___Taken from Wikipedia: Auroras, sometimes called the northern and southern lights or aurorae (singular: aurora), are natural light displays in the sky, usually observed at night and particularly in the polar regions. In northern latitudes, the effect is known as the aurora borealis, named after the Roman goddess of dawn, Aurora, and the Greek name for north wind, Boreas, by Pierre Gassendi in 1621. The northern lights have had a number of names throughout history. The Cree call this phenomenon the "Dance of the Spirits." In the Middle Ages the auroras have been called a sign from God.
___Auroras are associated with the solar wind, a flow of ions continuously flowing outward from the sun. The Earth's magnetic field traps these particles, many of which travel toward the poles where they are accelerated toward earth. Collisions between these ions and atmospheric atoms and molecules causes energy releases in the form of auroras appearing in large circles around the poles. Auroras are more frequent and brighter during the intense phase of the solar cycle when coronal mass ejections increase the intensity of the solar wind. Seen from space, these fiery curtains form a thin ring in the shape of a monk's tonsure.

___The Point Barrow Eskimos were the only Eskimo group who considered the aurora an evil thing. In the past they carried knives to keep it away from them. The Fox Indians, who lived in Wisconsin, regarded the light as an omen of war and pestilence. To them the lights were the ghosts of their slain enemies who, restless for revenge, tried to rise up again. The Salteaus Indians of eastern Canada and the Kwakiutl and Tlingit of Southeastern Alaska interpreted the northern lights as the dancing of human spirits. The Eskimos who lived on the lower Yukon River believed that the aurora was the dance of animal spirits, especially those of deer, seals, salmon and beluga. The East Greenland Eskimos thought that the northern lights were the spirits of children who died at birth. The dancing of the children round and round caused the continually moving streamers and draperies of the aurora.
___The Makah Indians of Washington State thought the lights were fires in the Far North, over which a tribe of dwarfs, half the length of a canoe paddle and so strong they caught whales with their hands, boiled blubber. The Menominee Indians of Wisconsin regarded the lights as torches used by great, friendly giants in the north, to spear fish at night. An Algonquin myth tells of when Nanahbozho, creator of the Earth, had finished his task of the creation, he traveled to the north, where he remained. He built large fires, of which the northern lights are the reflections, to remind his people that he still thinks of them.

Delicate conditions allow for these extraordinary sights to grace the skies and enchant our hearts as the mystic paintbrush runs across the heavens. After the great storm however, the mystics seem to be unable to solidify their paint into the usual spectral glow. All over, people have begun to notice a dripping of the Aurora, the vibrant pale colors slipping from the canvas of the night in transformation from light to liquid.

___Taken from Wikipedia: The name moonstone is derived from a visual effect, or sheen, caused by light diffraction within a microstructure consisting of a regular succession of feldspar layers. The most common moonstone is of the mineral adularia. The plagioclase feldspar oligoclase also produces moonstone specimens. Moonstone is feldspar with a pearly and opalescent luster. Moonstone is composed of two feldspar species, orthoclase and albite. The two species are intermingled. Then, as the newly formed mineral cools, the intergrowth of orthoclase and albite separates into stacked, alternating layers. When light falls between these thin, flat layers, it scatters in many directions producing the phenomenon called adularescence. The effect of adularescence is best described as a milky, bluish luster or glow originating from below the surface of the gemstone. The schiller, appearing to move as the stone is turned (or as the light source is moved), gives the impression of lunar light floating on water.

Placed under the pillow it will allow for a more peaceful sleep, and is often used as a cure for insomnia. Blue moonstone is best to help facilitate telepathic communications. Moonstone is one of the most mythical of all gemstones with its exotic, lunar name and its milky unique rainbow sheen, the gem is highly prized by many practitioners of crystal and stone healing, as well as some mystic religions. One belief stated that if a person held a moonstone in their mouth during the full moon, they could tell the future. APPEARANCE
It is difficult to pinpoint what one would first notice about the polished moonstone frei. Certainly her pale, moon-kissed skin is impeccable, and her electric blue-green eyes remind you of Caribbean waters on a perfect day, but it her wings and hair which readily draw the most attention. At the crown of her head her hair starts as a deep midnight-mulberry tone which fade and shift like the aurora into pale green at the tips. Usually worn loose and wavy, when pulled into a bun or braid one can better see the fairy-petal wings fluttering upon her back. In tones of soft green and in four segments, they often show off her mood and can be folded over one another to sit flat upon her back. Strong, angled features and lanky limbs finish off Revontulet.
TRAITS
Thick Skin ❖ This isn't just a figure of speech for Ren. That moonstone soul gives her an excellent defense system. Although it's entirely possible to damage her, it's much more difficult than injuring your average human. Cutting or bruising her is nearly impossible.
Glow Bug ❖ What do the aurora do best? That’s right - light up the sky! Ren seems to carry a soft glow or shimmer about her, especially at night. Although she can’t currently control it, the wattage certainly amps up when she feeds.
Aurora Hair ❖ Ren’s hair takes directly after her aurora essence. These silky locks blend into an ombre of enviable colors that even move like the lights in the sky after she’s fed from them. It can get pretty trippy!
Fairy Petals ❖ These pale green wings come in multiple segments upon her back and can move independent of each other or as a cohesive whole. They are quite flexible and light weight, but are tougher than they look as they cannot be easily damaged.
Melting ❖ Recently it’s been discovered that unless she has considerable hold over her magic, Ren will begin melting. The rate at which she melts is relative to feeding habits and magical usage. It’s unsure at this time if it’s something she can control or if she will forever be a slave to it.

FEEDING
❖ Aurora Borealis: Revontulet’s preferred source of feeding. This will recharge her for a substantial amount of time as well as improve her magical powers significantly. Due to the sparsity of aurora in Gaia, and their difficulty to predict, Ren does not often get to feed on them. Unfortunately, too much magic and not enough aurora will result in Ren unable to maintain her solid form and she will slowly revert back to liquid.
❖ Liquid Reflecting Light: These are substantial snacks for Ren, and she generally utilizes this feeding source at least daily. It’s able to sustain her until she is able to feed from an aurora again, but she is unable to recharge her magic from it. She is able to feed off of all forms of light as long as they are being reflected on the water.
❖ Light or Liquid Alone: In a pinch, Ren is able to feed independently from light or liquid on their own. These are only small bites for her and rarely satisfy her fully. If feeding off of light, she is only able to consume natural light (ie: sun or moonlight) but no artificial or chemical lights. Light sources will not be impacted from her feeding, but water sources will be depleted in a manner much like evaporation.
After consuming light in any form, Ren's hair and wings will glow for a little while after depending on how much she has consumed. Should she consume from an aurora borealis, Ren's hair and wings will glow with more intensity and for a considerable length of time afterwards. Her hair, especially, will appear more aurora-like in that the colors will shift and blend.
POWERS
Melting Light - active ❖ Well hey look at that! Girl's gone and gotten herself something worth bragging about. Turns out Ren has the special ability to turn light into liquid. Why someone would want to do this or what use it will be, Ren hasn't quite figured out. More pressing is the problem of her own light melting off of her after utilizing this power!
Dream Sense - passive ❖ When someone (or something) is dreaming near her, Ren can feel a sort of distant tugging towards that person. It is not overwhelming, and she can easily ignore it if she chooses. In this way she knows if someone is currently dreaming.
Dream Amplification - passive ❖ After spending time in Ren's presence people find their dreams are more colourful and vibrant that night. This is especially effective with long periods of interaction or with meetings later in the evening. Shorter meetings or early morning interactions may have no dream alterations.

Charisma; 31 ❖ Need someone to follow to the ends of the Earth? Ren will take you there and you'll be happy about the blisters you get along the way! This girl has a way of smiling at you and making you think the gesture was meant for you alone. She listens well, knows when to deliver the right compliment, and always thinks before she speaks. Engaging and confident, Ren knows how to charm a group like it was second nature. Is it really her fault if you end up doing something you don't want to?
Intelligence; 28 ❖ Beauty and brains? You guessed it! One of Ren's highest stats is her intellect. This lovely lady has a mind that just wont quit. Whenever she falters in anything else, the frei uses her wits to find a way to solve the situation. Ren loves to read and learn new things. Her appetite for learning at this stage is voracious and although she wont talk your ear off with the things she's learned, the girl delights at the opportunity to engage in intelligent conversation.
Friendliness; 28 ❖ Hey, feeling down? Want a shoulder to cry on? Interested in a sleep over? Ren is your girl to call! She may not personally understand all the emotional complications that comes with friendship, but the frei knows how to put two and two together and be a good companion to others. Meeting new people and making new friends are considered the highlights of her day. Loyalty is important to Ren and she works hard on her friendships. You think all that charisma is just a gift?
Magic; 25 ❖ Alakazam and all that nonsense, power definitely resides in this frei. It may not be an overpowering, all encompassing storm of energy, but magic seems to collect around her. Ren is fascinated by the magical world and devotes a great deal of her time to studying it. She hopes that one day her powers can grow beyond what they are now, but that isn't to say she couldn't perform a few tricks should worse come to worse and adrenaline take her side.
Endurance; 25 ❖ Being a rock has its advantages for endurance and boy, can this girl take a beating! Both magically and physically Ren is there to power through. Although she isn't a tank by any means, it's difficult to wear her down and she will use everything she has against you to ensure the outcome is in her favor. Thankfully, she prefers to avoid fights being that she has the physical prowess of a cotton swab. There's also the fact that all Ren's charisma means she's probably got someone willing to step in for her.
Creativity; 23 ❖ People leave their mark on the world in different ways. Ren's way is not with inventive, unique contributions of interesting things. Although she is not completely devoid of creative thought, it is not the strongest of her skills. Rather than go out of her way to make something out of nothing, Ren looks for ways to rework that which she already has before her or patterns that are already well known. It is mostly her intellect put to use which assists her here, rather than her creativity.
Humour; 20 ❖ Knock, knock! Who's there? Nothing, that's who. Jokes just go over that pretty head of hers without a backwards glance. Actually, that's not quite right. Ren understands the concept of a joke, she just don't understand why people find them so damn funny! The most you will get from her is a smile that probably says more about you than about the joke itself. That's not to say she hasn't been known to crack a joke or two. It's just that the poor girl tends to be the only one laughing at the end.
Strength; 19 ❖ Does this girl look like she has a single muscle on her? Despite being able to take a lot of hits due to that thick skin of hers, Ren isn't going to be winning any bare-knuckle boxing championships any time soon. Let's face it, she probably isn't even going to be opening a twist-top jar of jam on her own either. It's a good thing she has the smarts and the stamina to make up for all this wimpyness!

Her tiny waist accentuates a bust that is the envy of many of her friends and hips that are often (unhappily) referred to as 'child-bearing'. Her weight may be higher than acceptable for her height, but she does keep active and would call herself in-shape. skin ❖ Pale coral tones smattered with too many mocha freckles, especially on her nose, cheeks, shoulders and hips. PERSONALITY
Always pleasant and outgoing, the Irish woman is known for talking with her hands and easily getting animated about the little things. Watch out when she gets on a topic she’s truly passionate about! Her easy, relaxed nature is seen as a bonus among her friends, but it can become quite a detriment when placed in a situation where her opinion or beliefs are challenged. Unable to win even the most basic argument, Doucette would rather agree with the other party than cause tension with an opposing view. She detests upsetting others and often grows easily upset when emotions are starting to run high. It would be best to her if everyone got along.
Although the woman loves and laughs easily, she seems not to form intense bonds with many. Very few of her ex-boyfriends ever earned an ‘I love you’ from her and she wasn’t known for dating many at all. In her option, life is full of wonderful, interesting possibilities and she never wants to feel tied down to one thing, place or person unless they prove worthy. However, the people she does hold dear are those whom she will protect at any cost. Despite what some view as a rather weak-willed woman in her efforts to please, she will become as fierce as a lioness should anyone threaten what she loves.
Doucette blushes easily and has the unfortunate ability to often look on the verge of tears even though she tends to cry very little. She has a strong creative streak in her but often squanders it on simple things instead of trying for a larger picture. Her life is not a secret, but she finds that she confides personal things to others very rarely; even something as simple as discussing her tattoos are seen as extremely private things to her.

HISTORY
Doucette wanted very little for herself as a child. Despite some minor bullying attempts for her wild hair, or being taken advantage of through her enthusiasm to please others, she often came home with a smile on her face. Despite a bad accident involving her brother when she was quite young, and which she doesn’t remember, the girl had a rather uneventful childhood. There were pets, and their passing was met with tears and there were boyfriends, though none that seemed to stick around longer than a few months.
Her father, Rory, was her ultimate hero. As a firefighter, she felt that there was no greater man out there. Doucette was often found following him around the house, begging him for stories of adventure. Roisin took most of the girl’s younger years off to be a stay at home parent, and was often over-protective of the girl. Their relationship suffered somewhat due to the difficult years before she moved away, but they have slowly focused on rebuilding it.
Despite only moving a few hours away for college, the decision caused a great deal of strive among the three and her parents often begged her to move closer to home. This unhappiness was further compounded when Doucette decided to do a study abroad and promptly moved to Italy for a semester. As a religions major, Doucette felt the ancient city of Rome would offer her a unique and insightful understanding of the evolution of the religious west. The peninsula opened more doors than just religion for her, however, and after school she moved away from home for good and got a job working as a food critique, obsessed with finding new foods to try.
Struggling to support herself, and ultimately realizing that her passion for food did not equal an ability in writing, she finally decided to become a teacher after much consideration and schooling. Doucette’s passion for learning and her love of children, combined with an almost endless supply of energy and encouragement, make her an exceptional kindergarten teacher. The pay isn’t great, but she feels significantly more rewarded than in her previous career.

WE'RE MOVING!!
My little paradise. I found this little cottage soon after moving into the area and got it for what I consider quite a deal. Perhaps the rooms aren't so big and the furniture is a bit old, but what do I need the space for? The best part is being so very close to the beach but not being in the center of vacation travel. I have very few neighbors on the whole island and an even smaller number of those actually live very close to me. At least the ferry boat comes often and runs late, plus I can walk to it easily! It's so very different from Ireland, but different doesn't have to be a bad thing!
