Who: Vyn, Ethan, Aphisimet & Rivener. When: Midnight. Where: Park in Gambino. Weather: Chilly with a cold sea breeze.
The sea breeze whispered through the trees, rustling the palm leaves in the darkness and the sound of the sea could just about be distinguished in the distance - but otherwise all was silent.
Two figures were taking a midnight stroll through Gambino's park; one human, one raevan. The glow of Vyn's rune cast an ethereal red light upon the path and elongated the shadows of their surroundings, almost as if they were stretching to get away and flee from the hungry girl. Both Ethan and Vyn were wrapped up in winter clothing; Ethan had let Vyn borrow one of his coats and it swamped her thin frame, but style didn't really matter so long as it kept the sensitive raevan warm.
As expected Vyn had her headphones in, preventing any attempts of conversation from Ethan by drowning him out. She was still not sure what to make of him and for now all she wanted to do was reminisce in the comfort of this situation that was so familiar - a midnight walk in the park. Several times she would've drifted into Shuura's room and requested that they'd go and feed in the park, the disgruntled Shuura would normally cuss about how late it was, but none the less Vyn had fond memories of the shadow filled place - some friendly faces had even been met here. However, it had been such a long time ago that the memory was a blur, which was part of the reason she'd requested this trip. Jogging memories she had forgotten was vital to Vyn, now that she was surrounded by the alienating feeling that came with rehoming, she longed for familiar feelings and faces almost as much as she hungered for shadows.
Ethan, trailing behind his silent child sighed; his breath materialising in a small puff of vapour. He was actually pleased about this little excursion into the cold night. The bitter cold that was numbing his face didn't matter because this was the first time that Vyn had actually requested something from him. Very little had been said by the shadowy frei and so he had eagerly accepted her quiet request. Though he couldn't help but wish that now they were doing something together that she'd speak to him...

Rivener floated side-by-side with Aphismet, the two moving along the park in comfortable silence. The pair had come back to the park where Rivener had once met Gage and Vyn on a whim while Aphi was in town. The Raevan had insisted to accompany Aphismet on a business trip, and since the chef had been gone all day looking at new equipment for the restaurant and talking with fishmongers, Rivener had asked that they go to the park together. Even though they said nothing, both were quite content.
Aphismet's hands were stuffed into his pockets and he huddled down into his collar to keep the chill off his neck. It was dark here but Aphismet wasn't particularly scared anymore. He recalled a time, just a few years ago, when he would have been terrified. Now he could defend himself and his charge without hesitation, and having a poisonous Raevan at his side wasn't a bad guarantee of safety either. Still, wary of a mugging, Aphi kept glancing around the trees and peering into the distance as best he could.
This was how he spotted the odd red glow through the palms. Something over there was emitting a very familiar light. After a moment of pondering, Aphi's eyes opened wide. It was just like the light escaping from under Rivener's long coat! "Hey Riv, look... Do you think that's another Raevan?" The white-haired man pointed with one gloved finger for only a moment before stuffing the hand back in his pocket.
Rivener didn't like wearing coats: it made him look like a human because it was so long it nearly covered his entire ribbon. Still, it kept the cold at bay (something Rivener was very susceptible to!) and that's all that was needed. The Scorpion was just wondering how much longer he'd have to bear this cold when Aphismet pointed to something, calling Riv's attention over to a strange red glow in the distance.
Rivener's face lit up. He'd know that glow anywhere, so alike his own. "It's Vyn! What's she doing here? Doesn't Shuura live in Barton?" Not waiting for an answer, knowing Aphismet couldn't really answer that anyway, Rivener floated forward eagerly, forcing Aphi to jog to keep up. "Vyn!" he called when he got closer, grinning. "Vyn, hi!"
Aphismet noticed the very conspicuous absence of Shuura. Well, it's not like she usually tagged along whenever Vyn went anywhere, but the fact was that this time there WAS someone following Vyn. Some strange older gentleman... Did Vyn know she was being followed? Frowning slightly, wondering if he'd have to protect Vyn from this stalker, Aphismet clearly placed himself between the Raevans and this man. He didn't make any threatening movement at all, he was just... just waiting to see what this man wanted with the rose Frei, exactly.

Two approaching figures caught Ethan's attention. Both unusual in their own rights; one had a shock of white hair, visible in the dim light cast by the lamps positioned sparsely along the path, the other had what appeared to have horns and after examining the ever closer pair Ethan noticed the tell tale feature that kept popping up in his life - a lack of legs. There was another guardian and raevan in the park. He smiled, pleased that he would have some company to talk to; all the raevan carers he'd met so far had been friendly and there seemed to be no reason this one should be any different. In fact the presence of another of her kind might induce a more sociable side of Vyn, an opportunity that should be taken without hesitation.
Vyn however was too busy brooding over her own private thoughts, occasionally feeding on a shadow that crossed the path, to notice the duo. Not even when her own name was called did she turn her dark eyes to look at them.
"Vyn! Vyn, hi!"
A curious smile crept across Ethan's expression. The raevan appeared to know Vyn's name and approached her as if he knew her. Assuming that the raevan male would do no harm and that they were familiar with each other he did not make any move to prevent his approach - Perhaps this situation would be the blessed thing that would help get Vyn talking again. However, the look on the other guardian's face disgruntled him slightly and he felt a pang of annoyance when he was cut from the two raevans by the white hair man.
None the less, he kept a civil tongue as he introduced himself. "Good evening, My name's Ethan Blake. Nice to meet you...”

Rivener frowned, displeased with the lack of reaction from his closest kin (at least when compared to other Raevans barring perhaps Eirdisceol). He hadn't yet noticed the headphones. As he approached, Riv crossed his arms and leaned down into Vyn's direct vision, smiling up at her. "Are you mad at me or something?" he asked, noticing the accessory covering Vyn's ears just as he spoke the last word. Understanding flitted across his face and all trace of annoyance dissolved. He straightened and motioned for Vyn to take off the headphones, grinning.
"What are you listening to that has you all engrossed anyway?" Riv floated forward and pressed his head to the side of Vyn's, pushing his ear into the headphone for a moment without any regard for personal space. "Ah, J-rock? I didn't know you were into that. Cool! And that's a nice mp3 player, too! Aren't these like really expensive?" Riv followed the line down from the headphones to the small object that Vyn carried. "Did you get this for Christmas?" So involved in the conversation with his "sister", Rivener hardly noticed that Aphismet was actually talking to another person.
Aphismet had to admit that it didn't look likely that this person was stalking Vyn. He seemed so... elegant and dignified. But appearances could be deceiving, Aphismet knew this firsthand. A doctor and brother for instance could turn into a sadistic kidnapper... And Aphismet would be damned if he let something awful happen to someone else from the lab.
The gentlemen's introduction was startling. He was acting like it was completely natural for him to be standing there, following Vyn like this... Aphi quirked an eyebrow, willing to give this guy the benefit of the doubt for now.
"...Aphismet Delaran," the white-haired man finished the sentence Ethan left hanging. "Pleased to meet you, mister Blake. ...If you don't mind my asking, why are you following Vyn? Where's Shuura?" It was no secret now that Aphismet was trying to make sure this Ethan guy wasn't a threat. His frown was still in place and he hadn't yet moved from his spot between the two Raevans and the gentleman.

"真昼の怠惰を断ち切るような素振りで浮か 生まれ落ちた雲まで見下ろすように飛ぶ"
Asian kung-fu Generation's 'after dark' was currently coming out her headphones full blast and she was feeling increasingly more content as her hunger was quenched and she felt more and more relaxed with her environment - even the cold breeze felt slightly refreshing. She sighed and raised her eyes, meeting those of another raevan who was avidly gesturing that she removed her earphones. Before she had the chance he swooped forwards and pressed himself to her ear. Wincing she yanked herself away, eyes emanating evil - quite an intimidating sight, considering the unusual; properties they had.
Her disturbed irritation was reduced when she recognised who the person was; Rivener. The red and black boy who was so alike to her smiled, she had met him under similar circumstances so long ago. Her frown, slowly faded but despite her pleasure at seeing him she did not smile but instead she pondered what he was doing here.. She'd met him in Barton Park last time - had he moved like her?
Whilst she was considering this Rivener spouted out with some questions about her MP3. She caught enough of what he was saying to respond with a slightly muted reply; "No... From Ethan." She gestured to Ethan, who was talking to Aphisimet..
Ethan's mouth formed a small 'o' as the man questioned him. "Ah, yes, it must seem odd to you that I'm with her." He nodded thoughtfully, Shuura was Vyn's old carer. He knew sketchy details, enough to know that she hadn't been good enough to continue looking after Vyn. "Vyn was taken away from Shuura and I adopted her. I take it you and your boy there knew Vyn when she used to live with Shuura?" he couldn't help feel a little bit smug that he'd proved the man's initial reaction so absurdly wrong.

Rivener's smile dimmed a bit as he noticed how... different Vyn seemed. Not much, but even less smiling than she used to be. Upset, perhaps, even. Rivener prided himself on reading people; hell, if he could make sense of Roux's mysterious words and actions, then he could make sense of anyone. And Vyn was Riv's closest kin, so he should be able to tell...
The girl's few words, along with that motion, gave a big hint. Vyn was with some strange guy Rivener had never seen before, Shuura wasn't around (well, she kinda never was in the first place), and Vyn was upset. That spelled only one thing: rehoming. "...Oh," Riv said, meaning about more than one thing. He smiled, trying to be encouraging and reassuring instead of dragging Vyn further down the path she was already on. "So you live around here now? Lucky you. Gambino is nice. I'm just visiting, it's really a nice coincidence that I ran into you! Aphismet had business in town and we're staying at a hotel... Where do YOU live now?" He tilted his head, floating a little closer since Vyn had flinched away earlier. He knew the rose Frei was not normally prone to finding comfort in proximity, but Rivener was prone to offering it.
Aphismet blinked as the gentleman explained the situation. Vyn had been taken from Shuura and given to this man instead? ...Well just the fact that this person was WITH Vyn was already a big improvement over what Shuura would have done. The chef darted a sympathetic gaze over his shoulder at Vyn... poor thing.
"...Yes, we knew Shuura and Vyn a long time ago. Years, actually. It's... it's a pity that she had to be taken from her guardian, but Vyn is a strong girl. I'm sure she'll deal with it well. And you seem like a very dignified and trustworthy person... I'm sorry for the way I acted, it must have seemed rude." Aphi finally smiled and bowed his head slightly in apology.
"Let me introduce myself again, then. My name is Aphismet Delaran, I'm Rivener's guardian." He lifted a hand free of his pocket and offered it to be shaken, looking much more his usual cheerful self now that potential threat had been erased.

The enthusiastic frei was certainly as talkative as Vyn remembered; He seemed concerned about her well being and it did not take him long to twig that she'd been rehomed - hitting the nail on the head so to speak. The flurry of words that he threw at her baffled her temporarily but as the dim memories seeped back into focus she felt herself warming again to the almost brotherly scorpion child and she did not flinch, nor drift away as he moved closer.
She began to answer him tentatively, wrapping her arms around herself. "Not far. Just a short walk, drift, from here." She glanced at the direction they'd come from, looking down an avenue of palms that led to the sea-front. "Ethan's house is... Strange. It's so white and clean..." Yet again her gaze turned to the two humans, who were now in a discussion rather than the awkward stalemate that'd hung over them a few moments ago. They too had similarities that linked them; both possessed pale hair, though Rivener's guardian had true white hair whilst Ethan had grey... Come to think of it she didn't remember his hair being whit
"Was his hair white last time we met?" She murmured, happily changing the topic from her uncomfortable situation to another, despite how off hand and irrelevant it was.
"Thank you for the compliments, I also hope I can help Vyn." He looked wistfully at the two raevans over the man's shoulder. Vyn seemed surprisingly close to the boy, she'd been ever so distanced during the time that he'd had her - she had never liked him getting close and physical contact was something she seemed to hate with passion. "So far it seems that she's been quite shaken by the rehoming process. Apparently she was unhappy to leave Shuura, despite her neglect... And she has not shown much attachment to me. Though she has only been living with me for a week or two.."
Continuing to watch the pair he was quite taken aback when he spied Vyn actually engaging in conversation with the other raevan. He'd only experience minimal replies from her, yet the other raevan seemed to be receiving actual responses. "Like I said, it's a pleasure to meet you Mr Deleran.. And even more of a pleasure to see your boy - Rivener, did you call him? - tempting Vyn into talking."
Ethan was glad but his competitive side nagged at him. Despite his smile of relief that Vyn might be happy, it felt a bit like he was having salt rubbed in his wounds. How come Rivener could speak easily to the rose frei with such ease when his persistent attempts were ignored?

Rivener could tell Vyn wasn't as easygoing about the whole thing as she was trying to make it seem, but the Scorpion wasn't about to pry into things. He just listened, his hands in his pockets like Aphi was often doing, keeping himself as warm as possible. Vyn's unease about her new house might not be so much about how white it was, but about how different it was. Rivener imagined it couldn't be easy to be thrust into a completely foreign situation...
The sudden change of topic made the red eyes blink, but Rivener was quite used to this kind of thing. Eiry, after all, didn't stick to one topic very long usually. To see Vyn doing it was just a little strange. But at least she was talking. "Naw, I don't think it was. It turned white last year sometime when he got possessed by a ghost: it's a long story, but that's the result. It doesn't seem to grow back to black either, it just stays white." Riv shrugged. "It makes it easy to spot him in a crowd though. So hey, do you still have my phone number? It didn't change, you know. You should call me sometimes. If you need to, you know, get away for a little while I could come find you or something." Riv smiled. He didn't want to stay on this touchy topic very long either, so he instead cleared his throat and pointed to her mp3 player.
"So, what else have you got on there? I'm not a big J-rock expert, but what you were listening to sounded cool."
Aphismet decided that this man wasn't a bad guy after all. He seemed very genuinely concerned for Vyn, and that was something the rose really had been lacking before. Perhaps she really would be better off in this new home, then.
"Well, just give her time, I suppose. To be fair, Vyn never really showed much open attachment to Shuura either. They just mutually tolerated each other, it seemed like."
Aphi turned to look at the two when Ethan peered over the chef's shoulder. Rivener was talking to Vyn as enthusiastically as ever, and the girl was replying. Apparently this was new since the rehoming? "Vyn and Rivener are... They've always gotten along very well. Rivener only acts that friendly to his brother Eiry usually, and it's always been that way with Vyn; I think it has to do with how similar they are, you know? They're both darkness-based or something like that." The white-haired man smiled fondly. "Riv once said he felt very close to her. Maybe it's the same for her?"
Shrugging, Aph turned his attention back to the man. He didn't want to be nosy and he was sure the staff had done their job and found someone very appropriate for Vyn, but he couldn't help his curiosity. "So tell me, mister Blake, what do you do? You look like... a businessman. Am I right?"

The snippet of what she'd missed seemed to sting, rather than form a suitable distraction from a topic that was upsetting. Although she wasn't totally troubled at the fact she'd missed something so dangerous sounding; a ghost possessing someone did not sound like something that was enjoyable to deal with. Luckily the topic of what'd happened whilst she'd been missing dropped dead before she became overly distressed or concerned about other important events. The new topic of discussion was something she was certainly happy to talk about and for the first time that evening the small traces of a smile emerged.
"Oh, all sorts." She replied, taking one headphone and replacing it in her sloped ear and offering the other to Rivener. "Want to listen?" The current song was MUCC, Vyn recognised the intro as 'Nageki no Kane', a song off one of their recent albums. She nodded her head to the beat, mouthing a few of the words, watching for Rivener's reaction as she did so.
The other man's words comforted Ethan, if she hadn't openly showed much of an attachment to Shuura then maybe she would be the same with him? Signs of affection might not be very noticeable.. He would have to keep trying, like Aphismet had said - attachment didn't just blossom over night. The explanation about Vyn and Rivener's friendliness also smoothed down Ethan's irritation that he didn't seem to be making much of an impact.
"Similar are they? That's interesting.. Vyn's essence is a shadow, how is Rivener related to darkness? Does it lie in his soul or fel essence?" Ethan mused over the connection, curious to know more about the frei who was so similar to his own Vyn.
Aphismet also seemed curious as he regarded Ethan, asking about his job. "Yes, that is correct. Is it that obvious?" He smiled as he looked down at himself, garbed in the stylish black coat underneath which he was wearing a suit - he'd still been in his personal office finishing some work when Vyn had requested the late night stroll. The other man however did not seem to be wearing any give-aways about his own job and Ethan posed the same question.
"And yourself? What manner of job do you do?"

Rivener smiled back as he saw the first traces of a similar expression curving Vyn's lips upwards. Apparently she enjoyed talking about music. Something new for Riv to learn. He took the offered earbud and floated a little closer so that the wire connecting their ears wouldn't be too stretched apart. As soon as he placed it in the music filtered into his ear and Riv turned his eyes up, pondering.
After listening to a verse and part of a chorus, Riv's glance turned back to Vyn to find her nodding along and mouthing a few words. Riv grinned, chuckling. "Do you even know what you're singing along to, or just imitating the sounds? This is Japanese, right? Maybe you should learn it!" Riv brought a hand up to hold the bud in his ear, nodding his head along to the beat too. "It's good! Can we hear another band, to see?"
Aphismet smiled at Ethan and nodded as the man asked if they were that similar. "Rivener's essence is of the night sky. His soul is a Scorpion, as can be seen pretty clearly once you know what to look for," he motioned mostly to the wings. Most of the other give-aways like the pattern on Riv's shirt or all the sharp protrusions of his adornments were hidden in the coat.
"And it's not THAT obvious, you just carry yourself with the bearing of someone who makes important decisions, I think." Aphi chuckled. "As for me, I'm a chef. I work at the Crystal Carafe in Durem as a sous-chef, actually." Aphi puffed out a bit with pride: he'd worked hard to get that position in such a prestigious five-star hotel restaurant. He hoped Ethan knew of it. "Ah, you have the contact sheet for the Lab's Guardians, right? My name should be on there, I live with my younger brother Isikoro and his Raevan Eiry. If you or Vyn ever want to come see us, you'd be more than welcome! Although our house is just an old plantation-style place in the middle of Durem Caves North, out of the way of pretty much anything... But Vyn might like it. It's peaceful." Always eager to offer help in any way, Aphismet grinned in a friendly manner.

Vyn shook her head slightly at the question about if she actually understood the lyrics. She'd learnt one or two snippets, and had once found a teach yourself Japanese book amidst the junk around Shuura's room but the truth was that she didn't understand hardly any of the songs crammed onto her MP3, despite the fact she could repeat most of the lyrics accurately. "Learning it would be nice.." She replied, before tapping the forward button on the MP3 as Rivener requested another song.
"ねえ 本当は誰も ねえ 愛せないと言われて... 恐がりの君と出会い... やっと その意味に気付いた
傷付くため 今二人...出会ったなら 悲しすぎるよ"
A small twinge of sadness nagged at Vyn. 'I for you', was the first J-rock song Shuura had shared with her.. But a strange sense of happiness melted through the feeling of heartache; just as Shuura had shared this song with her she was now doing the same with Rivener. It seemed to be another thing that she and Rivener would share. "I want to see these live, but they don't do many concerts..." She sighed, but the thought of concerts prompted a memory of a poster she'd seen just earlier that evening, plastered on a notice board near the entrance of the park.
"There is a J-rock concert in Durem soon, but I'm not sure whether to ask for tickets.." Another smile contorted her lips. She knew that if she asked, her wish would be granted - Ethan had already made clear that he'd provide her with anything she wanted. But if he got her tickets, she wouldn't be allowed to go alone, and she was definitely not comfortable enough with Ethan to go with him. She could hardly imagine him enjoying himself there (he was too old and sensible, unlike Shuura who Vyn was sure would've loved to go) and the thought of having to spend extra time with the old man trying to talk to her made her gut reel, and therefore she hadn't bothered to mention it to him.
Ethan looked towards Rivener, inspect his wings. Nodding as he took in the stinger-like wings. "Ah yes, now you say it the features are obvious.." He agreed, still watching the two raevans talking with each other - Vyn even seemed to be smiling. It wasn't the first time he'd seen her smile, occasionally he'd caught her smiling to hertself whilst listening to music but it had always dissipated when she'd noticed him looking.
"I think I will have to take you up on that offer. Seeing Vyn act so sociable with someone is something I'd definitely like to see more of." He chuckled to himself. "And perhaps Rivener can teach me how to get her to smile like that?"

Rivener had to admit that if Vyn didn't actually know Japanese but could still remember the lyrics to all these songs only phonetically, then she must have one HELL of a memory. Dark eyebrows were arched up over red eyes as he glanced over at her. "You could learn on the internet, you know," he suggested. "Everything's on the internet."
The rose Frei forwarded to a new song then and Riv smiled as he listened, swaying along to the tempo. ...This stuff was rather good. Rivener wondered if he could get Beauregard to learn some of this stuff instead of always spouting 40s crooner music... Riv made a silent decision to look up more J-Rock on the computer when he got home, so that next time he met Vyn they could have something to talk about that they BOTH knew very well.
Vyn surprised the Scorpion yet again by talking some more. This was by far more than she usually spoke, and Riv felt proud to be the one she talked to. She wanted to go to a concert? "Well, why don't you want to ask? I'm sure your guardian would buy them for you! Heck, if he can afford toys like this," he nudged the expensive mp3 player, "I'm sure he can swing a concert ticket for you! I'd like to go too, I've never been to a concert before, maybe I can ask Aphi for money and go... Which band's concert? Do you have some music from them?"
Aphismet chuckled as well at Ethan's wishful comment of learning how to make Vyn smile. "Rivener keeps his secrets closely, so good luck with that. And he also has a natural talent for getting along with Raevans that most others have a hard time communicating with." The soft smile that crossed Aphi's features was tinged with sadness as he recalled Chloe's Roux.
Shaking himself out of that feeling, the chef turned back to smile at the businessman. "And you will be welcome anytime. Perhaps Vyn will get along with Eiry, my brother's Raevan, too; he's part plant too, although very different from Vyn. Still, there's a small connection there."

Ah. The internet.. It was something that baffled her. She could just about grasp the concept of it - it was like a big library with lots of information - but she couldn't quite use it yet... Ethan had showed her what to do on his computer in the office, using something called a mouse and keyboard and lots of clicking and typing, but so far during her stay at Ethan's she'd steered away from using the computer for fear of breaking it. But perhaps if she tried to use it, she might be able to work it. After all, she hadn't understood the MP3 at first but after trial and error she could now use it just fine. Learning what her songs actually meant would be nice...
Sighing she tried to explain her reluctance to tell Ethan about the concert. "I don't really want to go with him. I find it hard to talk to him..." She shook her head and knotted her fingers in her sleeves, leathery black wings fluttering, exhibiting her discomfort. She perked up a little at Rivener saying that he'd like to go to. It would be more enjoyable with him - at least she could talk more easily with the almost kindred frei, and if he liked the style of music he'd heard so far, hopefully he would appreciate the experience of the concert more than Ethan.
However, it didn't feel quite right to make Rivener's guardian pay. She frowned at the dilemma. "Maybe I can mention it to Ethan. It is my birthday soon. I can ask if I could bring you too." It was almost absurd to suggest that Ethan wouldn't happily agree to take Rivener to the concert if she asked of it. He was so keen to encourage her to be sociable that he'd be more than happy to dish out the extra money for Rivener to come.
Again a small smile graced her expression - this little excursion had turned out to be quite a blessing; she'd bumped into an old face and had formulated a plan to go to a concert at the same time.
As for who was playing at the concert she sighed and shook her head slightly. Although she'd only snatched a glance at the poster she didn't recall any band names that she recognised.. "Nobody big, probably just a few small bands with cover songs." She sighed, it would've indeed been nice to go and see someone she knew and was a fan of - but rarely did famous J-rock bands play in Gaia. Never the less, a concert was still a concert and now that she had someone other than Ethan to go with, her hopes were rising.
"A fellow plant raevan you say? How interesting.." Ethan nodded enthusiastically at the thought. "It's lucky that two raevans with similarities to Vyn live with each other.. I think that so long as it's all right with you and your brother I'd like to bring her round some time. I'll phone you at a more reasonable time to discuss it, maybe sometime during the week?"

Rivener tilted his head. It looked like Vyn wasn't quite comfortable with her new keeper yet. For the first time, Rivener looked back to REALLY examine the man, who was talking with Aphismet. Hm, he was nothing like Shuura; older, distinguished, rich-looking and responsible. Maybe Vyn was just used to someone a little more easy-going and couldn't quite connect to this new person yet. Riv frowned slightly. He hoped the man wouldn't give Vyn up too just because of this lack of connection... It takes a while for Vyn to bloom, but just like a rose she was quite beautiful and wonderful when she did.
The Scorpion's attention came back to Vyn as she spoke of her birthday. "Ah, your birthday? Happy Birthday then! although if all goes to plan I'll see you again around that time for the concert. It'd be fun to go with you!" Riv, being rather selfish at times, didn't find it awkward at all to just assume Vyn meant that Ethan would pay for him. "Even if it's small bands, that's how all big bands start, you know? Wouldn't it be great if we go see them and they make it big and later on we can look back and say "we saw them up-close in a tiny concert once"? It'd be pretty amazing!"
Aphismet smiled and nodded, glancing over at his charge as Riv went off on some energetic rant about something. "Of course, any time in the week is fine. I'm still here for a few days for this business trip thing, but then I'll be home. I start work at 4pm though, so if you call it would have to be before that. Is that alright?"
After getting a confirmation, Aphismet turned to Riv. "Hey, it's about time for us to keep going, I'm a little sleepy here."
Riv glanced at Aphi and nodded, sighing. "Well, looks like I gotta go. But call me to let me know about that concert thing!" Smiling widely, Riv gave Vyn a happy wave and regained his guardian's side, sparing a glance and a nod to Ethan. "...thank you for taking care of Vyn," he added.
"It was nice to meet you Ethan. I'll be waiting for your call." Aphismet smiled and offered his hand to shake once again.

Rivener had made a good point, and the small seeds of excitement grew slightly and Vyn nodded in agreement. "Mmm, that'd be very fun." She thought over it slightly. Yes, it'd be a good idea to ask Ethan about it, maybe even as soon as they went back and passed the poster. Better now than never, whilst she was still in the unusually upbeat mood that the meeting with her old friend had induced. As if her thoughts had been a signal Aphismet called out; "Hey, it's about time for us to keep going, I'm a little sleepy here."
She drifted round to face the two guardians; the prospect of going back home with Ethan didn't seem quite as awful now that she had the concert to look forward to - presuming that Ethan would be fine with it. Ethan smiled at her, his face crinkling slightly and Vyn was reminded that yes, this guardian had the money that Shuura lacked and so long as she made it clear she wanted it, it would be handed to her; Probably on a silver platter.. Vyn turned back to Rivener, a small smile on her lips. ”Mmm, yes. Until we meet again.”
Ethan gripped Aphismet’s hand, shaking it firmly. “Yes, it’s been nice meeting you Aphismet.” He smirked slightly and lowered his voice so that there wasn’t a chance of the raevans overhearing. “And it’s nice to know that Vyn might have some friends out there.”
Floating to Ethan’s side Vyn gave a small wave to Rivener and Aphismet before they turned around moving back in the direction that they’d come from. She felt quite a satisfied accomplished feeling, like she'd just consumed a particularly nice shadow. She’d only really asked to go on the walk on a reminiscent whim, but luckily she’d stumbled across Rivener and it’d made her day night. Ethan seemed to share this content mindset. Vyn was in a good mood, for one of the first times since he’d become her guardian and seeing her actually talking and smiling had certainly been heart-warming. Plus he’d met the interesting night raevan’s guardian who could be a valued ally in his quest to help Vyn become less introverted... All in all, it seemed to be a good night.
