson for how ever long the man would allow. This was his fault for not letting the monochrome frei play with his hair. He needed to touch things in order to understand their texture. That was it. As the two walked along, the unexpected appearance of yet another Raevan caught Xan off guard. He had learned early that there were others like Domevlo and that it was most likely that they'd run into a few on occasion. Today was one of those days.

Mint eyes scanned the rose frei curiously, she was for lack of anything else he could think to say, dark and mysteriously gorgeous. "So beautiful..." Xan let out not quite certain of how to express himself properly. He wasn't used to Domevlo let alone any of the others that were floating about. However his lack of approach was instantly interrupted by a blur of monochrome that went in at full speed. "Like me!" He bellowed out reaching for the rose Frei's red tresses.

"Ah... Domevlo don't!" Xan reacted quickly snatching the lead frei's hand before he could attach himself to the other. It was at this time he noticed Ethan standing by. "My apologies... " he began but stopped short as his attention finally caught up to the stricken look on the female Raevan's face. "Miss? Is something wrong?" He inquired.

"Yes... what wrong?" Domevlo chimed in a crease in his brow the only indication that he too was concerned. Though he was curious why she kept staring at him. "Lady. Stare." He pointed out tilting his head curiously at this.

Vyn had to practically contain a hiss of fury as the imposter-Gage lurched for her hair; once familiar green hands now grey and clutching rather than cautious. Instantly any hope that this alternately coloured raevan was actually Gage dissipated: Gage would never had been so inconsiderate! He’d always kept his plant killing touch to himself and as far away from her delicate skin as possible. This imposter obviously was not as kind as the real Gage and his damaging touch had come close to her face! Vyn’s eyes quickly lost their sheen of desperate sadness and instead glowed with anger and confusion; demanding an explanation from the frei. However, the smarting brand that she had so nearly received was enough to make her wince through her accusing glare.

Ethan, on hearing the name that Vyn had exclaimed, tensed totally, hackles instantly raised. Gage, the raevan who’s death had sent Vyn spiralling into a depression so deep that her powers had deemed it equally dangerous as a group of violent drunks. Yet apparently the boy wasn’t dead. Here he was, floating in front of them – a cowboy hat perched jauntily upon his head. He sucked in his breath as he tried to gauge Vyn’s reaction. Right now she seemed furious rather than sad or welcoming, which confused Ethan... Surely she would be glad to find out that the whole ‘death’ had been some sort of terrible blunder. However, it seemed as though neither the frei nor the guardian had reacted to the shadow’s outburst and Ethan hastily straightened his tie and looked to Vyn, hoping she would provide the explanation that both he and the other guardian wanted to hear.

She ignored the boy’s comment regarding her stare but became further aggravated as he wasn’t speaking like her old friend either. It was almost as if he were a new born – like Varun or someone – Gage had been adept in speech and had formed his sentences with ease. “You’re not Gage.” Vyn stated tersely. “But why do you look like him?

Ethan was taken aback by the ferocity in Vyn and put a hand on one of her arms, surprised to find that she had all of her muscled tensed and her hands balled into fists. “Perhaps we should let them explain themselves first?” He suggested, hoping that the red head would not continue acting like this – worsening the situation further.

The rose turned a killer eye to her guardian, giving him a look that he’d never thought she could muster. “I want him to answer the question.” Her voice waved slightly as she spoke, obviously her emotions were stoked red hot by the presence of this Gage lookalike... Sighing, Ethan turned to the other man (who bizzarely looked as if he’d just stepped out of a wild-west movie). “Well... Can you offer an explanation for why he might look like Vyn’s...” He paused, not knowing whether or not to say it, but deciding to anyway, just to help spell out the severity of the situation. “...Recently deceased friend?

Xan was able to pick up on the signs quicker than his charge noting Vyn's obvious displeasure. Even with an apology he didn't think Domevlo deserved such a harsh reaction. Still there had to be something underlining her distress, the way she was tense, the balled fists. Her demands to know of his origins. This somehow blind sided the guardian as he stepped in front of his charge to better protect the young frei from accusations that were not of his doing.

For starters twho was this Gage person? He had not thought to ask Alex upon receiving guardianship when Domevlo was picked up. In fact, he didn't ask much. Xan was not the kind of man to go too deep into detail about things he didn't understand prefering to learn as he went. Somehow this was a poor decision on his part. Sighing he removed his hat from Domelvo's head placing it back on his own. With a tip of his head he began to speak. "Perhaps if we start from the beginning. I don't know who Gage is." Xan spoke. "I was never aware of such a person." Mint eyes turning the older man he gave a curt nod of respect. "In all honesty, sir, I don't know why Domevlo may look like this person... maybe it was a careless decision on my part but I preferred not to ask question at the time of his pick-up." Again he felt this was turning out to be the worst case scenario.

But honestly was it his fault that Domo held a likeness to an old friend? If so, would the others he encountered shun him for having similar features? If Domevlo were not going to be accepted for that fact alone, Xan would certainly disapprove. This was most upsetting. He could not approve of Domo's discrimination for something out of his control. "Truth being, I was informed that Domevlo was made of two distinct substances. Unstable Lead but I was never given information on the other substance. Perhaps for whatever reason, it was better left unsaid. And judging by the young lady's reaction I think it is for the best."

Anxiously Ethan attempted to smooth down the rough edges that the situation was quickly acquiring. The last thing he wanted to happen was a shouting match between Vyn and this mysterious unfortunate. Luckily, the other guardian seemed to mirror this outlook and Ethan hoped that he could talk reasonably with the other man to construct some sort of truce. Vyn on the other hand still seemed to be fighting back the urge to go at the youth, Domelov, with all guns blazing. “Vyn... Don’t be so hasty.” He spoke calmly and assuredly, attempting to tackle the situation as if it were a simple squabble between his staff rather than his adopted ‘fantasy’ child and a stranger. Listening to the man’s responses, the businessman felt a pang of sympathy; it really did seem as though the other had no clue as to why his charge- presumably freshly created , judging by the speech and nature of the frei – looked like Gage. “I’m sorry for the trouble. If you really have no clue as to why he looks so similar... Perhaps it is a question you might have to ask the LAB. Vyn, you’re sorry too. Aren’t you?

The rose looked at her guardian with contempt. How could he dismiss the issue so easily!? This person looked identical, apart from the colouration, to her dead friend. It was not something that should be palmed off like it was a trivial matter and as for apologising... The old man would have to think again. Invigorated with her new found stubborn fury she crossed her arms in a defiant manner. “No. He must know something. I want to talk to him. No interruptions.” She stated, eyes locked on the similar black scleras of the offending raevan. Even if it was true that the boy had no understanding of his uncanny similarity, the shadow still felt the desire to quiz him. It was possible that the boy was a shape shifting raevan of some description and had by accidentally seen an image of Gage soon after his birth and had adopted his shape. Other possible explanations rocketed through her mind and almost made her dizzy. She wanted an answer and rather than faff around through his guardian, who seemed intent only on protecting Domelov, she wanted the information from the horse’s mouth.

Mouth hanging slightly open in shock at the willpower that Vyn had summoned Ethan blinked at the other man... “Uh, well... Would that be ok?” Something in his gut told him that if he did not back up the girl then all the trust he’d gained through helping her through her rocky patch would slip quickly and dramatically through his hands. “We could look on, to ensure that they do not fight...” This was a situation he wasn’t used to. All the cards were in favour of Vyn getting her way and he didn’t want to see what would happen if she wasn’t allowed a conversation with the boy... Right now the word ‘tantrum’ didn’t even begin to describe the scale of upset that he predicted.

Xan had been about to speak on his charge's behalf. He could understand her distress but it still didn't justify this kind of reaction, not when the young frei was for lack of a better term, a newborn. Instead, his charge managed to slip past his protective wall and moved in with a quick hand. "Soft." He had found the rose Raevan's hair but did not pull on it hard like he'd done with the woman or his guardian. Only touching it with a strange caress. "Domeh'lo, not no." He said in response to her many inquires. He had been listening trying his hardest to keep up with the conversation but it had gone on over his head long enough, almost like he wasn't there. This he could not approve. Domevlo would learn! He would know things and he would be in charge of them.

For now he could only do what he could. Gage. This was the name of someone the girl knew. He had understood but then he had lost the conversation somewhere around his own likeness to this... "Gage?" He spoke the name removing his hand. "Domeh'lo look like?" He questioned her but then looked to his guardian for answers, the platinum haired man shook his head unable to answer. Domevlo's attention returned to the rose Raevan with an almost apologetic expression, but as soon as it washed over him it was replaced with a frown of annoyance. "Don't know. Gage not here. Domeh'lo is Domeh'lo!!! Not Gage! Find Gage, we talk!" It was obvious the lead frei did not quite understand that this Gage person was no longer living. From his understanding if he could talk to this other person, see him for himself then the rose frei would not turn such eyes upon him. He did not like her eyes! The way she looked down on him, he did not like them! "No look! Bad eyes! HATE EYES!"

By this time Xan reached out to hold the frei along his shoulders pushing him back a safe distance. "Enough." He spoke trying to calm the boy. "We won't have any of that." Turning to address both Vyn and Ethan he gave a curt nod. "I'm sorry but this ain't gonna fix nothin'. I'll need to talk with the staff and find out more but all I can offer is that Domevlo is not the Gage you may have known. I really am sorry for your loss ma'am, truly but is it fair to condemn Domevlo simply for his appearance? If he has anything to do with Gage, should he not be given a second chance?" He sighed turning to his charge trying to usher the boy away. Before he could Domevlo turned back around to look sadly at the rose frei. "It's okay. We'll find out what's going on... let's go kiddo."

Before she could flinch away again, Domelov’s hand touched her hair, stroking the soft tresses with a strange gentleness compared to the lurching grasp he’d attempted earlier. The rose expected a crackle and the scent of singeing hair as his radioactive touch maimed her, but to her surprise there was no such thing; Just a slight tug on a few of the wine-red strands. This revelation silenced her and left her rather shocked, quietened enough to allow the boy to rant and rave about Gage. Her boiling anger gushed out of her almost as quickly as it had arisen... His touch was the final straw. Without that one nature remaining all hope that Domelov had any clue about Gage collapsed. She felt ridiculous for her quizzing and a scarlet blush rose on her pale cheeks as he shouted at her. “Sorry.” She muttered, looking down with shame. Domelov’s guardian had a point. It was unfair of her to take out her sorrow upon his new charge. Vyn winced as he emotions continued their tumultuous rollercoaster ride – dipping further down from anger into despair... “I’m... I... Sorry...” She gasped, through tears rapidly welling in her eyes.

Swooping in Ethan placed a supporting hand on the femme’s shivering back. The blow to her nearly recovered emotions made him slightly irate. How could such a brief meeting shake her up so badly? One second fuming the next sobbing. However, he didn’t direct his anger at the cause of her upset... That would do no good, especially since Domelov seemed equally upset as he yelped about Vyn’s eyes. The cowboy guardian had the right idea – best to retreat for now and return to sort out the issue when both parties had found out more. “Yes... Come on Vyn... We’ve leave them be.” He sighed, steering his crying girl away from the scene.

However, before the left totally he turned to press a business card into the offending raevan’s hand, alongside a whispered; “When you and you carer understand more... Ring me.” After that they continued on their way. Vyn only looked back once to see through bleary teary eyes yet all she saw was a white ghost amongst the crowd...
