Mission 1: Downtown

Quote:
You run into someone, knocking whatever they're holding out of their hand. They're angry and cause a scene. People around you become suspicious and wary of you. You find that no matter what you do, someone is always watching and there's a concerning amount of attention your way. (You may only roll 1d4 in the next step due to the increased suspicion and distrust thrown your way.)

Velma tugged on the scarf around her neck, adjusting it from it's strangling grasp. She'd never been to Witzend during her time in Europe, but the downtown area brought back memories of her time in England. The same bustle of people, same lack of cars, even the same street hawkers trying to sell their wears. She held a steaming cup of espresso in her hand - the very best of Witzend's coffee houses, as told by the locals - and watched the world around her.

This was her first big mission, and Velma was on point. She had two companions for this, the long haired Regan and white and green haired Shannon, and was determined to do her best. They were out looking for senshi walking around in broad daylight. Who walked around in a leotard in the daylight unless they were dancers? She shifted to look at the two other women, and crashed into someone to her right. There was a crash and both her espresso and their to go salad mingled on the floor. The person she bumped into immediately flew into her face, his own face beet red in anger.

"Apologies, sir I didn't---" she was caught off by a giant angry rush of French that grew in volume. Velma took a step back, on edge and glanced around. The civilians around them eyed her warily as mutters went through the crowd. She glanced at her companions and continue to shrink backwards until the angry French man had had enough.

Great start Velma.

Shannon was currently on a mission to suss out information in the city with two others but she was more interested in the city itself. She would do her job, definitely no worry there, but concentration was more on studying their surroundings. There instructions were pretty clear, they were to observe, gather, and report on what they saw. With luck they would also spot one of the rumored senshi but Shannon wasn't expecting that so she wasn't going to hold her breath.

It was the middle of the day and the streets packed with shoppers, tourists, and various civilians going about their day. Unlike so many spots in the states this particular area was pedestrian only, no vehicular traffic at all, but that was pretty obvious since the whole area was narrow and there was no way a car could make it through.

Shannon poked and strolled among the shops and carts that lined the streets and sidewalks. She smiled and chatted with people, most of them spoke with a heavy accented English once they heard her american accent but rather then find it hard to understand she found it cute. That is until some man started to yell in french at one of her companions.

They weren't meant to draw this kind of attention! But still, it annoyed her the way the guy was getting all huffy over nothing. Awww... poor baby, his food fell. That didn't mean he deserved to yell at the poor woman. With a sigh Shannon sashayed up towards the irate French man and 'bumped' into him.

"Oh, oh, I'm so sorry," She stammered while the guy started b***h at her as well. She batted her lashes and flirted a bit before sashaying off, making her dress swirl around her legs. He was still peeved and there were still eyes on her, and Velma but at least now she was the one who was the center of attention. For good or bad.

"Try to blend in," Shannon muttered to the other officer as she flounced past, flicking her hair out of her way. "I'll keep the attention on me."

It's the middle of the day, with the streets packed with civilians. Shops line the streets and various carts are stationed along sidewalks. There is no vehicle traffic, everyone is on foot and the streets are too narrow for cars.

People chatter at you in various languages, but once they recognize that you're foreigners, they switch to English.

Your instructions are to observe, to see if you can spot the rumored senshi, or, failing that, to gather information regarding the rogue senshi group.

5 - Stopping at a news stand, you pick up a paper to browse because the headline appears to relate to the sudden attacks within the city. You're unable to read the whole article but one blurb stands out and you file it away for later before something distracts you. Quote Nuxaz for a snippet.

The mission, as he understood it, was fairly straight forward.

With the recent increase in reports of possible senshi sightings in downtown Witzend, Isaac, along with three others from their meeting at The Central Hub, were one of the several groups tasked with scouting out the local scene. Their instructions were simple; blend in and observe. Most importantly though - don’t get caught.

Being as they were foreigners sometimes the best disguise is to actually act your role as a visiting tourist. But on that same hand it also meant that having a single man walking around with three ladies would probably raise a few eyebrows. For that simple reason Isaac arrived at their agreed upon location by foot from one of the south streets

As Isaac wandered down the street he paid special attention to certain conversations, pausing here or there as if something interested caught his eye in one of the display windows so he could eavesdrop while pretending to decide whether or not he wanted to go inside the shop. However, when it became apparent that the discussion was anything but relevant to the senshi sightings, he casually moved on to ‘enjoy the sights’ as the saying went.

Mindful to keep his comrades well within his line of sight, Isaac paused at one of the newsstands. Most of the papers appeared to be in French but there were blessedly a few written in English. One in specific had a photo on the front page with a headline that caught his attention; and so he casually picked it up and began skimming the article until his turn in line came up to pay.

“Je vous remercie,” the man beamed a smile at Isaac when he dropped his change in the tip jar next to the register.

In reply, Isaac nodded his head and responded in English “You’re welcome!”

From there he had intended to walk over to one of the outdoor seating areas at one of the cafe’s when a loud commotion caught his attention. Isaac sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose when he realized that it was two of his companions who had managed to somehow anger one of the locals and become the target of his ire.

So much for being discreet.

Resigning himself to being the one to go over and break up the argument before fists were thrown, Isaac ripped the article out of the paper he was holding and shoved it into his back pocket to finish reading later.

The headline reads: ARSON OR GAS LEAK? there's something about...a hat shop...? but you don't get too much of a chance to read anymore before the stand owner starts giving you dirty looks for reading instead of buying.

You don't want to cause a scene...so it's probably a good idea to put it back.

Regan had been assigned to most newest members of Laby...Chase's handpicked crew, and they were all faces she didn't know. She committed them to memory though, before they separated to scout the town so she knew who to look for.

Shannon was quite the flirt, Velma was a bit more reserved and Isaac was still too new to judge. She just remembered Shannon and Velma from the meeting and briefly because Chase had made sure to point out that she was open for them. It was an odd idea to be relied on, because of her rank and because she was one of the pack.

She walked around the city, mostly ignoring people and keeping her eyes sharp. It was easy to ignore the pale waifish woman as she ducked around people.

It wasn't tell she stopped at a newspaper stand, that she took the time to actually read over the headlines. She had never heard of Witzend, so she was curious what sort of activity they reported on. Perhaps they also reported senshi like they did in Destiny City.

STEP 2

Quote:
Choosing to move from your current location, you walk down the street and pass by someone who almost matches the description. Reacting, you grab their wrist. Quote Nuxaz for interaction.

This was going swimmingly. Half the group seemed to be bumping wildly into the crowd, and the other half was trapped by the newspapers. Velma huffed, blowing air out of her nose and soldiered on. There had to be something, anything that led credence to their search. It couldn't jsut be--

A flash caught her eye and she spun to grab the wrist of the person to her left. They almost matched the description they were given. Finally, this could be the lead they needed!

If only no one ******** it up.

The paper Regan looked at happened to be turned towards the culture section.

Alice's Teahouse it read, a stable among Witzend something something get lost blah blah.

A bright and bubbly looking girl bounded up to Regan with big blue eyes. "Oh, that's mine, sorry, I got distracted by the latest teen mag," she said, snatching the paper from the waifish girl's hand before she bounded off.

"Soooooorry~"

The woman shrieked when she was suddenly grabbed by the wrist.

"Let go of me!" She wailed, loud enough to grab the attention of the people surrounding. She's certainly making a scene. "How dare you!" There are flailing hands, smacking at the offending hand keep her captive.

While she looks very similar to the description you're looking for, she's got purple eyes instead of pink.

Upon further scrutiny you realize that there are freckles smattered across her face and she doesn't actually look like what you're looking for.

You have, however, created a scene and now a lot of eyes are on you.

Shannon slowly decreased her 'look at me' behavior as she moved further and further from the irate local. She had tossed a quick shake of the head at Isaac when she spotted him bee-lining it towards them and the disruption her and Velma had inadvertently created. Best not give away all their secrets just yet... on the off chance there was a senshi hiding in the crowd.

Silver eyes drifted over the area absently looking to spot the fourth member of their little group but Regan was pulling a real Where's Waldo and she couldn't spot the other female. Surprising really considering the hair. That hair stood out just as much as Shannon's own pale locks did.

Instead of Regan what Shannon spotted, or who rather, was someone who seemed to match one of the descriptions they were told to keep an eye out for. Now, how was the best way to handle this? She knew she was still getting the evil eye from some people, not exactly the type of attention she prefers, but she also knew that she didn't just want this person to slip away.

So taking the best route she could think of, the stupid tourist route, Shannon lightly grasped the suspected passerby by the wrist and asked, "Oh geez I'm so late. Could you tell me how to get to, um, where was it exactly." She hemmed and hawed for a second while she tried to rack her brain for one of the locations that Chase had mentioned at the meeting. "Oh! The Dormouse Cafe! Have you heard of it?"

Another commotion a little bit away had Shannon mentally wincing. Apparently someone wasn't happy, and she had a feeling that it had something to do with their little hunting party.

3 - You're tailing someone, but a crowd of people suddenly emerge from one of the nearby shops and knock into you. You lose sight of the person you're following and you struggle to get past the crowd.

This mission is turning into a s**t show. Isaac sighed as he waited for a few cars to drive by before jogging across the street to break up the commotion two of his team members, Velma and Shannon, seemed to have started. Given they had only just arived a short while ago, they were suffering a number of exasperating setbacks. Perhaps some training on how to blend in may be in order.

Just before he had a chance to step off the curb, one of the other pedestrians bumped against his back side. Out of instinct, Isaac instantly reached back to ensure his wallet hadn't been stolen only to realize that the little thief had taken the article he planned on giving to Chase.

Glacial blue eyes darted around for the person with the sticky fingers and only once he was sure he had spotted the individual did he deviate from his original plan to pursue the pickpocket. He tried to make eye contact with Regan, so at least she knew which direction he was heading, but the crowd quickly thickened as he was led into a group of people walking the opposite direction.

Two women, in succession, clipped him with their purses only to glare in his direction and mutter some curses he didn't understand. Despite his height, it was hard to keep up with the person who was so adamantly trying to escape him. especially since they knew this area better than he did.

It all ended up being a fruitless endeavor when someone came out one of the clothing stores with more bags then they had arms to carry them with. "I'm sorry," Isaac quickly apologized the set about helping them pick up their merchandise before he too caused a scene.

The woman looks disgruntled when someone jerks her out of her walk. Frowning at Shannon, she yanks her hand back.

"There's no reason to be touchy," she snaps. Wiping her hand against her pant leg she gives the woman a once over, clearly displeased with what she sees.

"Uh, yeah," she responded in a duh tone of voice. It's like three blocks east on Bar Street."

She's looking at Shannon long enough to realize she doesn't match the descriptions well enough. Some people are staring, but she turns on her heel and huffily walks away.

It was interesting to see how lieutenants conducted themselves, her gaze leaving the woman who had taken the article for only the briefest of moments. She planned to follow the woman, but the distractions that both Shannon and Velma engaged in, cause Regan to lose sight of the woman who took the article.

She was smaller and shorter too, so it was hard to tell where anyone was when her gaze met Isaac's, and she mouthed a simple 'regroup' to him. He was gone before she was sure he understood but both Shannon and Velma's negaverse pens would beep with the message from the girl.

Text: Regroup

She hid the tablet away and moved to the location they had designed for their meetings, only slightly miffed that she didn't find what they were looking for.

STEP 3

Velma instantly let go and blended back into the crowd without so much an apology or a backward glance. The crowd seemed to split around her and she did her best to keep moving. The tablet in her pocket pinged, and she ducked into an alley to check it.

Regroup.

Damn this was going swimmingly. She gritted her teeth, cursing her own clumsiness. This wasn't how this was supposed to go. The damn senshi was supposed to be found and captured and she'd go home with a medal and accolades.

Velma pulled her scarf up to hide the frustrated snarl of her mouth, and slipped back into the crowd to find her team mates.

"Now what?" she asked, looking to Regan for suggestions. As the most powerful of the group, the corrupt was the defacto leader. Unfortunately.

As Isaac finished putting items back into bags that had not ripped due to their collision, he felt the tablet he had been given buzz in his pocket.

Reluctantly he pulled it out and read the message sent from Regan Regroup. Isaac's lips pursed into a thin line, thoroughly displeased by how this mission was turning out.

Two members of his team kept causing scene after scene while the only possible lead he had found was stolen and the culprit had got away. Hopefully, if their mission leader was calling them back, it meant that she found something they could work with before heading back to 'base'.

Within a few minutes he re-joined the three women "No luck here..." Isaac shoved his hands into his pockets and looked around one last time in case the little thief decided to turn around and come back.

Shannon smiled and thanked the bitchy lady all the while imagining sticking her hand in her chest and ripping out her starseed. No need for her to be so snappy when all Shannon did was ask for directions! Luckily for the civilian she didn't quite match up with the description of one of the butt bowed warriors and Chase specifically said no dropping bodies so the lady got to live for another day.

So with a bemused smile and quizzical look the undercover lieutenant started towards the direction the lady gave her. She needed to make it seem like she was actually taking the directions she was given, there were people watching after all. She dropped the act the further away from her original spot she got, working on slipping back into the area where they were checking out when her pen informed her that they needed to regroup.

There was only one spot that the text could have meant so without further adieu Shannon made her way there. She was the last one there, not exactly the best but hey, it was always good to make an entrance... sort of.

"Sorry about that, I thought I had spotted one of them but I was wrong," She shrugged slightly as she explained her delayed arrival to the other three.

((sorry about my delay >.<))
