Rina swam in quiet circles around a rock formation in the middle of a large lake. She hadn't been here very long but she did like this place. I was prettier than most of the places she'd swam through and more interesting. During quiet observation of her surrounding she'd noticed others like her. Little swimming horse and even a bigger version that, while interesting, was lightly scarier. Even more interesting were the four legged beasts that drank at the edges of the lake. Horses she'd seen. Horses with this many colors attachments and bangles she had not. But then she and them were cousins. She knew that. Perhaps beautiful coloring was just a rampant as it was with her own species. He thoughts wandered and flitted but her tummy knew what it wanted and reminded her with a quiet grumble so she headed toward some lake weed for a snack.

Amitola was, once again, hovering by the mouth of her cave. Recently, the lake seemed to have had a rise in population, if only by a few creatures. She smiled. It would be nice to maybe have some neighbors for once, rather than being completely alone with just herself and her things.

She took a deep breath a spun a cheerful circle, humming. Today would be a good day. Ami could feel it singing in her blood. Still humming, she swam down to the feeding grounds, greeting some of her friends along the way. Bonaventure was probably hiding out somewhere with his irregularly large belly, brooding. Still, Ami wouldn't let that get her down. He wasn't that much fun to be around anyway.

Chomping happily on some lakeweed, Ami gleefully let the tiny current pull her around.

Absently Rina chewed on lakeweed and continued to let her mind wander until she chewed a hole and into view came the head of another Seathi. She whinnied with surprise and shook her head, swimming backward a few inches. But the colorful head was interesting enough for her to swim forward again and investigate. "Umm...yeah...sorry...hello." She bobbed her head in welcome and tried to present her best side through the hole in the lakeweed. "Forgive me for starting. I'm sure you're not scary or threatening. I'm just a loner most of the time...and I guess excitable. Nerina. Charmed I'm sure." She tried to grin winningly and hoped she hadn't acted too weird.

Ami smiled at the seathi in front of her. It'd startled her a little, but that was fine. She was obviously a friendly girl. Amitola smiled good natured-ly. "Hey," Ami said, swallowing her lakeweed. "I'm Amitola, pleased to meet you. You new here? I haven't seen you around."

She tried not to notice those weird red eyes Nerina had, but it was hard. Instead, she occupied herself by swimming around to the other side of Nerina's patch of lakeweed so she could see all of the mare. She was nearly all black - but the oddest part Ami thought about was her eyes and mane. How many seathi had manes?

Amitola didn't have a mane. She had fins all the way up and down and everywhere. All the Seathi Rina had ever met or seen had manes and the minimum amount of fins. Rina had the strange urge to poke the long fin on Amitola's tail. What the heck was that thing used for? Did it make her swim better? It was certainly a lot of nonsense for simple forward momentum. "Why do you have so many fins? Are they really needed?" Rina tilted her head and blinked a few times and fought the urge to poke Ami with a hoof.

"Umm...." Ami looked around. Maybe fins was a lake thing? "I dunno, I've always had fins. My parents had them too. Is that weird or something?" she asked, curious. She decided to wait for an answer before asking her own questions - she didn't want to be offensive. There weren't many seathi around the lake - it'd be nice if one was around. She didn't want to scare Nerina away.

Rina tilted her head and nodded. "I guess it don't matter. You sure are pretty anyway even for being bald." She tried to grin winningly and then swam around Ami in a circle. "I kinda wish i had your pretty rainbow colors. But then, don't you think I'm pretty too. Your should have a nice male friend." She nods to herself then turns back to the lake-weed to take a bit and chew thoughtfully.

Amitola raised her little blue eyebrows. Bald? Couldn't that be seen as offensive? She mentally shrugged. Here in the lake, it was a commonality to be bald. "Of course you're pretty!" Ami insisted. "You have that beautiful multi-colored mane, and simple markings are really pretty these days." With a decisive nod, Ami made sure that Rina understood before snorting at her "nice male friend" comment.

"Well, I did have a 'nice' male friend, once." Ami spat the word nice with derisiveness. Then she thought again. "He did leave me my daughter, though..." she said, taking another chomp out of lakeweed. "She has a mane like he did..."

Rina's head tilted. "Did? Meaning past? You don't like him now? And thank you! I think I'm pretty. Bug eyed yes. Scare people with them sometimes." She grinned and plucked at a lock of her mane with a hoof. "But you like your daughter at least. But not her mane?" She clucked and her muzzle seemed to scrunch in thought. "Perhaps it's time to look for something new? I'm in the market for nice boy myself. Or something. What's your daughter like?"
PostPosted: Sat Jan 15, 2011 11:45 pm

Amitola laughed. "Oh yes, meaning past. He was nice at first... Turned out to be a love-'em-and-leave-'em kind," she said, sorrow seeping into her voice. Bonaventure - the beautiful, indigo boy with the flashy mane. He was so perfect, but only in looks. "I can sort of say that I miss him, though," she mused. "I'm not really looking for a guy... Just running into them here and there. I'm more looking for... one I can spend the rest of my life with, y'know?"

Resisting the very-present urge to drift into thoughts of what could have been, Ami shook her head. "My daughter is Ilyrana - Illy is what I call her - she's a bard at heart. She sings and likes pretty things; wants to travel like she wants my lake-glass collection." She laughed a little laugh like a bell tinkling. "And, whether I like it or not, she's got her father's mane and she's gorgeous. Going to attract a lot of attention when she's older." Running low on things to say, Ami said, "Have you met any nice guys?"
