Xiu & Hazeline
Vyn and Ethan
Lazarus
Hazeline could not believe it. A week in the forest and this is what you get after returning to civilization?
You have ten missed calls
You have one voice mail
The ten missed calls were worrisome enough but the troubling piece of information had been from the voicemail. It sounded like Dr. Kyou from the Lab and apparently Xiu was hurt. The Doctor seemed distracted and this only served to make Hazeline even more worried. Hazeline had then checked her missed calls and found that they were from three different sources. Mainly home, the Lab (taken care of by the voicemail) and strangely…Ethan’s number. Perhaps Vyn knew about what had happened to Xiu…?
Dialing the number, Hazeline waited as the phone rang and when the call got through…
…
Half an hour later Hazeline’s car found itself parked in one of the many parking lots that could be found in front of the Lab with the panicked guardian hurrying up to the Lab’s entrance. The conversation with Vyn had been rather disturbing. The rose raevan had wanted to know if Xiu was alright and after further promptings by Hazeline, the raevan had mentioned something about Xiu talking to something invisible at the temple and oddly enough…about…ghosts?
Suitably distressed over this piece of information, Hazeline had been glad when Ethan took over the phone and after another brief talk, it was agreed upon that the two raevan owners would be meeting at the Lab. Ethan, because the dear old man and his raevan was worried about Xiu and Hazeline because she was the white Raevan’s guardian… oh, and that she was also worried sick about the Pi Yao.
“Sorry I’m late!” said Hazeline the minute her eyes found the human and raevan she had agreed to meet. “A car broke down in the middle of the street…,”

Finally she had received a response from Hazeline. Finally she might be getting some answers!
Vyn’s heart was beating rapidly as she floated down the streets. Her leathery wings were aiding in propelling her and she was weaving through the people dangerously. Some cursed her as the red tip of one of her wings caught on their clothing and left a rip but she couldn’t care less and powered on. Hazeline had told her to meet at the LAB and she would not stop until she got there. Last time she had spoken to Xiu he had been worried about something that was stalking his young guardian – he had spoken to invisible beings! She had been worried ever since he had left her at the penthouse...
Eventually the gnawing fret had become too much and she’d picked up the phone and called Hazeline. Xiu had tried contacting her and had apparently failed, Vyn was also met with little success but she had persisted. This morning she had got a call back and here she was! Racing through the streets of Gambino her shadowy mind toiling over all the imagined dreadful situations that Xiu could’ve fallen into! Turning one last corner she saw the white exterior of the LAB and slowed down...
Her rune was pulsing rapidly, mimicking her half-heart’s beat and her breath was coming in shallow gulps. However, Hazeline wasn’t there yet... And neither was Ethan. He had assured her that he would be out of his conference in time to make it to the LAB. Distressed the girl slumped into a seat in reception and gazed out of the glass doors with wide black eyes. Fortunately she did not remain alone for long – Ethan’s car pulled up and he exited it, moving swiftly into the reception area.
‘Standing up’ Vyn met him. “Is she here yet?” He asked, looking over his ward whose breathing had returned to normal.. Receiving a negative answer they both sat down again... Nerves taught await Hazeline’s entrance. Thus when she did come through the doors they both leapt up, greeting her with strained expressions.
“Not a problem...” Ethan replied, his brows furrowed. “Have you heard anything from the Doctor?”

“Only that Xiu’s hurt and is in here,” replied Hazeline, breathless from her short sprint from the car. “I- The message was short and…ummm…sounded serious…,” admitted Hazeline uneasily; guilt threatening to overcome her again. Rubbing her temples, Hazeline shook her head. “If…I had known I would never have left for that darn meeting...,”
Looking from the rose frei to the elderly gentlemen, Hazeline straightened up. It simply would not do to break before Vyn who looked worried enough as it is. That’s what…older people were supposed to do right? They were supposed to be…strong…
“B-But now that we are all here, lets go see Xiu alright?” said Hazeline with an exaggerated show of fist raising and pumping. “The Doctor mentioned that he was in kept in Dr. Tsu's office...,"
Thus saying so, the young woman brought Vyn and Ethan into a quick trot as they made their way to the office. Usually she would have waited around for a staff but this was an exception. Reaching the office, Hazeline gave the door a couple of soft knocks, wondering if she should risk opening it herself but her hand was reluctant. What if...Xiu was badly hurt? Would she...dare see him?

A few seconds had passed before a gentle click could be heard from the closed door. The person beyond the opened door was none other than Lazarus, who had been accompanying Xiu all the while. Crimson red eyes looked at the group of people in front of the door in mild surprise, Hazeline he had expected, but Vyn and Ethan as well? That was definitely unexpected. From the rose Frei's worried expression, he could tell that she is a dear friend to Xiu's, and that she cared for him greatly, close friend perhaps? Lazarus doesn't know why, but he felt a small pang of jealousy at the idea.
"Hazeline, Vyn and Ethan." He nodded at each of them as he opened the door wider for them to enter, trying to not take heed of his unusual emotions. "I assume you came to see Xiu..?" They were in luck as well, Xiu's fever had pretty much resided and he just woke up from his sleep not very long ago. The firey Sigel just finished changing his bandages. "He's over there by the examination bed." He said, pointing at the makeshift bed at the other end of the room.
As they entered, Lazarus felt like he should leave, giving some privacy to Hazeline and the guests. "I guess, I should give you some room to talk. I will be in the cafeteria just opposite the hall if you need me." And with a small courteous smile, he exited the room, closing the door gently behind him.

Lazarus’ quiet and polite appearance both worried and soothed the rose. If the demon had come out at full pelt with an uncollected and scared manner she would’ve been plunged into the depths of worry for her white friend.. On the other hand there was a sense of quiet respect about the red haired sigel that made the whole situation feel morbidly serious.. Thus it was with tentative curiosity and nervousness that Vyn entered the room with. Ethan followed nearby. He was nowhere near as drastically concerned as Vyn – his experiences of the LAB had taught him being here at the LAB was the safest and best place for a raevan – but he simply had a stifling air of seriousness. Xiu was his favourite male raevan... But he knew the Doctor would be doing his very best. As Lazarus passed Ethan muttered; "Thank you Lazarus..."
Once inside the room Vyn floated off to the side, allowing Hazeline to go straight to her ward’s side. She was only here because Hazeline had invited her and she was sure that the worried mother figure of the oriental boy would be hideously concerned. From her slightly distant position she could see Xiu lying on his makeshift bed... He looked tired and worn out. Far away from the vibrant and intelligent youth Vyn was used to. The shadows mind raced over the facts she already knew with confusion. Xiu had been plagued by some invisible malignant force; he had sought help from invisible old men... He had been worried enough to share his troubles with Vyn and ever since she’d been fretting...
She wanted answers... But she could wait a little longer. Wait until Hazeline had gleaned her own answers.

Xiu watched the whole scene being played out before him in silence as Lazarus opened the door and ushered his guests in before he himself taking leave of the group. Shifting a little so that he appeared to be sitting straighter in bed, Xiu turned to look at the worried face of his guardian. Giving her a small smile, Xiu folded his wings and gave Vyn and Ethan a polite wave too. It was touching to see them here in this room but the white Sigel was suddenly sheepish. How would they take to his new growth?
This question was soon answered:-
“Where are you hurt, Xiu? What happened?” said Hazeline, sliding into a motherly mode she never thought she had. “Let me take a look. Maybe I could get some of that healing ointment mother swears by…. we were so worried! I came as fast as I could but Vyn and Ethan, they were here before me. What did you do, you silly raevan? Just what did you-,”
There was a stunned silence as Hazeline, in her flustered state, pulled the blanket aside to reveal…a newly formed torso. Xiu could only watch in apologetic silence as his guardian slid into a new level of hysterics.
“What in the world?! Xiu?! You…it’s impossible! How?!” stammered Hazeline in a kind of silent shocked denial. Stepping back so that Ethan and Vyn might have a look, Hazeline rubbed her temples with a thumb and forefinger. “Alright…alright…let’s be calm about this; Xiu…this…you…argh! The Lab said nothing about this! You have such a lot of explaining to do! Starting with…how you grew and… how you got hurt!”
Actually…I think…I got hurt first then…I grew
This was written neatly on a clipboard and held by the white Sigel while he waited for his guardian to calm down. Turning to look at Vyn and Ethan, Xiu offered the two of them an uncertain smile. How would they react to his growth then?
