Welcome to Maho's Game of Pones, or, well, her A Song of Ice and Fire-themed teepee. The design of the graphics are based on the designs used in the HBO adaption Game of Thrones.
As the teepee is Westeros-themed, every soquili has been assigned a Westerosi House that best represents their character. The judgment for which soquili is placed in which House is based on what we know of the House and the characters who hail from it: the Tullys are family-oriented, the Arryns are aloof in their far-removed home, and the Tyrells are generous to others of smaller fortune.
Each soquili's directory image and main banner have the sigil of his or her House displayed upon it. Their main banners also have their Houses' words, and, occasionally, a saying associated with the House.
If some of the terms on the main word banners don't make sense, well... All I can say is to read the books! (Or wiki it. The Wiki of Ice and Fire is most useful.)

[b]Short Summary of their plotline:[/b] Tin and Pach met when she (literally) stumbled upon him dancing to the music of his bells. She joined him, dancing to the music of the wind, and they've been sneaking away to meet each other in their meadow ever since. After struggling to come to terms with their feelings, they introduced each other to their parents. However, her family is plagued by pure and cursed skinwalkers alike, and with the threat of them looming over the couple, Pachelbel's family decided to move away and left him to move into the protection of the Vanaras, Tin's herd. They are now waiting for the skinwalkers to come back and to defeat them in a last stand - which will render Tin an amnesiac. Pach will spirit her away to recover her memories. It's likely that they will return to the Vanaras with foals in tow.
[b]What are their parents' personalities?[/b] [i]Mother:[/i] Tinúviel has gone through much change in her short life, and as a result, her personality is very dynamic: it all depends on the situation. While he has no experience fighting, he'll do everything in his power to protect the ones he loves.

[b]Traditions:[/b] Dancing runs in both families, though it is much more of a tradition in Pachelbel's family. On Tin's side, there is a coming of age ceremony. Unlike the Amachi clan, who earn their bells, Pach's family trades for them. [b]Herd/Family Culture:[/b] Tin has been immersed in the culture of the Vanaras since she emerged from her basket and was once favored to be the future Mistress of Ceremonies, but her sister took over that position when it was realized that Tin didn't really want to do that. [b]Short Summary of their plotline:[/b] Kendrick ran into Sephora on the beach, where she was waiting for her mother to return to her. He gave her some flying lessons (her wings are too small to sustain long/high flight) and spent the night nearby and continued to teach her. In the next few days, Sephora realized that her mother had been gone far too long and freaked out - Kendrick soothed her and they began to look for Kalypso. They did not find her. After looking and continuing her flying lessons, they admitted their feelings for one another. Eventually, Sephora will meet his family - which will be an ordeal in and of itself.
[b]What are their parents' personalities?[/b] [i]Mother:[/i] Loving, sweet, and understanding, Sephora is her own harshest critic. However, with Kendrick's help, she is beginning to see that she can be perfect in her own skin. [i]Father:[/i] Kendrick is of the knightly variety. He's fiercly protective of any he loves or cares about and would do just about anything for his family. He never took after his mother's elitist views that wings were superior to all others, and never cared if Sephora could fly or not, he merely wanted to help her achieve a dream. A true gentlemen who is friendly to others, and sometimes gets a little tongue-tied talking to his pretty lady.

Personality: Amitola is one of those hare-brained motherly sorts. She dotes on children and tends to be overprotective of them, going to great lengths to keep them safe. Generally, she doesn't look out for her own safety when others are at risk, preferring to shepherd them out of the way before moving herself. She can be childish at times, often using her otter familiar, Sunila, as a father figure in place of her missing parents. If annoyed, she has a tendency to be a petulant brat. Compulsively collecting what she refers to as 'shinies,' her underwater cave is so full of the broken bits of abalone and pretty pebbles that entire walls are decorated with them. Her pride and joy is her flat plate of silver that is stuck with barnacle-glue to her wall, which she uses to check her reflection. She has been down to the estuary at the bottom of the river once in her life, with her parents, with whom she brought back many things, including chunks of coral, oyster shells, and beach glass. Having finally worked up the courage to go again, she's preparing for the journey, after which she will be a permanent ocean resident.
History: Ami had a rough time for a while during her adolescent period, after her parents left the lake without taking her on the journey, hoping that the solo time would give her a chance for some reflection and growing up. This backfired a bit, as Ami now has some issues when it comes to trusting others not to leave her. These feelings of anxiety are further enhanced by the fact that her daughter is a traveler, as well as that the father of her daughter left her a while after the children were born, taking their son with him. Sunila doesn't help much with this, as he does his best to keep her from getting hurt again by encouraging her already debilitating avoidance of male seathi. Now mostly by herself, Ami contents herself with scouring the bottom of the lake for new shiny bits, but know she'll have to make a change sometime soon.
Character Development: Ami started off with a sad story. Now that that story has had a bit of time to lengthen, she's in need of further development. Her plans can be found in the spoiler.
Ami is in deep need of character enrichment. This will be done by a regiment of self-rps to give me a better grasp of her little rainbowy self, as well as some roleplay with her daughter and a bit more of a look into her deep-seated avoidance of male seathi with George. He will, of course, be her tormentor to some extent, as he finds it hugely satisfying to give her a bad time.
Series of roleplays will include: ♒ Ami realizes that her parents have packed up and left, worrying the young seathi as she zooms down the river to find them. As she recognizes the turn to the delta and its estuary, however, Ami stops and thinks for a minute, realizing that they would have told her they were leaving if they wanted her to know. Emotionally wounded, she returns to her cave to figure out how to live by herself. This is where her adaptable nature comes from - she believes that there's a reason for everything, and in turn, a way to respond to everything. She contemplates throwing the silver-plate mirror that her parents left glued to the wall deep in the lake, but decides that it will be her reminder that they are out there somewhere, loving her still. ♒ Ami meets her first boyfriend, George. He turns out to be an adorable scoundrel, endearing and heart-wrenching at the same time. She picks up her love of shiny things from him. ♒ Another RP with George, detailing their cutesy little relationship of pet names and treasure-hunting. ♒ Her last RP with George until Illy brings him north around the time of the Vitterfolk Story-telling Celebration/Pandah's ORP. He tells her that his wanderlust is too strong to defy any longer and that the sea is truly his mistress; heart-broken, she watches him leave. This is where her shiny collection grows and the collecting itself becomes more than just a hobby: she drives herself to work so that she won't have to feel the pain of losing both her first love and that relationship. ♒ -Time gap: Ami and Bonaventure get pregnant.- Ami reflects, baffled, on the fact that Bonaventure has a 'baby tummy.' She knows he's already experienced this before, and has a sneaking suspicion that he might try to sneak off at some point. ♒ -Time gap: Bonaventure's delivered the babies safely into their shells. He leaves while she's sleeping as many as he can carry, which is basically one.- Ami freaks out and tries to find her other shell, her maternal instinct kicking in. This proves futile, however, and she realizes that Bonaventure's gone, too. Kicking herself for letting him get away with it, Ami curls herself defensively around her basket and puts Sunila on watch duty. She decides to have as good a relationship as possible with the child she still has, despite her longing for her missing shell, whose colors she didn't even get to see. In the night as she sits there restlessly, Ami watches the colors of her basket begin to turn beautifully and is thankful for the blessing of life that she had so far not truly acknowledged by focusing on Bonaventure's treachery. She vows to protect her daughter (she has the distinct feeling of a girl, for some reason) from seathi like her father. ♒ Ami hears the baby humming in the shell for the first time when she deduces that it thinks she's left it alone. Encouraging the child to comfort itself, Ami sings back to it. This is partly how Illy maintained her song. Adoring her shell more than ever, Ami lays her head against the rainbowy outside and sits there, listening and humming back. ♒ Ami takes things down from her walls to lay around the shell, hoping that, though she knows the baby can't see through the layers of crustacean surrounding it, it will like the beauty of shiny things as much as she does. ♒ -Time gap: Illy hatches when YongLiang is in her mother's cave. After ICly shooing the stallion away, Ami and Sunila tend to Illy.- Ami and Sunila take Ilyrana to the surface for her first breath.
Character Concept: Ami's character was something that was quickly decided when she was unexpectedly won from the first flaffle I participated in. [xxx] I needed a temper that I could see working in any situation; something generic with which to start. Adaptable seemed like a good place to start - and so a harebrained, maternal, slightly world-weary seathi was born. She was named for her colors: 'Amitola' means rainbow in a Native American language.
Personality: Ilyrana is the perfect reversal of her mother's childhood - she grew up with love stronger than the cords of time from overprotective Amitola and Sunila, she has never had to worry about where her family is or whether they are still alive, and she eventually found a longing to leave home, rather than to stick to it like the barnacle glue that stuck her mother's mirror to its place on the cave wall. From the time she was placed in her shell, she had a song in her heart; it began first as an almost imperceptible vibration within her throat, and then a soft humming, then louder, at which point her mother heard her and hummed back. With encouragement, Illy has found comfort and contentment in her song, as she grounds herself with it daily. It is the one thing that she knows will remain with her, long after her color fades from age and her lovers have left her for some distant sunset. And so she feels no regret when someone is taken from her, whether by personal choice, their calling, or tragedy - she may grieve their loss, but she does not regret what she never thought to do. Largely alert and hyper, Illy does everything at speed; she tags along by her dolphin's tail and is quick enough to evade the danger of the shipwrecks she likes to explore. She's actually quite calmer than she may appear at first glance, as Illy's hyper mode is something that no one would want to witness - simply having a million things going on in her head at once, Illy sorts through them one at a time while her mouth runs a mile a minute. Though she doesn't know it yet, she greatly takes after her mother when it comes to her maternal instinct. It's strong and unadulterated; she would save foals and shells before herself in any situation.
History: Illy was born to a harebrained, extremely protective mother. She sang to comfort herself when her mother was away and when she wasn't strong enough to swim to the lake floor and back to the cave where the pair and Sunila lived. The otter was a father figure to her, her mother's best friend, and quite an old and wizened soul. Her mother hardly mentioned her father, though when Illy was old enough to understand, Ami explained the whole story of what had happened so that Illy could make her own judgment. Since, Illy's been careful to avoid seathi like her father, who she saw as a bit of a sneaky scoundrel. However, wanderlust grew in the young mare, eventually leaving the nest and drifting down the river to the sea. There she met Orlando, and she's helped him add to the shinies that he strings around his body for decoration. She learned that the fastest way for her to get around is to cling to his dorsal fin or (carefully) his tail. While out wandering, she met a stallion named Apatite, with whom she shared a mutual desire - to continue their bloodlines, though her wish was a bit more romantic than his... She's also met George, a seathi to whom Illy thought, at first, she was related, if only by his rainbowy marking upon a black base alone. He never corrected her, and later introduced himself as her mother's first love.

Not too long later, another presence, this time a much more comforting one, darts about in what the foal perceives to be a panic, then leaves for a bit. Scared of being left totally alone, as there's only one presence left (Sunila), the baby does her best to calm herself down, her humming rising to an almost audible pitch. However, her comforting presence (Amitola) returns a a short while later and surprises the foal by wrapping itself around the shell, enveloping it in warmth. Now happy and feeling safe, the foal goes to sleep. ♒ Shell: The baby awakens to something gently scraping against her shell. Curious, she listens to her mother's voice as Ami deliberates what should be used to decorate the shell's exterior to comfort the baby. Delighted that she might see light soon, the baby hums gently to her mother as Ami piles things around the shell. ♒ Foal: Deciding that it's time to come out, Illy struggles to split the shell along its sealed seam. She noses it until she gives up, and starts batting at it with her hooves. Much to her surprise, the shell swings open, and she calls for her mother. Ami and Sunila take her to the surface. As she takes her first breath and looks around, she sees the beauty of the world above, and then is taken back to her mother's cave, where she sees the contrast between two different kinds of beauty. Amitola names her 'Ilyrana,' her family's name for opals, due to her coloring and self-possessed beauty. Sunila heartily approves. ♒ Foal: Illy explores the depths of her mother's cave of treasures and takes it upon herself to someday bring back barnacle glue to fix the broken things in the front room. Thinking that she'll go right away, she's heavily disappointed when her mother tells her that not only will she not be going, but that she won't be strong enough to reach the river, let alone the sea, until she is grown. This effectively puts a damper on Illy's plans, but inspires her rebellious wanderlust. ♒ Foal: Now that Illy's not allowed to go to the river, she explores every corner of the lake, finding secret places to hide the treasures that she sometimes spots on the lake bed. ♒ Young Adult: Excruciatingly bored as she becomes more and more familiar with the lake, Illy asks her mother if she is ready to go out to the river yet. Ami looks her up and down, and then takes her to where the river sucks the water from the lake. Just inches below the current, which is nearly visible in its force, Ami asks Illy if she believes she is ready. Unable to say goodbye as her daughter nods, Ami smiles and turns away, muttering something about how her baby is all grown up. When she looks back up, Illy is gone. ♒ ♒ ♒
Character Concept: Ilyrana was born rather unexpectedly, after just four raffle entries, if I recall correctly. Her parents were chosen by the colorist, here. It took some time, but upon seeing her shell, I decided on a musical mare; rainbowy and beautiful and always with a song in her heart. Like her mother, she was named after her coloring - 'Ilyrana' was the name of the daughter of Amlaruil in Evermeet: Isle of the Elves, and her name meant 'opal.' To deal with the plots of her father departing and taking the other shell, Illy became the fiercely protected first child, which is where her rebellious wanderlust came from. However, even after seeing the wonders of the ocean and the rivers, without fail, Ilyrana returns home. Just as her song is at home in her heart, she is at home in her mother's heart.

Personality: George is one of the more mischievous seathi out there. At a young age, he robbed mers and kelpi, always going after their most prized treasures. He's a little scalawag, always on the run from somebody. He keeps his most treasured possessions on him at all times - the simple pearls he received from Amitola and his starfish, whom he calls 'Baby.' He can be vicious with words when upset, but would never try to hurt anyone unless it came down to self-defense. He's quite crafty with his words in general, preferring to use them to his advantage than rely on his own stealth.
History: George comes from a sea-dwelling seathi family, raised on legends of seathi who raided uncouth kelpi and mers. When he grew up, he became what he'd always wanted to be - an explorer, a pirate, doing exactly what his family had done for generations: stealing and treasure-hunting. When he became a young adult, his family gave him his earring. By the time he turned two, he had a band of brothers in the shiny trade, sharing the loot when they found a particularly rich shipwreck. However, that shipwreck also haunted him for the rest of his life: not only was there treasure, but it held the first dead he'd seen whole in a long time. Among them were what he recognized as a land-dwelling soquili, one with sea-green hair and a black coat, majestic in his abnormally large size. George from then on forewent shipwrecks, unable to scour the sight of the dead soquili from his eyes. He withdrew from his circle of friends for a while, and headed inland by the river, eventually reaching the lake, where he met Amitola. She was his first love, and they began collecting shiny things together; the sea floor was littered with things that the mer and land-based traders had dropped and not bothered to pick up. This was where George got his pearls; Ami found a string of them and put them in his hair. His fishhook he came by on accident; he swam into a snag to look for something to give her in return, instead catching the barbed hook in his ear. She had to come to his rescue, something he never forgave her for, and bit the line off as close to his ear as she could get. Shortly after this, he left her, making up excuses about his wanderlust, and broke his own heart. He now wanders the sea disconsolately, but made the journey back to the lake when he met Ilyrana, Amitola's daughter.

George's need for character development isn't as urgent as Ami's and Illy's, as his character is getting a bit more attention from the start. However, he still has plans and rp's that need to be carried out. :3
Series of roleplays will include: ♒ Young Adult: (Initial character exploration roleplay.) George hatches a plan to find the rumored booty of a shipwreck no one has yet braved. Going in, he's eager, almost excited, and incautious, He has no idea what's ahead, and even the dark, not-yet-rotten exterior of the ship doesn't give him pause. This first part will explore his character before he sees Areion's corpse. He'll be focused on his mission, thinking of how he'll rub his loot in everyone's faces. He'll mischievously look around corners, making a game of the hunt. He'll poke around and laugh out loud at some of things he sees. Then, he'll notice something floating eerily nearby - the corpse of a giant land-dweller soquili. This puts some fear and appreciation for life into the poor troublemaker's head. Without grabbing a single thing, George flees the shipwreck. He puts on a brave face for anyone that might come across him, but inside, he's mentally reeling. He begins to wonder if he's been robbing the dead for the duration of his treasure hunting days, and resolves to only loot sites that have no sign of the dead or are guarded by the living. ♒ Uncharacteristically despondent after he comes face to face with the specter of death that was Areion's body, George leaves his booty in various hiding places and seeks out a different place to live, hoping that a new start will erase the image of death from the backs of his eyelids. This is where he finds the river delta, and begins his journey upstream. Eventually, he finds the lake, and decides to explore. ♒ George and Amitola meet. Slowly but surely, she draws his humor and rough charm back to the surface, burying his memory of the dead soquili with infatuation. She's the first mare he's met that hasn't been family, or at least considered family, and she takes his breath away. He finds the fact that she has no mane a little strange, as even he has a thatch of hair for a forelock. ♒ [Insert George & Ami plots described in Ami's development section here.] ♒ George inspires Ami to start scouring the lake bottom for things that traders have dropped and have either been unable to or haven't bothered to pick up. There, she finds a strand of pearls on dark string and strings it in his mane. Hoping to return the favor with a gift of his own, George finds a snag to look for things in and ends up catching a fishhook in his ear. Much to his pride's dismay, Ami comes to his rescue and bites the line off as close to his ear as possible. He ends up being grateful to her and has a moment of vulnerability, which he hates himself for. ♒ Soon after the incident with a fishhook, George tells Ami that he cannot tame his wanderlust - a blatant lie, which she believes. He and his injured pride leave her, and he breaks his own heart. He almost turns around in the river to go back to her, but cannot bear the shame of looking weak, despite the fact that the love he bears for her is stronger than any he has ever known. ♒ ♒ ♒
Character Concept: George's character was formed from several characters named George. First was George from the Harry Potter series - this is where he gets his tricky nature from, his love for causing mischief. Second was George Cooper from the Alanna Quartet by Tamora Pierce, from whom he got his love of treasure, spying, and, well, more mischief. Third was George from Paradise Kiss, a manga that I fell in love with after rereading the first and subsequent volumes. From him, he got his self-destructive nature. Fourth and last, my Jack Dempsey cichlid, George, from whom he got his design, avarice, and stealth. George was originally to be either Amitola's or Ilyrana's mate, but his past with Amitola might be too painful for him to love either her or her daughter, as a mate, ever again. He was obtained through Darkmoon Dancer`s Bribes, much to my surprise.

Personality: Bracken is tough. She has survived journeys that most would never dream of undertaking; a survivalist to the core, she's gruff and abrupt with her honesty. She doesn't believe in sugar-coating anything, preferring to "give it to you straight." However, beneath this exterior of a mountain woman, Bracken is much more sophisticated than one would think at first glance. She calculates risks before she takes them, especially when approaching big soquili, who she has found can be unpredictable in temperament, no matter the breed. Though she herself is not much for size, in a bad situation, she knows how to use this to her advantage. She feels no dishonor when it comes to running from a battle; having never understood the concept of a 'code' being so ingrained in somebody that they would stand in harm's way to defend it, Bracken can be far from conventional when it comes to any kind of conflict. She likes to think outside the box and it often greatly amuses her to see others reeling from astonishment at her ideas. Unlike the Cerynei that her breed resembles, Bracken is not very spiritual - she believes in realism and doing one's best to make the world better for those that will follow, but she doesn't believe that any deity is up there to lend a hand.

Character Concept: Bracken's character is based partly on the one that her previous owner, THE Jehan, planned out for her when she was won from the mini sub-breed event and partly on the mountain men of North America. Rough and practical, she feels no attachment to a particular code of honor.
Bracken will only bear foals (on purpose) if she feels she can guarantee their safety and her own for the time it takes to raise them. Such would likely take a partner and a stable herd, and as she doesn't believe in the practicality of love, it would take a loooooot of convincing to get her to even seriously think about it.
Bracken will likely never breed, not unless she finds the stallion that is her perfect match. And by perfect match, I don't mean insta-love. I mean love that is worked for, bled for, challenged, and changed. She is a survivalist - and unless things will be guaranteed to be prosperous for the amount of time it would take for her to bear and raise foals, she does not believe in creating more mouths to feed. Her people are the mouths she must feed.
Personality: Once a naive mare desperate to find the stallion that had run from her because of a perceived affair between Calixte and a pegasus, Calixte came to the Kawani Lands without a clue what she was getting herself into. She was caught in a land of angels and monsters. Easily impressionable at first, Cali has since gone through a few changes that have made her ironclad on some subjects - and one such change has been motherhood. Cali was truly a mother before anything else: caretaker to forests first, caretaker to foals second. At her core, everything she acts on comes from the need to protect, whether her act is shielding another, giving advice that will hopefully help them along, or, eventually, letting go and giving someone the benefit of living their own life. Much of Cali's personality to begin with is part of her need to control her life: she must track down the boy who has the wrong idea about her. She must choose her own destiny, rather sit by the river and let it wash by. She must give her daughter the best life possible. Though she does not know she tries to control others, she does; her life is all about her, and not the people in it. When faced with a situation that she cannot control, she has no idea to react - facing problems that do not directly affect her is something that she grapples with. Gradually, she will release this impossible need to protect and therefore control as she faces her own mistakes. By the end of her first plotline, she will be facilitating others' free choices, rather than inhibiting them.
History:
Ancient History:
Calixte was born in Greece, or made, as she would say. She believes that she was made from the trees for the purpose of protecting, serving, and healing them, as well as listening to every concern. In this way her beliefs are mostly parallel with those of Cerynei kind – while she believes she was made from the trees, she does not believe that the event happened some time ago, in ancient history. Though there were other dryads around her, she largely raised herself. Her foalhood consisted of training her ears to listen to the needs of the forest. At first her large ears were overwhelmed by the sounds around her, but as time went on the static began to fade. In its place, voices took over. These were what she called “the voices of the forest.” Though she thought that what she was hearing was the trees and vines speaking to her, Calixte was, in fact, hearing the sounds that her ears filtered out. Some of her other sisters also experienced this phenomenon – almost a subconsciously induced schizophrenia. That was how her life went for some time: hearing voices of the trees, caring for the forest, and hanging out with her dryad sisters.
When she had just begun to care for her forest unassisted, however, another dryad lay claim to it: her closest sister, Calandra – “the singing bird,” named for the trilling notes she would sing back to the trees when they spoke to her. Calandra was older than Calixte by many years, but had never claimed a forest; she had instead preferred the company of water nymphs and dryads in training. For that reason, the dryad elders told shooed her away from Calixte’s forest, as it had already been claimed. While Calandra claimed ignorance, Calixte began to grow suspicious of the other dryad’s motives. After that, things were normal for quite some time. No pointed glances were exchanged at Council and no more slights were made. In time, the issue was forgotten.
Eventually however, Calixte was drawn to the human world. The Greeks were fascinated by the dryads and other Soquili that lay claim to Greece; in particular, they were attracted to Areion, a young stallion who had recently made his way to fame is a great battle mount. He had turned the tide of battle for many of his riders, his ferocity and intelligence unmatched. Calixte, like many of the nymphs, was attracted to him for different reasons. Though he won the hearts of many of them, neireids and dryads alike, two were different from most: Calixte and Calandra. These were the two who challenged him; outwardly, they put duty to their forests above pursuing simple attraction.
Calixte’s forest, remote and nestled in the mountains of Greece, made her nearly unattainable for Areion; in order for him to reach her, he would have to leave the fawning of all the other nymphs behind – and only for a chance to woo her. Calixte herself was also remote, though she knew that she would eventually be matched with a mate by the elders if she did not find one herself. Though she was married to the duty she had to her forest, she was not unfamiliar with courtship: she gave most of her pursuers a chance.
Calandra’s forest, however, was in a prime spot for socializing, as she had chosen it specifically to be close to her friends. Though she played coy at first, pretending that her duty had ensnared her (she had never really felt the tug of responsibility in actuality), Areion was disgusted with her dishonesty when he found out that she would ignore her forest, her duty, her family, and her elders if given the chance to do something “better.” When he had grew tired of the other giggly nymphs, Areion left to seek out the dryad they disdained for being “too serious.”
He looked for her for a week or so before he found her at a council meeting. They talked for a long time after the meeting was over, and she gave him permission to walk her home.
It was a long walk.
The journey back to her forest took about two days, and when they bid each other goodbye, Areion took up residence in a village nearby. Though he brought glory to the villagers once they learned who he was, they left him alone – as a warhorse, he was very good at defending himself, and he didn’t like to be bothered. Every few days or so, Areion would “stumble” into Calixte’s forest, until he had done it enough times that he stopped making excuses and she never mentioned it. Though she still felt duty-bound to her forest and her people, Calixte’s responsibilities began to slip. Her forest began to grow wild, and many of the animals’ populations went unchecked. Though she did not notice this while she was with Areion, it later became a major factor in her personality: without the shame of deserting her duty, the lives of her daughters would not be the same… But, while Areion’s relationship with Calixte was sweet and filled with long walks through the forest and shared knowledge, Areion grew jealous of the other males that she escorted safely from the shade of the trees. He began to see himself as her only protector.
His jealousy was the catalyst for the ending of their relationship. One day, she found Pegasus, wounded and flightless near the outskirts of her forest. As she tended to his wounds, Areion found them, and, misjudging the situation, fled in shame and betrayal. As soon as Pegasus was out of harm's way, Cali – as Areion called her – ran after Areion, but too late. The dockman informed her that he'd boarded a ship leaving to on a mission to colonize.
Desperate to mend things and not exactly thinking, Calixte boarded the next ship, going after him. She landed in the Kawani Lands, foreign and strange. One of the first things she ran into was an unfriendly skinwalker, but she not as impressed as she should have been, having seen far worse monsters in Greece. They parted with a tentative alliance.
Not long after meeting the skinwalker, Cali met Kenton. He was her introduction to the Cerynei, as he called them: Soquili with willowy bodies born from trees in days gone by. She postulated that, perhaps, in Greece (her idea of “the mainland”), the trees were still bearing such children. After hearing the fate of the Cerynei Lands from Kenton’s mouth, he and Cali established the Vanaras, also known as the Cerynei Herd. They journeyed the Kawani Lands in search of displaced Cerynei and children borne by later generations.

Cali is in deep need of some character development therapy. She's on the path to elderhood - if she's to get there, she needs to grow, which is where this section comes in. Under construction.
Series of roleplays will include: ♣ Early roleplays: Limited to two or three that we've already done (Forest Folk & the like), showing that they're both kind of more shallow than they will be at the end, when they know pain and love and loss. ♣ For the Herd: Calixte, Kenton, & Vanaras members. Cali and Kenton announce to the herd that they are having children, possibly to lighten the atmosphere with foals. The more I think about this, the more I don't see this going over well, because a few might be supportive, but I think most would be like, "...you should be having foals for yourselves, not us...." [At the end of For the Herd - Some Kind of Denial: Calixte & Kenton. They deal with how they feel about the herd's reaction and try to talk it out. Fayearan could come up in the conversation?] ♣ Children of the Vanaras: Calixte, Kenton, and possibly a midwife soq or NPC. Tinúviel and Enaran are born to the herd and placed in their baskets; Enaran won't appear as anything more than a little pink foal, one of two placed in baskets, and neither of the two foals will really be anything more than an object. [At the end of Children of the Vanaras - Presentations: Calixte, Kenton, the baskets of Tinúviel & Enaran, Vanaras members. The baskets are presented to the herd, probably with mixed feelings all around, but mostly congratulations. Cali and Kenton can reflect to how it went at the end, maybe settle into their nest. In the morning, or some morning, the baskets' colors have changed, and when Cali sees Tin's basket color, she freaks. So this is her reaction of "oh gods, what a mistake I've made." Maybe there could be some tension between Cali and Kenton here, especially if he sees the baskets as their children, no matter who the father is, and can't see why she's freaking out about it?] ♣ Emergence: Calixte, Kenton, Tinúviel. Tin emerges from her basket (we only see her because Enaran is MIA) and Calixte immediately feels a disconnect. She looks nothing like Kenton, nor even a lot like her, and even though the filly loves her, Cali just feels like she doesn't know how to react around her. When Kenton notices Cali staring senselessly at Tin, I think he could show her a little love, take her around the herdlands and let Cali sit on her feelings for a little bit. When Kenton and Tin come back from their tour, Cali is ready to name her, having reflected on her feelings and deciding that if Tin doesn't look like her, perhaps she can be like her and connect with her in another way - through training her as the apprentice Mistress of Ceremonies. ♣ Apprenticeship: Calixte, Tinúviel, Kenton. This would be like a series of little RPs in the same thread with different incidents through Tin's training. I want her to confide in her dad a little and perhaps have him bring it up to Cali that Tin doesn't want to be Mistress of Ceremonies when she grows up. Cali assures him (in denial) that this isn't true, and eventually, Tin finds the courage (perhaps with Kenton's help) to stand up to her mom and tell her flat out that she won't do it. Cali doesn't understand... I think this could unfold a variety of ways, probably with some silent treatment on Tin's part. It'll end with Cali and Tin giving begrudging forgiveness, perhaps at Kenton's behest. ♣ Tip of the Iceberg (with additions): Rishy, Frostbite, Calixte, Kenton, Tinúviel, Enaran + active herd members and outside instructors. Rishy and Frostbite attack Tinúviel and Enaran while they are at play. This is mostly finished, but I think we need to add on some reflections to the end of it. At the end, everyone was still in shock, but we could see them raising the alarm and setting the guard on alert before sleeping on their plan for the night, and reflecting on what they need to do in the morning, completely panicked and trying to figure out the next rational action. They could bring their plan before a council and set it in motion. For this, we need active herd members and possibly need to bring in outsiders to arrange combat lessons. We can end with the herd being on their way to being satisfactorily prepared for the next strike. ♣ Biological Children: Calixte, Kenton, Amaltheia, Faun, Ithillún, possibly Rishy & Frostbite. Series of little RPs in one thread. Part 1: Cali tells Kenton that she is pregnant, possibly a year or two after the purewalker attack, when everything seems peaceful. They announce to the herd that they're expecting. Part 2: When nine months have passed, Cali gives birth, but it's not really a miracle of life, as the last time was. They were conceived under a twisted moon, and she thinks that that is the reason for so much agony and blood in the birth, so much so that she almost dies. The three foals are placed in their baskets and Cali barely survives the next three nights. For all the hardship, though, she loves her baskets, and feels much more of a bond with them than she did with her other two, which makes her feel a little guilty. I would love to see Frostbite or Rishy witness the birth or smell the blood and decide here that they will come back for some tender foal meat when the babies have emerged... Part 3: The three girls emerge from their baskets, to everyone's delight. Tin is their default babysitter, though she and Cali or Kenton might have to have a talk with older sister about her responsibilities. All is well at the end of this RP. ♣ Home Sweet [Temporary] Home: Calixte, Tinúviel, Pachelbel Amachi, possibly Kenton. Tin has dreams about the skinwalkers attacking Pachelbel. When she brings him home after talking to her mother and running off to find him, Cali lets him stay. At the end of it, I'd like Cali to tell Kenton that Tin has been having dreams of the purewalker attack, even though it has been years since it has happened. Some sort of dread settles over them, but they don't know the full horror of what could have happened - the skinwalkers let them off easy, after all. ♣ The Night is Dark & Full of Terrors: Calixte, Tinúviel, Ithillún, Pachelbel Amachi, Lynnea, Bedwyr, Kenton. A cursedwalker attacks Ithillún and Tinúviel, putting the herd back on high alert. This happens perhaps a month after Pach came to stay with the herd because of Tin's dreams. At the end, Frostbite and Rishy could come back and wait and watch because they've smelled/heard of someone lurking around the edge of their territory and their delicious herd of meat. Kenton and Cali have their conversation about his becoming leader, and he is inaugurated soon thereafter. Drako could find the herd around this time. ♣ A Darkness Whole and Complete: Frostbite, Rishy, Calixte, Kenton, Tinúviel, Pachelbel Amachi, Ithillún, Faun, Amaltheia, Drako, Banyan. Frostbite attacks Tinúviel and Pachelbel in their dancing meadow a little ways outside the herdlands while Rishy ambushes Cali, Kenton, and the fillies during playtime. I think this would be a great time for Banyan to come in - he could pop up and help Tin and Pach in their remote location while Drako and other herd members chase Rishy into the forest. When Cali and Kenton realize that Tin and Pach are unaccounted for, they rush into the forest to try to find them, only to find them with Banyan, who might be the only reason they survived. Once everybody is done thanking him and the "who are you?" question is asked, he could drop the "I'm your grandson" bomb on Kenton and announce that Drako is his brother, throwing the herd into a little gossipy chaos. While everyone is regrouping, Banyan could find Rishy or Frostbite and suggest he spy for them and somehow worm his way into their "good graces," if walkers have those. He saw how weak the Vanaras were against two skinwalkers, after all. At the end, he reappears at sundown, and Cali and Kenton can have a sitdown with he and Drako and figure out just what the heck is going on with the family. Drako professes his love of Zenstar, and to bring light to the traumatic events, three ceremonies are held: Banyan is inaugurated into the herd, Drako and Zenstar are lifemated, and Cali and Kenton are officially ceremonially lifemated. ♣ Infertility: Calixte, Kenton, outsiders. Now that they are officially lifemated, Cali and Kenton are having trouble conceiving. It's been months, possibly years since the skinwalkers attacked, but they have not made the same mistake - they are not complacent. Despite being fit and healthy, Cali's womb remains barren, and she does everything natural she can to try to make herself fertile again (here we get her trying different herbs, taking special baths, etc.). Eventually, she decides that she was right when she had such a hard labor - she needs to lift the curse she thinks has been placed on her by the twisted moon under which she conceived her last children. She sees seers, witches, wishes on stars, but nothing works. I want to see hers and Kenton's relationship go through strain and struggle in this phase of their life, and eventually, one of them has to snap her out of it. She will be devastated, but she will go back to somewhat functioning. ♣ The Prodigal Daughter: Calixte, Kenton, Tinúviel. Tin expresses her desire to move from being a dancer/entertainer to becoming a full time herd guard. Cali is, of course, totally against the idea - her relationship issues with Tin will resolve here, probably after a shouting match. She doesn't want to send her first daughter into a combat situation. Tin will get her way, though, and Kenton and Cali should have a chat about it, as well as what they should consider for their other three daughters. [I think... I may seriously consider killing Tin in the last stand. o.o I have to talk it over with her mate's owner, first. Perhaps she and Pach will disappear, letting Cali think that my butcher bearwalker got a hold of them. But that's for a later plot.] ♣ The Last Stand: Skinwalkers' side - Rishy, Frostbite, Bear the Butcher, Paris, Banyan, possibly others. The Vanaras side - Every active herd member we can find and some NPCs. The skinwalkers bring their full force against the herd when the Vanaras are most vulnerable - at night. The battle is bloody. Tinúviel may die or disappear. In the end, the skinwalkers are driven off, but their are two last stands I would like to see. Calixte hunts down Rishy, tracking her through the forest, after the battle. They have a confrontation as mothers, and Calixte finally understands that, as a skinwalker, Rishy actually feels no bond to her children and doesn't really act as a mother, which is the difference between them, though they might have both used their children as pawns for their own aims at different points. This understanding comes at a price, though, and I would like to see Rishy severely wound her and leave her to die, which is Rishy's last gift to the herd - killing one of its leaders and leaving them to mourn. Someone finds Cali and stops the bleeding, but they cannot save some part of her, though what part, I haven't figured out yet. Kenton is blinded on the battlefield, and his last stand could be against Banyan and his betrayal. He would only hear Banyan's voice, worming its way into his conscious, as Banyan left. In the end, both Calixte and Kenton are heartbroken and bleeding, and I would like to stop it where they are both bleakly awaiting death. The role that the three girls and Drako play in the battle is as yet unknown to me. ♣ Aftermath: Calixte, Kenton, the Vanaras, Bedwyr (unicorn healer). In the days after the attack, the Vanaras try to find their dead, though some were dragged off by the Butcher (my bearwalker) or have disappeared altogether. Kenton tries to deal with the betrayal and the whole leading family falls under scrutiny for being so blind to the snake in their midst. Along with losing whatever body part Rishy took from her, Calixte miscarries the foals she didn't know she was carrying. Bedwyr, a unicorn healer, comes on his route with his mate and possibly their children and sets to work on the herd, though it is too late to save Kenton's eyesight. Cali and Kenton try to put the pieces together of the herd that once stood so strong. Cali tells the herd that Rishy would not return. They are in pain and are suffering and mourning, but they have not died, and decide to stand strong for the herd that has lost so much, leading by example even though their own children may have been lost. ♣ The Whispers on the Wind: Calixte, Kenton, Drako, Kali Lillian, the Vanaras. Kali comes to soothe the Vanaras' fears of the quality of the leading family in her own way - by confirming that Banyan is altogether an outlier of the family, the only bad one in the bunch. Kenton could, with Cali's blessing, find out what has happened to the rest of his family in this plot, or go on a hunt for them. ♣ Conclusions: After witnessing so much death and loss, Calixte, Kenton, and other herd members perform a rebirthing ceremony on the land, reclaiming it as the herd's and wiping it clean of all the destruction that has happened. They lead the herd toward a higher purpose, now that they know the pain of loss and how much all life should be cherished: they lift the Cerynei-only restriction on membership (or something equally groundbreaking for them) in the face of the destruction that was wrought even by their own kind. They bring healers in from everywhere they can and teach healing, both emotionally and physically, to all the members of their herd, as well as combat for whatever next strike may come. ♣
Character Concept: Calixte was either the inspiration for or was inspired by my ex-quest, Areion. She was his beautiful piece of nature, the most serious of the nymphs in Greece. She fell hard for him - he, the son of gods in soquili form, had chosen her above her sister, Calandra, who was renowned as the "singing bird." When he found her tending the fallen Pegasus, however, the ugly jealousy that manifested in him broke her heart. He fled from Greece for the shame, heading to the New World. She followed him on the next available ship and arrived in the Kawani Lands, desperate to find him. She began as the traditional Greek dryad, the caretaker of a forest, but her birth was a bit different - rather than being sired by the gods, Cali was borne by the forest out of need for a caretaker. She was won from the flaffle at the very end of the World of Warcraft event, [here]. As I had no knowledge of what dryads did in the game, she became a Greek dryad. Her design is very similar to that of Alinia, a dryad in-game.
Name: Tinúviel. Meaning: Nightingale, daughter of twilight - Sindarin. Nickname: Tin, Tin-Tin (both are foalhood nicknames; Tin is still used frequently.)
Personality: Tinúviel has gone through much change in her short life, and as a result, her personality is very dynamic: it all depends on the situation. After she popped from her basket, she was a little spitfire, causing all sorts of trouble with her younger brother, who lived in an innocent world. They were the first two foals born to the Vanaras and were raised as prized children - they got away with a lot, at least with their parents. Tin still retains bits and pieces of her former silliness and playfulness, but most of it was erased when she and her brother were attacked by purewalkers. After that, she became the responsible older sibling, but she was by no means perfect - she was still a bit jealous of the attention her brother received, especially after the attack. If she has nothing but idle time, her mind will wander and she might become anxious or listless over worries of the past. However, Tin has come to find that dancing (taught to her by her mother) relieves a lot of her tension.
She can be a bit sneaky and went through a rebellious teenage phase, when she would leave the herd to do her own thing, usually dancing by herself or exploring, which was forbidden for a time after the attack, as the woods were unsafe. This was the time when her talent for dancing began to shine through, though most of it was kept a secret: she had found a dancing partner in the form of Pachelbel, a friend who would later become her mate. Eventually, Tin's fears overtook her and she explained to him her history with the purewalkers. Now bent on protecting those that she loves, Tin has taken up combat training and has become one of the Herd Guard - a far stretch from her mother's dream of making her the future Mistress of Ceremonies. The divide over duty still stands between the pair, and Tin meets much of what her mother says or suggests with rebellion and frustration.

Series of roleplays will include: ♣ Tin helping take care of her mother after the attack, changing her leaves and such. ♣ Self-roleplay: Picking her way along the border of the woods, where she is no longer allowed, moping about her brother. ♣ Tin and Cali argue over how she should be apprenticed - Cali wants her to be her own apprentice, but Tin wants to do anything but that. Frustrated, Cali tries to convince her by showing Tin to dance... Tin takes only the lessons and leaves the apprenticeship. ♣ Self-roleplay: Still without a future, Tin speculates on what she wants to be when she grows up. As she has decided that she likes the dance, she picks Storyteller... but with a twist: she wants to tell stories with her body, rather than words. So she decides that the term "Entertainer" would be a better fit and that she won't need a mentor. She will teach herself. ♣ Tin tells her mother that she will be an Entertainer for the herd, like at ceremonies and stuff, but won't actually be performing any rituals. Cali is skeptical, but is glad that Tin has at least decided on something and seems to be following through with it, and lets it go. ♣ Self-roleplay: Tin teaches herself to dance better, using her tail. She didn't learn much about it because her mother's is short... Also contemplates the difference between herself and her parents and other herdmates... Leads to wonderings about whether Kenton is her biological father. ♣ Tin asks her mother about her father. This is where the rift between them begins to grow - she doesn't like having been lied to. She is now a young adult, has possibly already met Pachelbel. ♣ Figures out she wants to be a guard and asks Kenton for training. ♣ More things.

Personality: Ithillún is an oddball among her family, though both of her twisted sisters are, as well. Lún was very, very quiet as a foal, learning everything she could: how flowers worked, how bees worked, how trees worked, how her mother's and sisters' "voices of the forest" seemed to work. All she wanted to do was watch, wait, and learn, before finally judging whether or not she would pursue something further. Silent most of the time but extremely playful with her family, Lún's world was rocked when she and her twisted sisters were attacked during playtime. The purewalkers struck at the heart of the family for a second time, and history was repeated. Lún became even quieter after the attack; her views of right and wrong became concrete. Her silence, however, had a new purpose: rather than allowing herself to absorb information as wholly as possible, it became a defense mechanism. Being silent gave her time to judge whether something (or someone) was "good" or "bad," in her limited view of each. Her judgments were based on her observations, as much on the way someone acts as the way someone talks.
She has discovered, however, much to her disdain, that some individuals are unavoidable or do not need judgment, as they are inherently pure. Those who are unavoidable are the ones who insist on talking to her despite her silence, and eventually goad her enough to get her to talk back. Those who do not need judgment are those that are "pure" and "good" in Lún's eyes: foals, her family, and flowers. Lún has a connection with flowers that she has been unable to replicate with other soquili, or even Cerynei. To her, they are perfectly good, without flaws. One of her favorite things to do is stare at them, just to absorb their beauty. She hates bugs, as they defile the purity of her flowers, but there are a few select species that she does not shoo away, thanks to her friend Retrieve, who showed her that bugs can be just as interesting as flowers.
Due to Lún's relationship with flowers, her relationship with the Gatherers and her mother is sometimes strained, as they all pick flowers, whether it be to dry for a variety of uses or for ceremonies. However, she has begun to cultivate a garden with the help of her sisters, the Gatherers, and with Retrieve's knowledge of bugs - the garden will minimize the Gatherers' need to pick wild flowers.
Lún is currently her apprenticed to her mother. She may be found wandering at night sometimes; her glowing flowers and eyes allow her to stay up with good vision. Unlike her sisters, Lún is aware that she has excellent hearing - her "voice of the forest" is silent. Instead, she must concentrate very hard to access the part of her that has retained her mother's hearing, as her own trait for exceptional hearing is somewhat diminished.
In short, Ithillún is very perceptive and has strong opinions about the difference between "good" and "evil," or at least her ideas of the two. Generally either silent or very quiet, she usually only speaks or allows her playful nature to come out when around family or friends, and she does not talk to strangers. Touch her flowers and she'll hiss at you. Or something equally menacing.
History: Ithillún's heritage flows deep in her veins. She is Cerynei and Dryad to the core, and both cultures have had great influence on her upbringing. [In-depth write-up later.]

Character Concept: Lún was inspired by my ideas of elves; she's very nature-oriented and aware of changes around her, and also very attached to her flora. She was named in Sindarin, partly for the twisted nature of her conception and partly for the influence of Tolkien's work on her family. Her name was originally Lúnithil ("blue moon"), but I liked Ithillún ("moon, blue") better. I still say that her name means "blue moon," though.
Name: Lynnea. Meaning: Named after the Linnaea/twinflower. Nickname: None at the moment.

Children: None. Parents: Father was pink, mother was green. Siblings: One or more brothers, perhaps a sister. Mate: Eventually Cheveyo.
Personality: Lynnea is sweet, but relatively closed-off to others. Though she may seem very shy and demure, that isn't all that there is to her - the reason she acts this way is one part history and one part genuine. She has a rebellious streak in her, but she has yet to show it off in the Kawani Lands.
History: Lynnea's past is a complicated one. Born north of the Kawani Lands - where it is cold almost all year long - her people survived the predators by being very selective and careful about their unions. Like many species of birds, males were showy and females were camouflaged; if a female was born without a camouflaged coat, she would be made to adorn herself branches laden with snow. Along with these camouflage requirements came a patriarchal society. Lynnea was raised in its period of degradation, though: females were being kept under tighter watch and trying to rebel and run from the will of their father/male next-of-kin. She never had issue with the system until her father told her that she must mate with a male of his choosing - one that she did not know or love, and all for the sake of duty. To keep the next generation safe. Despite her qualms, however, she agreed to meet the male. He never showed up, and her father said that word of her meekness must have reached him - that she had dishonored him. Livid, she stewed for three days before leaving in the depths of night. More about the culture of Lynnea's North:
The culture of the Deer Tribes of the North is similar to a very restrictive, honor-bound society. Males rule, complete with a hierarchy of titles. Their wealth is measured by their ability to provide for their does and foals, and also by their number of daughters with well-camouflaged coats. Females are judged based on their coats - white, grey, and black are highly prized, while flashy (pink, purple, bright blue, yellow) colors are viewed with slight disdain and pity. Dark greens are on the high-middle section of the scale, as are browns; the North is blanketed with forests of fir, pine, and other evergreen. Bright greens, like Lynnea's, only see much interest in the spring and summer, when snowmelt feeds the grass and brings out wildflowers. Flashy colors are generally seen only on males, whose antlers allow them to protect themselves. Females are betrothed soon after reaching adulthood, and it is tradition to introduce a pair of foals (that are possibly a match) to each other to see if they might, later, be bound by both love and duty.
Males in the North generally have only one mate at a time, though having several mates is not uncommon if a male can afford them. They are very duty-bound; a buck who does not keep his word, or his mate, is looked down on, as the whole of their society is built on honesty and trust: without each other, they could not survive. Males who have close female kin (usually a daughter or a sister) are bound to find them a suitable mate. Young males may be charged with finding a mate for their mother or aunt if they are their closest kin.
While the female coloration is held to a very high standard, male coloration is not. Flashy males are often warriors, as they attract much more attention from predators, while grayscale/camouflage-type males are seen as a safe choice for females who did not receive such coloring. If the female bloodline of a family has failed to produce a camouflaged or predominantly green/brown coloring for several generations, their mating options will be severely limited and may be nonexistent altogether - these bloodlines often become the poorest families of the North, dying out over a few decades.
Unlike the Kawani Cerynei does, the does of the North almost always have antlers, and their kin sometimes find mates for them specifically for large antlers - like camouflage, antlers are seen as a way to protect the potentially defenseless doe. A doe that is missing antlers is usually looked down on with pity if she is also missing a camouflaged coat, but does with small antlers and a camouflaged coat often come from the wealthier families, as they usually have the resources to hire guards. The same goes for does with large antlers and a non-camouflage coloring; wealthy families take pride in being able to protect their does from harm by hiring guards. In fact, wealthy families are often the ones that begin to breed flashy mares - such a practice has been the downfall of many families.
Guards are usually sworn to protect a specific family, and sometimes specific family members. Guards come from families who pledge a foal to another family to be trained; often, this agreement is a benefit of a betrothal. Traditional guards are sent away from home to be fostered with the family they will guard and are trained by the eldest and most experienced guard, who is often the guard of the patriarch's mate. Guards are usually the same gender as their charge, but it ultimately depends upon who they are assigned to after their training. By the time a traditional guard reaches adulthood, they are ready to serve the family that they were born to protect. A traditional right of passage for young guards is the Long Wait: now a young adult, the guard waits for a predator to attack them and fights "to the death," though if things get too bloody, an older guard will step in. "To the death" usually applies only to the predator.
Foals who are sent away to be fostered are usually chosen from a batch of three baskets; when they emerge, a foal of whichever gender there is two is picked to be sent away. If they complain or cry, it is seen as a childish dishonor to their duty. Therefore, the foal who is destined to be sent away is often told from their emergence day that their true family is waiting for them elsewhere. In the case of daughters, it is a courtesy to send the doe with bigger antlers, despite her coat color. If does are born with small antlers or without them altogether, they will be trained by a specialized mentor to protect their sworn family. Such mentors travel from family to family, wherever there is a need, and may train several foals at once.
Traditional guards usually serve their sworn family for twelve years, two of which are for training. By this time, there will usually be a foal for them to train as a new guard. If there is no new foal, they are given a choice: serving until one comes along, or choosing a non-traditional guard to take their place. Choosing a non-traditional guard is usually the choice that a guard will make if they think their biological family needs them or if they feel the need to start a family of their own.
Non-traditional guards are warriors who were not trained as a guard from birth, but rather learned to fight and protect as a means of survival; they usually come from poorer families who are looking for a way to reach the wealthy ones, or were orphaned and forced to find their own fortune. Usually male and scarred, if they have a camouflaged coat and strong antlers, it is not unusual for a wealthy family to betroth a non-traditional guard to the daughter he is guarding.
