Overview of Plots Outlined So Far

Future Near-Certain or Certain Happenings: (NOT in order.) Herd is attacked by purewalkers (all consequences ensue). Banyan joins the Vanaras for a short term. Kenton assumes leadership. Kenton and Cali bring in trainers to train the herd after first attack and the attack by the cursedwalker. Cali fertility issues.

Plots to be Explored:
Early roleplays: Limited to two or three that we've already done (Forest Folk & the like), showing that they're both kind of more shallow than they will be at the end, when they know pain and love and loss. For the Herd: Calixte, Kenton, & Vanaras members. Cali and Kenton announce to the herd that they are having children, possibly to lighten the atmosphere with foals. The more I think about this, the more I don't see this going over well, because a few might be supportive, but I think most would be like, "...you should be having foals for yourselves, not us...." [At the end of For the Herd - Some Kind of Denial: Calixte & Kenton. They deal with how they feel about the herd's reaction and try to talk it out. Fayearan could come up in the conversation?] Children of the Vanaras: Calixte, Kenton, and possibly a midwife soq or NPC. Tinúviel and Enaran are born to the herd and placed in their baskets; Enaran won't appear as anything more than a little pink foal, one of two placed in baskets, and neither of the two foals will really be anything more than an object. [At the end of Children of the Vanaras - Presentations: Calixte, Kenton, the baskets of Tinúviel & Enaran, Vanaras members. The baskets are presented to the herd, probably with mixed feelings all around, but mostly congratulations. Cali and Kenton can reflect to how it went at the end, maybe settle into their nest. In the morning, or some morning, the baskets' colors have changed, and when Cali sees Tin's basket color, she freaks. So this is her reaction of "oh gods, what a mistake I've made." Maybe there could be some tension between Cali and Kenton here, especially if he sees the baskets as their children, no matter who the father is, and can't see why she's freaking out about it?] Emergence: Calixte, Kenton, Tinúviel. Tin emerges from her basket (we only see her because Enaran is MIA) and Calixte immediately feels a disconnect. She looks nothing like Kenton, nor even a lot like her, and even though the filly loves her, Cali just feels like she doesn't know how to react around her. When Kenton notices Cali staring senselessly at Tin, I think he could show her a little love, take her around the herdlands and let Cali sit on her feelings for a little bit. When Kenton and Tin come back from their tour, Cali is ready to name her, having reflected on her feelings and deciding that if Tin doesn't look like her, perhaps she can be like her and connect with her in another way - through training her as the apprentice Mistress of Ceremonies. Apprenticeship: Calixte, Tinúviel, Kenton. This would be like a series of little RPs in the same thread with different incidents through Tin's training. I want her to confide in her dad a little and perhaps have him bring it up to Cali that Tin doesn't want to be Mistress of Ceremonies when she grows up. Cali assures him (in denial) that this isn't true, and eventually, Tin finds the courage (perhaps with Kenton's help) to stand up to her mom and tell her flat out that she won't do it. Cali doesn't understand... I think this could unfold a variety of ways, probably with some silent treatment on Tin's part. It'll end with Cali and Tin giving begrudging forgiveness, perhaps at Kenton's behest. Tip of the Iceberg (with additions): Rishy, Frostbite, Calixte, Kenton, Tinúviel, Enaran + active herd members and outside instructors. Rishy and Frostbite attack Tinúviel and Enaran while they are at play. This is mostly finished, but I think we need to add on some reflections to the end of it. At the end, everyone was still in shock, but we could see them raising the alarm and setting the guard on alert before sleeping on their plan for the night, and reflecting on what they need to do in the morning, completely panicked and trying to figure out the next rational action. They could bring their plan before a council and set it in motion. For this, we need active herd members and possibly need to bring in outsiders to arrange combat lessons. We can end with the herd being on their way to being satisfactorily prepared for the next strike. Biological Children: Calixte, Kenton, Amaltheia, Faun, Ithillún, possibly Rishy & Frostbite. Series of little RPs in one thread. Part 1: Cali tells Kenton that she is pregnant, possibly a year or two after the purewalker attack, when everything seems peaceful. They announce to the herd that they're expecting. Part 2: When nine months have passed, Cali gives birth, but it's not really a miracle of life, as the last time was. They were conceived under a twisted moon, and she thinks that that is the reason for so much agony and blood in the birth, so much so that she almost dies. The three foals are placed in their baskets and Cali barely survives the next three nights. For all the hardship, though, she loves her baskets, and feels much more of a bond with them than she did with her other two, which makes her feel a little guilty. I would love to see Frostbite or Rishy witness the birth or smell the blood and decide here that they will come back for some tender foal meat when the babies have emerged... Part 3: The three girls emerge from their baskets, to everyone's delight. Tin is their default babysitter, though she and Cali or Kenton might have to have a talk with older sister about her responsibilities. All is well at the end of this RP. Home Sweet [Temporary] Home: Calixte, Tinúviel, Pachelbel Amachi, possibly Kenton. Tin has dreams about the skinwalkers attacking Pachelbel. When she brings him home after talking to her mother and running off to find him, Cali lets him stay. At the end of it, I'd like Cali to tell Kenton that Tin has been having dreams of the purewalker attack, even though it has been years since it has happened. Some sort of dread settles over them, but they don't know the full horror of what could have happened - the skinwalkers let them off easy, after all. The Night is Dark & Full of Terrors: Calixte, Tinúviel, Ithillún, Pachelbel Amachi, Lynnea, Bedwyr, Kenton. A cursedwalker attacks Ithillún and Tinúviel, putting the herd back on high alert. This happens perhaps a month after Pach came to stay with the herd because of Tin's dreams. At the end, Frostbite and Rishy could come back and wait and watch because they've smelled/heard of someone lurking around the edge of their territory and their delicious herd of meat. Kenton and Cali have their conversation about his becoming leader, and he is inaugurated soon thereafter. Drako could find the herd around this time. A Darkness Whole and Complete: Frostbite, Rishy, Calixte, Kenton, Tinúviel, Pachelbel Amachi, Ithillún, Faun, Amaltheia, Drako, Banyan. Frostbite attacks Tinúviel and Pachelbel in their dancing meadow a little ways outside the herdlands while Rishy ambushes Cali, Kenton, and the fillies during playtime. I think this would be a great time for Banyan to come in - he could pop up and help Tin and Pach in their remote location while Drako and other herd members chase Rishy into the forest. When Cali and Kenton realize that Tin and Pach are unaccounted for, they rush into the forest to try to find them, only to find them with Banyan, who might be the only reason they survived. Once everybody is done thanking him and the "who are you?" question is asked, he could drop the "I'm your grandson" bomb on Kenton and announce that Drako is his brother, throwing the herd into a little gossipy chaos. While everyone is regrouping, Banyan could find Rishy or Frostbite and suggest he spy for them and somehow worm his way into their "good graces," if walkers have those. He saw how weak the Vanaras were against two skinwalkers, after all. At the end, he reappears at sundown, and Cali and Kenton can have a sitdown with he and Drako and figure out just what the heck is going on with the family. Drako professes his love of Zenstar, and to bring light to the traumatic events, three ceremonies are held: Banyan is inaugurated into the herd, Drako and Zenstar are lifemated, and Cali and Kenton are officially ceremonially lifemated. Infertility: Calixte, Kenton, outsiders. Now that they are officially lifemated, Cali and Kenton are having trouble conceiving. It's been months, possibly years since the skinwalkers attacked, but they have not made the same mistake - they are not complacent. Despite being fit and healthy, Cali's womb remains barren, and she does everything natural she can to try to make herself fertile again (here we get her trying different herbs, taking special baths, etc.). Eventually, she decides that she was right when she had such a hard labor - she needs to lift the curse she thinks has been placed on her by the twisted moon under which she conceived her last children. She sees seers, witches, wishes on stars, but nothing works. I want to see hers and Kenton's relationship go through strain and struggle in this phase of their life, and eventually, one of them has to snap her out of it. She will be devastated, but she will go back to somewhat functioning. The Prodigal Daughter: Calixte, Kenton, Tinúviel. Tin expresses her desire to move from being a dancer/entertainer to becoming a full time herd guard. Cali is, of course, totally against the idea - her relationship issues with Tin will resolve here, probably after a shouting match. She doesn't want to send her first daughter into a combat situation. Tin will get her way, though, and Kenton and Cali should have a chat about it, as well as what they should consider for their other three daughters. [I think... I may seriously consider killing Tin in the last stand. o.o I have to talk it over with her mate's owner, first. Perhaps she and Pach will disappear, letting Cali think that my butcher bearwalker got a hold of them. But that's for a later plot.] The Last Stand: Skinwalkers' side - Rishy, Frostbite, Bear the Butcher, Paris, Banyan, possibly others. The Vanaras side - Every active herd member we can find and some NPCs. The skinwalkers bring their full force against the herd when the Vanaras are most vulnerable - at night. The battle is bloody. Tinúviel may die or disappear. In the end, the skinwalkers are driven off, but their are two last stands I would like to see. Calixte hunts down Rishy, tracking her through the forest, after the battle. They have a confrontation as mothers, and Calixte finally understands that, as a skinwalker, Rishy actually feels no bond to her children and doesn't really act as a mother, which is the difference between them, though they might have both used their children as pawns for their own aims at different points. This understanding comes at a price, though, and I would like to see Rishy severely wound her and leave her to die, which is Rishy's last gift to the herd - killing one of its leaders and leaving them to mourn. Someone finds Cali and stops the bleeding, but they cannot save some part of her, though what part, I haven't figured out yet. Kenton is blinded on the battlefield, and his last stand could be against Banyan and his betrayal. He would only hear Banyan's voice, worming its way into his conscious, as Banyan left. In the end, both Calixte and Kenton are heartbroken and bleeding, and I would like to stop it where they are both bleakly awaiting death. The role that the three girls and Drako play in the battle is as yet unknown to me. Aftermath: Calixte, Kenton, the Vanaras, Bedwyr (unicorn healer). In the days after the attack, the Vanaras try to find their dead, though some were dragged off by the Butcher (my bearwalker) or have disappeared altogether. Kenton tries to deal with the betrayal and the whole leading family falls under scrutiny for being so blind to the snake in their midst. Along with losing whatever body part Rishy took from her, Calixte miscarries the foals she didn't know she was carrying. Bedwyr, a unicorn healer, comes on his route with his mate and possibly their children and sets to work on the herd, though it is too late to save Kenton's eyesight. Cali and Kenton try to put the pieces together of the herd that once stood so strong. Cali tells the herd that Rishy would not return. They are in pain and are suffering and mourning, but they have not died, and decide to stand strong for the herd that has lost so much, leading by example even though their own children may have been lost. The Whispers on the Wind: Calixte, Kenton, Drako, Kali Lillian, the Vanaras. Kali comes to soothe the Vanaras' fears of the quality of the leading family in her own way - by confirming that Banyan is altogether an outlier of the family, the only bad one in the bunch. Kenton could, with Cali's blessing, find out what has happened to the rest of his family in this plot, or go on a hunt for them. Conclusions: After witnessing so much death and loss, Calixte, Kenton, and other herd members perform a rebirthing ceremony on the land, reclaiming it as the herd's and wiping it clean of all the destruction that has happened. They lead the herd toward a higher purpose, now that they know the pain of loss and how much all life should be cherished: they lift the Cerynei-only restriction on membership (or something equally groundbreaking for them) in the face of the destruction that was wrought even by their own kind. They bring healers in from everywhere they can and teach healing, both emotionally and physically, to all the members of their herd, as well as combat for whatever next strike may come.
