Who: Vyn, Ethan, Lucia and Yuurei. When: Nearing midday. Where: Clothes shop in down town Durem. Weather: Fresh and bright outside.
Clothing seemed to be a bizarre issue when it came to raevans. The fact that often their clothes became the swirling ribbon beneath them, resulted in them not being able to remove the clothing with ease, meaning that as interesting as those clothes may be - they could soon get rather bland from over exposure.. To counter this inability to remove main clothing other measures to spice up a raevans looks presumably had to be taken. Accessories could be changed, new bits of jewellery added - a lot could be done with a little and when you could afford to buy all the accessories a girl could want it certainly meant that you could widen your wardrobe. Ethan was, of course, willing to shell out money to provide for some interesting objects of clothing that took Vyn's fancy and so the pair now stood in a clothes store in Durem the usual silence hanging heavily between them.
The man was slightly lost for words. Fashion wasn't his forte. Although he dressed neatly, with expensive designer suits, he knew nothing about fashion for youths and as Vyn drifted through rails of different clothes he aimlessly trailed - for once out of his comfort zone. He'd hoped to have found some help in a shop assistant, he'd even caught the eye of one when they'd entered. But at the sight of Vyn with her peculiar slightly frightening appearance the girl had slunk off, pretending that she hadn't noticed Ethan's summoning eyes.
He touched a baggy blue jumper on a hanger and inspected it, scrunching his eyes slightly to try and imagine if it would fit on Vyn. "What do you think of this?" He inquired, holding it out for Vyn to examine.
The frei looked at it, frowning with an incredulous look in her amber and black eyes. The jumper was duck egg blue, shapeless, with a big brand lable on it's front. Quite frankly, Vyn would've rather died than wear it.. Without commenting she swivelled back round and continued her drifting, hoping that something would spare her from more of Ethan's rather awful suggestions. Rather let down that she'd turned her nose up at his suggestion Ethan put the jumper back and shuffled after her; eyes alert for something that might suit her tastes..

”Of course I’m sure you can’t get another piercing! I didn’t want you to get the ones you got before!” Yuurei closed her eyes and sighed exasperatedly. Taking Lucia out to get something new was always a chore. If it wasn’t a piercing, it was a new toy (like the laptop that cost her $2500). If it wasn’t a toy, it was some sort of thing that wouldn’t even help Lucia -- but would only go to help the dead people Yuurei couldn’t even see! The high-heeled blonde opened her eyes and looked at where they were in downtown Durem. There was a clothing shop . . . Maybe they could get Lucia something to wear. ”If not a new piercing, would you like to get some clothing?” She looked over at the dark haired raevan and smiled brightly, her eyes examining her hair clip, the bell collar, gloves, bra top and. . . Her eyes stopped as she realized that Lucia was only a raevan, and not a shopping partner with whom she could try on clothes, compliment (and get compliments from), giggle, and gossip.
The kitten’s purple eyes brightened at the suggestion. Clothes! The dark frei glanced around at the nearby stores and flew towards the most posh looking one. “I can get some cool accessories! Or maybe even a shirt or a coat!” Lucia began to look around at the various pieces of clothing by the front door that were designed to fit the upper body. The frei’s eyes darted from nice item to nice item (ignoring anything unsightly). She paused at a mannequin sporting a pair of ripped black jeans with fishnets underneath and a slashed up t-shirt. The sales people put bracelets around the wrists and necklaces around the neck of the mannequin and Lucia’s eyes suddenly stopped darting all over the place. The shiny black beads and silver chains of the necklace caught her eye immediately. The whole outfit had a certain look to it that Lucia adored, but the necklace was beautiful.
Yuurei smiled as Lucia stopped in front of the display, staring at the outfit that seemed to fit her style. ”It’s definitely you. But I don’t know how you’d wear the pants, let alone the fishnets,” she laughed softly at the joke as the raevan rolled her eyes and reached up to finger the necklace. Amber eyes looked around the room, looking for any clothing she liked, while people-watching at the same time. As the belt buckle on Lucia’s ribbon tinked against the floor, Yuurei saw a girl floating between racks and tables of clothing. The crimson-haired girl had a long dark ribbon for a lower half, just like Lucia. ”Is that another raevan?” she asked herself out loud.
Lucia away from the coveted necklace and examined everyone visible. The midday lunch crowds were beginning to show up and the cat frei couldn’t be sure whom the blonde had been referring to. ”Where’d she go?” Following the general direction that Yuurei walked in, Lucia tried to both lead and follow (unsuccessfully) and, trying to look around the legged bodies of strangers, wasn’t paying attention to where she was going. ”Ooof!” she moaned softly, looking over to glare at the thing that disrupted her search. Glancing up, she stared right into the eyes of an old guy in a suit and, ignoring him, at the raevan he seemed to be with. ”Sorry -- I guess --” she said dismissively to Ethan as Yuurei raised her eyebrows and looked at the commotion. She called out to Vyn, ”And hey, are you a raevan too?”

The section of the shop that they were in really didn't appeal to Vyn.. Further monstrosities were fished out of the racks by Ethan. A neon pink t-shirt with a lipstick logo on the front ((a sigh from Vyn)), an Alice-band which was made to look like a tiara ((rolled eyes)), some bracelets that were pastel blue with jangling charms in the shape of handbags, high heels and such ((a frown and a huff)). Worst of all his half-brained suggestions was a bag. Fresh green with cartoon animals stitched into it, smiling out at Vyn with strangely disturbing grins ((To this the raevan showed her repulsion in a groan before floating as fast as she could away from her guardian's idiotic suggestion)). Now firmly irritated at the whole outing Vyn had crossed her arms and was looking sullen as she glided through the clothes, starting to pick her way towards the shop's exit - anything to prevent the embarrassment and annoyance caused by Ethan.
However, a display that she must've missed on the way in caught her attention. A mannequin with a gorgeous pair of ripped jeans and fishnets - the rose raevan skimmed over these, obviously they were pointless to even consider. The t-shirt, slashed up yet still aesthetically pleasing made Vyn smile but it was the necklace glimmering like the ultimate prize under the store's lights that really held her gaze. However before she could get to it someone else had begun to examine it... Disheartened she allowed her guardian to catch up. At least she knew there were some things that were suited to her style. It was just a case of finding them.
As Ethan and the girl tramped through the shop someone seemed to call out to them. Ethan was bumped into, slightly satisfying to the frei, and Vyn cocked her head to see who was causing the commotion. When she saw another raevan her spirits perked up slightly and this uplift was boosted when she took in the girl's clothing. Black and lacy - similar to her own. Perhaps this other frei would take Ethan's place and actually be helpful? "Hello. I'm Vyn." She replied, floating forwards, ignoring her currently useless guardian and greeting the girl.
Ethan was rather winded from being barged into and stared perplexed at the raevan who was addressing Vyn; she had white cat ears, heavily pierced, nestled in her black locks. Her clothing was rather... raunchy... His brows knotted slightly as he watched from a distance. Evidently Vyn didn't want him around, his awful fashion sense making his confidence wilt - this shopping trip had backfired...

Yuurei looked over at the man with the red and black raevan she had seen before. ”Sorry, she kind of enjoys meeting new raevans. I’m Yuurei. Are you . . . Okay?” She smiled at the assumed guardian and brushed her blonde hair back over her shoulder. The man looked kind of stuffy. Maybe he didn’t get out much.
Lucia smiled as she took in the rose raevan’s appearance. The lace, the arm warmers, the jagged long ribbon, similar wings. ”Vyn. . . I’m Lucia!” She flapped her pierced wings and her eyes sparkled in the harsh light of the store. ”Isn’t this store awesome? I’ve never been here before.” She shook her head softly and looked at the rack of clothes next to them. Amid the bright colors and denim she saw something that she could actually wear and like. Pulling out the black half-vest that was cut off at the bottom of a human’s ribcage with a low cut round neckline, Lucia held the vest up to herself. The vest had various rips in it with lace sewn behind them. The front, instead of closing with buttons, was laced up like a shoe. The vest itself was solid black, but it had some dark red screen prints on it. Small angel wings were printed on the back with a heart right in the middle. She looked down at how it looked on her and smiled. ”This would look wicked on you!”

Lucia certainly seemed to have a knack at finding nice clothing; the slashed and lacy vest seemed to fly to her hand, her violet eyes picking it out almost instantaneously. How was it that the cat-eared raevan had succeeded in finding two objects of fashion that Vyn adored in mere moments, whilst Ethan must've been floundering for a good quarter of an hour? Vyn felt her hopes rise, and with them she bobbed a little higher; her rune's glow swelling as Lucia gave her the compliment. "It is quite pleasant. But finding some nice stuff is hard." She glanced at Ethan who was speaking to Lucia's guardian, an attractive lady; she was sure Lucia wouldn't have any issues with an unfashionable guardian. "My carer doesn't have a very favourable taste in clothing, I don't understand why he brought me really." Sighing, she turned her attentions back to the vest, allowing a petite smile to grace her lips. "It would look good on you too. Hang onto it, they have changing rooms to try things on I think." Vyn wasn't at all familiar with the concept of clothes shopping. But during her boredom, tramping after Ethan, her dark eyes had roved over the store, taking what was there and what the vast majority of humans were doing - she could clearly recall something seeing changing rooms and a line of ladies waiting with bundles of clothes in their arms. If she and Lucia gathered some clothes that they liked perhaps they could try on some stuff?
The scantily clad raevan's guardian apologised to Ethan and he adjusted his glasses and straightened up his suit before replying to her, attempting to perk himself up. There was no need getting annoyed because Vyn had discovered someone with a closer fashion taste to her's - he couldn't help it if he wasn't gifted with such a skill. In fact, it was good that she had another raevan with something in common to her, she certainly seemed to be talking more than usual. "Oh, it's fine.." He glanced over at the raevan pair and the vest that Lucia had retrieved with a flourish. He shrugged, best to leave the pair to enjoy the retail therapy together.
"Ethan Blake. And you are?" Might as well make introductions with the fellow raevan guardian.

Vyn’s sidelong glances at her guardian made Lucia smirk inwardly a little. Maybe the lab looked for incompetent guardians, and it wasn’t just her who was stuck with one. ”Maybe he brought you to make you happy. I love this store, but it’s definitely the hidden treasures that make it best.” For some reason, the kitten found it very easy to get along with the red and black raevan. She glanced over at her own guardian, and realized that Yuurei had grabbed the beautiful necklace from before. Lucia pulled on it gently and her guardian let it slip from her fingers. Maybe Yuurei was good for some things. ”I don’t know if you saw this, but I absolutely love it,” said Lucia, holding up the necklace. She smiled. ”Why don’t you try looking for something and if you want I’ll help you. We can look together.” Her eyes sparkled and she tossed her hair over her shoulder. Without waiting for an answer, Lucia held Vyn’s hand in her own and floated towards the next rack.
Yuurei gave the guardian a once over. He, like her, seemed to have money. He was dressed in an expensive suit and had a classy air to him. However, he was . . . Old. Like her father’s age old. No interest there. . . Unless he had a LOT of money. The blonde smiled flirtatiously. ”You can call me Yuurei. It’s very nice to meet you. I’m taking care of that one”, she pointed coyly at Lucia and winked at Ethan. ”Her name is Lucia. I assume you take care of -- I think she said her name was Vyn.”

Apparently the raevan’s guardian was about as saucy as the cat’s clothing; she spoke with a flirtatious tone and Ethan felt a little hot under the collar as she pointed at her charge with a sexy wink. “Y-yes. Vyn’s her name.” He said, recovering his posture and ignoring the woman’s coy nature. “They seem to be getting along well. I suppose they complement each other in regards to fashion.” He shuffled slightly, fingering a sleeve of another disgusting item of clothing that he found in his hand. “I seem to be the opposite when it comes to Vyn’s style.”
The similarly lacy frei’s suggestion about the necklace pleased Vyn and she allowed the spectrum of golden amber in her eyes trace over the delightful accessory. “I was looking at it before your guardian took it. It would suit you better though.” She smiled, pleased that she could form a compliment so easily – normally she really had to strain to think of a nice thing to gift another with, yet this common ground was allowing the rose to glide through conversation with relative ease. “So what do I need to look out for?” She inquired, deciding to take up the kitten’s offer of help and begin rummaging for further goodies to try on and share. However, as her hand found something of interest it became apparent that she didn’t need much advice; she’d found a top perfectly suited to the cat eared girl. It was an off the shoulder number - which judging by all the mannequins wearing them was a popular fashion statement - loosely fitted and short sleeved. It was black but covered in an assortment of different graffiti looking signs – pentacles, skulls and most prominently across the bust a cat snarling. In the rose’s eyes it was perfect for Lucia. So perfect in fact that she allowed a pleased smirk to grace her expression. “Like it?” She asked, hoping that her companion would be equally pleased by her find.

Yuurei giggled and smiled at Ethan. ”Well, Mr. Blake, that’s why some women have girl’s days. As long as they are having fun, I don’t see why they can’t have more girl’s days and maybe you and I can get to know each other a little better.” She looked at the clothing in his hand, ”And I wouldn’t recommend that one to Vyn if I were you.”
’Maybe if we get it we can share it. You keep the necklace for a month and then we make plans to see each other to exchange the necklace. Then I’ll take the necklace for the month and a month later we’ll do it again” . She smiled at Vyn. ”It’ll give us an excuse to hang out a bunch if you want.” Hopefully this other raevan would want to be friends with her.
Lucia cocked her head to the side, trying to think. ”Umm. . . “ What did she need to look for. ”Wow, that shirt is hot!” Lucia said appreciatively as Vyn picked up the top. The cat was bad a** and their wings could go over the short because it wasn’t supposed to rest on shoulders. ”Hold onto it and I’ll totally try that on,” she smiled and continued looking around the store. ”Oh my god. That is so sexy.” Lucia floated towards a display against the wall that showcased a beautiful leather jacket, also displayed on an image above the display. The model was wearing the tight-fitted zip-up leather jacket with no shirt underneath. The low jeans on the girl showed off a bit of abs, but the tight jacket caused lots of cleavage and a decent amount of bare skin. Lucia didn’t bother pulling the jacket off the hanger when she saw the security lock that, if pulled hard enough, would trip the alarms. ”We would look soooo good in those. And I bet I could modify the back to have some cool buckle thing so we could have room for wings.” She grinned at Vyn, hoping she liked the jacket too.

The suggestion of the other raevan made caused a wide grin, a rare occurrence on the rose’s expressions. The idea of sharing the necklace and rendezvousing again to swap around implied that the cat eared girl wanted to meet up again, which meant that this shopping trip was beginning to forge a friendship! So far the only other raevan that she’d arranged to meet up with and could be considered a strong friend was her brotherly companion Rivener... However, if she befriended the lace clad cat-girl Vyn would have someone to do more feminine things with. (It was a fact that Rivener would not appreciate being dragged around a shop whilst on the other hand Lucia was thoroughly enjoying it – as was Vyn!)
“Yes. I like that idea.” The rose agreed, before adding; “Do you have a mobile phone? We could exchange numbers and arrange when to meet up again.” Ethan had bought her a slim modern mobile not too long ago... Though right now the only numbers she had were the numbers she needed to reach Ethan if she ever needed him whilst he was not with her – thus it had remained mostly untouched.
When Lucia spied the jacket, Vyn’s train of thought very much mimicked that of her ghost based companion; although admittedly with a different vocabulary as the use of sexy and hot befuddled the shadow frei. Not only was the jacket gorgeous but Lucia’s quick idea on how to make the clothing wing-suitable also impressed Vyn. Personally she would never have even considered the problem of her wings till it came to wearing the jacket and when that happened she’d do as she’d done to her other shop bought clothes (which luckily were few in number); butcher holes in the back, undoubtedly killing most of the fashionable style. Nothing at all like the intricate and interesting idea that the other had spewed out instantly!
Almost as soon as she'd finished marvelling at the display she started looking around for the jackets on the rails. If it was on show being advertised then surely it would be available for purchase somewhere? Perhaps alongside the necklace they could have a pair of matching jackets? (Though... Lucia would have to modify both since Vyn would end up massacring her jacket.) Delighted when she did find them she hesitantly suggested her idea... All the while not even thinking about the cost – after all, on numerous occasions Ethan had pretty much promised her that anything she wanted he would buy. She hadn’t taken him up on his promise since her birthday gift – a shopping spree wasn’t too much to ask for.

Lucia had to think for a minute. Mobile phone? Ohhh…a cell phone! ”Yeah, I have one! But I forget it all the time” she grinned rather sheepishly. ”I’ll give you the number and you can just call it and I’ll have yours,” she said before telling the rose her phone number. ”We can totally talk whenever. I’ll try to remember to have it on me more often.”
The cat smiled at the idea of having matching jackets. ”That would be awesome! We can make a date to mod them at my house if you want.” She smiled and grabbed her size, not realizing the jacket was plugged into the rack to keep it from being stolen. ”Let’s go try everything on!” Pulling the jacket towards her, the store theft prevention alarm began going off and a determined and fierce looking security guard stalked over to the pair of raevans. Lucia’s ears leaned back, a shrill scream escaped her lips, she dropped the jacket and fairly hid behind Vyn.

With the quick flick of the wrist and the delicate work of her painted fingers, Vyn had the other girl’s number saved into her phone’s memory in no time at all. It would be good to have an easy way to contact another raevan; so far the only other of her kind she’d had several meetings with was Rivener and Xiu and they were mainly due to chance encounters – not arranged meet-ups.
However, whilst the rose was busy imputing the new number and contemplating the benefits of this new information her newfound friend was getting into trouble.
A shrieking alarm rattled through the store and in shock Vyn’s rune flare up like an angry red firework. Her black eyes searched for what had caused the disturbance and winced when she located the source of the commotion in the hands of Lucia – who promptly screamed and hid behind the shadowy frei. Already a surly man in the get up of a security man was striding through the rails of clothes towards them looking not happy at all. “Lucia.. What did you do?” Asked Vyn in hushed tones, avoiding eye contact with the man and drifting slowly away from the incriminating jacket left on the floor by the wimpy girl cowering behind her. Of course, despite Vyn’s feigned innocence as she attempted to quietly browse through another rail the guilty ravean behind her singled the pair out as the culprits and it wasn’t too long before a rough hand tapped on her shoulder.
“Excuse me, but I’d like to have a word with you and your friend there.”
She couldn’t ignore him. That would worsen the situation, but at the same time Vyn couldn’t formulate a reply either. Even at the best of times her social skills were lacking, now with a looming sour faced man above her she just stared at him – black sclera and amber irises boring into his own frowning expression. Quite frankly she was lost for words and inwardly beginning to hope that either the other frei or her father-figure would come to the rescue and get them off scot-free. Ethan was good with people... He’d be able to sort it out. Lucia? Well so far she seemed content hiding...
Ethan was oblivious, whilst chatting to the other guardian the fashion-hyped pair had drifted out of sight behind a row of mannequins. Yes, he had looked around for Vyn when the alarm had gone off, but through the barrier of plastic figures he had just spied the girl browsing through the rails – her attempt at looking calm hadn’t fooled the shop staff but it had put off Ethan. Thus Vyn’s hopes that her guardian would help her were in vain as he continued to talk to Yuurei., unaware of her conundrum.

Lucia's ears flattened against her head at the noise as she instinctually hid behind Vyn. Looking over the rose's shoulder, she hissed quietly, "I didn't do anything! I wanted to try it on!" Her large eyes went round when she spotted the security guard and she quickly turned away. While Vyn pretended to look at other clothing, Lucia turned around, her back to the jacket on the floor, and began examining her nails on one hand, slipping her other into the crook of Vyn's elbow. She should ask Yuurei if she would take her to the nail salon again. Purple nails with black flowers on them would be really pretty, she thought, getting sidetracked and almost forgetting about the security guard until the man was looming over them.
The large and muscular security guard had a deep voice that reached her own cat ears, but not far beyond. As the man resecured the jacket into it's proper place, the alarm stopped and Lucia's ears perked up. It wasn't the man that really intimidated her, but more the wailing sound of the alarm. She could deal with this man. He was only a human. She didn't like loud noises.
After the alarm was off, the security guard turned back to the two girls who had obviously, in his mind, been foolish enough to attempt to steal from his store. Lucia, her hand still tucked in Vyn's elbow turned towards the man. "What can I do for you, sir? We didn't mean to set off the alarm. I wanted to try on the jacket. Why aren't there any signs?" She gently squeezed Vyn's arm, noticing that she had been unable to respond to the glorified, but very large mall cop.

Vyn’s tapered ears also felt much better after the shrieking alarm was turned off, but unlike her feline companion her confidence still remained low as she sunk backwards, into the shadows so to speak, letting Lucia work her magic on the guard. Luckily for Vyn once her friend had come out of hiding behind her she did have a rather gifted tongue; replying to the man’s crossed arms and raised brow confidently and honestly. In fact, Vyn was silently envious of the ease that Lucia seemed to have in responding to the imposing security guard. She knew that if it was left to her she would’ve remained quiet and hesitant until the guard got even more vexed and only the heavens would’ve known what would’ve happened then! Probably deep trouble!
The man cough gruffly, inspecting the pair over again. At first he’d pegged them as punkish trouble makers... But now, close up, they were weirder than he had first thought. For a start they were floating – their lower bodies consisting of ribbons surrounding a glowing light of some description. One was definbately creepy looking with a circle of thorns on her head and weird black eyes and the other one even appeared to be sporting a pair of cat ears!
At the catty one’s response he frowned even more, brows becoming an angry caterpillar on his brow. “Don’t turn this round on me missies,” he grunted. The bloody cheek! Making it appear as though he was in the wrong. He wasn’t going to be having that on his watch! “And as for trying it on, I highly doubt that!”
Vyn winced. The man certainly seemed to be full of himself, he was standing there over them like he had all the authority in the world! Huffing and puffing, he was even flexing his large arm muscles as though he was trying to prove how big and manly he was – enforcing petty store rules on a pair of girls. “ Let’s just go...” Vyn suggested to her friend, hoping to get out of the situation and avoid provoking the man into further ‘law enforcing’. There were plenty of other places they could shop if they wanted to.
Overhearing what the creepy one said he reached out and grasped her wrist. “You’re not going anywhere. I need the both of you to come to the security desk.” He neglected to mention the fact it was only for paperwork, the statement held more weight without it and quite frankly he was being an a** about the whole situation, though he’d never admit that.

Lucia raised her own eyebrows at the gall of this security guard. While she would have been perfectly fine leaving the store and not giving them her and Vyn's business, the guard seemed to pig headed to let everything be. "I'm not going anywhere with you. And I'm not turning anything around and whether your small mind can comprehend the possibility of someone younger and prettier than you not being a bully like in high school -- I know you became a mall cop because you thought that would make you better than them -- not everyone is a jerk like yourself." While the cat knew how to defend herself verbally, she really didn't know when to shut up. Sometimes pointing out logic and deficiencies in others did not elicit a positive response. The guard looked incredulous at the bratty girl with play-cat ears. Who did she and the Jesus-wanna be gothy...thing think they were?
Lucia's eyes locked on the guard's hand wrapped around Vyn's wrist. "And take your hand off of her before I call her guardian over here and he gets you fired and sues both you and this store for assault and inappropriate behavior with a minor." Would that line work? It had worked in tv shows and books she read. Lucia glared at the guard, trying not to show any apprehension. She would not go anywhere with this a*****e.
True to her word, Lucia called out, "Yuurei and....Vyn's Guardian!!! She didn't know his name...oops. Was her defensive measure blown?
