Ilyrana floated gleefully along, Orlando at her side. They were busy picking over the rippled, white-sand sea floor, looking for anything that even minutely sparkled. Orlando was especially obsessed, forcing Illy to hook anything especially pretty that she found in the pearl strands that looped around his body. He was always zipping ahead in front of her, or lingering behind to examine the sand.
Ilyrana herself was extremely content - the day was dawning beautifully. She began to hum a song her mother had sung to her about the morning. "Orlando!" she called to her spazzy dolphin friend, who was falling behind again. "Come on!"
"No, wait, I think I've found something," he replied, beckoning with a fin.
Illy made her way over. Sure enough, Orlando had found a rock - but it wasn't just any rock. It was a shipwreck rock - one with a pit at the bottom. The waves crashed against it when it was rough, and unsuspecting canoes and kayaks and the sailing ships that sometimes crossed the sea were pulled against it, breaking on the jagged monolith. And somewhere in the depths of the impenetrable blackness of that pit, flickers of gold and opals shone toward them. Even Illy knew something too risky when she saw it - they could get sucked into that pit and starve down there, or worse, get speared on the way down.
Shaking her head, she swam in front of Orlando. "We are not going down there. End of discussion. It's too dangerous."

Ichthian scooted along the sea bed inspecting the white sands carefully for any hint of shiny items lying in wait. he stopped and padded at a suspicious spot with a hoof. Nope just a blade of seaweed, nothing more. Truth be told he liked shiny hunting and had a sneaking suspicion that his son got his obsession from his father. Ichthian grinned mischievously. Speaking of whom, Clover should be around here somewhere. "Clover!" he called. Not letting his sons absence interupt his shiny hunting Ichthian continued to scan the seabed. The biggest question was, if he found something particularly beautiful, how was he to get it home and past old eagle eyes. He wanted to give Menthe something and he didn't know a seathi who didn't like one kind of shiny or another.

Clover was chasing after Guardian because the otter had found something shiny and was MUNCHING on it. The young seathi knew that it wasn't a fish because, well he seen shiny fish and they didn't look like that. "Guardian, why are you eating that?" His fins were being worked as he tried to keep up with the lazily swimming otter.
Before he got close enough, his fathers voice pulled him up short. He turned to look down at the seabed and found his dad. Sulking at being called away from the otter, he went to see what Ichthian was calling him for. "Dad, you pulled me away from Guardian and the shiny she is munching on."

Some way off in the distance, Ilyrana spotted movement. No longer paying attention to Orlando, she craned her neck for a better look over his head. "Do you see that, Orlando?" she asked, but was met with silence.
"Hello?" she called, waving with a hoof. She saw before her what looked like two seathi stallions and an otter, which looked like it was having the time of its life eating something.
Turning and looking down into the pit, she saw a gleam of something white, but shrugged it off as an opal or a wayward pearl from a ship that had been pulled down into the bottom. She looked around for Orlando, but could not find him. Annoyed, she figured that he'd gone off to look for his own treasure and to sulk. She called out to the figures in the distance again. "Come over here!"

"Yes well, I was trying to keep track of you Clover, it's a big sea out there and we are quite small creatures and this is, as of yet, unfamiliar territory." Ichthian cautioned his son. "Oh look at that! Is that a gold shimmery shiny that you and your mother like so much?" Ichthian pointed with a hoof at some gold trinket poking out of the sand. He thought he heard something and cocked his head. It sounded like someone calling from far away. His head came up and he scanned the horizon. It seemed they were being hailed by a lady seathi. he hoped she wasn't in trouble. "Clover, who is that? Do you know her?" Ichthian asked his son.

"But Daaaddd! Shiny." Clover points at what the otter has in her mouth. He turns to look at what his father pointed towards. It appeared to be something that his mother would like. As he started to swim towards it, his dad calls him again.
"I don't know her." He swam in place talking. "I guess we can go see what she wants."
