It had been a dull few days where Catori usually roamed and called home. The weather had been extremely damp and gloomy. Normally she would go swimming but the ocean looked so angry she headed her gut instinct and had stayed out of the water. So today she decided would be the perfect day to go exploring. The sky looked a little lighter than it had, and even though it was still damp out she took this as a good sign.
Catori slowly made her way in land, climbing a sandy dune to reach solid ground. With a flick of her fin the mare brushed all the excess sand off her legs she could, being careful not to cut herself on her fishing lure. She glanced at the thing with a smile. How she came about it was a story in it’s own right. But the little lure made her smile on those lonely days. With a shake of her head she decided to move on. Catori wandered around slowly further inland watching the plant life shift as she moved in from the beach. She had never really been that far inland but all of a sudden was keen on doing so. Quickening her pace Catori moved on, eventually finding herself walking in a shallow stream. She watched as the plant life went from thin grassy plants, to some trees, and then the grass became green and lush. She stopped at times to smell flowers and smile over flitting creatures. So far her adventure was going swimmingly.
Catori kept pushing on and going further, all the while swishing along in the stream. Eventually the mare came upon the tree line of the forest. She stopped and looked up at the tall trees in awe, careening her head back as far as she could to see the tops. “Whoa….so beautiful..” She spoke softly. Slowly Catori pushed on, having to abandon the stream, as it became a rocky trickle. She stayed as close as possible to it, as it was her only marker to find her way back. The brightly colored mare was unfamiliar with the ways of the forest. Struggling through some dense brush getting and managing to get some caught in her hair Catori found the trickle turning back into a stream. She decided to forge through the dense brush considerably slowing her progress. Spotting a good place to rest she moved toward it, only to get caught in some vines. “Curses!” This was why her father was always fussing to pay attention. She growled as she attempted to free herself. Taking a deep breath to keep herself from becoming too frustrated, she took a swipe at the vines with the spiked side of her tail. With a stumble, covered with twigs and leaves she broke into the resting place.
