Name: Velma Hawkins
Nicknames: #48 Blitzkrieg
Age: 1719 22
Birthday: April 14
Sign: Aries
Gemstone: Bloodstone
Blood Type: A+
Fav. Food: Strawberry Shortcake Hated Food: Tomatoes
School: Romano's Constitutional Haven
Hobbies: Horseback Riding: Velma has spent her entire life around horses, growing up on a ranch in the rolling hills of the British Isles. She learned how to ride before learning how to walk, and she feels at home most cleaning out stables and riding horses. When her family moved to the USA when she was fifteen, she immediately demanded to find a horse ranch to ride and work at. She currently works on the weekends at the local horse ranch. She's decent at jumping, thought prefers to ride for fun rather competition.
Roller Derby: Velma got into roller derby when a school mate took her to a game, and got her to play a game. She's not usually a competitive sort, but put roller skates on and Velma can get down right viciously competitive. She enjoys the rush that roller derby gives you, and currently plays as a dedicated scorer for her speed and small size. She aspires to co-lead the Destiny City Blitz Girls someday, and is one of the highest scoring players in the inter-city league so far.
Virtues: Natural Leader: In a leaderless group, Velma will try to always take charge. She has an ease with leading groups that most others do not, though she's not always successful if someone else takes it first. She commands people well, on and off the derby court, and rarely snaps or talks down to the people she's leading. Velma does tend to bark orders though, and it's more of a 'command' and less a democratic leadership should the group decide her way is not, in fact, the way to do things.
Committed: When Velma decides to do something, she sticks it out for the long haul. Be it join the roller derby team or learning to ride a horse, Velma does not take "can't do it" and failure as options. She might falter and fail, but she does not give up on a task if things don't go well the first, second or 80th time. She is just as committed to her schoolwork as to her extra-curriculars, putting in the same level of energy into both. It's one of the reasons she's one of the league's highest scoring players, while keeping exceptional marks in her studies. Not the perfect student by any means, but she gives it her best no matter what.
Flaws: Self-Centered: You know that 'friend' who always seems to talk about themselves and butt into conversations to express their opinion, and make everything about them? That's Velma. She can't go more than five minutes without interjecting her opinion - that is the right opinion mind you - on conversations. If something is going on in her life, that's all the group hears about. Moreover, while Velma may be part of a team, she rarely thinks of people other than herself. This ranges from getting food just for herself and no one else, to setting up a hotel room for a competition and taking it all for herself. It's won her very few friends over the years, and many of her own team only interact with her on the court.
Nosy: Lost your cat up a tree? Your parents are divorcing? You're getting into Harvard? Whatever it is, Velma wants to know, and is willing to do almost anything to find out. She'll stalk your Facebook feed for information, dissect your Tumblr posts, and outright ask you for information. She'll prod and poke and ask you incessantly until either the information is divulged (or the more likely case) it blows up in her face. It's not so much that Velma absolutely needs to know; more so, Velma can't see herself ever being unimportant enough to be left out of the drama or celebration. And, naturally, once Velma knows, the whole school knows, too.
Physical Description: Eyes: Red-Orange, round Hair: Light Pink, chin length Face: Kinda heart-shaped Clothes: Leans towards mixing Victorian/Steampunk style with practical styles. She wears a lot of pants, suspenders, and blouses, as well as riding boots. Lace is used sparingly, and she keeps to muted colors.
